Common Chevrolet Blazer problems
The Chevrolet Blazer has faced a number of common problems over the years, particularly in relation to its engine and fuel system. According to CarParts.com, the most commonly reported issue is a faulty fuel gauge, which tends to show up in the 2000 Blazer. This can lead to issues with fuel consumption and accuracy, causing inconvenience and potential safety risks for drivers.
Another common problem with the Chevrolet Blazer is fuel pump failure, which can affect the engine's ability to run smoothly. This issue has been reported in various model years, including 2005 and 1990-2005.
The distributor is another component that has caused issues for Chevrolet Blazer owners. In particular, internal defects within the 2001 Chevy Blazer distributor can affect the way the engine operates, causing it to run roughly or stall. Drivers may be forced to overhaul the distributor or replace the faulty ignition part as soon as possible to resolve this issue.
In addition to these engine and fuel system issues, the Chevrolet Blazer has also faced problems with its electrical system. For example, a "Shift to Park" error message has been reported in the 2019 redesign, which is usually accompanied by other problems like an activated horn, defective door locks, and a malfunctioning electrical system.
The 2004 Chevrolet Blazer has been identified as the model year that received the most overall complaints, while the 1994 Blazer was considered the worst model year for various problems.
In summary, the Chevrolet Blazer has faced a number of common problems over the years, particularly in relation to its engine and fuel system. These issues can cause inconvenience and potential safety risks for drivers, and may require costly repairs or replacements. Chevrolet Blazer 2021
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-17
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-17
- VIN: 3GNKBKRSXMS
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: The Radiator has a crack in the upper left front of the core causing the fluid to leak and lose pressure causing the engine to overheat. This is a manufacture defect that has not been addressed as of 10/16/2024. The leak was discovered by a certified GM mechanic at a dealership when doing routine maintenance and inspection. The vehicle has never had any indication or advisory light that would alert the operator. As the engine overheats it can cause many of the other components of the vehicle to disable, including but not limited to the ADAS systems as well as power steering and/or collision safety components. This is a manufactures defect with the aluminum radiator that needs to be addressed immediately. Given the information from multiple GM dealerships the amount of newer low mileage Blazers that have been confronted with this problem is unprecedented. This not only creates a danger for the passengers of the vehicle but also every other vehicle on the road.

Chevrolet Blazer 2019

- Date Complaint: 2024-09-26
- VIN: 3GNKBBRA9KS
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: My 2019 Blazer won't shut off the electrical system because of a "shift to park" error. This causes a drain to the battery and could leave me stranded. The problem is simple electrical switch that is not making the connection to tell the car to shut off. This is a well documented problem with chevy vehicles in the late 2010s and includes multiple models. I have not had the problem verified by a Chevrolet dealer. I've reviewed multipe youtube videos that has had 10s of thousands of views which demonstrates the problem is very wide spread. Why is this not being recalled?
Chevrolet Blazer 2019
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-24
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-26
- VIN: 3GNKBERS1KS
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: When placing the vehicle in the park position and attempting to shut the vehicle off with the push button my DIC flashes a message stating to 'shift vehicle into park'. I have to move the shifter from park to another gear several times in order to keep this from appearing and allowing me to turn my vehicle off. I can take up to 5-6 times before I can get the vehicle to allow me to turn it off. I'm not really sure if it is or isn't in park even when I do this at that point. I have had this happen on multiple occasions over multiple months.
Chevrolet Blazer 2020
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-24
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-25
- VIN: 3GNKBCR47LS
- Components: POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: 2020 Chevy Blazer - Shift to Park while Gear is already in Park: While putting the gear in park, the warning chime to shift it into park is initiated. It has happened 3 to 4 times in the past three days. I took the vehicle to the Local Chevy Dealership. The Service Team/Dept. diagnosed that the Transmission Shifter Unit Assembly must be replaced. The 2019 Chevy Blazer had these issues which prompted a TSB/Recall however it wasn't extended to the 2020-year models and Chevy Dealership refused to include it as a warranted repair which just passed 44,000 miles. This is a safety issue, and it should be replaced without additional cost to customer as this issue was already identified as a safety concern in 2019, however Chevy does not want to identify the issue as a covered repair per the manufactures warranty.

