Chevrolet M van problems
The Chevrolet Van or Chevy Van (also known as the Chevrolet/GMC G-series vans and GMC Vandura) is a range of vans that was manufactured by General Motors from the 1964 to 1996 model years. Introduced as the successor for the rear-engine Corvair Corvan/Greenbrier, the model line also replaced the panel van configuration of the Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle was sold both in passenger van and cargo van configurations as well as a cutaway van chassis that served as the basis for a variety of custom applications.
Produced across three generations (1964–66, 1967–70, and 1970–96), the model line was sold under a wide variety of model names under both the Chevrolet and GMC brands. The first two generations were forward control vehicles (with the engine placed between the seats); the third generation adopted a configuration placing the engine forward of the driver. The second and third generations shared powertrain commonality with the C/K pickup truck model line.
After the 1996 model year, GM retired the G-Series vans, replacing them with the GMT600-platform Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana.

Common Chevrolet M van problems
Based on the complaints from owners of Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana vans, several common problems have been identified:
- Starting and Stalling Issues: Owners have reported problems with starting the van, where it fires up for a brief moment then quits. This issue persists even after various repairs like tune-ups, intake manifold gasket replacements, and computer changes. The van may require multiple attempts to start, especially when hot, and may stall intermittently while driving.
- Fuel System Problems: Some complaints suggest issues with the fuel system, including fuel filters, fuel pumps, and ignition switches. Replacing these components did not always resolve the stalling problem, indicating potential underlying issues with fuel delivery.
- Electrical and Computer Malfunctions: Complaints mention problems with the computer system, including the need for a new computer and issues with the coil tower causing high voltage leaks. Electrical issues like loose grounds and wiring problems have also been reported.
- Leaking and Water Ingress: Leaks have been a common issue, with reports of leaks from gutters, windows, and other areas of the van. Water ingress can lead to various problems, including electrical issues, rust, and interior damage.
- General Wear and Tear: Owners have highlighted general wear and tear problems such as rust, brittle plastics, and rattling components. These issues can affect the overall driving experience and longevity of the vehicle.
These common problems with Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana vans can be frustrating for owners and may require thorough diagnostics and repairs to address effectively. Regular maintenance, timely inspections, and addressing issues promptly can help mitigate these problems and ensure the longevity of the vehicle.
