By the sixth-generation Accord at the end of the 1990s, it evolved into an intermediate vehicle, with one basic platform but with different bodies and proportions to increase its competitiveness against its rivals in different international markets. For the eighth-generation Accord released for the North American market in 2007, Honda had again chosen to move the model further upscale and increase its size. This pushed the Accord sedan from the upper limit of what the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines as a mid-size car to just above the lower limit of a full-size car, with the coupe still rated as a mid-size car. In 2012, the ninth-generation Accord sedan, with smaller exterior dimensions, was once again classified as a mid-size car at 119 cubic feet (3.4 m3), falling just shy of the "Large Car" classification. However, the tenth-generation Accord sedan, with similar exterior dimensions, returned to full-size car status with its combined interior space of 123 cubic feet (3.5 m3); the coupe was discontinued in 2017.
In 1982, the Accord became the first car from a Japanese manufacturer to be produced in the United States when production commenced in Marysville, Ohio at Honda's Marysville Auto Plant. The Accord has achieved considerable success, especially in the United States, where it was the best-selling Japanese car for sixteen years (1982–97), topping its class in sales in 1991 and 2001, with around ten million vehicles sold. Numerous road tests, past and present, rate the Accord as one of the world's most reliable vehicles. The Accord has been on the Car and Driver 10Best list a record 38 times.

The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle; however, while driving and exceeding 40 MPH, the vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and driven to a dealer at slow speeds. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel pump had failed; however, the part to repair the vehicle was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000. After powering on and driving again the static noise returns within 5 minutes. This is very distracting. This has been happening intermittently for over a month. The audio fuse can be removed to stop the noise from occurring. Unfortunately, this fuse also disables the backup camera and side camera, not an ideal fix. - Summary: During normal driving - clear weather conditions - the car will suddenly activate the forward collision braking. It will literally slam on the brakes and decrease the speed by 10-15 MPH. This happened as I was going down the drive of our neighborhood, I was at 45 MPH with no one in front of me or behind me (thankfully) and the car applied the brakes and activated the front collision warning. There is also an intermittent issue with my seatbelt. Specifically the drivers seat belt. I was witness to someone driving my car - he buckled his seat belt and it unlatched. He then buckled it again thinking he didn’t do it right - but it wouldn’t latch. This has happened to me before as well - but usually after the third try of buckling the seat belt it will work and so I thought nothing of it. Additionally, the windshield wipers do not go back to their original position after being in use.

- Summary: the fuel pump on my 2013 honda accord went out. Ive taken the vehicle to the honda dealer multiple times to get it diagnosed and they keep telling me its the high pressure fuel pump and once replaced my car will run smoothly.NOT the case ive replaced it more than 6 times, my car still stalls and turns off at random so im unable to drive the vehicle. it starts and drives but you have to look at the rpms while driving, if i go over 2000 rpms itll stall. when the issue first started i was at a redlight when the vehicle stalled, thankfully no one was around me since it was late but had there been traffic my car would have been hit. i have 2 children and I cant and will not put them in that car knowing it has a problem no one is willing to take a deep dive into. Due to this issue multiple lights on the dash are on and wont go off until the problem is fixed.

- Summary: My wife thought she locked her keys in the car and I got a hanger to try and get in by putting hanger in window and pulling the latch for trunk and then pull the lever to fold down the back seat and then I crawled in from trunk and when I lifted the back seat to look on seat it latched and I was locked in car! I could not open any doors or windows and it was very hot that day and it was even hotter inside the car. I thought I was gonna die! I was trying to yell but nobody was around and my son in law just happen to pull up and I was screaming beating on the window and he heard me and saw me and rushed over and I told him to pull the latch in trunk to open back seat and he found the latch and I was able to crawl out. I thought I was gonna die!! You cannot get out of that car if you are inside and the locks are locked. There was a time not long before that my wife and I went to store and she went in and I was gonna come in after I got done with my phone call I was on and when I tried to open the door it would not open and I had to wait for her to come out of store to unlock the car so I could get out. After this last incident I was so shaken up I didn't know what to do until my brother in law told me to file a complaint before it happens to someone else that might not get lucky like I did and to call an attorney which is what I'm gonna do regardless of what they do about it. I'm a grown adult and could not get out of that car and if that were to happen to a child I don't wanna even think about what would happen and that is why I'm making this complaint so it can be fixed before it happens again if it already hasn't.

Vehicle year: 2017
I am a big fan of Honda and this iteration of Accord, as this is my second 9th gen Accord Touring. The 2017 9.5 gen is even more refined than my 2014 model, with a smoother operating engine that has more seamless VCM transitions between 3 and 6 cylinders. The ride quality is more supple due to the reactive amplitude dampers and revised rear bushings. The infotainment system has been vastly improved and updated with Apple CarPlay, making it more user-friendly. The styling has also been improved, making it more eye-catching. The car comes with Honda Sensing safety features and additional luxury features, such as rain-sensing wipers, full LED headlights with auto LED highbeams and heated rear seats. In Lunar Silver Metallic with deeply tinted windows, the car often attracts compliments. The acceleration is outstanding and the J-series V6 is a real gem. It's smooth and rev-happy, with a mean, intoxicatingly joyous sound when worked hard into VTEC range (5100 rpm). It makes higher trim Accords feel like a completely different beast than those powered with i4s and CVTs. Although the Continental ProContact tires that Honda has chosen for models with 19Although the tires weren't worn, we decided to replace the OEM tires with 245/40/19 Continental DWS06 tires. This upgrade significantly improved the handling and winter traction of the vehicle. Other than that, we continue to consider the Accord a great value and we are happy to have it in our household.

