The Chevrolet Express (also known as the GMC Savana) is a series of full-size vans produced by General Motors since 1996. The successor to the Chevrolet G-series van, the Express is produced in passenger and cargo variants. Alongside the standard van body, the line is offered as a cutaway van chassis; the latter vehicle is a chassis cab variant developed for commercial-grade applications, including ambulances, buses, motorhomes, and small trucks.
In production for a single generation since 1995, over 2.5 million examples of the Express and the Savana have been produced. One of the longest-produced designs in American automotive history, the Express/Savana are rivaled only by the Jeep Wagoneer and Dodge Ram Van for longevity.
Since 1995, General Motors has assembled the Express and Savana at its Wentzville Assembly facility (Wentzville, Missouri). Also, since 2017, GM has sourced commercial cutaway-chassis production from Navistar through its Springfield Assembly Plant (Springfield, Ohio).

- Summary: Hole warn in front passenger side brake line from battery cable going to engine starter motor. The shielding on electrical cable rubbed and wore a hole in the brake line causing fluid to flow out and caused brakes to fail. No one was injured and no accident. I was backing out of the driveway the brakes failed, next I saw a large puddle of fluid on driveway, I just put it in park. The battery cable crosses over the break line and both are fastened to the frame near each other. I can provide break line and photo. The van has 60,000 miles on it, I purchased it new in 2005.

I have removed the tire and it's a clear defect causing cracks and bubbles. 245/75R16 111T SL WRL AT ADVENTURE OWL Tire failed on the inside side wall while the Van was parked for about 2 hours. Tires were purchased in 2019 but has a built year of 2016. AAA service inspected the Van and could not locate reason for issue. I also examined Ring video footage during the event and did not see anything near the Vehicle at the time of the event

- Summary: This vehicle was sold for use over US highways, as "repairable condition". After going to a mechanic shop, I was advised, because of sever rust the rear leaf spring hangers were completely rusted thru, the rear axle assembly could come off or the frame could break in half, by just going over say, a railroad crossing. The mechanic said they would not repair this vehicle for use to drive on roads. I am requesting a local representative to help evaluate if this vehicle is safe to travel on Oklahoma roads.

I found two wires at harness where code reader plugs into . O was able to ground them but now a couple months later same problem. I found burnt wires in harness and I cannot access to evaluate or replace. I've completed repairs myself, I am poor and dont know any honest affordable mechanics as I am capable of most reasonable repairs. I think my van falls under overheating panel warranty as described by this website. I still have 2 years of payments on van

- Summary: Paint is peeling from ALL parts of the exterior vehicle, even around the window frames and door frames! It appears that NO PAINT PRIMER was used, at all! My white van has missing paint from about 75% of the vehicle, with bubbling going on, in the remainder of paint that has yet to fall off! Looking at ANY Chevy van that is on the roadways, one can easily see that the paint has also been falling off those vehicles, as well! This is a well-known defect in the painting practices of most ALL Chevrolet Vans, and should be dealt with on a class-action basis, since all Chevrolet Van owners are forced to live with an inferior paint scheme on these vehicles! But new owners are not aware of these shortcomings, until they see the paint fall off their vans, for no apparent reason! And it is clearly seen that NO PAINT PRIMER was used, when you look at the paint chip that fell off! Shame on Chevrolet and shame on the NHTSA agency for allowing any auto manufacturer to put out such inferior products to unsuspecting consumers!

- Consequence: A short-circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the repair is complete. GM will notify owners, and dealers will remove a portion of the anti-rotation tab on both positive battery cable terminals near the fuse block assembly attachments, free of charge. If too much of the tab had been removed during prior servicing, the battery cable will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began April 16, 2021. It's great to hear that you find the vehicle comfortable to drive with excellent handling. The engine and transmission are very smooth and powerful, and it's impressive that it's so efficient with up to 19 mpg on the highway and averaging over 16 mpg for all driving combined. The cruise control is also very efficient. It's good to know that this vehicle is much more comfortable to drive and handle than the Honda Pilot that it replaced.

