In 2012, the ninth-generation Accord sedan, with smaller exterior dimensions, was once again classified as a mid-size car at 119 cubic feet (3.4 m3), falling just shy of the "Large Car" classification. However, the tenth-generation Accord sedan, with similar exterior dimensions, returned to full-size car status with its combined interior space of 123 cubic feet (3.5 m3); the coupe was discontinued in 2017.
In 1982, the Accord became the first car from a Japanese manufacturer to be produced in the United States when production commenced in Marysville, Ohio at Honda's Marysville Auto Plant. The Accord has achieved considerable success, especially in the United States, where it was the best-selling Japanese car for sixteen years (1982–97), topping its class in sales in 1991 and 2001, with around ten million vehicles sold. IT WAS AFTER MY DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT SENSOR STARTED INTERMITTENTLY WORKING THAT THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON. IN OTHER WORDS, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, I TAKE OFF MY SEAT BELT THEN RE-ATTACHED IT, THE SENSOR DID NOT WARN ME THAT IT WAS OFF. OR SAY THOSE RARE OCCASIONS WHEN I WOULD GET INTO THE CAR, DRIVE OFF AND REMEMBER THAT I WAS NOT SECURE, THERE WOULD BE NO LIGHT TELLING ME SO. THEN SOMETIMES IT WORKED FINE. WHEN THE SEAT BELT ISSUE FIRST OCCURRED SO DID THE SRS. HONDA WILL BE REPLACING THE SENSOR FOR $1200, IN ORDER FOR ME TO PASS VIRGINIA INSPECTION. HOW IS IT THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM IN SO MANY WIDE SPREAD YEARS AND MAKE OF HONDAS? IT COVERS RECENT YEARS AS WELL. I GOOGLED AND FOUND AN ENTIRE OF FAMILY OF HONDA OWNERS WITH THIS SRS PROBLEM. I'm so happy with my car, it's actually the best one I've ever owned! I've only needed to do general maintenance on it, and it's still driving almost as well as when it was new. Mine was made in Japan, and I'm excited to see the new 2003 Coupe - I might even consider trading if the price is right. I don't want to be overcharged just because it's a new design, but I'm also happy to keep my current model for another year or more. I hope the Hondas made here in the USA are just as good!

I've owned this Honda for about 4 years now and it has been incredibly reliable. I have only needed to perform standard maintenance and have not had to make any repairs. While the ride is decently peppy, the styling is quite sedate and I wouldn't say it's the most exciting car. However, I have no doubt that it will last as long as I need it to. Overall, it was a great purchase and I have never regretted it. It's worth noting that the left passenger automatic window sticks a bit, but it still works. Additionally, there are some groans and squeaks at cruising speed.

You're in for a treat with this car! As the original owners, we've put 128,000 miles on it and it's still the best car we've ever owned. We recently sold it to a family member and upgraded to a new 2003 Accord. Can you believe it? As an engineer and car enthusiast, I've taken care of all the preventive maintenance myself and that's all we've needed to do. The car has been incredibly reliable and still feels as tight and responsive as when it was new. Plus, we use Mobil1 synthetic and the car doesn't use any oil at all!

This is my fourth Accord that I purchased in September of 2010. I've owned a 91 EX coupe 5 speed in high school for 3 years, a 99 EX-L sedan 5 speed for 4 years, and a 91 LX sedan 5 speed for 5 years (that one had idling issues btw). Now, I'm back to my roots with my EX, which is amazing! The performance is good considering its age, but I don't think it was faster than my 99 VTEC. My only problem is that it isn't too comfortable, but that's because I was spoiled by the roomier EX-L and I'm 6ft with long legs! lol. I know some have had the misfortune of owning a lemon, but Honda has been good to me for the past 12 years! When I finish school, I plan on getting an 06-07 V6 sedan 6 speed!

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my Ex, 4 door car that I bought in '97 with 67,000 miles on it. It's been a great car for me, getting around 25-26 mpg in Houston. I've put 227,000 miles on it so far and it still feels great on the road. The cloth interior is also better than the 2003 Accord. I'm confident it could even reach 300,000 miles with proper maintenance, such as changing the timing belt every 90,000 miles and getting an oil change every 4,000 miles. I highly recommend using Mobil One synthetic oil. Thanks for reading!

The car is reasonably comfortable, but it is fairly quiet and not very fun to drive. Unfortunately, it is also very expensive to own and only gets 19/24 mpg, which is quite disappointing for a 2.2 4-cylinder. Additionally, parts for this car are surprisingly costly. For example, Honda uses around 10 formed-rubber hoses (~$80) for the cooling system, while most car manufacturers only use two (~$20). Another issue is that the front brakes are designed in a way that requires the entire front-end to be rebuilt to replace the rotors, which makes a ~$200 repair closer to $800. Overall, this has been a big disappointment. As a result, I have decided to sell this car and purchase a BMW, which I believe will be a better fit for me.

Your car may have a few quirks, but overall it's not bad. It can be a bit grumpy in the winter and the AC has broken a couple of times, but it's nothing that can't be fixed. Occasionally the gear shift can be stubborn, but it's still a reliable ride. The trunk and windows may leak, but that's a minor issue. Overall, it's a decent car.

My dad gave me his 1993 Accord a year ago with only 79,000 miles and it was very well-maintained. Unfortunately, while my daughter was using the car at college, the timing belt blew at 81,000 miles, causing the car to need $4000 worth of engine work. Despite this setback, the car is still in great condition and has relatively low mileage. It's disappointing that this issue seems to be a serious design flaw, as it's a relatively common breakdown that can cause total engine failure.

I purchased this car back in 2001 with only 46,000 miles on it. Over the course of a year and a half, I managed to increase the mileage to 90,400. During that time, I had to replace the radiator, timing belt, water pump, and valve-covered gasket. Unfortunately, the transmission also failed, which was surprising for a Honda. After rebuilding the transmission and replacing the oil-covered gasket, I feel like I have essentially rebuilt the car. However, due to the amount of work and money I had to put into it, I have affectionately renamed my 1993 Honda Accord to the 2002 Honda Lemon.
