The Jeep Wrangler is a series of compact and mid-size four-wheel drive off-road SUVs manufactured by Jeep since 1986, and currently in its fourth generation. The Wrangler JL, the most recent generation, was unveiled in late 2017 and is produced at Jeep's Toledo Complex.
The Wrangler is a direct progression from the World War II Jeep, through the CJ (Civilian Jeeps) produced by Willys, Kaiser-Jeep, and American Motors Corporation (AMC) from the mid-1940s through the 1980s. Although neither AMC nor Chrysler (after it purchased AMC in 1987) have claimed that the Wrangler was a direct descendant of the original military model — both the CJ Jeeps and the conceptually consistent Wrangler, with their solid axles and open top, have been called the Jeep model as central to Jeep's brand identity as the rear-engine 911 is to Porsche.
Similar to the Willys MB and the CJ Jeeps before it, all Wrangler models continue to use a separate body and frame, rigid live axles both front and rear, a tapering nose design with flared fenders, a fold-flat windshield and can be driven without doors. Also, with few exceptions, they have part-time four-wheel drive systems, with the choice of high and low gearing, and standard open bodies with removable hard or soft tops. However, the Wrangler series was specifically redesigned to be safer and more comfortable on-road, to attract more daily drivers, by upgrading its suspension, drivetrain, and interior, compared to the CJ line. The suspension on all Wranglers included trackbars and anti-roll bars, and, from the 1997 TJ onwards, front and rear coil springs instead of the previous leaf springs.
From 2004 on, the Wrangler has been complemented with long-wheelbase versions, called Wrangler Unlimited. 2004-2006 models were longer versions with 2 doors. In 2004 only automatic transmission-equipped “Unlimited” versions were sold. In 2005 both an automatic and manual 6-speed (NSG-370) were offered. Since 2007, the long-wheelbase Wranglers were four-door models, offering over 20 in (508 mm) more room. By mid-2017 the four-door models represented three-quarters of all new Wranglers on the market.

- Summary: The manufacturer has not been able to remedy the batteries for electrical propulsion, saying "no remedy available ". Makes me hesitant to drive or park near other vehicles or structures. I have also complained to the dealership, where I purchased my Jeep, about a wobble/shake in the front-end when driving over bumps. After two attempts they have not been able to find a reason for or repair my vehicle. When driving in rain, this condition makes control a dangerous issue in heavy traffic. The most recent occurance was on [XXX] where the posted speed limit is 80mp, accompanied by heavy 18 wheeler traffic! I have also experienced the wobble/shake when traveling [XXX] from Texas to Louisiana, in the rain, surrounded by heavy automobile & 18 wheel traffic once again. This is a very stressful and uncomfortable situation to be in. I have experienced the wobble/shake soon after the purchase of my Jeep, still exists after several mechanical inspections at the dealership where purchased. I have also written a letter to the manufacturer, dated August 22, 2024, for these issues & the devaluation that exists with this particular model, to date I have not received a response! There is no excuse for the inability to repair or respond to my concerns! I have a copy of my letter to Customer Care for Stellantis & recall & repair documents; I am unable to upload at this time. - Summary: The navigation/radio screen has delamination. At first, I thought it was just cosmetic. Starting in July of 2024, it started doing things independently, such as changing channels, the source, and switching between navigation and backup camera; on Oct 4, 3024, it started turning on Bluetooth and calling 911. I can not turn it on because it continues to call 911. The vehicle only has 20,900 miles. The local dealership and Jeep are aware of the problem and have offered to repair it at a cost to me. This is a manufacture defect that needs to be fixed/recalled by Jeep.

- Summary: My 20214XE Hybrid from the day I bought it was often saying "electric not available" There was a potential fire recall last winter that took four months to remedy, during that time we were told not to charge it, park in our garage, park near our home/structures or park by other cars. I purchase a hybrid that I'm not able to use as a hybrid. Finally, got the repair in the spring. Literally, two months later, it starts doing all kinds of dangerous things. I would come to a stop or be in the middle of a turn and would have no power whatsoever, gas pedal to the floor and going nowhere and then would lunge forward. Took to the dealer, computer said CRITICAL hybrid battery overheating, the original repair clearly didn't work. Eventually, it was approved for hybrid battery being replaced. All was well until 2 weeks ago when it got "jeep death wobble", violently shaking back and forth at about 60mph. They did repair it but informed us that there is ANOTHER RISK FOR FIRE RECALL, do not charge it or park in garage, etc. etc. I have a vehicle that is a risk for BURNING MY HOUSE DOWN, this is multiple times and unacceptable. I also purchased a hybrid that I am not able to use as a hybrid.

I have to shut the vehicle down in the roadway and wait to restart the vehicle to clear the issue. It will not even allow me to pull the emergency transmission release when this condition occurs to move the vehicle out of the roadway.

- Summary: Driving on an Interstate Highway in Florida, hit a small "rut" in the roadway at Highway speeds and the front end started shaking "VIOLENTLY" to the point I though the vehicle was going to "Roll Over". I had to slow down, switch from the center lane of a three lane highway crossing over the outside lane then onto the shoulder of the Highway, get the speed down from 70 to 50 mph before the "Violent Shaking" stopped. When speaking with a service center for Jeep I was told this is a "KNOWN ISSUE" with the 2021 Jeep Wrangler but there is no recall for the vehicle year 2021 BUT there were for other vehicle years, which I find UNBELEIVABLE!!!! As a retired Police Officer I will tell you this is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY OR SOMEONE WILL GET KILLED IN A CRASH!!!

