Chevrolet Tahoe problems
The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge-engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs and other trucks from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their "Blazer" and "Jimmy" nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the "Yukon" in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer the "new Blazer," while renaming the full-size Blazer as the "Tahoe." The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States, and was originally used as a trim level on S-10 models. The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.
For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.
The Tahoe has regularly been the best-selling full-size SUV in the United States, frequently outselling its competition by two to one.

They say it is not covered (beccause my VIN isn't within the recalls that already exist for this exact same problem). The cost is over $1,200. I contacted Chevy corporate and they offered to cover 30%. The dealership is still awaiting the part(s) with no provided delivery date. This could have caused a serious MV accident if it had failed while driving. The vehicle gave no warning of this failure.

- Summary: Took the vehicle in for Airbag System recall in 2022. They said they fixed it and that there was a broken wire. The very next day the warning light came on again like before. I contacted the dealership and they said bring it in. I could not get it in again as I was very busy. I asked them to make a note in my file of the immediate call/report of still a problem. I took the vehicle in this month (October 2024) for issue of no starting (fuel pump failure, another recall they are denying). They stated that the Drivers Side Airbag module was shorted or bad and my cost would be approximately $1,250. They stated it was not covered under any recall. I contacted Chevy corporate that offered to cover 30% only of this. I believe this should be covered in whole due to the failure to repair the first time and that is is a known safety issue. The vehicle has only 10,800 miles.

The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and making a turn in either direction, there was an abnormal groaning sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the rear differential had malfunctioned, and the differential fluids were replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the Extend Coverage to address the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Mechanic ordered fuel pump power control module from GM and replaced on my vehicle. This corrected the problem. I am requesting my VIN to be added to the recall and GM to pay for the part, labor and towing.

Which is weird because there's a recall on 2016 chevy tahoes for this exact symptoms and part. Now I did go to [XXX] and found a recall under my Vin and also a warranty for this part under my Vin. Living on the NH seacoast, we were looking for a vehicle that could handle the tough winters and provide some fun for light off-roading. We are happy to say that our experience from purchase to the first few weeks of ownership has been fantastic! The vehicle has all the power, quality, comfort, and room we were looking for. The ride is smooth and the handling is crisp. The cabin is quiet and the Bose sound system is a nice touch. The full option set competes with any player in its class. The interior and exterior fit and finish are outstanding. There is plenty of room for groceries, bikes, and trips to Home Depot, as well as comfort for friends and family touring. The vehicle has a great cruising range and long-term comfort for longer trips, and the V8 highway power is impressive when needed.

Your car is doing great after 3 years and 66k miles! It's amazing that you haven't had any problems. The pickup is smooth and it gets the same mileage as a 6 cylinder explorer, but it's much quieter.

You had a very comfortable ride! It sounds like driving was a lot of fun, especially considering the long distance from Cincinnati OH to Miami FL. The quiet ride and smooth driving must have made the journey a joy. It's great to hear that you were able to tow an 18 ft bass boat with no problems. At one point during the trip, you even got up to 19 mpg!

I purchased a 03 Z71 with 138k miles a few months ago and I am quite fond of it. However, I am disappointed with the fuel efficiency as I am only getting around 14-15 mpg on the highway. While I have seen claims of 17-20 mpg, I find them hard to believe. I am hoping to improve my fuel efficiency in the future. Unfortunately, I recently discovered that I need to replace the wheel bearing on the front passenger wheel and the heated seat (driver) is malfunctioning. Despite these issues, the vehicle is very comfortable with a good ride, handling, and turn radius. As a used vehicle, I understand that it may not be perfect, but I am confident in its overall quality.

Over the past year, I've been commuting 100 miles a day to school, and during three months of training, I've covered 5,000 miles, turning my Tahoe into a rolling office. The ride quality on the highway is superb, and it has an estimated gas mileage of 18 mpg. If you haven't replaced the head gaskets, air conditioning sensors, and factory CD player yet, you should expect to do so. The seats are incredibly comfortable, and there was enough room for four adult males and their gear during our three months of training. Many people have commented on the ride quality and feel it is better than their Z71 pick-ups or even 2004 F-150 with the suspension outside the frame. It's a well-built vehicle, and I would highly recommend it.

I recently purchased a Tahoe as my first GM vehicle in years, upgrading from an 08 Chevy classic truck. Although I had some concerns about the build quality, I decided to buy it sight unseen due to my preference for the color. Unfortunately, I have experienced several issues with the vehicle, including problems with the tailgate latch, doors, and folding seats. Additionally, the rear seating quality is subpar and the folding mechanism often jams. The vehicle has also required multiple trips to the shop for electronic issues, including intermittent failures of the 4-wheel drive and Stabilitrac/Trac control. I have also noticed that the side molding tape may soon come loose. According to the dealer, the electronic faults were caused by a wiring harness that was routed incorrectly during assembly. Despite these issues, I remain confident in my decision to purchase a Tahoe and would recommend considering a vehicle from a different assembly plant.

I wanted to share my experience with the wind deflector on my LTZ. Unfortunately, I've had some issues with it catching on the tires and causing damage to both the deflector and front fender. The cost to replace both items was quite high at $1400.00. I've had this happen twice in the past 6 months, and while I've brought it to the attention of a GM representative, they were unable to offer a solution that wouldn't void my warranty. While I understand that this may be a common issue with smaller cars, I was surprised to see it happen with a larger SUV like mine. I wish I had known about this issue before purchasing my vehicle, as I may have chosen a different model. Thank you for taking the time to read about my experience.

I bought a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe LT in August 2009. Unfortunately, I have had some issues with the vehicle. Between December 2009 and January 2013, I had to replace the left dash panel, broken and peeling door handles, and a trans filler tube that had broken. Additionally, I experienced multiple leakages in the vehicle. The molding around the sunroof was rippled, which allowed water to get in. The overhead console flooded twice, and it leaked in the cargo area once. As of January 2013, the front passenger side floorboard is saturated with water. Although it is a beautiful vehicle, I am disappointed with the quality for the money. I hope that Chevrolet can improve their quality in the future. Thank you for taking the time to read my review.

The vehicle has experienced some issues such as noisy wind noise from either the sunroof or front door windows, rust starting under the vehicle after only 3 months, and a squeaking sound from the driver side rear emergency brake line. Additionally, the transmission occasionally shifts hard. These issues are concerning and require attention, but I am confident that they can be resolved with proper maintenance and care.

Welcome to my Chevy review! I used to own a 2008 Honda Pilot, but I must say, I'm really impressed with the Tahoe LS. During my 1600 mile road trip, I was able to average 23 MPG, which is pretty impressive for an SUV of this size with a V8 engine. As someone who enjoys cruising, I appreciate the smooth acceleration and comfortable ride. The engine even switches from 8 cylinders to 4 cylinders during flat terrain, which helps with fuel efficiency. When I first saw the distance from the wheel to the frame, I thought it was a bit excessive, but the Tahoe glides over rough roads with ease, making for a very smooth ride. It's also easy for my elderly father to get in and out of thanks to the step and handle. The second row seats are spacious and the third row is perfect for kids.
