Overview
The Trailblazer was launched on April 16, 2019, at the 18th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition alongside the Tracker, that replaced the outgoing Trax. Developed by GM Korea, the Trailblazer is assembled in Incheon, South Korea, while the Chinese-market model is produced in Yantai, Shandong, China, by SAIC-GM.
The Trailblazer made its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2019, and sales began in early 2020 as a 2021 model year vehicle. There are five trim levels available: L, LS, LT, Activ, and RS. The latter two came standard with dual exhaust and top of the line features. The Activ and RS models also feature a contrasting color roof.
It was launched in the Philippines in October 2021. Imported from South Korea, it notably reused the nameplate from the previous Colorado-based Trailblazer which was discontinued in the same year.
On January 16, 2020, the Trailblazer was launched in South Korea. The Korean-market model is larger in dimension than Trailblazers sold in other markets, with a length of 4,425 mm (174.2 in) and width of 1,810 mm (71.3 in).

- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I have a 2023 trailblazer rs bought brand new. Currently has 12776 miles on it and for atleast the last 5000 miles I've noticed the breaks squeeling. Esp when I'm going slow speeds. I first thought maybe it was the weather or something. Moisture..whatever because this car is so new I just brushed it off. But it has progressively gotten worse and louder. Which is super frustrating when I'm picking my kids up in the pick up line and my car sounds 15+ years old when I'm rolling through and have to keep breaking. Squeeling in mine and everyone else's ear. I want this looked into a fixed. I had 2 kias before this that the engines blew from recalls they didn't wanna fix until it was to late. I'm a single mom who pays way to much to have a nice reliable car for there to be having issues already. I will be bringing it up to the dealership at my upcoming oil change. I refuse to be worried about the safety or reliability of this expensive new car..hauling my kids around.
Chevrolet Trailblazer 2021
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-17
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-21
- VIN: KL79MPSL5MB
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: When attempting to park the car I am able to shift into park, however, I get a message on the dashboard to “shift to park”. Dashboard also shows a “p” to reflect car is in park creating a contradiction on the dashboard of displayed items. When this occurs the car will not shut off. Dealer service has indicated this is not producing an error code, they have had many complaints, and the issue is not covered by power train warranty and part is back ordered. I am very concerned about the safety of my vehicle given the indicated failures of the shifting mechanism and Chevrolets inability to remedy the issue due to unavailable parts.

- Date Complaint: 2024-10-18

- Summary: After placing the vehicle in park I get the “shift to park error”. I can’t leave the vehicle, or lock it. It can take any where from 5 to thirty minutes for it to actually read the shift. My car is now not reading my key 80% percent of the time. The vehicle turns off while driving down the road. Saying no “remote detected”. The key has been locked in the Car twice. Which should be impossible. I’ve been stranded outside of my vehicle at night in Atlanta for long periods of time. Trying to get the vehicle to unlock because it is not reading the key.

- Date Complaint: 2024-10-10
- VIN: KL79MUSL9NB
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: For about a month now my vehicle is telling me to put it in park when it is already in park. Have to restart multiple times and go through all the gears put it back in park turn it off and still get the "shift to park" error. It does not happen every time I use my vehicle, but it happens so much I am unsure if it is safe to use. Even though it shows it is in park I wonder is it really? I have called the dealer where I purchased it for them to look at it and they will not even schedule an appointment because they say the parts are on back order and they have no idea when they will get them. This is the first brand new car I have purchased and after having a lot of secondhand vehicles I went back to Chevy. I am very disappointed in Chevy it only has 23000 miles on it, and they are not doing anything to fix this, I would not recommend Chevy/GMC to anyone.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my new car. I got it over the weekend and I'm absolutely loving it! I traded in my 2019 Kia Sportage for it. I have the 1.3 engine with FWD and I recently took it on a road trip of approximately 480 miles. I was able to average 30.4 mpg while doing 80 on the interstate. Even when going through the mountains, I never felt like it was underpowered.

The 2008 model has not undergone many changes, but it remains a fun and comfortable muscle-truck. The throttle response is strong at all rpm ranges, making for an enjoyable drive. The sport-tuned suspension is tight, giving the impression of driving a much lower car. The sound of the Corvette LS-2 engine is noticeable at idle and even more so at high rpm. The full-option electronic interior, with heated seats and leather/suede wrapping, provides a sense of luxury that most GM SUVs do not offer. Overall, the SS boasts sporty exterior and interior styling, powerful horsepower, and a tight suspension, with the added luxury of the interior making it appealing even to standard SUV fans.

First TB was 02, and didn't like 4.2. Was traded for 04 Tahoe that was great, but I was offered special incentives to trade on a 08TB 5.3, and have enjoyed it ever since. MPG average is about 18.2 and seems to improve with middle grade 89.

