The Chevrolet Cruze is a compact car that has been produced by General Motors since 2008. It was designated as a globally developed, designed, and manufactured four-door compact sedan, complemented by a five-door hatchback body variant from 2011, and a station wagon in 2012. During its introduction, the Cruze replaces several compact models, including the Chevrolet Optra which was sold internationally under various names, the Chevrolet Cobalt sold exclusively in North America, and the Australasian-market Holden Astra.
The Cruze was released in 2008 for the South Korean market as the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere until the phasing out of the Daewoo brand in 2011, when it was renamed to Chevrolet Cruze. In Australasia, the model was sold between 2009 and 2016 as the Holden Cruze. In 2016, the Cruze sedan was restyled and renamed for the Australasian market as the Holden Astra Sedan, as a sedan complement to the Holden Astra family.
Due to the market shift towards SUVs and decreasing sales, the Cruze has been gradually phased out. Production of the Cruze in South Korea ended in 2018 as part of restructuring of GM Korea, which in turn ceased supply of the Holden Astra Sedan to Australasia. In the United States and Mexico, production ended in 2019, while production in China ended in 2020. Production continued in Argentina until 2023. It was replaced by the Monza in China, which is known as the Cavalier in Mexico.
Previously, the nameplate has been used for a version of a subcompact hatchback car produced under a joint venture with Suzuki from 2001 to 2007, and was based on the Suzuki Ignis.

Summary of Issues: 1. **Electrical Issues and Unsafe Repairs**: I incurred substantial costs, including a recent invoice of **$2,210.72** dated **October 23, 2024**, for a supposed resolution Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet was supposed to have resvoled for an electrical issue. Despite this, the electrical problems remained unresolved, indicating a lack of professional workmanship and charges for servces not rendedered. Also additional time and money wasted. 2. **Damaged Oil Pan**: Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet caused damage to my oil pan, and they attempted to charge me **$866.00** for this damage. I believe this to be an unfair and unjust practice that reflects poorly on the integrity of their service. I authorized an oil change with the electrical issue and after service the car came home leakinig oil. They damaged the components. An oil change would not have been conducted had there been damage. The April invoice with this company will also show a previous oil change and at that time no issue. 3. **Continued Safety Hazards**: I paid **$531.12** on **September 23, 2024**, for a battery cable replacement, oil change, and tire rotation, which resulted in a new leaking oil issue and a flat tire. My vehicle broke down in traffic due to these unresolved problems, creating a potential accident hazard on the road. She tried to turn the steering wheel t take the exit and everything got locked on her immediately from steering wheel and the break paddle caused he car shift to the curb and hit the side walk because it went out if control because the tire split out the wheel along with another piece from wheel behind the tire , almost killed my daughter on the seen . I had spent in this At least $10k and now it barely passed &100k Just unbelievable. This car is piece of trash no safety in this car now I parked the car and I’m trying to think what to do with it. I will take it back to the GM and the Chevy dealers and I’m complain because even the dealers for the GM and Chevy are the worst people to deal with and the worst customer service. They’re not helpful at all. I have went to local shops. They do better job but the thing is this car is piece of crap Replacing and go back. I am not spending any more penny on this car now I have to get a brand new car for my daughter to go to college she needs it better or don’t sell more cars. - Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Chevrolet Equinox, Impala, Cruze, Volt and Bolt EV vehicles, GMC Terrain vehicles, Buick Lacrosse and Regal vehicles, Cadillac XTS and XTS Professional vehicles and 2018 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles. The rear brake caliper pistons may have an insufficient coating causing gas pockets to form, potentially reducing rear brake performance.
- Consequence: A reduction of braking performance can increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will bleed the vehicle's brake system, free of charge. The recall began October 11, 2018. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18279.

I've been the proud owner of my 2012 Cruze Eco since it was new, and it has been a reliable car for me. Although it has been recalled a few times, the repairs were all covered under warranty and didn't affect the car's performance. Recently, I had an issue with a broken oil line that connected to the turbocharger, which was not covered under warranty. However, the repair was relatively inexpensive at only $120. The car has been fun to drive and has some features that are better than other cars in its price range. Unfortunately, I have had some quality issues with the electronic button that opens the trunk, which has failed recently. My friend who also owns a 2012 Cruze has had the same issue. Although it's an inconvenience, I decided not to spend $360 on a simple button replacement. I have received some recall letters, but they only ask me to bring the car in if I experience certain problems. I'm starting to worry about potential future repairs and expenses, but for now, I plan to keep driving it until it's no longer possible. After all, it has already run really well for over 75,000 miles!I believe that achieving 100,000 miles within the next few years is definitely possible. Let's keep an eye on it and see what happens.

This car was purchased for my son, who prioritized fuel economy and comfort. He previously drove a Jeep Wrangler during college, which was fun but uncomfortable and had poor fuel mileage. We learned from that experience. I want to emphasize that the exterior noise should not be a concern. Although the diesel engine may sound louder from the outside, there is no noticeable difference while driving. The extra insulation effectively absorbs any diesel noise. It is worth noting that the diesel emission system required two repairs, but the DEF heater was covered by warranty. We had to pay for the DPF regen procedure, which the dealer said was a maintenance item.