UPDATE: Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with my 2023 Blazer 3LT. It's been an absolute pleasure to drive! I went for the V6 option and it's been amazing on the California freeways - so much power and speed! The handling is also really smooth and reliable. And let's talk about features - there are tons! Don't listen to the reviewers who said there wasn't enough storage - the Blazer has plenty of room! And if you lay down the rear seats, you get even more space. I also opted for the 20” silver wheels, black bowties and black front grill bar, which really make it stand out. The interior is elegant, super comfortable, and the entertainment system is top notch. Plus, you get 3 free months of Sirius, which has more channels than you'll ever need. The only downsides are that ventilated seats are only available in the Premier trim, and black is the only interior color option until the Premiere trim. I switched from a 2015 Hyundai Tucson to the Chevy Blazer and I'm so glad I did! Chevy has been really comprehensive with additional info and contact, and they offer ongoing specials on accessories, service, etc. They really make you feel like part of the Chevy family. I highly recommend the 2023-24 Chevy Blazer!

Vehicle year: 2000
I just traded mine it had 115,000 on it. It never left me stranded any place! General maintenance only - batteries, (Texas is hard on batteries) oil, transmission fluid and new tires. Only thing I did not like was that the belt squeaked all the time. Interior was extremely comfortable, air / heat worked great always! Visibility was great as well. I was ready for something different after nine years, the only reason to trade. This one will go 200K no question.

Hi DrJorde, it's great to hear that you've had such a positive experience with your vehicle! It's impressive that you've driven it for 100,000 miles with only normal wear and tear. The interior still looking new and the paint still being glossy is a testament to the quality of the vehicle. It sounds like you're looking for more towing power for your desert trips, which is understandable. I hope you find the perfect replacement vehicle for your needs!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I bought it back in 2008 because it was a great deal for a 4WD, which is essential for me living in Montana where it snows half the year. It was my first car and it served me well for about a year. The only issue I had was with the alternator, but it was an easy fix. The 4WD was amazing and helped me get out of any drifts or ditches I encountered. However, I did start experiencing some problems around 120,000 miles. The catalytic converter went out and I had to have it removed, and the EGR valve had a carbon build-up which required frequent cleaning. Despite these issues, I still appreciate my car for what it is. The gas mileage isn't great at around 12 mpg, but it's worth it for the peace of mind that comes with having a reliable 4WD. Thanks for listening!

Since the day I acquired the truck, I have encountered a series of issues, including problems with the transmission and frequent shutdowns. Unfortunately, these issues have made it difficult for me to take the truck on long trips, as it tends to shut off when the temperature rises. However, I am confident that with the right repairs and maintenance, this truck can be restored to its former reliability. While it may require a significant investment, I believe that it is worth it to have a dependable vehicle.

In 2009, I made the decision to purchase a one owner 99 Trailblazer with just under 98,000 miles. Unfortunately, I had a negative experience with this vehicle and had to replace several parts. Despite my efforts, the issues persisted and I ultimately decided to part ways with the truck. I have since purchased a Mazda 3 hatchback for my wife and am happy with our decision. Thank you for understanding my perspective.

My 2019 Blazer RS has experienced starting issues twice, and despite the efforts of both the dealer and GM, the problem remains unresolved. However, I am confident that a solution can be found and I am committed to working with the dealer and GM to resolve this issue. While this has been frustrating, I remain optimistic that a resolution can be reached and I will continue to work towards that goal.

Vehicle year: 2000
I currently own a 2000 Chevy Blazer and although I thought it was a reliable truck, it's currently in the shop for lower manifold replacement due to a leak. I've had to replace the fuel pump about 3 months ago, new rear brakes about 2 months ago, fuel filter about 1 month ago, and the alternator about 6 months after I got it. I even had to replace the radiator and hose just 3 days ago! It's been quite a hassle and I'm feeling frustrated about having to foot all the bills. I wonder if GM executives are driving Chevys? Probably not!
