The Chevrolet Beretta is a coupé that was produced by Chevrolet from 1987 until 1996. Alongside the four-door Chevrolet Corsica, the Beretta served as the successor to the Chevrolet Citation. Slotted between the Cavalier and Lumina/Monte Carlo coupes, the Beretta was distinguished by its vertical door handles mounted on the B-pillar, a design feature later used by the Chevrolet Lumina coupe and its GM W-body counterparts.

The Beretta shared the front-wheel drive GM L platform with the Corsica; replacing the X-body platform, the L-body was designed by Chevrolet, with the rest of General Motors using the Oldsmobile-designed N-body. The body was designed in the same design studio as the contemporary Camaro and Corvette. For 1990, a Beretta convertible conversion was selected as the Indianapolis 500 pace car; though a replica was initially considered as a convertible, the production replica was offered as a coupe.

During its production, the Beretta was assembled alongside the Corsica and Pontiac Tempest sedans (the latter, sold only in Canada) in GM facilities in Wilmington, Delaware, and Linden, New Jersey.

ALL I COULD AFFORD WAS A LOW MILEAGE DEMONSTRATOR.NOW THE NEW CAR IS APPROACHING THE SAME AGE AND IT HAS THE SAME ENGINE. *AK I TRAVEL TO OHIO FOR CHRISTMAS. NOW I'M WORRIED ABOUT THIS CAR. I'M A MILITARY WIDOW AND I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW CAR EVERY TWO OR THREE YEARS. I ALWAYS TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND SERVICE. I AM LUCKY I WAS HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IF IT HAD HAPPENED LAST CHRISTMAS ON MY WAY TO OHIO, I WOULD HAVE FROZE TO DEATH. MOST OF THE DATES HERE ARE GUESSES. GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD HAVE ALL THE CORRECT DATES ON FILE. ASTRO VAN WITH A V-6 ENGINE WITH 250,000 MILES ON IT WITH NO PROBLEM. IT HAS ALWAYS HAD THE OLD STYLE GREEN ANTIFREEZE IN IT. I FEEL THAT IF THERE HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM THEY SHOULD WARN PEOPLE ABOUT IT. AND IF I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED BEFORE I BOUGHT IT.

    Vehicle year: 1994

Although this car has had some issues, it has been well-maintained and has undergone necessary repairs to ensure its optimal performance. The head gasket and engine head have been replaced, and the transmission has been repaired to ensure smooth operation. Overall, this car is in good condition and ready for use.

  2. Damien Fahey 2025-02-21

    Vehicle year: 1996

This is actually my second Chev. Beretta, and I must say, they have never let me down. Beretta's are incredibly reliable cars that pack a punch without being too flashy. It's always amusing to have a Mustang or some other sporty car pull up next to you, thinking they can show off, but with the Beretta, you can easily leave them in the dust without even trying.

  3. Ewell Gulgowski 2025-02-18

    Vehicle year: 1995

This car has been a real pleasure to own so far, exceeding my expectations in every way. It's a zippy little number that's an absolute joy to drive on winding roads.

  4. Casper Hirthe 2025-01-11

    Vehicle year: 1990

I had a really tough time with my car. I had to replace a lot of parts such as ball joints, radiator, injectors, wheel bearings, CV joints, muffler, and more. It also had some issues like oil leaks, digital dash going in and out, clutch, window motor, blower motor, AC compressor, brakes, brake pistons, and transmission mount. Despite all of these issues, I finally gave it away for free because I just couldn't stand it anymore. There was a radio station where I lived that said 'Crank up the volume so you don't hear that funny noise your car is making' and that's exactly what I always did with that car!

  5. Carson Stark 2024-11-03

    Vehicle year: 1991

The Chevy Beretta from '91 has great speed and acceleration, but unfortunately, it has a reputation for poor reliability. Many owners, including myself, have experienced issues with batteries and starters. In the past two months alone, I've spent a total of $1,684 on three different problems. I would strongly advise against considering this car for purchase. It seems that every owner I've talked to has had a negative experience with it. However, it's important to note that this is just my personal experience with the car.

  1. Domenick Labadie 2025-02-21

    Vehicle year: 1995

My 4th Beretta, this 94 BerettaZ26 in aqua metallic, was the ultimate car. It never once gave me any trouble. I treated it with equal respect and never missed any maintenance on it. I always washed and waxed it. Even at 10 years old, people still stopped me to compliment me on her. Not that I do, but I could take corners and freeway ramps at 80mph and never lose control of her. She was always the first one off a light without hesitation. There was no vehicle I couldn't pass on the freeway with her. Sure, you felt the bumps with her, but that's the price you pay for the stiff suspension. I sold her yesterday to my nephew. My new tracker will never live up to my Beretta.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed reading about your car. It sounds like you've had a great experience with it, and I'm so glad to hear that it's been such a reliable vehicle for you. Even though it's been through a bit of a rough patch with the accident, it's great to hear that it was easy to repair. It sounds like you've definitely gotten your money's worth out of it! Thanks for sharing your story with me.

This is a great car if you enjoy speed, but not excessive speed.

This car is definitely one of Chevrolet's best ideas. Overall, it's a great car with more positives than negatives. Although I bought it used and can't control how the previous owner treated it, I treat it like my best friend and it treats me the same way. That's why I love it!
