By the sixth-generation Accord at the end of the 1990s, it evolved into an intermediate vehicle, with one basic platform but with different bodies and proportions to increase its competitiveness against its rivals in different international markets. For the eighth-generation Accord released for the North American market in 2007, Honda had again chosen to move the model further upscale and increase its size. This pushed the Accord sedan from the upper limit of what the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines as a mid-size car to just above the lower limit of a full-size car, with the coupe still rated as a mid-size car. In 2012, the ninth-generation Accord sedan, with smaller exterior dimensions, was once again classified as a mid-size car at 119 cubic feet (3.4 m3), falling just shy of the "Large Car" classification. However, the tenth-generation Accord sedan, with similar exterior dimensions, returned to full-size car status with its combined interior space of 123 cubic feet (3.5 m3); the coupe was discontinued in 2017.
In 1982, the Accord became the first car from a Japanese manufacturer to be produced in the United States when production commenced in Marysville, Ohio at Honda's Marysville Auto Plant. The Accord has achieved considerable success, especially in the United States, where it was the best-selling Japanese car for sixteen years (1982–97), topping its class in sales in 1991 and 2001, with around ten million vehicles sold. Numerous road tests, past and present, rate the Accord as one of the world's most reliable vehicles. The Accord has been on the Car and Driver 10Best list a record 38 times.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle; however, while driving and exceeding 40 MPH, the vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and driven to a dealer at slow speeds. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel pump had failed; however, the part to repair the vehicle was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000. - Summary: The speakers will blast static noise while driving even when the radio is turned off. The engine will need to be powered off to stop the noise. After powering on and driving again the static noise returns within 5 minutes. This is very distracting. This has been happening intermittently for over a month. The audio fuse can be removed to stop the noise from occurring. Unfortunately, this fuse also disables the backup camera and side camera, not an ideal fix. - Summary: During normal driving - clear weather conditions - the car will suddenly activate the forward collision braking. It will literally slam on the brakes and decrease the speed by 10-15 MPH. This happened as I was going down the drive of our neighborhood, I was at 45 MPH with no one in front of me or behind me (thankfully) and the car applied the brakes and activated the front collision warning. There is also an intermittent issue with my seatbelt. Specifically the drivers seat belt. I was witness to someone driving my car - he buckled his seat belt and it unlatched. He then buckled it again thinking he didn’t do it right - but it wouldn’t latch. This has happened to me before as well - but usually after the third try of buckling the seat belt it will work and so I thought nothing of it. Additionally, the windshield wipers do not go back to their original position after being in use.

- Summary: the fuel pump on my 2013 honda accord went out. Ive taken the vehicle to the honda dealer multiple times to get it diagnosed and they keep telling me its the high pressure fuel pump and once replaced my car will run smoothly.NOT the case ive replaced it more than 6 times, my car still stalls and turns off at random so im unable to drive the vehicle. it starts and drives but you have to look at the rpms while driving, if i go over 2000 rpms itll stall. when the issue first started i was at a redlight when the vehicle stalled, thankfully no one was around me since it was late but had there been traffic my car would have been hit. i have 2 children and I cant and will not put them in that car knowing it has a problem no one is willing to take a deep dive into. Due to this issue multiple lights on the dash are on and wont go off until the problem is fixed.

- Summary: My wife thought she locked her keys in the car and I got a hanger to try and get in by putting hanger in window and pulling the latch for trunk and then pull the lever to fold down the back seat and then I crawled in from trunk and when I lifted the back seat to look on seat it latched and I was locked in car! I could not open any doors or windows and it was very hot that day and it was even hotter inside the car. I thought I was gonna die! I was trying to yell but nobody was around and my son in law just happen to pull up and I was screaming beating on the window and he heard me and saw me and rushed over and I told him to pull the latch in trunk to open back seat and he found the latch and I was able to crawl out. I thought I was gonna die!! You cannot get out of that car if you are inside and the locks are locked. There was a time not long before that my wife and I went to store and she went in and I was gonna come in after I got done with my phone call I was on and when I tried to open the door it would not open and I had to wait for her to come out of store to unlock the car so I could get out. After this last incident I was so shaken up I didn't know what to do until my brother in law told me to file a complaint before it happens to someone else that might not get lucky like I did and to call an attorney which is what I'm gonna do regardless of what they do about it. I'm a grown adult and could not get out of that car and if that were to happen to a child I don't wanna even think about what would happen and that is why I'm making this complaint so it can be fixed before it happens again if it already hasn't.