After owning my Cruze LT hatch for 29 days, I have to say that I am not impressed. However, after 18 months of ownership, my opinion has changed. During a 750-mile trip, the car averaged 35 mpg and had ample cargo room. Power and acceleration have never been a problem and contributed to a nice trip. Although the 'start/stop' function is still not my favorite, I have gotten used to it. Unfortunately, the Android Auto feature still doesn't work as it is supposed to. Overall, I plan to keep the car for a few years and would recommend the hatchback for its performance and cargo capability.

I recently upgraded from a 2004 Toyota Corolla to a 2017 Chevy Cruze and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The engine is peppy and has great acceleration, despite some negative reviews I've come across. I test drove a few other cars, including the new Civic, 2016 Corolla, and an Elantra, but the 1.4 Turbo engine designed by GM is more than sufficient, especially considering the entry-level price point. I'm excited to sell my Cruze, but unfortunately, I've had a few issues with it. Tomorrow will be my third time in the garage for a transmission leak, and there have been a few other recalls and leaks as well. Despite these setbacks, I still appreciate the car's interior. However, I do think the exterior is starting to look a bit dated compared to newer car models. On the bright side, I can still get 40 mpg when driving on cruise, within the speed limit, on flat highways, and without any cargo or passengers. Otherwise, I can expect 27-32 mpg. As a former Civic owner of 10 years without a single issue, I can't say that the Cruze has been as impressive.

I had a 2011 Chevy Cruze Eco for over three years, and unfortunately, it caused me nothing but problems. Despite reading some questionable reviews before purchasing it, I assumed that the good would outweigh the bad. However, within six months of owning the car, I noticed a burning oil smell when idling. Although it was fixed, it was just the beginning of my problems. A year later, my RPM's were dropping extremely low while idling, and I even stalled my vehicle a few times at red lights. The PCV valve issue was a well-known problem, but Chevy has not yet issued a recall. The options for repair were either to replace the entire intake manifold or try out a handful of different aftermarket fixes. I chose an aftermarket fix that was relatively inexpensive but very labour-intensive. Unfortunately, about eight months later, my power brakes stopped working entirely while driving on icy winter roads. Despite these issues, I remained confident in my ability to handle the situation and avoid any accidents.After taking my car to a local mechanic who was unable to diagnose the problem, I contacted the dealership and they were able to diagnose the issue as a brake vacuum micro switch failure. Although there was a recall for this issue on other 2011-2012 Chevy Cruze's with a turbo, the dealership informed me that it was only for the automatic transmissions, not manual. Despite speaking with several supervisors at Chevrolet Canada, I received no help or offers to remedy the issue. However, the dealership kindly offered me a 15% discount on my quoted >$800 service. Although the car had some common mechanical issues, such as the blend door actuator, it handled well in snow and had great mileage. Overall, my experience with this vehicle was disappointing, but it had some positive aspects.I strongly advise against this vehicle and have been actively discouraging anyone I know from considering any Chevrolet vehicle.

I really like the look and interior of the car, it's beautiful! While the acceleration is pretty good, there are some issues with the turbo that make it sound like a weedeater. Additionally, the car has a tendency to jump forward while braking, which can be a bit scary. Unfortunately, at just 50k miles, the turbo blew without warning while driving down the highway. Despite the inconvenience, the team at NTB were able to determine that it was an engine issue and covered under warranty. After some back and forth with the dealer, they were able to replace the engine and turbo. However, I did have some trouble getting reimbursed for the tow and diagnostic fee. A few days after getting the car back, I had a bit of a scare when it wouldn't start, but it turned out to just be a dead battery. Unfortunately, the coil pack has gone bad and there's a coolant hose leak, but I'm confident I'll be able to get it sorted out. Overall, it's been a bit of a bumpy ride, but I'm still happy with my car!

I bought this car a year ago and unfortunately, I've had to take it to the dealership seven times since then. I've had issues with the battery cable, catalytic converter, oil cooler, cylinder head, head gasket, air intake manifold, and more. As a 2013 model, I expected it to be more reliable. I reached out to GM for assistance, but unfortunately, they were unable to help me. I'm disappointed with the customer service I received from a company that prides itself on its customer satisfaction. I've decided not to purchase any Chevy products in the future and will be sharing my experience with others.

Do not buy the 2011 LT Cruze. It has been a disaster for me, with frequent problems such as oil leaks, engine overheating, and A/C failure. I have been left stranded multiple times due to engine overheating and smoke coming out from under the hood. Despite multiple attempts to fix the issues, they keep reoccurring. Based on my experience and other reviews, I cannot recommend this car. As a Chevy fan, I am disappointed but I will not be purchasing another Chevy. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this car.
