Daewoo problems
Daewoo Motors (/ˈdeɪwuː/ DAY-woo) was a South Korean automotive company established in 1937 as "National Motors". The company changed its name several times until 1982 when it became "Daewoo Motors" following its acquisition by the Daewoo Group. After running into financial difficulties, it sold most of its assets in 2002 to General Motors at $1.2 billion, becoming a subsidiary of the American company. In 2011, the name "Daewoo" was definitively removed with the company being renamed GM Korea and the Daewoo brand replaced by the Chevrolet marque.
History
The company was established as "National Motor" in 1937 in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, Japanese Korea. The name was changed to "Saenara Motor" in November 1962. Saenara was assembling and selling the Datsun Bluebird PL310. The first automobile company in South Korea, Saenara was equipped with modern assembly facilities, and was established after the Automobile Industry Promotion Policy was announced by the South Korean government in 1962. Saenara Motor was then bought by Shinjin Industrial in 1965, which changed its name to Shinjin Motors after establishing collaborations with Toyota.
After Toyota's withdrawal in 1972, Shinjin Motor started a joint venture with General Motors under the name "GM Korea", but was renamed again in 1976 to "Saehan Motors". GM Korea shortly sold their Rekord model under the GM Korea marque, together with the Chevrolet 1700, a rebadged Holden Torana.

Common Daewoo problems
Daewoo cars, like any other vehicles, have their own set of common problems that owners have reported. These issues can range from mechanical faults to electrical problems.
One of the common problems reported by Daewoo owners is related to the fuel gauge. Some Daewoo models may have a faulty fuel gauge that does not accurately reflect the amount of fuel in the tank. This can lead to situations where the car runs out of fuel unexpectedly, causing inconvenience and potential safety risks.
Another problem that Daewoo owners have reported is related to the heater. Some owners have experienced issues with the heater not working or not working properly, especially during colder months. This can make driving the car uncomfortable and potentially dangerous in extreme weather conditions.
Starting problems are also a common issue reported by Daewoo owners. Some models may have difficulty starting, especially in cold weather or after sitting for an extended period of time. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including electrical issues or problems with the starter motor.
Daewoo cars have also been reported to have brake problems. Some owners have experienced issues with the brakes not working properly or not working at all. This can be a serious safety issue and should be addressed immediately by a qualified mechanic.
A burning smell is another common problem reported by Daewoo owners. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including electrical issues or problems with the brakes. If you notice a burning smell coming from your Daewoo, it is important to have it inspected by a qualified mechanic as soon as possible.
Gearbox problems are also a common issue reported by Daewoo owners. Some models may have issues with the gearbox, including difficulty shifting or grinding noises when shifting. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including wear and tear or problems with the clutch.
Finally, Daewoo cars have been reported to have issues with the catalytic converter, which can cause a rotten egg smell. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including problems with the fuel system or issues with the engine. If you notice a rotten egg smell coming from your Daewoo, it is important to have it inspected by a qualified mechanic as soon as possible.
In general, Daewoo cars have been reported to have a variety of common problems, including issues with the fuel gauge, heater, starting, brakes, transmission, and catalytic converter. If you own a Daewoo or are considering purchasing one, it is important to be aware of these common issues and to address them promptly if they arise. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent these problems and ensure that your Daewoo remains safe and reliable for years to come.

- Summary: THERE ARE TWO RECALL ON THE DAEWOO LANOS'S CAM POSITION SENSOR. I'M GETTING ENGINE CHECK LIGHTS WITH A FAULT CODE CALLING OUT THE CAM POSITION SENSOR. MY MECHANIC SAYS I SHOULD TAKE IT INTO A DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL DONE. MY DEALER SAYS THE SENSOR DOES NOT FALL IN THE RIGHT DATE CODE OR MANUFACTURER OF SAID SENSOR. IT COST ME 100 DOLLARS TO "CHECK" FOR THE RECALL WHICH I FIND OUT I DON'T NEED. BUT MY ENGINE CHECK LIGHT IS STILL COMING ON. THE DEALER SAYS MY SENSOR DOESN'T WORK AND WILL HAVE TO REPLACE IT ANY WAY. WHICH I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PART AND NOW LABOR WHEN IT COMES IN. SO, BECAUSE OF A RECALL WHICH I DON'T NEED, I'VE PAID 100 FOR INVESTIGATION, 114 FOR PART AND NEXT IS LABOR FOR THE PART TO BE INSTALLED. I FEEL LIKE A SHEERED SHEEP. THEN I FIND OUT THAT THE DEALER GETS 55 DOLLARS FROM DAEWOO FOR CHECKING THE RECALL ALSO. *TR
