The Chevrolet Trax is a crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors and marketed under the Chevrolet brand since 2013, currently in its second generation.
The first generation model was released globally in 2013 as the smallest, entry-level crossover SUV offering from the brand. Development and production were centered in South Korea by GM Korea. A restyled model was also produced as the Buick Encore in North America and as the Opel/Vauxhall Mokka in Europe.
In several markets, the vehicle was marketed as the Chevrolet Tracker, and as the Holden Trax in Australia and New Zealand. The Trax became available in Canada, Mexico, Germany, South Korea, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, and Europe for the 2013 model year and was released in the United States for the 2015 model year.
In 2019, GM released the replacement of the Trax for China and Latin America, the Tracker. The first-generation Trax continued to be marketed in North America, South Korea, and several other markets until 2022, when it was replaced by the larger second-generation Trax due for the 2024 model year. The second-generation Trax is also marketed in China as the Chevrolet Seeker.

- Summary: My car’s engine started to get loud one day and would run roughly as I drive. I got it check and the service center couldn’t find the issue as the car was good on all its fluids and there weren’t any leaks anywhere. Then some days passed and my vehicle started to slow down drastically on a highway (speed limit of 65) and my car would struggle to accelerate and so I was forced to switch from the middle lanes on the left to the lane all the way in the right, it was very difficult to do so as cars were passing me at high speeds. My car was struggling to accelerate and the engine started running rough. The engine light then came on. So I got it checked ant a local service center and I was told my turbocharger had to be replaced as it malfunctioned somehow. I can’t drive my car as it would be traveling way below the speed limit. I did not bring it to my dealer yet.

- Summary: Chevrolet had a recall (N232395330) for 2018 Trax models due to a problem with the turbocharger. For whatever reason, Chevrolet did not include all 2018 Trax models, and omitted ours. The turbocharger on ours failed, causing an oil problem and substantial damage to the engine (and, possibly, other parts), with an estimated $12,500 cost to repair. We have tried to work with both Chevrolet (case number X-XXX) and a local dealership (Tim Lally Chevrolet in Warrensville Heights, Ohio). Both are denying any liability for the problem. However, if Chevrolet had properly included all 2018 Trax models, and provided us with knowledge of the problem with the turbocharger, it would have been repaired without the substantial damage caused by Chevrolet's under reporting of the affected vehicles. The day of the problem, the Trax lost most power and did not indicate any oil issue. How does one get Chevrolet held responsible for the damage done because they under reported the affected vehicles? - Summary: The driver information center in the cluster intermittently goes completely black or glitches while driving. It will go into all white dots, completely black out, or be garbled. You lose the ability to monitor your speed digitally and it causes issues with safety because it will change in and out at random times and you are forced to change your attention to the needle instead of focusing on the road. No warning lamps or trouble codes present. I have not contacted the manufacturer but have had a mechanic inspect it and he cannot find a cause but thinks possibly is an electric short or fault module. This began happening in June 2024 and is now getting worse and very unreliable.

- Summary: I am not sure of what actual component(s) failed, but I do know that a brake line that had braided steel broke and spewed brake fluid failed- this line comes off the master cylinder to ABS module. Mechanic attempted replacement and there is still no pressure in the brake line. Mechanic believes it is the brake booster now that caused the line failure to occur. The vehicle and components are available for inspection. What happened was that when I was driving on a city road at 35 MPH, a vehicle in front of me was driving reckless and when I changed lanes I approached a traffic signal that changed to yellow and when I went to slow i felt a pop in the brake pedal and the pedal went all the way to the floor and i was unable to stop when the light changed to red and rolled through the intersection. I was able to finally stop approximately 300 feet after applying the brakes. There were no warning indicators or lamps that illuminated prior to this occurring and as a result of the brake failure a collision was narrowly avoided.

This is a great little rig! It's so easy to get in and out of, perfect for zipping around town, in and out of traffic, and parking in tight spots. It has plenty of pep to get it up and going, and the fuel economy is good. Although the Bluetooth system is not the best, it's still a great car. For example, if you remote start the car then get in and go a few minutes later, the Bluetooth will not automatically link up with your device. However, you can easily initiate the connection through your phone. I've had many vehicles with Bluetooth, and this is the first one that has required a forced connection when using remote start. This only happens when you use the remote start feature and not when you get in, start, and go. There is only 1 USB port, and it's in the little upper glove box. It's not really a big deal until you want to have your device somewhere other than shut in the little glove box. There is no route for the cord to exit the little glove box with the door shut without feeling like you are pinching the cord. However, this seems to have been fixed with the 2017 model refresh. The fit and finish are as expected or better for a vehicle of this price point. It's definitely worth a look if you are in the market for a small SUV.

The car has been trouble-free since the turbo was replaced. In the city, it averages around 25 miles per gallon, while on the highway it gets 30 miles per gallon. It is important to ensure that the car size is suitable for your needs. We carefully considered the size of the car and its intended use. We are surprised by the negative reviews as the car seems to be well-built. Although it may not be the fastest car, it handles well. The transmission works well, but it tends to stay in a high gear to maximize fuel efficiency. After three weeks, we are still happy with our decision to buy it for my wife. However, we did experience some issues with the check engine light coming on twice. The first time, it was fixed by replacing a sensor. Unfortunately, the second time, we discovered that the turbo had blown and the part is currently on backorder for over 40 days. We are still waiting for the part.

