1994 Honda Accord problems
The Honda Accord (Japanese: ホンダ・アコード, Hepburn: Honda Akōdo, /əˈkɔːrd/), also known as the Honda Inspire (Japanese: ホンダ・インスパイア, Hepburn: Honda Insupaia) in Japan and China for certain generations, is a series of automobiles manufactured by Honda since 1976, best known for its four-door sedan variant, which has been one of the best-selling cars in the United States since 1989. The Accord nameplate has been applied to a variety of vehicles worldwide, including coupes, station wagons, hatchbacks and a Honda Crosstour crossover.
Since its initiation, Honda has offered several different car body styles and versions of the Accord, and often vehicles marketed under the Accord nameplate concurrently in different regions differ quite substantially. It debuted in 1976, as a compact hatchback, though this style only lasted through 1989, as the lineup was expanded to include a sedan, coupe, and wagon. By the sixth-generation Accord at the end of the 1990s, it evolved into an intermediate vehicle, with one basic platform but with different bodies and proportions to increase its competitiveness against its rivals in different international markets. For the eighth-generation Accord released for the North American market in 2007, Honda had again chosen to move the model further upscale and increase its size. This pushed the Accord sedan from the upper limit of what the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines as a mid-size car to just above the lower limit of a full-size car, with the coupe still rated as a mid-size car. In 2012, the ninth-generation Accord sedan, with smaller exterior dimensions, was once again classified as a mid-size car at 119 cubic feet (3.4 m3), falling just shy of the "Large Car" classification. However, the tenth-generation Accord sedan, with similar exterior dimensions, returned to full-size car status with its combined interior space of 123 cubic feet (3.5 m3); the coupe was discontinued in 2017.
In 1982, the Accord became the first car from a Japanese manufacturer to be produced in the United States when production commenced in Marysville, Ohio at Honda's Marysville Auto Plant. The Accord has achieved considerable success, especially in the United States, where it was the best-selling Japanese car for sixteen years (1982–97), topping its class in sales in 1991 and 2001, with around ten million vehicles sold. Numerous road tests, past and present, rate the Accord as one of the world's most reliable vehicles. The Accord has been on the Car and Driver 10Best list a record 38 times.
In 1989, the Accord was the first vehicle sold under an import brand to become the best-selling car in the United States. As of 2020, the Accord has sold more than 18 million units.

Common 1994 Honda Accord problems
The 1994 Honda Accord is known for several common problems that owners have reported. One of the most frequent issues is a rough idle and shaking when starting the car, which is often accompanied by a check engine light.
Another common problem with the 1994 Honda Accord is related to the ignition switch. The ignition switch may fail to switch off or remove the key without shifting into park, which can cause the car to roll away if the parking brake is applied and the key is removed without shifting into park.
Shifting issues are another concern for 1994 Honda Accord owners. The check engine light and D4 may flicker, and hard shifting can occur due to mechanical problems or a dirty transmission fluid.
Lastly, the power door locks on the 1994 Honda Accord may trigger automatically due to a problem with the door lock actuator.
These are some of the most common problems reported by 1994 Honda Accord owners. It is essential to address these issues promptly to ensure the safety and reliability of the vehicle.

Q: Which Honda Accord generations have had the most problematic model years? A: The sixth generation (1998-2002) and parts of the seventh (2003-2005), eighth (2008-2010), and ninth generations (2013-2014) have had Honda Accord model years that are best avoided due to various issues and excessive complaints.

Honda Accord 1994 Fuel consumption
Fuel consumption for the 1994 Honda Accord is dependent on the type of engine, transmission, or model chosen. The Honda Accord currently offers fuel consumption from 8.5 to 10.3L/100km.
How many miles will a 1994 Honda Accord last?
Like most cars on the road, the number of miles an Accord will last is almost completely dependent on how the car is driven and how it's maintained. Most modern cars, including Accord, will go 200K to 300K miles if given good preventive maintenance. I bought a 94 accord with 200k miles for $300.
Why does my 1994 Honda Accord cut off while driving?
The two main problems with these cars experiencing this problem is a defective ignition switch electrical portion (Honda had a recall on certain vehicles) and another problem was what Honda call the Main Relay under the left side of the dash. The main relay sends power to the fuel pump.

- Summary: 1994 HONDA ACCORD EX IS USED 6 MONTHS OF THE YEAR AS IT IS LEFT AT CONDO AND HAS $17,400 MILES. IT IS A PERFECT RUNNING CAR. ON DECEMBER 19, 2017 AN ICON SHOWED UP ON THE DASHBOARD. IT SAID "CHECK". WAS TOLD IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ENGINE. WAS GOING TO BRING IT TO MECHANICAL STATION AS IT WAS LATE. AFTER DRIVING ON A HEAVY TRAFFIC MAIN ROAD, IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH NO WARNING. IT WAS PUSHED TO THE SIDE AND HAD TO BE TOWED. IT WAS ABOUT $450.00. I NOW SEE THE CAR WAS RECALLED FOR THIS YEARS AGO. I NEVER GOT A RECALL WARNING. THE REASON I AM WRITING THIS IS BECAUSE IF THERE WAS A CAR IN BACK OF ME, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BAD. IF DRIVING ON I95 WHERE CARS GO TO 85 MILES AN HOUR, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. THIS CAR IS EXCELLENT AND I WAS TOLD BY DELRAY HONDA THAT "THIS ENGINE WILL LAST FOREVER". CARS SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO BE SOLD TO THE PUBLIC WHERE IT IS POSSIBLE TO JUST STOP WHILE IN MOTION. IT WAS A DISTRIBUTOR. HAVE A RECEIPT IF NEEDED.

