2011 Honda Accord problems
The Honda Accord (Japanese: ホンダ・アコード, Hepburn: Honda Akōdo, /əˈkɔːrd/), also known as the Honda Inspire (Japanese: ホンダ・インスパイア, Hepburn: Honda Insupaia) in Japan and China for certain generations, is a series of automobiles manufactured by Honda since 1976, best known for its four-door sedan variant, which has been one of the best-selling cars in the United States since 1989. The Accord nameplate has been applied to a variety of vehicles worldwide, including coupes, station wagons, hatchbacks and a Honda Crosstour crossover.
Since its initiation, Honda has offered several different car body styles and versions of the Accord, and often vehicles marketed under the Accord nameplate concurrently in different regions differ quite substantially. It debuted in 1976, as a compact hatchback, though this style only lasted through 1989, as the lineup was expanded to include a sedan, coupe, and wagon. By the sixth-generation Accord at the end of the 1990s, it evolved into an intermediate vehicle, with one basic platform but with different bodies and proportions to increase its competitiveness against its rivals in different international markets. For the eighth-generation Accord released for the North American market in 2007, Honda had again chosen to move the model further upscale and increase its size. This pushed the Accord sedan from the upper limit of what the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines as a mid-size car to just above the lower limit of a full-size car, with the coupe still rated as a mid-size car. In 2012, the ninth-generation Accord sedan, with smaller exterior dimensions, was once again classified as a mid-size car at 119 cubic feet (3.4 m3), falling just shy of the "Large Car" classification. However, the tenth-generation Accord sedan, with similar exterior dimensions, returned to full-size car status with its combined interior space of 123 cubic feet (3.5 m3); the coupe was discontinued in 2017.
In 1982, the Accord became the first car from a Japanese manufacturer to be produced in the United States when production commenced in Marysville, Ohio at Honda's Marysville Auto Plant. The Accord has achieved considerable success, especially in the United States, where it was the best-selling Japanese car for sixteen years (1982–97), topping its class in sales in 1991 and 2001, with around ten million vehicles sold. Numerous road tests, past and present, rate the Accord as one of the world's most reliable vehicles. The Accord has been on the Car and Driver 10Best list a record 38 times.
In 1989, the Accord was the first vehicle sold under an import brand to become the best-selling car in the United States. As of 2020, the Accord has sold more than 18 million units.

Common 2011 Honda Accord problems
The 2011 Honda Accord has been reported to have several common problems, including airbag issues, loose nuts, and electrical hiccups.
Airbag issues are a significant concern in the 2011 Honda Accord, with nine recalls related to airbags. The problems range from ruptured inflators to incorrect installation, which can lead to airbags failing to deploy in a crash, potentially causing injuries.
Loose nuts and bolts in the suspension can cause steering failure, making it challenging to control the vehicle. This issue can also be caused by leaking steering fluid, which can cause the power steering to fail, leading to a sudden loss of control and increasing the risk of an accident.
Electrical hiccups are another common problem in the 2011 Honda Accord. The car's electrical system can experience issues, including malfunctioning sensors and wiring problems. For example, the crankshaft position sensor, which lets the engine's computer know how fast the engine is turning and sets the ignition timing, can fail. If the sensor starts failing, the engine can misfire, cut out intermittently, or refuse to start at all.
In addition to these issues, several 2011 Accord owners have reported excessive engine rattling and unexpected loss of power, resulting in a lawsuit. The complaints involve the engine's variable timing control actuator, which can make a rattling noise, especially during cold starts. The fix for this issue can cost between $700 and $900 and could lead to engine failure if not done.
The 2011 Honda Accord also has issues with the variable cylinder management, which affects nearly 1.9 million units. This issue causes an unexpected loss of power, and then the engine hesitates to accelerate. A class-action lawsuit was filed against the Japanese automaker alleging engine misfire, premature spark plug failure, and excessive oil burning. Honda agreed to settle by offering a warranty extension.
The Accord's powertrain also has problems, with some owners reporting rough shifting in cars fitted with the torque converter automatic. Drivers have noticed the transmission slipping and leaking fluid, while others report the car exhibiting choppy gear changes when downshifting.
Furthermore, many owners have reported uncomfortable seats, with issues such as overly protruding lumbar support and poorly designed headrests causing back and neck pain. The front passenger seat has also been cited as a source of discomfort, with some drivers experiencing back and neck pain due to the lack of adjustment.
Overall, while the 2011 Honda Accord is a reliable car, it does have some common problems that owners should be aware of, including airbag issues, steering failure, electrical hiccups, engine rattling, and uncomfortable seats.
Is a 2011 Honda Accord reliable?
Nevertheless, it's important to note that the 2011 Honda Accord remains a solid pick among family sedans. It's spacious, fuel-efficient and reliable and should hold its value well. The Accord also comes in a sporty coupe body style, something that few other automakers offer in their midsize models.
Is Honda Accord 2011 fuel efficient?
At least Honda's drivetrain is efficient: With a fuel-saving cylinder deactivation system, the V-6 Accord sedan gets an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in combined city/highway gas mileage. That's up 1 mpg over last year's V-6 Accord, and it's better than most six-cylinder family cars.
Which years are best for Honda Accord?
Honda Accords are known for their reliability and longevity. The best years for a used Honda Accord are 2006–2007, 2011–2012, 2015, 2020, and 2021. The 2013 and 2018 models have advanced features.
Is there any recalls on a 2011 Honda Accord?
2011 Honda Accord has Multiple Recalls for Malfunctioning and Improperly Installed Airbags, Part of the Massive Takata Recall. Out of the nine recalls issued for the 2011 Honda Accord, eight deal with faulty and improperly installed front passenger airbag inflators.