Two years ago, our mechanic convinced us to go back in time and purchase our 1990 Honda EX automatic. It has been a joy to drive and has handled our daily errands and weekend trips to our cabin near Ottawa, Canada with ease, carrying drinking water, 2x4s, and all our cottage gear. Although the Honda required more updates than we anticipated, including a new muffler, pipes, timing belt, and alternator, it has driven less than 150,000 km and is in very good condition. It has been a reliable and friendly companion, but we have decided to say goodbye and upgrade to a Sonata for health reasons, in search of the smoothest ride possible.

I bought this car with 134k on it for just under 5 grand when I was in high school. I thought, it's a Honda so it'll last. After regular maintenance such as timing belt/water pump, brakes, oil, etc, this car has been very dependable. I've replaced the radiator, transmission, and torque converter. On the coldest days, it fires right up and takes off, no warm-up time or anything. I highly recommend Honda to anyone!

This car has been making me smile for over a year now. In my opinion, it's the best mainstream sedan out there. I've read reviews where people mention issues and say things like 'the car company knows there is a problem' or 'this issue has been going on with a lot of cars, why don’t they fix it'. What people don’t realize is that they go online and search for their issue and find someone or several people with the same issue. So, they find 65 people who posted the same problem, but what they don’t see is the other 375,000 people who don’t have anything to report because they are happy with their car. Generally, what happens is someone buys a car and happens to get a problem vehicle. These vehicles are sometimes just random and no one knows why it happens, not even the manufacturer. For every car ever made, a very small percentage of those vehicles coming off the assembly line are going to be a 'problem vehicle'. It’s well under 1 percent. The manufacturers do everything they can to prevent it, but it still happens, even for Toyota, Honda, Lexus, you name it. Secondly, there are times when people don’t understand the newer technology or vehicle operations. For example, someone buying a car with a CVT transmission or a Dual clutch transmission. If you have never driven them before and are not familiar with how they operate, you might think there is a problem. CVT’s don’t shift gears. The transmission runs on a belt and pulley system, so they feel different. Dual Clutch transmissions shift, but they are sometimes not quite as smooth as a regular transmission, so people think there is something wrong. Other times, people are just not realistic. If everyone really thought about it, cars have hundreds of thousands of parts, miles of wires, and more computing power than a PC or smartphone did just a few years ago. How many times does your computer freeze, or you have to restart your phone to get it to work? It’s truly amazing today, with how complicated and complex vehicles are, that we have so very few problems on the whole.It's amazing how people can be so quick to judge and spread negativity online. However, it's important to keep in mind that everyone's experiences are different. Just because one person had a bad experience with a certain car manufacturer, it doesn't mean that everyone will. We should all strive to be more realistic and understand that no car is perfect. Speaking of cars, I recently purchased my first Honda and I'm really enjoying it. While it may not be as quiet on the highway as my previous Lexus, the 2 liter turbo engine is incredibly powerful and responsive. The car strikes a great balance between comfort and driving enjoyment. The cabin is well-furnished with high-quality materials and the safety systems all work well. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend the Honda Accord EX-L 2.0T to anyone in the market for a new car.Some cars may score high in one aspect but low in others. However, the Accord ranks an 8 in pretty much every category, making it a very solid car. Additionally, it looks great! One downside is that the upgrade 10 speaker stereo falls behind most upgrade stereo systems I have had in terms of sound quality. Another issue is that it is not easy to get with the Navigation system. Overall, the Accord is a great car that is definitely worth considering.

I've owned six previous Accords ('95, '98, '99, '01, 02, and '04), and I must say that this one is the best so far. The build quality is perfect, which is to be expected since it's the last year of this body style. I considered buying an '06 Civic before this purchase, but I was disappointed by the design flaws, rattles, and poor-grade interior materials. That's why I'm sticking to Accords. They offer the best compromise between cost, fuel economy, practicality, and quality. If you're driving in an urban setting, there's not much difference in fuel mileage between a Civic and an Accord-- 28 mpg vs 25 mpg.

I recently upgraded from a 2013 Accord LX to a 2015 Accord LX and I must say, what a difference! Despite some reviews claiming that the car was not redesigned, I can confidently say that this was not the case. Although I didn't take a road test this time around (to expedite the process), I was able to pick out a color that I liked. However, the biggest issue I've had with the car is the uncomfortable seats. Despite trying for two months, I have not been able to find a comfortable position and it has been causing me back pain. The car has a new type of cloth on the seats and doors which looks nice, but unfortunately it picks up dirt like a magnet. Additionally, there is quite a bit of road noise, particularly wind noise, which can be quite loud on windy days, especially when crossing a bridge. It seems like the insulation materials used were of cheap quality. Lastly, the engine has gotten louder and there is noticeable vibration when idling at a traffic light.

I purchased this car used in 2001 and unfortunately, the transmission only lasted until 2009. Although I had another one put in, it only lasted 7 months. I was disappointed with this issue and did not expect the 2001 model to have such a high rate of transmission failure. It seems possible that Honda was aware of this issue and still sold the car at a regular price. As a result, I find it difficult to trust Honda. It would be great if Honda could compensate 2001 owners for their losses. It doesn't seem fair that we paid so much for a car that is no longer functional while Honda still profits from it. They have moved on, but we are left with the consequences.

Additionally, Honda transmission flush requires the use of expensive oil, which can cost more than some luxury cars. However, it is important to note that with proper maintenance, Honda transmissions can still perform well beyond 100,000 miles.

Be cautious when considering purchasing a Honda Accord from the years 2008-2010. There have been reports of engine defects.
