The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge-engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs and other trucks from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their "Blazer" and "Jimmy" nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the "Yukon" in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer the "new Blazer," while renaming the full-size Blazer as the "Tahoe." The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States, and was originally used as a trim level on S-10 models. The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.
For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.
The Tahoe has regularly been the best-selling full-size SUV in the United States, frequently outselling its competition by two to one.

- Summary: I Keep getting code p2138 car stalls check engine light turns on, stability control flashes. I have to erase code to get it drive again, but will do it again soon. Been doing it for 4+ years now. The worst time it has done it is when I'm in the freeway where I have to pull off to the side if I can, I almost got into a bad accident because of this issue. Took it to my mechanic and he says take it to the dealer. I've replaced gas pedal, throttle body and it still does it.

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed driving this vehicle, especially during the summer of '08 when gas prices were high. It has a comfortable ride, spacious interior, and remains quiet even after 45,000 miles. Although there were some issues with the hybrid transmission failing and requiring extra service three times, it's great to hear that the dealer was able to quickly repair it each time. It's definitely worth the hassle to get such excellent mileage from a full-sized SUV.

Your 2001 Chevy Tahoe was a great car, but have you checked out the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid? It's amazing! We call it the magic carpet ride because it's so smooth and comfortable. You won't even notice the wind noise and the power is fantastic for a full-size SUV. We recently took it on a 180-mile trip pulling our 6,000lb boat and trailer, and it was a breeze! We arrived feeling as if we hadn't even been towing anything. In comparison, my 2003 Dodge 2500 with Hemi engine beats us to death and doesn't pull the trailer with the same ease as this vehicle. Plus, we got between 12.5 and 14.3 MPG, which is much better than the 9.5 MPG we get with the truck. You'll love it!

This car has performed exceptionally well. We have been able to tow a large ski boat without any issues and still maintain around 14 mpg. During regular driving, we get around 23 mpg. We have only experienced a few minor issues in the past year and a half, including power door lock and two recalls. As one of the first purchasers of this vehicle in the area, it was normal to experience one or two recalls. The only improvements we made were adding headrest monitors, a transmission cooler, and removing the hybrid decals. Overall, this car was worth every penny and has saved me a lot of money on gas compared to my old Tahoe.

This large 8 SUV is everything you could dream of. It rides smoothly and is incredibly quiet! The cabin is spacious and the seating is comfortable. The Hybrid model is fully loaded with finely appointed leather seats, power options, navigation, and a DVD player. With Hybrid technology, you can save a lot of money on gas! Compared to my previous Nissan Pathfinder SE (V6), the Tahoe uses only half the amount of gas. On average, this Hybrid Tahoe gives you 20 miles per gallon. The warranty from GM is excellent and the handling is good overall. You should definitely test drive it, you will be pleasantly surprised. I love my Tahoe!

I recently purchased a 2010 Tahoe Hybrid (my third car) with 130K miles and a 6.0L V8 engine. Unfortunately, after driving it for only 3000 miles, the motor broke down. Cylinder 1 & 6 have no compression and the lifters collapsed. While I usually don't buy American cars, this experience has reminded me why. Despite the truck's immaculate body and interior, I now need to find a replacement motor. It's disappointing that American car companies produce such unreliable vehicles. In my opinion, German and Japanese automakers are far superior in terms of longevity. It's a real shame that American car companies haven't learned how to build cars that last.

Additionally, if you encounter a faulty hybrid generator (battery pack) like I did, it can be quite problematic. Despite several attempts to have it replaced under warranty, GM provided various excuses as to why it wasn't the battery pack. Unfortunately, once the warranty expired, the cost of a new battery pack was around $5k. The battery pack controls everything, so when it fails, everything will run intermittently, which can be quite costly and unsafe. For instance, the computer that controls the interchange between gas and electric motors may cut the car off when you try to go after stops for lifts or signs, causing you to cut off intersections and sometimes in slow or stop-no-go traffic. Mine has even cut off when crossing intersections with vehicles coming. To avoid this, I have to hold down the brake and rev the gas, which defeats the purpose of the hybrid because you still burn the extra fuel. Overall, it's important to consider these factors before making a purchase.

I traded in a BMW 745i for this vehicle because I needed more space and a 3rd row of seats. At first, I was thrilled with my new purchase, but unfortunately, I've had some issues with it. Every time I fill up the gas tank, the truck misses and won't run properly. I discovered that there was something wrong with the gas tank that allowed it to fill up too much. Additionally, a sensor went out, which caused me to almost not stop in a parking lot. The hybrid system in the transmission also went out, and now my driver's side rear door won't open. I'm taking it in for repairs tomorrow. Lastly, I've noticed that I only average 16mpg in the city, which is nowhere near the 21mpg advertised on the sticker when I bought it.
