Chevrolet Camaro problems

The Chevrolet Camaro is a mid-size American automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, classified as a pony car. It first went on sale on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year and was designed to compete with the Ford Mustang. The Camaro shared its platform and major components with the Firebird, produced by General Motors' Pontiac division that was also introduced for 1967.
Four distinct generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. The nameplate was revived on a concept car that evolved into the fifth-generation Camaro; production started on March 16, 2009.
The Camaro was discontinued at the end of the 2024 model year. Production ended in December 2023. However, Chevrolet has stated, "This is not the end of Camaro's story."

Chevrolet Camaro 2015
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-03
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-08
- VIN: 2G1FB1E36F9
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I have purchased a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro and it has become obvious that there is an electrical issue that was not previously disclosed by the dealership. The radio and air conditioning shut off randomly while driving and it is accompanied by a loud popping sound. In addition, when pressing on the brake or using the right turn signal, the radio will also shut down completely, while the air conditioning is making a loud rumbling noise. This happens frequently and there is also a constant blinking in the lights on the front of the radio. This appears to be an electrical issue and the safety concerns are based on the premise that it can be reproduced by stepping on the brake or using the turn signal. Each of these need to be in proper working condition in order to be considered safe on the road. I am writing as after going to several shops thinking it was an issue with the radio itself, I was advised that this is a known issue with the Chevrolet Camaro. There are countless posts online with other Camaro owners complaining of the same symptoms and this defect should likely be included in a recall or repairs covered by the manufacturer. Please look into my concerns.

Chevrolet Camaro 2016
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-08
- Date Complaint: 2024-08-26
- Fire: 1
- VIN: 1G1FH1R77G0
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE
- Summary: Before purchasing a 2016 camaro last year I took it to a Chevrolet dealership for a safety inspection with no safety concerns found and after purchasing it around 57,000 miles went to another Chevrolet dealership to diagnose any electrical concerns occurring with the car that I noticed. There was nothing found but I still noticed humming sound and let them know and they found no concerns whatsoever. The battery was replaced twice as over the course of the year the electricals decreased in power. I then notified my insurance there was an issue with the car drawing power and it would not start. Upon checking the trunk noticed water had gotten into and possibly damaged the trunk/rear fuse block. I went through my insurance to fix any body damage but no electricals were fixed based on the insurance representative declining to accept liability for the damage and upon return of my vehicle, the repair facility started the car against my wishes and the rear fuse block in the trunk sparked and caused a fire to start in the trunk that continued for about a minute or two. Upon taking it to Chevrolet this year again after this, I was charged $800 for them to not diagnose anything but to say the x-connectors were burned up in the incident as well (I said this previously as this started the fire as it carries the currents from the fuse block) and to say they cannot find the source of the water leak/entry or replace the fuse block as the x-connectors and harness for the car, the first parts needed to be repaired to establish power to the car, have been discontinued. For more details on the cause, effects, and repair steps necessary but not been able to completed by GM/Chevrolet please refer to this service bulletin that I noticed was raised after I purchased this car upon researching the issue MULTIPLE chevrolet dealerships, ignored, didn't notice, and now are saying cannot repair and should be followed up on: 18-NA-375. Car is at ~70,000 miles currently.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission fluid needed to be flushed and refilled. The independent mechanic made the contact aware of Technical Service Bulletin Number: 18-NA-355. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was included in Technical Service Bulletin Number: 18-NA-355. The failure mileage was approximately 26,530.

If you're looking for a car that delivers all-around performance and puts a smile on your face every time you drive it, look no further! I personally own a 1SS with a 6.2 V8 and auto trans, and I couldn't be happier. I opted for the magnetic ride control and Recaro front bucket seats, as well as the performance exhaust, and I truly believe that's all you need to get the best all-around performance car for the price. The Camaro SS handles like a dream, both in a straight line and around corners - it's like driving on rails! Plus, it's incredibly responsive, stopping on a dime when you need it to. I've driven comparable Mustangs and Challengers, but neither can compare to the Camaro SS. And if you're worried about gas mileage, don't be - it can be very good on the highway if you drive without a lead foot!

I can tell you from experience that the fourth gen z28 is the best performer out of all the generations I've owned, including the second and third gen. The handling is fantastic and the dash components are conveniently turned towards the driver. The front driver's seat is comfortable, but still gives you that muscle car feel. As for the other seats, I can't really say.

