Chevrolet Beretta problems
The Chevrolet Beretta is a coupé that was produced by Chevrolet from 1987 until 1996. Alongside the four-door Chevrolet Corsica, the Beretta served as the successor to the Chevrolet Citation. Slotted between the Cavalier and Lumina/Monte Carlo coupes, the Beretta was distinguished by its vertical door handles mounted on the B-pillar, a design feature later used by the Chevrolet Lumina coupe and its GM W-body counterparts.
The Beretta shared the front-wheel drive GM L platform with the Corsica; replacing the X-body platform, the L-body was designed by Chevrolet, with the rest of General Motors using the Oldsmobile-designed N-body. The body was designed in the same design studio as the contemporary Camaro and Corvette. For 1990, a Beretta convertible conversion was selected as the Indianapolis 500 pace car; though a replica was initially considered as a convertible, the production replica was offered as a coupe.
During its production, the Beretta was assembled alongside the Corsica and Pontiac Tempest sedans (the latter, sold only in Canada) in GM facilities in Wilmington, Delaware, and Linden, New Jersey.

I TOOK IT TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD REPLACE THE HEADS, BUT THEY WOULDN'T GAURANTEE THAT WOULD FIX IT. THEY TALKED ME INTO BUYING A NEW CAR. ALL I COULD AFFORD WAS A LOW MILEAGE DEMONSTRATOR.NOW THE NEW CAR IS APPROACHING THE SAME AGE AND IT HAS THE SAME ENGINE. *AK I TRAVEL TO OHIO FOR CHRISTMAS. NOW I'M WORRIED ABOUT THIS CAR. I'M A MILITARY WIDOW AND I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW CAR EVERY TWO OR THREE YEARS. I ALWAYS TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND SERVICE. I AM LUCKY I WAS HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IF IT HAD HAPPENED LAST CHRISTMAS ON MY WAY TO OHIO, I WOULD HAVE FROZE TO DEATH. MOST OF THE DATES HERE ARE GUESSES. GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD HAVE ALL THE CORRECT DATES ON FILE. I BOUGHT THE FIRST CAR IN CABOT, ARKANSAS AND I BOUGHT THE SECOND CAR IN BRANSON , MISSOURI. MY FRIEND HAS BEEN A MECHANIC MOST OF HIS LIFE AND HE CAN'T DO IT ANY MORE. HE PRESENTLY OWNS A 1990 CHEV. ASTRO VAN WITH A V-6 ENGINE WITH 250,000 MILES ON IT WITH NO PROBLEM. IT HAS ALWAYS HAD THE OLD STYLE GREEN ANTIFREEZE IN IT. I FEEL THAT IF THERE HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM THEY SHOULD WARN PEOPLE ABOUT IT. AND IF I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED BEFORE I BOUGHT IT.

Vehicle year: 1996
I have no regrets about this purchase! I bought it 2 years ago and I drive it a lot - nearly 1000 miles a week sometimes - and it has never let me down, despite slow oil changes (the last one was over 10,000 miles ago). While I don't like the windshield wiper control being a rotating, round knob and I really wish it had a delay for the wipers, those are minor complaints considering the dependability and performance of the vehicle. With dark tint, a bra from the manufacturer, and regular waxing, it is an eye-catcher that you won't see broken down somewhere. I would advise anyone needing a reliable car that is a pleasure to drive and easy to individualize visually to buy one!

It's great to hear that your car lasted so long and still looked and ran great even after driving it hard. It's impressive that you only had to replace an alternator and the exhaust during your year and a half of driving. Unfortunately, the fuel pump recently went out due to the mileage, but it's understandable that you decided against fixing it. Now you're looking to buy either a 96 Monte Carlo or another Beretta, this time a 94. Best of luck with your search!

An underrated, economical sports car that is still neglected by the performance parts aftermarket. Without a doubt, it's the best bang for the buck car that I have ever driven. With V6 or Quad4 power, great mileage, and an outstanding handling package, you simply can't go wrong.

This is a first-rate vehicle with great styling and wicked performance. The Beretta has a great following and is intended to be the successor to the Camaro.

Last spring, unfortunately, my cute little Beretta passed away. It was to be expected from an 11-year-old car with over 150,000 miles. So, I decided to buy a 2000 Blazer. Looking back, I should have tried to revive the Beretta! It gave me 8 years of good driving, and I only started having problems with it in the last 6 months I had it. Unfortunately, my 'new' car has been in the shop 3 times in the year I've had it.

The Chevy Beretta from '91 has great speed and acceleration, but unfortunately, it has a reputation for poor reliability. Many owners, including myself, have experienced issues with batteries and starters. In the past two months alone, I've spent a total of $1,684 on three different problems. I would strongly advise against considering this car for purchase. It seems that every owner I've talked to has had a negative experience with it. However, it's important to note that this is just my personal experience with the car.

I have experienced numerous issues with my car in just three years. I have had to replace the brakes (pads and rotors), fuel pump, four out of six fuel injectors, the alternator, and the transmission twice. Unfortunately, the car failed the emissions test and I had to get rid of it. I suggest considering foreign cars, such as Honda. Although I was initially hesitant to try them due to my preference for American cars, I am now a firm believer in their quality and reliability.

I understand your frustration with the car. It seems like there were some issues with the ergonomics, interior and exterior quality, and performance. It's important to have a car that meets your needs and expectations. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I noticed a lot of positive reviews, so maybe I just had a lemon. However, my experience with the 96 z26, which my mom gave me as an 18th birthday gift, was not great. The car looked cool, except for the teal paint and pink z26 stickers, which was every 18-year-old boy's dream color combo. Unfortunately, there were too many issues to list, and frankly, the majority of them were electrical. Like an earlier post mentioned, there were plenty of alternator issues, but there were also many other electrical problems. It got very pricey, especially for a young guy with not a lot of money. It was difficult to cruise with friends because the back seat was all but pointless. You could maybe fit one person in the back if they put their legs across the seats. A positive, though, was that it was a quick little car and, like someone mentioned earlier, it could beat the V6 Mustang, which was cool when it ran. Overall, my experience with that car left a bad taste in my mouth, but I'm grateful for the memories.