Vehicle year: 1999
I bought my second Accord over three years ago with 90k miles on it. My first '92 Accord had nearly 200k miles and the only issues were with the cruise control and a rough transmission. Unfortunately, my '99 model has a faulty transmission that slips, the lights in my dash dim periodically, the cruise control doesn't work at all, the auto locks in my rear doors are now manual, and I need new ball joints. I even had to purchase an extended warranty for my battery because it continuously dies. However, I must admit that as I am approaching 175k miles, the car still starts without a glitch. While my family has had four Hondas, each with transmission issues, I still appreciate the reliability of my car.

I purchased my Accord brand new back in November 2003 and have always taken it to the dealership for maintenance. Although I have experienced some of the common issues that other drivers have faced, I have only put 72k miles on it to date since I have a work vehicle and don't use it for commuting. The first issue was a recall on the transmission, followed by the radio going out, and then just routine services. Recently, I have been experiencing flickering headlights, but after taking it to the dealership and having it checked, it turned out to be neither the battery nor the alternator. I discovered that the ELD goes up on 2003/2004 Accords around 100k or ten years, and after investing 2k in repairs, it feels like a brand new car. I am aware that the transmission may need attention soon, but I still love this car and believe it's worth it!

I purchased this car brand new in 1991 and I absolutely love it! It has been the most reliable car ever. I have kept up with oil changes, replaced the timing belt, air conditioner, cv joint, and just recently replaced the alternator. I had it repainted, tinted the windshield, and replaced the hubcaps with new Honda ones. It's still a beauty and the shape is timeless. This car has 220,000 miles on it and I hope to see another 100,000 miles!

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! This car has 150k miles on it and still looks and drives like new. To keep it in top condition, make sure to follow the maintenance schedule and use only Honda parts. My wife and I have been enjoying this car for eight years now, and we haven't had any major mechanical issues except for one minor hiccup with the driver side door mechanism. A little pin broke and locked the door permanently, but it was an interesting experience taking the door panel off and cutting the locking mechanism out with a dremel. It was a total fluke and nobody's fault. This car gets 32 miles per gallon on the highway, which is great for our mostly highway driving. It even pushes through snow with quality snow tires. We love the stick shift and even upgraded the cloth seats to leather heated seats for only $1400. We would definitely do it again. We plan on driving this car until it can't go any further!

I purchased this car in the summer of 1998 because I drive a lot of miles. However, after about 2 years, I started experiencing issues with the oil. Despite taking it to several places, no one could figure out where the oil was going. Additionally, the 1998 and 1999 models have EGR problems, and unfortunately, Honda did not cover mine (or my Dad's 99) under the recall. They quoted me $400 for a replacement, but it turned out that an independent garage was able to clean it for only $65 and it's been working fine since. Another issue I've had is that the lights on my dashboard keep going out, making it difficult to see the clock, mileage, and half of my speedometer at night.

Hello, could someone please help me understand why some features were removed from the 2017+ models and not added to the 2021 version? I've noticed that my car no longer has a trunk button, remote start, side camera, or keyless entry. It's disappointing to feel like the car is a step back in terms of features. Despite experiencing some issues with our 2018 Touring, we have been in contact with the dealership and are confident that they will be able to resolve the problem. We have had a few visits to the dealership since January, but we appreciate their efforts to fix the issue. We have spoken to the service manager who has assured us that if the problem cannot be resolved, we may be able to swap the car for another. While we have had some frustrations, we remain optimistic that the dealership will be able to provide a satisfactory solution. We have had positive experiences with Hondas in the past and we are confident that this issue will be resolved.

The Honda Touring was definitely louder than the Camry and Mazda 6, but it still drives like a dream. The interior does utilize a lot of hard plastic, which may not be the most upscale, but it still gets the job done. Unfortunately, the Honda dealer was quite aggressive in trying to up-sell everything under the moon, which made for a less than positive experience at the dealership.

This car has been a disappointment. The brakes wear out quickly and are expensive to replace. The dealer claims that it's normal for the rear brakes to wear before the front, but I'm not convinced. Additionally, there's a strange noise when I start the car, which the dealer said would cost around $800 to fix. The windows also don't go up all the way in cold weather, and the air-con is quite loud. Overall, I'm not satisfied with my Honda and will not be purchasing one again.
