The Chevrolet Cruze is a compact car that has been produced by General Motors since 2008. It was designated as a globally developed, designed, and manufactured four-door compact sedan, complemented by a five-door hatchback body variant from 2011, and a station wagon in 2012. During its introduction, the Cruze replaces several compact models, including the Chevrolet Optra which was sold internationally under various names, the Chevrolet Cobalt sold exclusively in North America, and the Australasian-market Holden Astra.
The Cruze was released in 2008 for the South Korean market as the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere until the phasing out of the Daewoo brand in 2011, when it was renamed to Chevrolet Cruze. In Australasia, the model was sold between 2009 and 2016 as the Holden Cruze. In 2016, the Cruze sedan was restyled and renamed for the Australasian market as the Holden Astra Sedan, as a sedan complement to the Holden Astra family.
Due to the market shift towards SUVs and decreasing sales, the Cruze has been gradually phased out. Production of the Cruze in South Korea ended in 2018 as part of restructuring of GM Korea, which in turn ceased supply of the Holden Astra Sedan to Australasia. In the United States and Mexico, production ended in 2019, while production in China ended in 2020. Production continued in Argentina until 2023. It was replaced by the Monza in China, which is known as the Cavalier in Mexico.
Previously, the nameplate has been used for a version of a subcompact hatchback car produced under a joint venture with Suzuki from 2001 to 2007, and was based on the Suzuki Ignis.

Summary of Issues: 1. **Electrical Issues and Unsafe Repairs**: I incurred substantial costs, including a recent invoice of **$2,210.72** dated **October 23, 2024**, for a supposed resolution Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet was supposed to have resvoled for an electrical issue. Despite this, the electrical problems remained unresolved, indicating a lack of professional workmanship and charges for servces not rendedered. Also additional time and money wasted. 2. **Damaged Oil Pan**: Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet caused damage to my oil pan, and they attempted to charge me **$866.00** for this damage. I believe this to be an unfair and unjust practice that reflects poorly on the integrity of their service. I authorized an oil change with the electrical issue and after service the car came home leakinig oil. They damaged the components. An oil change would not have been conducted had there been damage. The April invoice with this company will also show a previous oil change and at that time no issue. 3. **Continued Safety Hazards**: I paid **$531.12** on **September 23, 2024**, for a battery cable replacement, oil change, and tire rotation, which resulted in a new leaking oil issue and a flat tire. My vehicle broke down in traffic due to these unresolved problems, creating a potential accident hazard on the road. She tried to turn the steering wheel t take the exit and everything got locked on her immediately from steering wheel and the break paddle caused he car shift to the curb and hit the side walk because it went out if control because the tire split out the wheel along with another piece from wheel behind the tire , almost killed my daughter on the seen . I had spent in this At least $10k and now it barely passed &100k Just unbelievable. This car is piece of trash no safety in this car now I parked the car and I’m trying to think what to do with it. I will take it back to the GM and the Chevy dealers and I’m complain because even the dealers for the GM and Chevy are the worst people to deal with and the worst customer service. They’re not helpful at all. I have went to local shops. They do better job but the thing is this car is piece of crap Replacing and go back. I am not spending any more penny on this car now I have to get a brand new car for my daughter to go to college she needs it better or don’t sell more cars. - Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Chevrolet Equinox, Impala, Cruze, Volt and Bolt EV vehicles, GMC Terrain vehicles, Buick Lacrosse and Regal vehicles, Cadillac XTS and XTS Professional vehicles and 2018 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles. The rear brake caliper pistons may have an insufficient coating causing gas pockets to form, potentially reducing rear brake performance.
- Consequence: A reduction of braking performance can increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will bleed the vehicle's brake system, free of charge. The recall began October 11, 2018. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18279.

Have you considered the Hatchback Premier? It offers a quieter ride than the Civic and is more comfortable than the Mazda 3. While the Ford Focus needs a lot of improvement to even be in the same class as the Cruze, the Cruze is a strong contender for the money. Additionally, the mileage savings make it a clear winner.

