Common Chevrolet Blazer problems

The Chevrolet Blazer has faced a number of common problems over the years, particularly in relation to its engine and fuel system. According to CarParts.com, the most commonly reported issue is a faulty fuel gauge, which tends to show up in the 2000 Blazer. This can lead to issues with fuel consumption and accuracy, causing inconvenience and potential safety risks for drivers.

Another common problem with the Chevrolet Blazer is fuel pump failure, which can affect the engine's ability to run smoothly. This issue has been reported in various model years, including 2005 and 1990-2005.

The distributor is another component that has caused issues for Chevrolet Blazer owners. In particular, internal defects within the 2001 Chevy Blazer distributor can affect the way the engine operates, causing it to run roughly or stall. Drivers may be forced to overhaul the distributor or replace the faulty ignition part as soon as possible to resolve this issue.

In addition to these engine and fuel system issues, the Chevrolet Blazer has also faced problems with its electrical system. For example, a "Shift to Park" error message has been reported in the 2019 redesign, which is usually accompanied by other problems like an activated horn, defective door locks, and a malfunctioning electrical system.

The 2004 Chevrolet Blazer has been identified as the model year that received the most overall complaints, while the 1994 Blazer was considered the worst model year for various problems.

In summary, the Chevrolet Blazer has faced a number of common problems over the years, particularly in relation to its engine and fuel system. These issues can cause inconvenience and potential safety risks for drivers, and may require costly repairs or replacements. It is important for Chevrolet Blazer owners to be aware of these common problems and to take steps to maintain their vehicles properly to help prevent them.

Chevrolet Blazer 2021
  • Date Of Incident: 2024-10-17
  • Date Complaint: 2024-10-17
  • VIN: 3GNKBKRSXMS
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: The Radiator has a crack in the upper left front of the core causing the fluid to leak and lose pressure causing the engine to overheat. This is a manufacture defect that has not been addressed as of 10/16/2024. The leak was discovered by a certified GM mechanic at a dealership when doing routine maintenance and inspection. The vehicle has never had any indication or advisory light that would alert the operator. As the engine overheats it can cause many of the other components of the vehicle to disable, including but not limited to the ADAS systems as well as power steering and/or collision safety components. This is a manufactures defect with the aluminum radiator that needs to be addressed immediately. Given the information from multiple GM dealerships the amount of newer low mileage Blazers that have been confronted with this problem is unprecedented. This not only creates a danger for the passengers of the vehicle but also every other vehicle on the road.

Less than 1 yr later, thermostat is stuck on cold, no ax or heat, drivers assist reduced notice. Same issues as previous documented complaints. The frustration is why this known issue is not covered under warranty or recall! I just had my 50k maintenance service done while this issue was occurring- service told me “well we cleared the codes” , 2 days later check engine is on, temp stuck on cold, fan is over worked and no a/c or heat- and driver assist turns off. The safety issues around causing more engine damage by improper cooling and reduction of driving assistance. Additionally, parking issue with vehicle not recognizing it’s in park and having to wiggle or jam the shifter- car drains battery and won’t lock until resolved. Car is took expensive to have a $1200 replacement not covered under warranty!

Chevrolet Blazer 2019
  • Date Of Incident: 2024-09-21
  • Date Complaint: 2024-09-26
  • VIN: 3GNKBBRA9KS
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: My 2019 Blazer won't shut off the electrical system because of a "shift to park" error. This causes a drain to the battery and could leave me stranded. The problem is simple electrical switch that is not making the connection to tell the car to shut off. This is a well documented problem with chevy vehicles in the late 2010s and includes multiple models. I have not had the problem verified by a Chevrolet dealer. I've reviewed multipe youtube videos that has had 10s of thousands of views which demonstrates the problem is very wide spread. Why is this not being recalled?
Chevrolet Blazer 2019
  • Date Of Incident: 2024-09-24
  • Date Complaint: 2024-09-26
  • VIN: 3GNKBERS1KS
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: When placing the vehicle in the park position and attempting to shut the vehicle off with the push button my DIC flashes a message stating to 'shift vehicle into park'. I have to move the shifter from park to another gear several times in order to keep this from appearing and allowing me to turn my vehicle off. I can take up to 5-6 times before I can get the vehicle to allow me to turn it off. I'm not really sure if it is or isn't in park even when I do this at that point. I have had this happen on multiple occasions over multiple months.
Chevrolet Blazer 2020
  • Date Of Incident: 2024-09-24
  • Date Complaint: 2024-09-25
  • VIN: 3GNKBCR47LS
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: 2020 Chevy Blazer - Shift to Park while Gear is already in Park: While putting the gear in park, the warning chime to shift it into park is initiated. It has happened 3 to 4 times in the past three days. I took the vehicle to the Local Chevy Dealership. The Service Team/Dept. diagnosed that the Transmission Shifter Unit Assembly must be replaced. The 2019 Chevy Blazer had these issues which prompted a TSB/Recall however it wasn't extended to the 2020-year models and Chevy Dealership refused to include it as a warranted repair which just passed 44,000 miles. This is a safety issue, and it should be replaced without additional cost to customer as this issue was already identified as a safety concern in 2019, however Chevy does not want to identify the issue as a covered repair per the manufactures warranty.

  • Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tires, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 22, 2021. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N212329050.