I recently purchased the 2024 Chevrolet Trax and I absolutely love it! Not only is it an economical car that's great on gas, but the new sleek design and all the features you get at such a reasonable price is amazing! I got the 1LT and it already had so many extras like heated seats, heated steering wheel, lane change alert, rear cross traffic alert, keyless open, all weather floor liners, cargo tray, and the list goes on. The 11 inch infotainment screen is also a great feature that works seamlessly. It drives like a charm! I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I purchased my first brand new car, a 202 Chevrolet Trax AWD, on February 4th, 2020. Unfortunately, I have had some issues with the vehicle that have been frustrating. At 1200 miles, the check engine light came on and the car shut off on me in the middle of a blizzard on the interstate in Wyoming. The dealership in Wyoming replaced my fuel filter, but the issue persisted. Despite this, the dealership did not provide me with a loaner car, which was covered under my warranty. When I picked up my car a few days later, it still wouldn't start. The dealership took it back into service and charged me $130 to drain my fuel, claiming it wasn't covered under my bumper to bumper warranty. Although I was disappointed, I was glad to have my car back. However, it still wasn't running right and I had to take it to a local dealership in Texas. They were able to fix the issue with the turbo charger, but unfortunately, the stalling issue and clanking noise still persisted. I hope to get these issues resolved soon.I had to take my car back to the shop again. It was there for 5 days and apparently had eroded spark plugs, even though it's a brand new car. Unfortunately, after only 7 days of having it back, it started stalling so badly that I almost got into an accident on Highway 75 in Dallas with my child in the back seat. I'm disappointed in GM and Chevy for making such a poor quality vehicle and for their service departments treating me like I'm stupid just because I'm a woman. They've refused to look into the issue even though I've brought it to their attention numerous times. My car has now been back in the shop for a week, and unfortunately, I haven't received any communication from the service department. I hope GM and Chevy will take responsibility for their actions and treat their customers with the respect they deserve. As a mother, I'm concerned for my child's safety and I hope they will take this issue seriously. This is my first brand new vehicle and it has been a disappointing experience so far.

If you're in the market for an SUV that comes in a small package, the Trax is definitely worth considering. It offers good visibility, a relatively comfortable ride, and more space than a compact sedan. While the acceleration may not be the fastest, the Trax still provides adequate access to the rear seats and enough room for your groceries and packages. Although the engine may be a bit underpowered, it's still a solid choice. While there may be competitors that do the compact SUV better, the Trax is a great option if you're a Chevy fan.

I really wanted to love the Trax CUV, but after test driving it, I had to pass. In 2013, I test drove an Encore and loved it, but unfortunately, the price was too high. Fast forward to 2015, I couldn't wait to get behind the wheel of the Trax. However, I found that the LT model, which costs just shy of $25k, lacks features for a mid $20k CUV. Additionally, the interior is made of hard plastic, which makes it feel like a much cheaper car. The controls felt cheap and toy-like, which was disappointing. Although driving it wasn't a bad experience, it still needs a larger engine with more power. The transmission shifts pretty well, but the car struggles when accelerating. The seats are not very comfortable and there is only one narrow armrest for the front passengers, which is a shame. This CUV is probably the smallest of the group, and the back seats are cumbersome and require folding the bottom cushion first, then removing the headrests, and then you may fold the seat back. The tech is decent, even good at times, and Mylink is a great system. Overall, I'm sure anyone would be happy with it, but ultimately it falls short of its competition. My advice would be to drive them all and then make your decision.

You can tell it's a compact economical crossover. When you get inside, the interior looks great! The seat fabric is comfortable, the plastic for the dash and interior bits is nicely styled and put together, and it has some interesting quirks inside. However, upon closer inspection, there are some things that can be a bit frustrating. For example, there is no rear visibility in this car. The whole back end is like one giant blind spot. Although it does have a rear camera, some people may find it difficult to use. Likewise, while driving forward, the rear pillar causes a huge blind spot that can make it difficult to look behind you to make sure the driver side is clear for a lane change. You can only use the mirror. Also, in regards to the interior, the rear cargo area isn't as big as it seems. It's a bit disappointing but understandable. Moving on to the exterior, the tall stance of the car makes you feel happy. You have a little SUV, until you pull up to a parking stone. The front end of this car is so low that you may scrape it and pull off the front air deflector if you pull all the way up to a parking stone. The gas mileage on this car shows as 24mpg city, and they weren't kidding. This car does not deviate. You get 24mg. On mixed driving, you still get 24 according to the dash. I have a feeling that the computer is really good at managing this engine. The shifting on this car can be a bit choppy, but overall it's a decent car. However, it's worth noting that apparently this engine is known for EVAP failures.I hope you're doing well! I wanted to let you know that I've had some experience with the unit I'm currently writing about. I've had to replace the vent solenoid, and I've noticed some seepage coming from the water pump area, so I suspect that will need to be replaced soon. Unfortunately, I've also noticed some rust on the body panels under the hood, away from the water pump. It's disappointing that this car is only 4 years old with 60,000 miles on it, but I'm confident that we can find a solution. While I wouldn't necessarily recommend this car to everyone, I think it's important to consider all options before making a decision. My new car had a few issues that needed to be addressed, such as the battery dying and the fan malfunctioning. Despite being under warranty, the service department initially refused to help. However, I persisted and was able to get the issues fixed. While the car is good on gas, I would not purchase it again due to these problems.
