The Jeep Wrangler is a series of compact and mid-size four-wheel drive off-road SUVs manufactured by Jeep since 1986, and currently in its fourth generation. The Wrangler JL, the most recent generation, was unveiled in late 2017 and is produced at Jeep's Toledo Complex.
The Wrangler is a direct progression from the World War II Jeep, through the CJ (Civilian Jeeps) produced by Willys, Kaiser-Jeep, and American Motors Corporation (AMC) from the mid-1940s through the 1980s. Although neither AMC nor Chrysler (after it purchased AMC in 1987) have claimed that the Wrangler was a direct descendant of the original military model — both the CJ Jeeps and the conceptually consistent Wrangler, with their solid axles and open top, have been called the Jeep model as central to Jeep's brand identity as the rear-engine 911 is to Porsche.
Similar to the Willys MB and the CJ Jeeps before it, all Wrangler models continue to use a separate body and frame, rigid live axles both front and rear, a tapering nose design with flared fenders, a fold-flat windshield and can be driven without doors. Also, with few exceptions, they have part-time four-wheel drive systems, with the choice of high and low gearing, and standard open bodies with removable hard or soft tops. However, the Wrangler series was specifically redesigned to be safer and more comfortable on-road, to attract more daily drivers, by upgrading its suspension, drivetrain, and interior, compared to the CJ line. The suspension on all Wranglers included trackbars and anti-roll bars, and, from the 1997 TJ onwards, front and rear coil springs instead of the previous leaf springs.
From 2004 on, the Wrangler has been complemented with long-wheelbase versions, called Wrangler Unlimited. 2004-2006 models were longer versions with 2 doors. In 2004 only automatic transmission-equipped “Unlimited” versions were sold. In 2005 both an automatic and manual 6-speed (NSG-370) were offered. Since 2007, the long-wheelbase Wranglers were four-door models, offering over 20 in (508 mm) more room. By mid-2017 the four-door models represented three-quarters of all new Wranglers on the market.

- Summary: The manufacturer has not been able to remedy the batteries for electrical propulsion, saying "no remedy available ". Makes me hesitant to drive or park near other vehicles or structures. I have also complained to the dealership, where I purchased my Jeep, about a wobble/shake in the front-end when driving over bumps. After two attempts they have not been able to find a reason for or repair my vehicle. When driving in rain, this condition makes control a dangerous issue in heavy traffic. The most recent occurance was on [XXX] where the posted speed limit is 80mp, accompanied by heavy 18 wheeler traffic! I have also experienced the wobble/shake when traveling [XXX] from Texas to Louisiana, in the rain, surrounded by heavy automobile & 18 wheel traffic once again. This is a very stressful and uncomfortable situation to be in. I have experienced the wobble/shake soon after the purchase of my Jeep, still exists after several mechanical inspections at the dealership where purchased. I have also written a letter to the manufacturer, dated August 22, 2024, for these issues & the devaluation that exists with this particular model, to date I have not received a response! There is no excuse for the inability to repair or respond to my concerns! I have a copy of my letter to Customer Care for Stellantis & recall & repair documents; I am unable to upload at this time. - Summary: The navigation/radio screen has delamination. At first, I thought it was just cosmetic. Starting in July of 2024, it started doing things independently, such as changing channels, the source, and switching between navigation and backup camera; on Oct 4, 3024, it started turning on Bluetooth and calling 911. I can not turn it on because it continues to call 911. The vehicle only has 20,900 miles. The local dealership and Jeep are aware of the problem and have offered to repair it at a cost to me. This is a manufacture defect that needs to be fixed/recalled by Jeep.

- Summary: My 20214XE Hybrid from the day I bought it was often saying "electric not available" There was a potential fire recall last winter that took four months to remedy, during that time we were told not to charge it, park in our garage, park near our home/structures or park by other cars. I purchase a hybrid that I'm not able to use as a hybrid. Finally, got the repair in the spring. Literally, two months later, it starts doing all kinds of dangerous things. I would come to a stop or be in the middle of a turn and would have no power whatsoever, gas pedal to the floor and going nowhere and then would lunge forward. Took to the dealer, computer said CRITICAL hybrid battery overheating, the original repair clearly didn't work. Eventually, it was approved for hybrid battery being replaced. All was well until 2 weeks ago when it got "jeep death wobble", violently shaking back and forth at about 60mph. They did repair it but informed us that there is ANOTHER RISK FOR FIRE RECALL, do not charge it or park in garage, etc. etc. I have a vehicle that is a risk for BURNING MY HOUSE DOWN, this is multiple times and unacceptable. I also purchased a hybrid that I am not able to use as a hybrid.

I have to shut the vehicle down in the roadway and wait to restart the vehicle to clear the issue. It will not even allow me to pull the emergency transmission release when this condition occurs to move the vehicle out of the roadway.

- Summary: Driving on an Interstate Highway in Florida, hit a small "rut" in the roadway at Highway speeds and the front end started shaking "VIOLENTLY" to the point I though the vehicle was going to "Roll Over". I had to slow down, switch from the center lane of a three lane highway crossing over the outside lane then onto the shoulder of the Highway, get the speed down from 70 to 50 mph before the "Violent Shaking" stopped. When speaking with a service center for Jeep I was told this is a "KNOWN ISSUE" with the 2021 Jeep Wrangler but there is no recall for the vehicle year 2021 BUT there were for other vehicle years, which I find UNBELEIVABLE!!!! As a retired Police Officer I will tell you this is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY OR SOMEONE WILL GET KILLED IN A CRASH!!!

