Chevrolet problems
Chevrolet (/ˌʃɛvrəˈleɪ/ SHEV-rə-LAY), colloquially referred to as Chevy, is an American automobile division of the manufacturer General Motors (GM).
Louis Chevrolet (1878–1941), Arthur Chevrolet (1884–1946) and ousted General Motors founder William C. Durant (1861–1947) started the company on November 3, 1911 as the Chevrolet Motor Car Company. Durant used the Chevrolet Motor Car Company to acquire a controlling stake in General Motors with a reverse merger occurring on May 2, 1918, and propelled himself back to the GM presidency. After Durant's second ousting in 1919, Alfred Sloan, with his maxim "a car for every purse and purpose", would pick the Chevrolet brand to become the volume leader in the General Motors family, selling mainstream vehicles to compete with Henry Ford's Model T in 1919 and overtaking Ford as the best-selling car in the United States by 1929 with the Chevrolet International.
Chevrolet-branded vehicles are sold in most automotive markets worldwide. In Oceania, Chevrolet was represented by Holden Special Vehicles, having returned to the region in 2018 after a 50-year absence with the launching of the Camaro and Silverado pickup truck (HSV was partially and formerly owned by GM subsidiary Holden, which GM retired in 2021). In 2021, General Motors Specialty Vehicles took over the distribution and sales of Chevrolet vehicles in Oceania, starting with the Silverado. In 2005, Chevrolet was relaunched in Europe, primarily selling vehicles built by GM Daewoo of South Korea with the tagline "Daewoo has grown up enough to become Chevrolet", a move rooted in General Motors' attempt to build a global brand around Chevrolet. With the reintroduction of Chevrolet to Europe, GM intended Chevrolet to be a mainstream value brand, while GM's traditional European standard-bearers, Opel of Germany and Vauxhall of the United Kingdom, would be moved upmarket. However, GM reversed this move in late 2013, announcing that the brand would be withdrawn from Europe from 2016 onward, with the exception of the Camaro and Corvette. Chevrolet vehicles were to continue to be marketed in the CIS states, including Russia. After General Motors fully acquired GM Daewoo in 2011 to create GM Korea, the last usage of the Daewoo automotive brand was discontinued in its native South Korea and succeeded by Chevrolet.
In North America, Chevrolet produces and sells a wide range of vehicles, from subcompact automobiles to medium-duty commercial trucks. Due to the prominence and name recognition of Chevrolet as one of General Motors' global marques, 'Chevrolet', 'Chevy' or 'Chev' is used at times as a synonym for General Motors or its products, one example being the GM LS1 engine, commonly known by the name or a variant thereof of its progenitor, the Chevrolet small-block engine.

Common Chevrolet problems
Chevrolet cars are known for their quality and reliability, but like any other vehicles, they can experience certain common problems. Here are some of the most frequently reported issues based on complaints from Chevrolet owners:
- Transmission problems: Transmission issues are a common complaint among Chevrolet owners, with many reporting problems such as rough shifting, stuttering, and lurching. These issues can occur at low or high speeds and can require minor repairs, major rebuilds, or even complete replacements. The average cost of repair is more than $3,000.
- Electrical problems: Electrical issues are a common problem in many Chevrolet models, including the Impala, which has been reported to suffer from problems such as failing to start, windows and door mirrors suddenly ceasing to operate, and batteries going flat. The average cost to fix these issues is $450.
- Steering problems: Power steering issues are a common complaint among Chevrolet Malibu owners, with many reporting that the only way to stop the issue from recurring is to replace the steering system. The average cost of repair is $910.
- Instrument panel problems: Chevrolet Silverados and Trailblazers have been reported to have a weak spot where their instrument panels are concerned, with numerous owners reporting that the instrument cluster fails at around the 64,000-mile mark. The main way to fix this issue is to replace the instrument cluster, which costs around $440.
- Fuel pump problems: Chevrolet Cavalier owners have reported a high incidence of fuel pump failure, which can cost an average of $700 to repair.
- Cracking dashboard problems: The dashboard on the Chevrolet Tahoe is prone to cracking in hotter climates, which can cost around $200 to repair.
- Oil consumption problems: Many Chevrolet Tahoe owners have reported excessive oil consumption, which can be traced to the piston rings or require a complete engine replacement. The cost to fix this issue is around $5,500.
- Air-conditioning problems: The air-conditioning system on many Chevrolet models is known to be quite fragile, with issues such as broken condensers or air-con compressors that have given up the ghost. The average cost of repair is $1,110.
- Engine problems: Many Chevrolet owners have reported issues with their 5.3-liter Vortec V8 engine running rough, which can require a complete engine teardown and rebuild. The cost of this repair can be in the thousands of dollars, but purchasing a Haynes manual can help save hundreds of dollars by allowing the owner to do the job themselves.
These are just some of the common problems reported by Chevrolet owners. If you own a Chevrolet, it's important to be aware of these issues and to seek professional help if you experience any of them. Regular maintenance and repairs can help prevent these issues from becoming more serious and can help ensure that your Chevrolet remains safe and reliable for years to come.

We then started having rattles within the body, that are still going, to this day. We have had 4 radios put in due to electrical, still having the same Issues with it, TO THIS DAY. There is some kind of leak inside the body that is causing water to get into the doorframe and slosh around. Chevrolet is not wanting to take accountability and lemon this car, as we’ve had it in the shop right at 10 times for the same issues.

- Summary: I am writing to submit a formal complaint regarding serious safety violations and malpractice by SLValley Chevrolet, along with accountability concerns with General Motors (GM). This complaint follows an existing case with the Utah Attorney General Consumer Protection Division (Complaint SR:9-1384660535) and highlights multiple incidents that compromise vehicle safety and public well-being. Summary of Issues: 1. **Electrical Issues and Unsafe Repairs**: I incurred substantial costs, including a recent invoice of **$2,210.72** dated **October 23, 2024**, for a supposed resolution Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet was supposed to have resvoled for an electrical issue. Despite this, the electrical problems remained unresolved, indicating a lack of professional workmanship and charges for servces not rendedered. Also additional time and money wasted. 2. **Damaged Oil Pan**: Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet caused damage to my oil pan, and they attempted to charge me **$866.00** for this damage. I believe this to be an unfair and unjust practice that reflects poorly on the integrity of their service. I authorized an oil change with the electrical issue and after service the car came home leakinig oil. They damaged the components. An oil change would not have been conducted had there been damage. The April invoice with this company will also show a previous oil change and at that time no issue. 3. **Continued Safety Hazards**: I paid **$531.12** on **September 23, 2024**, for a battery cable replacement, oil change, and tire rotation, which resulted in a new leaking oil issue and a flat tire. My vehicle broke down in traffic due to these unresolved problems, creating a potential accident hazard on the road. Tried to charge me for the damage they caused to oil pan and plug. 4. **Carcinogenic Smoke Exposure**: I faced severe health risks due to inhaling carcinogenic smoke following a service in **February 2024**. A leak at the turbo line feed was noted, and d

- Summary: This is by far the worst car purchase I've ever made. I've had this car for 4 years now and ever since I purchased it, it has given me problems. The car shut down completely at the stop sign or stop light, even when pulling out of the parking spot. Battery replaced, fuel line/pump/gasket replaced, wire fixed, oils and fluids stay up to date, transmission fluid changed, and not one mechanic, not even GM can tell me what the problem is because they don't even know. No codes appear and diagnostics come back fine and clear. Every mechanic has fixed something they've thought could be causing the problem yet the problem still exists. This is a headache to deal with and dangerous for my family and me. This has been the worst experience ever experienced with any vehicle i have owned.