(1) After driving my car for about 5k miles, the screen in the dash started flashing 'tighten fuel cap'. Even though the fuel cap was on, I took my car to Honda, but they said nothing was wrong. (2) I noticed that the steering wheel shakes, not extremely bad but enough to raise a flag. However, Honda said nothing was wrong. (3) I have experienced some issues with the lock as well. Sometimes they will not lock after exiting the car, and I have to lock all of them manually. Although it's not a big deal, it's not expected for a 2011 vehicle, especially a Honda. Sometimes they will not unlock with the remote, but I haven't even bothered to take the car to Honda to see what the problem is. (4) Unfortunately, I had to replace the battery at 37k miles for some reason.

Base model but a great car! Quick, quiet, and a great highway cruiser. It gets 35 mpg plus on highway trips at 75-80. The car has great visibility, a huge trunk, and a spacious back seat. The 4-cylinder engine has plenty of power. I found that the original equipment Dunlap tires were horrible, but after I put Bridgestones on at 30,000 miles, the car became quiet and smooth. I love this car!

I have the V6 model and it is powerful! The ride is smooth and maintenance is amazing!

I received this car as a gift for my 18th birthday just a month ago and I absolutely adore it! Instead of going for the typical Civic that most teenagers drive, I opted for a white one with tan interior. I really appreciate the changes they made to the front and back of the car. It's pretty cool that I haven't seen anyone else with a 2011 model within a 100-mile radius of me. Overall, I think Honda is definitely the way to go!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with the 4 cyl EX w/ AT. I have to say, it's a great car that does a lot of things very well. One thing I really appreciate is how reliable it is - I never have to worry about it breaking down on me. Plus, the engine sounds really nice and healthy, which is always a good sign. The AT is also a standout feature - it shifts very smoothly and helps save fuel by mostly maintaining speed when you let off the gas. And when you need to slow down, it downshifts nicely when braking. The motor also keeps quite low rpms when cruising on the highway. While it may not have amazing torque from a stop, it's important to remember that it's a 4 cyl after all. The steering is also really nice and the wheel feels great in your hands. And when driving on windy roads, it feels very secure. Another thing I love about this car is the visibility - it's really good out the windows. And even as someone who's 6'2

I bought a V6 Accord about a year ago and have been experiencing some issues with oil consumption. After a couple of oil changes, I noticed that the car was low on oil after only 5000 miles. Unfortunately, it seems that my car uses 1 quart of oil every 1500 miles and Honda has not been able to help me with this issue. Before purchasing an Accord, I would recommend researching the oil consumption problem that some owners have reported. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [violative content deleted].

Our car averages 13 miles per gallon in San Francisco driving, which is mostly on flat ground with very little driving on hills. While we had expected to average less than the advertised 24 miles per gallon, we did not expect such a low rate of 13. Additionally, the seat belt is quite inconvenient to buckle. If you do not have the rear view camera, you may have difficulty seeing where you are backing into. Overall, we have had some issues with the car's fuel efficiency and seat belt, but we are generally satisfied with its performance.

My 2011 EX-L Sedan has some room for improvement. The road noise on the highway is quite noticeable and the seats could be more comfortable. While I traded my 09 TL for the Accord for better fuel economy, I haven't seen enough savings to justify the trade-off. However, the leather is a nice touch. Honda could improve the plastic used in the dash and console area. Overall, I believe Honda can do better and make improvements to enhance the driving experience.

I have previously owned Honda cars, including my first car, an Accord (1992). When I needed to purchase a reliable car, I decided to go back to the Accord. However, I have noticed some changes since then. The build quality seems to have decreased, with cheap plastics and rattles in strange places. I had to replace what they consider a battery at only 15K miles, and recently had to replace the rear brake pads and rotors at 29K miles. It seems like Honda has started to cut corners. I hope they can improve the quality of their vehicles in the future, as I have enjoyed owning Honda cars in the past.

The car has a very noisy cabin and low sound insulation, which makes it difficult to use Bluetooth. The stock stereo is not good and lacks clarity above 40% of the volume. The ride is harsh, especially on the bumpy streets of NYC. However, the car looks great and has a well-designed interior. It is also a good value for the money, although Korean cars are catching up. I have been averaging 22mpg with 40city/60hwy driving, but it would benefit from a sixth gear to improve fuel efficiency. Overall, I am satisfied with the car, but I may not choose Honda again unless they improve their overall build quality. I am glad I did not purchase this car, but it is a good option for those on a budget.