Vehicle year: 2000
The car looks fast and is! It's so enjoyable to drive with the top down in the middle of summer. Although the interior finish is somewhat lacking, you don't buy this car for the interior finish. You buy this car because you want a Corvette with a backseat! Although the backseat is not very roomy, it does offer an alternative for small kids, etc. It's a great buy for the money with lots of Detroit muscle and rumble!

Hi there! From my experience, this car is a great choice. I've driven it through many conditions and it has held up really well. Like most cars, the headlamps and taillights can be a bit problematic, but I haven't had any issues with the tires. The brakes tend to whine a bit in light rain, but that's pretty normal. I've had this car for quite a while now and it has over 64k miles on it, mostly highway miles with some light racing, and it still runs great. It's an extremely fun car to drive and doesn't require much maintenance. The only downside is that the advertised 30mpg highway seems a bit optimistic - I usually get around 24mpg with cruise control on. Overall, I highly recommend this car!

This car is all about performance, but it may not be the right fit for everyone. Surprisingly, I have owned it for 8 years now and have no plans to sell. With some minor modifications, it still outperforms 95% of street cars. Additionally, it boasts a nice fuel economy, especially for a 350hp V8, achieving 28 highway mph, which is only surpassed by the lighter Vette. It has proven to be quite reliable, with the only major issue I experienced over the 8 years being an ignition sensor, which cost $400 to fix. As a hatchback, it is also surprisingly practical and roomy, and has carried everything from Christmas trees to chairs for me. And let's not forget why people buy it - the LS1/LS2/LS3/LS4/LS6/LS7 engine is simply the best and can be found in everything from Mazdas to Porsches.

The car is definitely a fun ride, despite some issues. It seems that the differential was faulty on all of them from the factory, as discussed in this forum post: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=472935. The road noise is quite noticeable, but it doesn't take away from the overall driving experience. It's possible that the factory didn't install any sound deadening, maybe just carpet on bare metal. Shifting can be a bit tricky, especially finding 2nd gear, but it's nothing that can't be managed. The radio speakers could be better, but that's a minor issue. The car's handling can be a bit challenging in the rain, but it's manageable. The car's appearance is definitely a head-turner, and I get lots of compliments on it. Would I buy another one? Probably not, but I still enjoy driving it nonetheless. The interior plastic is soft and not very durable, so it scratches easily. I've won most of the races I've been in, but I did lose to one of the new Chargers. It could have been my driving error though.

I was browsing Craigslist for a T-top Z28, specifically the 93-97 body style, which in my opinion looks the meanest of all the Camaros. That's when I stumbled upon a white Z28 coupe with Hugger Orange stripes. When I saw it in person, I was absolutely stunned at how cool it looked! Even though it's an older car, I've had plenty of people, both young and old, tell me how cool my car is. One of the best compliments I received was from a kid who said, 'Cool mom, I want a car like that!' Performance-wise, the car definitely puts me back in my seat. The automatic is very responsive and the car is a real head-turner, even with the imperfect paint and stripes. I bought it for $5400 and it has been an awesome purchase so far. The only problems, besides cosmetics, have been a bad radiator cap and later radiator.

The car was a great graduation present from my parents and it drove fine at first. However, it did have some issues starting at around 3,000 miles. We ended up having to replace almost everything in the car at least twice, from the CD player that got too hot to play CDs to the entire rear axle that had two bearings go bad and wear out the axle shafts. We also had to replace the coil pack twice, the ignition, the fuel pump, and the clutch master cylinder. Despite all of this, it was still a decent ride overall.

I bought this car when I could finally afford the insurance. I absolutely love hopping in and driving it during the summer, especially after cleaning, washing, and waxing it. Unfortunately, it's not as fun to drive in the winter, so I have to make alternative plans to get to work. But that's okay, it's just a minor inconvenience.

Unfortunately, I own a 2010 2LT with about 70,000 miles. I have experienced multiple major mechanical issues with the vehicle, including premature failure of the catalytic converter at around 60,000 miles, throttle body and related wiring failure at around 45,000 miles, and most recently, the timing chains stretched at about 35,000 miles and again at about 70,000 miles. GM has not taken responsibility for these issues and when I asked for assistance with the second timing chain failure, they stated that they believe this is normal wear and tear and that the 35,000 mile interval is acceptable. Despite the major mechanical issues, the car looks fantastic. I would not recommend purchasing this car if you value your hard-earned money.