- Summary: On 9/29/24 with the rear window removed and the top in a closed position while driving highway speeds, the driver side rear window of my vehicle, without warning, flew off and moments later the rear driver side support flew off. The side windows of the vehicle had previously never been removed. It was a shocking experience that left me quite shaken, yet out of control to mitigate. Fortunately, there were no vehicles immediately behind me taking the impact of flying car parts, however, had there been this could have been deadly. Your Jeep is amazing! I remember when you bought it brand new at a dealership in Colorado. It's been through so much, like that huge snowstorm where it was the only vehicle that could get through and rescue stranded people. You've driven it across the country and used it for so many different tasks, from hauling feed to horses to transporting goats. Even your two Irish Wolfhounds love it! It's so reliable and tough, and it's still going strong after all these years. You're so lucky to have such a great vehicle!

I bought my 92 Wrangler used with 33K miles on it. Since then, I've driven it over 200K miles and it still purrs like a kitten. A few years back, I gave it a new paint job and it looks great. As a shade tree mechanic with only a ratchet set, I find it extremely easy to maintain. The inline 4.0, 6 cylinder engine is the best around. Just keep the oil clean and it will take care of you. Recently, I replaced the radiator myself with that same old ratchet set. It was the biggest and easiest repair I've had to make. I must confess, she is my second car now, but she is also my favorite toy to this day. I plan on keeping her forever and giving it to my 2-year-old when he is of age. He's already calling it his Jeep.

I've always wanted a Sahara, but I spend a lot of time on expressways and take a bunch of calls from my car. I was pleased to find out that the reviews I've read were true - the new Sahara is really quiet on the expressway. The Bluetooth is fantastic, and I opted for the 4 cylinder turbo engine, which I couldn't be happier with. The materials seem top notch. Switching from a Chrysler 300C has been an adjustment, but if you're looking for a sweet daily driver SUV, the new Jeep is hard to beat!

Hi there! I just wanted to share a heartwarming story about my beloved Wrangler. I purchased it brand new back in 1994 (it was a 1995 model) and it was my trusty companion for 13 wonderful years. When my son turned 16, I decided to pass it down to him and he took it off-roading with a lift kit. Although he put it through its paces and it came back to me a bit worse for wear, my amazing dad is currently rebuilding the engine for me. Even though it was running on only 3 cylinders, it still kept going! I'm so excited to get it back and take it for a spin once again. Thanks for listening to my story!

This car definitely has its perks. This is the first SUV-style car I've owned and I love the size and visibility out of it. The details in this model are nice. Although I have noticed that every time I go through the car wash, water leaks in through the top. It's worth noting that I've never taken the top off and this car is brand new (a month old). But overall, I really love this car!

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with the 2012 Wrangler Sahara. Overall, I'm happy with the vehicle, but there are a few quirks that I've noticed. For example, the soft top can be a bit of a challenge to put on and take off, and I've noticed some small holes starting to form after just a month of use. However, the transmission and engine feel great, and I'm really enjoying driving it. Before this, I drove a Subaru Outback XT for six years, which was a lot smoother and quicker, and actually performed better on the beach. In terms of mileage, I'm getting around 20 on the highway and 16.4 around town. One thing to note is that there are no skid plates around the engine. Thanks for listening!

This is the best off-road vehicle out there! I absolutely love my Jeep, although I did have some quality issues when I first received it. The paint quality was poor, and I had to take it back to the dealer to get several spots re-painted. The new seats since 2003 are large, awkward, too low, and difficult to see around. As a loyal owner of a 1998 Cherokee, I was excited to try out the Wrangler. Unfortunately, I had a negative experience with it. From day one, the alignment was off and there were clunking noises coming from the hood when the AC was turned on. The automatic transmission also had trouble switching gears. Despite three trips to the dealer, the issues persisted and now the transmission has completely failed over 200 miles away from home. It's been a frustrating experience. I believe that the build quality of Jeeps may have decreased due to cost-cutting measures. I don't think I'll be purchasing a Jeep again. I'm currently trying to have it declared a lemon or have the dealer buy it back. Regardless, I hope that future buyers are aware of these issues. Thank you for your time.

It's been four years since I got my Jeep, and I've had some amazing experiences with it. Driving with the top off in the mountains during summer is an absolute delight. However, the downside of owning a Jeep is the mechanics. I've had to replace several parts, including the radiator, starter, alternator, water pump, and even the transmission. If your Jeep's transmission lasts for 100,000 miles, it's done an excellent job. If you're willing to invest in repairs, I would definitely recommend buying a Jeep.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I purchased it on August 6th and drove it home. Unfortunately, after a week, I had to take it into the shop because the clutch pedal went to the floor while I was driving. Luckily, I was able to pump it up to use it. It's been a while since then, and I've been told that the parts may not arrive until the middle of October. However, Carson Dodge has been incredibly supportive and helpful throughout this whole process, even though we didn't even get the vehicle from them.