I've had this van for about 18 months and I'm really happy with it. It's been much more reliable than the 2 Honda vans we've owned. I've taken it on many long trips and it's not only comfortable, but it gets between 17-19 mpg on the highway. As a car guy, I've never been a fan of GM products, but after talking to my trustworthy mechanic, he recommended it - and he was right!

I used to be a die-hard Honda fan, believing that Honda had the most reliable and fuel-efficient vehicles in the US. Over the course of 20 years, I purchased 9 new Honda and Acura cars, ranging from Accord to Civic to CRV to Pilot to Odyssey. However, since owning a Chevy Express 2500 (Explorer conversion w/ high top roof), I am not so sure if Honda really is the best. I must admit, when it comes to a big car, GM still reigns supreme. (After all, a little 30mpg Civic isn't for everyone - some of us have no other option.) The Express gets 16-17 MPG @ 75MPH, even when it's overloaded with 7 adults and tons of luggage. If I did the same with the Odyssey, it would only get 20MPG, and there would barely be any room left to breathe.

I previously owned two Ford 15 passenger vans, but after trying out the Chevy Express Van, I am never going back to Ford! The Express Van is much more stable and handles with greater honesty. It has been trouble-free for 62,000 miles and is still going strong. I love how versatile it is - I can pull the seats and use it to haul plywood or even carry a motorcycle inside on occasion. On long trips driving at 55 mph, I get 17-18 mpg (5.7 L engine). I highly recommend this van! In fact, I just bought a 2005 model for my business uses too.

This van is perfect for my needs! It drives smoothly and even pulls my 19 FT bow rider boat better than my old 92' F250. The interior clearance is higher than my previous truck, even with a cap on it. Plus, all the seats are easily removable, making it a breeze to load up with music equipment or even bring the band along with me. With the 5.7 litre motor, I have no problems on hills, and it's even great for taking the garbage to the dump - the cans fit perfectly standing up in the back with the lids on. I'm still discovering all the many uses of this van, but I'm already loving it!

Four kids each with their own space - we couldn't be happier! The layout inside is great and all the gadgets kept the kids quiet while we talked. It's also easy to drive. We've taken long trips with cargo packed in the rear and everyone was well pleased. This car was clearly targeted at families like ours, and we absolutely loved it.

I really appreciate the design of the van, especially the exterior look and the rear doors with hinges that are designed to maximize access and storage. However, I am sorry to hear that you have had some issues with reliability. It sounds like you have had to replace the fuel pump ($600), the water pump, and one of the side windows fell out ($1000). I understand that the mechanic at the Kingman AZ dealership told you that there is a design flaw in the fuel pump which manifests itself primarily in higher elevation, hotter climates, and that Chevy knows about it but won't replace them. It must have been frustrating to have to make all these repairs while the vehicle had less than 75,000 miles.

I bought the van slightly used instead of a 2008 Dodge Sprinter. I saved over $25000, which can pay for years of fuel, and I am happy to support an American-made product. My family and I are thrilled with the van! The fuel economy is better than expected (approximately 16.5 MPG on the highway). The only downside is the quality and fit of the plastic trim inside the vehicle.

As a father of four, my family and I love to travel, sometimes on really long trips. Most of the time, we travel in our Dodge Ram 3500 while towing a toy hauler. However, when we're not towing our trailer, we drive our Town and Country, which is by far the roomiest and most comfortable minivan that I know of. Last weekend, I had the opportunity to drive an Express van when we had 11 soldiers going up for training. At first, I was very impressed with the interior and the location of the switches, etc. However, as soon as I tried to speed up to enter the freeway, I realized how underpowered it was. It reminded me of my old Tahoe, mostly engine noise but no speed or power. The wind noise was pretty bad, and I couldn't concentrate as the noise was so loud it was hurting my ears. Some of the buttons, especially the ones on the left side of the dash, are just not ergonomic. The steering was hard after a four-hour drive, but the turning radius is okay, so I have no complaints there. On the way back, I was too tired to drive, so I ended up switching seats with someone else. I ended up sitting in the second-row seats, which was a big mistake. I should have just sucked it up and continued driving. The back seats are just so uncomfortable that I wanted to open the doors and jump out.