I had an exceptionally good experience with the diesel Cruze. I purchased the car with about 5k miles on it and have driven it for 59k miles. My daily commute is around 150-170 miles per day, which takes me about 2 1/2 hours. I had to upgrade from my Cadillac and Tahoe to a newer car with better gas mileage. The Cruze gets around 40mpg overall (city and highway), but the highway mileage alone is about 50mpg. Although the car is not as comfortable as my Cadillac, it has incredible pep and handling, especially for a small car that isn't a sports car. I added some fancy seat padding for the lumbar and butt, which made it more comfortable, and got some nice tires designed for a quiet ride. The ride is quiet and the interior is nice. The only issue I had was with the mirror cover on the visor, which broke off around 50k miles. However, it is certainly an upgrade from something like a Yugo. The car was in one accident hitting a large animal, which wiped out the radiator and grill in front. The dealership had some trouble fixing the check engine light that kept coming on afterwards, but eventually found the real problem. Overall, I am very happy with the car and would definitely buy it again.It sounds like you really love your car! It's great to hear that you haven't had any problems with it and that it's been reliable for you. Maybe in the future, Chevy will make the seats a bit more comfortable, but it's good to know that it hasn't affected your overall satisfaction with the car. This car was made for today. It shines in the city, country, and on the highway. The 'Auto Stop' feature, which shuts off the car at stops to conserve gas, was a little disconcerting at first. However, when you see your city gas mileage, you don't mind. On those long, lonesome country roads with a speed limit of 60 MPH, you can get nearly 40 miles per gallon. Even with all this fuel economy, this car is quick and nimble at freeway speeds. After coming from the city and taking it easy on a 50-mile trip to visit my in-laws in the country, I got 38 miles to the gallon (without AC on) on my way to their home. Coming home, we were running a little late, and in freeway city traffic, my Cruze was so nimble and quick darting around the clustered traffic at freeway speeds, it was almost incredible. My car has remote and push-button start, and I can unlock the doors by touching the handles. After getting to work and waiting in my Cruze to punch-in for my shift, I switch the car off and the radio and electric windows still operate until I exit the vehicle, which is a great feature. I read one review where the person was bemoaning the 'Auto Stop' feature while trying to pull into traffic quickly. I found that if you anticipate a quick move coming, you merely have to be proactive and step on the accelerator a couple of seconds before going to take it out of the 'Auto Stop' mode. This hasn't been an issue for me, even though I live in the city. With the RS package and the addition of my fog lights to the front grill, this car is a looker. Even though the Cruze Hatchback isn't rated quite as high as some of the other Hatchbacks, I beg to differ. This car is all things to most people and a great value. Did I say it corners like butter? This car is a sleeper. After 6 months, I'm still really enjoying my Chevy Cruze Hatchback. I'll put my Cruze against any of the other Hatchbacks in appearance and luxuries. With my factory push-button start, keyless entry, and remote start, I'm really enjoying my car this winter. It only takes 10 minutes to warm up!Before punching out at my job in Michigan, I use the remote start feature to deice my windows, warm the engine, and heat the seats. It's a little slice of heaven in a very unkind world. I also love the feature that allows me to control the electrics on my car, such as the windows and wipers, for 10 minutes after stopping the engine. Even after 10 minutes, I can still listen to the radio until I go in to punch in. Because of the winters and remote start, gas mileage has suffered, but it's a price I'm willing to pay to make my life so much easier during the harsh Michigan winter. The car is also quick with its little turbocharged engine. It's definitely worth considering if you're shopping for a car. And one more thing, the legroom in the back seat is great for a car of this size, particularly in comparison with almost every other hatchback. My Cruz has been a great addition to our family.

Just picked up my Cruze a couple weeks ago. I always drove Chrysler products all my life. After my Dodge Caliber fell apart, I got this Cruze. I love the room, comfort, and performance, especially for a car of this size. If GM keeps making cars like this, I doubt I'll be going back to Chrysler again.

Be prepared to have it in for servicing frequently. While I have had to replace several parts, such as the mass flow flow sensor, pvc valve, and intake manifold gasket, I still believe it is a great car with excellent handling. Additionally, it has rust protection coating and provides excellent gas mileage. Overall, I would highly recommend this car.

I bought my 2014 Chevy Cruze in 2017 and unfortunately, I didn't do enough research on the common issues that these cars have. It turns out that there is a major and costly defect with the PCV and non-return valve on the engine, which can cause oil to spray out of the valve cover intake manifold. I've had to take it to the mechanic multiple times for repairs, and unfortunately, the issue keeps happening. As a result, I'm finding it difficult to afford the costly repairs on top of my car loan payments. I'm considering handing it over to the lender, even though I know I won't get much for it. It's definitely been a frustrating experience, and I hope that GM will take action to address these issues soon. If you're considering buying a Chevy Cruze, I would definitely recommend doing your research first.

We had a tough time with our 2013 Cruz. It was in the garage 11 times in the first two years, and we had problems associated with the power train. The turbo went twice! We couldn't wait to get out of this car! Unfortunately, they don't hold their value well, and we took a big hit when we went to trade it in. If you're looking for something reliable and that holds its value, I'd keep looking. The only plus was the technology, but reliability and dependability are much more important, and we didn't get that!

I recently got this as a rental car while my 2015 Kia Optima LX is being repaired for minor body damage. Although the Chevy had good advertising, I found that my Kia has more power, better features, a better radio, and is more comfortable. It's quite astonishing how much better my Kia is in comparison.