LUCKILY I WAS NOT IN TRAFFIC OR ELSE THE SITUATION COULD HAVE ENDED MUCH DIFFERENTLY WITH A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. I COASTED TO A STOP AND WIGGLED THE KEY, AND LIMPED IT HOME WITH THE HAZARD LIGHTS ON. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND TRACED THE ISSUE TO A DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH. I ORDERED A BECKARNLEY #201-1807 SWITCH TO REPLACE THE OLD ONE. THE OLD SWITCH WAS CLEARLY WORN AND HAD BURN MARKS ON THE METAL, THUS CAUSING THE LACK OF CONDUCTION IN THE IGNITION SYSTEM. THE CAR IS RUNNING PERFECTLY NOW. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS IT IS FOR OTHER MODEL YEARS OF THE SAME MODEL (HONDA ACCORD). *TR

I absolutely adore my Honda Accord! Even though I'm a commuter and don't get to drive it as much as I'd like, it still looks and runs like it's brand new, even after 15 years and 83K miles. My wife thinks I'm a bit crazy for loving it so much, but I just can't help it. It's a beautiful car with just the right amount of features - not too complicated like newer models. I plan on keeping it for a long time and passing it down to my wife while I take the new SUV every four years.

I bought my Honda Accord in '99 and I absolutely love it! The car's design, interior, and performance are all fantastic. In fact, I love it so much that I've invested almost $20,000 to make it look even better and go even faster. I'm really excited to upgrade to the Honda Accord 2003 Coupe. Honda truly makes excellent automobiles!

It sounds like you've got a great little car there! It rides like a big car and is great on gas. Plus, there's plenty of room inside and lots of trunk space.

Pros: This car has sporty handling, Honda reliability, and good gas mileage. It was also the first car I ever drove. Cons: The car can be a bit harsh over bumps and the wheel well is a bad spot for rust. However, despite these minor issues, I absolutely loved driving this car. The zippy acceleration and tight turning made for easy parking and fun driving in traffic. The gas mileage was also impressive, frequently getting over 30 on the highway and usually about 25 in the city. Even though the car was over 20 years old and had nearly 300,000 miles on it when it was finally time to get rid of it, it very infrequently had problems, which is a testament to Honda's reliability. The only downside was the wheel well rust, which can be a problem in snowy states. The last time I ever drove it, I had tears in my eyes, knowing it was the first car I ever drove and soon it would be gone.

I bought my Honda Accord straight off the dealer lot with 5 miles on it and now I have over 170,000. What a truly superb automobile! I have had only a few problems with the car, and it still has about 98% of its original parts. The leather seats and the interior have held up much better than the Toyota I had before it.

My car has reached 98000 miles. Although the engine rattles quite loudly and the steering is very light, making it easy to lose control, I can confidently say that overall, the car is very reliable.

Hey there! I purchased this car as a commuter vehicle and it has been a great choice so far. It has a stylish design and is an economical option. The 4 cylinder VTEC engine provides decent power, especially when compared to other 4 cylinders from this era. However, it's important to note that it's not a racecar, despite what some people may think. The interior is well laid out, with a spacious backseat for a coupe. In fact, this generation's extra width makes it feel quite roomy compared to my previous 89 Accord LX-i. The trunk is large and the engine compartment is well organized. I get around 28 miles per gallon, mostly on the highway, which is great. It's also a fairly reliable car. Just be sure to keep the body clean as it tends to rust easily. Let me know if you have any questions!

This car's automatic transmission is extremely rough and unreliable. The temperature control knob stopped operating at 27,000 miles, and the driver's door window fell into the door frame at 35,000 miles. Additionally, there was an exhaust system rattle from underneath the passenger compartment throughout my ownership. At 65,000 miles, the ABS computer module failed, costing $800 to repair. Finally, at 70,000 miles, the odometer stopped working. Despite these issues, I have appreciated my experience with Honda products.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my Honda Accord. I've had it since college and it's been such a reliable car. I've put over 200,000 miles on it and it's still going strong. However, I did have a concerning issue with the lower ball joint in the front end. It failed three times, causing the wheel to disengage and the car to skid off the road in a shower of sparks. It happened on both the right and left front ends, but thankfully no one was hurt. Despite this issue, Honda Corp and the various mechanics involved couldn't pinpoint a cause. Other than that, I haven't had to replace anything major, just tires, batteries, brakes, and pipes. It's amazing that it still has its original clutch! Thanks for listening to my story.

I've had this car for almost a year now and it's been trouble-free. It's very spacious and perfect for loading and unloading my kids. The Honda Accord station wagon is an excellent vehicle for travel, with high gas mileage and plenty of room. I haven't had to do any work on my Honda since I got it, except for normal wear and tear. They're very reliable and trustworthy cars.