I completely agree that some people tend to rate the Trailblazer (and other vehicles) based on what it is not, rather than what it is. I also think that comparing it to the Trailblazers of the past is not fair, as this is a completely different vehicle. For some background, I previously owned a 2021 Trailblazer RS and really enjoyed it. However, I decided to sell it not because of any issues with the vehicle, but because I wanted to avoid having a monthly payment. I have since realized that if I want a reliable vehicle, I will have to make payments. Last year, I purchased a 2023 Equinox, which is a nice and capable vehicle, but I still missed my Trailblazer. I tried to find a new Trailblazer, but there were none available in my area at the time. Fortunately, a dealership contacted me in December 2022 to let me know that they had a Trailblazer Activ arriving in two hours. I did not think it would be possible to trade without being upside down, but they offered me what I paid for the Equinox and gave me a good deal on the Trailblazer. Now, I am the proud owner of a 2023 Trailblazer Activ and I absolutely love it! To me, the Trailblazer is a unique, fun-to-drive, and sharp-looking vehicle. I have had multiple people approach me to ask about it because it caught their eye. Although the Trailblazer is slightly smaller than the Equinox, it is more comfortable to me. I understand that some people complain about the small armrest, but I personally like its size. I appreciate having the extra pocket to store items that are between the cup holder and the armrest. If the armrest were bigger, it would not allow for the extra pocket. The door pockets are larger than those in some other vehicles, and there are a few other convenient storage areas. While some parts of the interior may feel a bit cheap, I think that is true for most vehicles in this price range. Overall, I really like the styling of the Trailblazer interior; it is very nice.I don't expect to win any races with the Trailblazer, but it's perfect for my daily needs. I don't need to pull a large trailer, go from 0-60 mph in 3 seconds, or haul 8 people. It's a small compact SUV, but I'm surprised at how much room it has. My wife and I recently took it on a 600-mile round trip and we were both comfortable. I get an average of 30-33 miles to the gallon, depending on how much highway driving I do. Sometimes I would look down and be going 80-85 mph without even realizing it! I have both the RS and Activ, but I feel the Activ ride is a little better than the RS. There is supposed to be a difference in the suspension from what I read, but both are adequate. There is some road noise, but it's not deafening or aggravating. My Activ is loaded with all the features I need, including wireless Apple Carplay and great safety features. While there are other competent vehicles out there, I'm very happy with my Chevy Trailblazer! I highly recommend checking one out, and if you're in the Nashville, TN area, I recommend seeing Torrie at Freeland Chevy. She was a great help! Don't forget to tell her I sent you!

I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy this vehicle. We were looking for a car that was easy to drive, had all-wheel drive, and was relatively fuel-efficient. While I didn't try any of the Hyundai or Kia alternatives due to past negative experiences, I did test drive the Toyota CHR and Honda HRV. While I liked both, I ultimately chose the Chevy because I preferred its exterior styling. This is my first Chevy and after 9 months, I'm still very happy with it. The little 3cyl engine is surprisingly powerful (seriously, it's very adequate) and I'm currently enjoying an average of 33 mpg. I haven't experienced any mechanical or quality issues so far.

There's a vast improvement in interior volume compared to the Blazer. However, the new engine doesn't feel like it's unleashing its full 270 hp potential. Unfortunately, the build quality still seems to be questionable. I've had some electrical problems with mine and just yesterday it left me stranded on the side of the road due to an electronic malfunction. Starting to think it might be a Ford issue.

Hi there! I recently purchased a used Chevy and unfortunately ran into some trouble with the transmission after only a few months. Despite the low mileage and great condition of the car, it was a bit of a disappointment. While Chevy doesn't offer a 5 year warranty on the power train of the Trailblazer like some of its competitors, they did split the cost with me which was appreciated. If you're considering this car, I would highly recommend investing in a good extended warranty just to be safe. Thanks for reading!

I purchased a 2002 car in February 2009, but unfortunately, by May, I had to spend $1,500 on a new electrical system. The car started experiencing strange electrical issues and eventually got to a point where it wouldn't start, despite the battery being fine. We took it to a GM dealership for repairs, but unfortunately, after 7 months, we are back to where we started, $1,500 poorer. It's frustrating and disappointing for customers. Where is the customer loyalty?

Hello! I have a 2021 Chevy Trailblazer with around 29,000 miles on it. Lately, I've been experiencing some trouble with the Reduced Engine Power light and the check engine light coming on, which has limited my speed to 35 mph. I've taken my car to two different Chevy dealerships, but unfortunately, they haven't been able to find any codes to diagnose the issue. Even though the lights go off, they come back on after a few weeks. The dealerships have reached out to GM for assistance, but we're still at a loss as to what to do next. It's been in the shop for 18 days now, and I'm starting to feel a bit frustrated. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do next? Thank you for your help!

In the past year, our Trailblazer has unfortunately been in the shop 18 times due to various issues, including A/C problems that GM has refused to work on under warranty, 4-wheel drive that has not worked in 5000 miles, and no brake lights on 3 separate occasions. Additionally, there have been 5 recalls. As a big GM fan and technician, it pains me to say that my review can be shortened to one word: 'lemon'.