I purchased this truck three years ago, but unfortunately, I have had a lot of issues with it. The transmission failed, which cost me $2000 to repair. Then, over the course of a year, every front suspension part broke one at a time. Once all the parts were replaced, the factory weld failed in two places by the front left tire. Additionally, I had problems with the cooling system. It turns out that Chevy put out a tech memo acknowledging that they messed up the cooling system, but they only fixed selected models, and unfortunately, mine wasn't one of them. Slowly, all of the parts of the cooling system started to fail, including the intake gasket, the heater core, the thermostat, and more. I ended up spending thousands of dollars on repairs. I would not recommend this truck to anyone. Also, the tires are never on sale.

I regret my decision to purchase a Chevy as my experience has been less than satisfactory. Despite paying $21K for the vehicle, its current resale value is only $7K, which is significantly lower than comparable vehicles that are selling for $14K. The vehicle had a major leak during the first week of ownership, which was a red flag. Although the warranty covered some of the issues initially, I have had to pay over $400 this year alone due to the $100 deductible on my extended warranty. The vehicle has had multiple issues, including leaks, serpentine belt replacements, malfunctioning window motors, and faulty windshield wiper gadgets. Additionally, the 2-door design makes it difficult to access the back, and the large spare tire obstructs visibility. Despite these challenges, I remain confident in my ability to make informed decisions about future vehicle purchases.

I completely agree with all the positive comments about these series ('95-'04) Blazers. I've driven quite a few vehicles in my life and this second hand, high mileage Blazer I bought continues to impress me. It has been incredibly reliable, so far, with its original exhaust and 210,000 miles.

The 04 Chevy Blazer is affordable, but it has some reliability issues. The style has remained unchanged since 2000. I have had to replace the brakes numerous times, ball joints, engine sensor (2x), oil coil line, and there is a smell of anti-freeze despite no leaks. Additionally, the 4WD switch went out, which is a common issue. I perform regular maintenance, but since purchasing it in 2006 with 25K miles on it, I have estimated that I have put close to $3000 in repairs, parts, and labor. The trade-in value is not great, so I will need to keep it until the last loan payment to get a good trade-in value.

Hey there! I recently purchased a 95 Blazer LT with 123K miles on it. So far, I've only had to fix the brakes and replace two rotors. However, I have noticed that the engine seems to lack power and the MPG is only around 16-17, which is a bit of a bummer. Despite that, my Blazer has performed well overall and currently has 138K miles on it.

The ride is really smooth and comfortable. The handling is very responsive and quick. I recently traded my 2019 Impala Premier for this 2022 Blazer RS because I needed to be able to tow a trailer. I absolutely love the distinctive look of the blacked-out emblems and 20

I have the 2LT Blazer with the 2.0 Turbo. I also had a 2018 Equinox with the same engine. Despite the Blazer having 24 less HP, it still has impressive acceleration. The handling is excellent and the vehicle control systems can be adjusted to different road conditions. While the ride may not be the smoothest, it is perfectly fine for me. I really appreciate all the safety systems. When I was looking for a new vehicle, engine performance, handling, and safety features were my top priorities. My Blazer has the Redline Edition Package and it looks amazing. I am extremely happy with my purchase. I have driven 12,000 miles so far and my Blazer is still performing well. I am averaging 28.7 mpg and I love how the SUV handles. The safety features have been very useful. Overall, I am very satisfied.

I used to own a 2018 GMC Terrain with the 1.5L Turbocharged 4 cylinder, but unfortunately, I had a bad experience with it due to the massive turbo lag. Despite addressing my concerns with local dealers, most of them dismissed my complaints, except for one who suggested that it was due to the way I drove the vehicle. However, with 44,000km on the odometer, I found this hard to believe. But let's talk about the BLAZER now. During my test drive, I instantly fell in love with it and decided to pass on a Terrain Denali for this beauty. The V6 engine provides me with over 300HP, which makes merging a breeze. The Blazer responds with adequate power as soon as I hit the accelerator, making me feel comfortable driving around the city and on the highway. The only downside is that it lacks some safety features that I consider essential, such as Lane Keep Assist, Collision Avoidance, and Adaptive Cruise. I hope GM will start adding these features across the entire line up soon. The seats are pretty comfortable, and the cabin is rather welcoming, with lots of space for traveling with friends and family. They love that you can recline and move the seat back and forth for more legroom. My Blazer is equipped with the Continental ContiCrossContact tires, and even though they are all seasons, I find it handles confidently in all weather conditions. I am getting lots of looks when I am driving around, and I am sure people are caught off guard initially with the name badge 'Blazer,' especially with the new look. So far, I am super happy with my purchase, and the gas mileage has been pretty reasonable as well, considering how much fun I have been having driving it around, even sometimes utilizing the AWD Sports Mode haha. I highly recommend taking one for a drive yourself and experiencing what the Blazer is really all about.

I am very happy with my purchase and have been receiving many compliments on its appearance. The car drives well, although the steering is a bit tight, which may be due to its reaction when crossing over the line on the road. However, it is reassuring to know that the car will automatically steer you back into the lane. Although there was a learning curve with all the safety features, I had no issues once I became familiar with them. It is a pleasure to drive in both the city and the mountains, and it has plenty of power when needed. The interior has a neat and clean look.

Hey there! I just wanted to share my experience with this amazing truck that I bought back in 2008 for a little over 2000 dollars. It only needed a relatively inexpensive egr valve fix and since then, it has been incredibly reliable and efficient. I mostly drive on backroads and hardly ever on highways, and it only costs me about 20 bucks to fill up each week. I would definitely recommend this truck to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient ride. Plus, its 4x4 system is simply great! I have driven it in 6 inches of snow and even pulled a few Toyotas out of ditches in the rain and ice, and I have no complaints about its power or ability. Thanks for reading!
