In Indonesia, Philippines and several other countries, the Elf is not only used as a truck, but also converted into microbuses by local body makers. The lighter four-wheeled models are commonly used as an intercity Angkot or Jeepney (share taxis), as a school bus, or as an employee bus. Indonesian conversions typically use car-style hinged doors and usually resemble a high-roof van, while most conversions in Kenya, and newer ones in the Philippines often resemble a minibus, with a folding door on the side for passengers, and standing room.

WE PUT NEW BRAKE LINE ON AND REMOUNTED THE SHOCK BRACKET TO AXLE. WE REROUTED THE BRAKE LINE SO IT WAS NOT ON THE SHOCK MOUNT.

THROUGH INTERNET RESEARCH FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE COOLING SYSTEM AMONG OTHER THINGS. GM NOR THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT TO DATE CONTACTED ME FOR THIS RECALL OR ANY OTHER RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. ON (5/27/05) TRUCK TO SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED SERVICE OF RECALL NOTICE I FOUND ON THE INTERNET. TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED HIS COMPUTER AND SAID, "OH YEAH, THERE IS A RECALL ON THE COOLING SYSTEM". THEY REPLACED COOLING SYSTEM HAD TO LEAVE TRUCK FOR A HOSE TO BE ORDERED. GOT THE TRUCK BACK-SMELL NOT AS STRONG, BUT STILL THERE. TOLD (BY DEALERSHIP-SERVICE AREA), IT WAS A RESIDUE PRIOR TO COOLING SYSTEM REPLACEMENT. SHORT TIME ELAPSED SMELL GETTING STRONGER AND NOISE (GROWLING NOISE) FROM EXHAUST. AGAIN FOR SERVICE (AT 17,083 MILES ON 7/8/05). THEY PERFORMED A FLUSH. GOT TRUCK BACK STILL HAD SMELL. ON 9/13/05 AT 21,272 MILES BACK FOR SERVICE AGAIN, IN ADDITION TO SMELL SMOKE COMING OUT OF MY AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING VENTS ON THE DASH BOARD AND THROUGH THE DEFROST VENTS ACROSS THE FRONT/BOTTOM OF MY FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE TEMPERATURE NEEDLE MARKING OVER THE MIDDLE RED MARK, INDICATING THAT THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING. SERVICE RAN THE CAR FOR 4 HOURS WITHOUT ANTIFREEZE -REPLACING IT WITH WATER. DEODORIZER WAS PLACED INSIDE THE VENTS. 9/25/05 HAVE THE TRUCK BACK STILL HAS ODOR AND SMOKING FROM THE VENTS. ODOR AND SMOKING HAPPENS WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON OR OFF. ALSO HAD THE PROBLEM; TRUCK IS IN PARK POSITION SHIFTED TO DRIVE POSITION AND IT WENT IN REVERSE, THIS HAPPENED TWICE. - Consequence: IF THE ENGINE SEIZES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN, THE VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE SUDDEN DECELERATION LEADING TO AN INCREASED RISK OF A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PACKING SEALS WITH NEW ONES AND THE BOLT WILL BE TIGHTENED WITH A SPECIFIED TORQUE. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 28, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ISUZU AT 1-800-255-6727.

- Summary: ISUZU IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006-2007 ISUZU NPR, NQR, NRR, GMC W3500, W4500, W5500, AND CHEVROLET W3500, W4500, AND W5500 VEHICLES. THE OIL PIPE BOLTS WERE NOT TIGHTENED PROPERLY DURING THE VEHICLE PRODUCTION PROCESS. IF NOT ADEQUATELY TIGHTENED, THE BOLT MAY LOOSEN AFTER PROLONGED VEHICLE OPERATION, WHICH CAN RESULT IN OIL SEEPAGE OR LEAKAGE FROM THE PACKING SEALS. IN GENERAL, AS OIL IS LOST, THE OIL WARNING LAMP WILL ILLUMINATE, AND THERE MAY BE ABNORMAL ENGINE NOISE AND LOSS OF OIL CAN CAUSE ENGINE SEIZURE.
- Consequence: IF THE ENGINE SEIZES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN, THE VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE SUDDEN DECELERATION LEADING TO AN INCREASED RISK OF A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PACKING SEALS WITH NEW ONES AND THE BOLT WILL BE TIGHTENED WITH A SPECIFIED TORQUE. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 28, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ISUZU AT 1-800-255-6727.

- Summary: ISUZU IS RECALLING 16,859 MY 2006-2007 ISUZU NPR, NQR, NRR, GMC W3500, W4500, W5500 AND CHEVROLET W3500, W4500, W5500 TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH DIESEL ENGINES. DIESEL FUEL MAY SEEP OR LEAK FROM THE FUEL PIPE AT THE UPPER OR LOWER FUEL PORT ON THE DIESEL FUEL SUPPLY PUMP.
- Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLES AND IF NO SEEPAGE OR LEAKAGE IS DETECTED, THE FUEL PIPE FITTINGS WILL BE TIGHTENED. IF SEEPAGE OR LEAKAGE IS DETECTED, THE FUEL SUPPLY PUMP WILL BE REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE. THE RECALL WILL BEGIN ON JUNE 30, 2008.