- Summary: On 9/29/24 with the rear window removed and the top in a closed position while driving highway speeds, the driver side rear window of my vehicle, without warning, flew off and moments later the rear driver side support flew off. The side windows of the vehicle had previously never been removed. It was a shocking experience that left me quite shaken, yet out of control to mitigate. Fortunately, there were no vehicles immediately behind me taking the impact of flying car parts, however, had there been this could have been deadly. The dealership will not be able to fully access the vehicle until 10/16/24. Upon speaking to the service manager they will take a quick look at it today (9/30)

I bought my first Jeep 18 years ago and this is now my 4th. As a previous Jeep owner, I must say, wow! The vehicle has come a long way since then. The ride is smooth and the handling is tight. Most of the things I used to say could improve the Jeep have been addressed in the newer design. The front section of the Freedom Top is effortless to remove, and the interior design is a drastic improvement. I hope the longevity of the 3.8 V6 is as good as the old 4.0 straight 6.

As an owner of two Wranglers, I was initially skeptical about this redesign. However, after taking it for a spin, I was convinced that it's still a Jeep and better than ever! The new model is beefier, wider, quieter, more comfortable, more powerful and sturdier than my previous Wranglers. During a 250 mile trip, the seats and ride were firm but comfortable, and there was very little wind noise from the new cloth top or around the doors. The radio with 7 speakers was also excellent. The new engine pulls strong and the 6-speed shifts very directly. Overall, I believe that the Jeep folks have hit a home run with this redesign!

There truly is nothing better to drive than a Jeep Wrangler. I have a '02 Wrangler Sport 4.0L with 5-speed manual and you cannot beat the power and ability of this vehicle for its class. Interior / Exterior and everything about it sells me on the fact that I won't drive anything else. In fact my wife have one too if she wouldn't have already bought a Durango (Another Chrysler product of greatness)The only people that care that much about interior changes don't truly DRIVE a Jeep Wrangler. They just sit in it while it's rolling.

I completely understand that getting in and out of the car can be awkward, and it may not be the best for freeway driving or fuel efficiency. However, once you get behind the wheel, your perspective changes. I have personally been driving mine for 19 years, and they really do seem to last forever. While it may not be the smoothest ride at 70mph due to the short wheelbase, wide track, and high center of gravity, it is designed for off-road adventures. Once you leave the pavement, it becomes a master of its environment. Even if you don't spend a lot of time in the backcountry, it's always there in the back of your mind.

I am a loyal customer of Wrangler and have purchased my 5th Wrangler, an Unlimited Rubicon with automatic transmission, in July 2018. The new Wrangler JL is a significant improvement over the old JK, as I experienced during my test drive, which led me to make the purchase. However, I have encountered some issues with the vehicle since the first month of ownership. Despite being told by the dealer that the knock sound from under the car and the rattle sound from the front left side of the dash are normal, I am confident that they are not. I reported the issue with the air condition vent control and the rattle sound to the dealer, and they discovered that the part for the air distribution was missing, which was never installed by the manufacturer. Although it took 12 days for the dealer to fix the issue, I am still experiencing the rattling sound, which is getting worse. The backup camera has also failed twice, with the screen turning completely blue, but it started working again on its own. Recently, the 8.4 touch screen froze twice, rendering all controls, including the air condition controls, voice command button, and dash buttons, unresponsive. I have video evidence of this issue and will take it to the dealer for resolution. Additionally, during the hot Texas summer, the air condition sometimes blows hot air in automatic mode, despite the temperature selector being set to 72. Similarly, during the cold season, the air condition starts to blow cold air every 10-15 minutes and continues for a long time when I use the heater. I am confident that these issues can be resolved by the dealer, and I look forward to a satisfactory resolution.The USB Data is not working as expected. Although I have my iPod connected, I have to unplug it and plug it again in order for the iPod to work. I have never experienced this issue with my previous JKs. As a Rubicon owner who paid 47k for my vehicle, I expect a high level of quality. Despite these issues, I still love my Wrangler and cannot imagine my garage without it. I will take it to the dealer one last time and hope that any future problems will be resolved. While the gas mileage is not as advertised, I have logged 5000 miles so far and am getting 19.0 MPG on the highway with cruise control set at 65 miles/hour. In city driving with traffic, I am getting less than 13 MPG. My advice is to wait for a year or so before buying a new Wrangler, as Jeep company may fix these issues. Overall, I am confident that my purchase will be worth it in the end.

My wife wanted a Jeep and she chose a 2010 3.8 with the 42RLE. We performed an engine flush and used Amsoil Signature Series for the oil. Unfortunately, the motor spun a bearing just 2 thousand miles before the warranty expired. However, we were able to get a brand new long block installed after being without the vehicle for a month. The 3.8 is known for consuming oil and spinning bearings, so we are considering lifting it a couple of inches, adding some tires, a LED light bar, and then selling it. Personally, I prefer the older Jeeps, like my 1979 CJ5 AMC 4 speed with a GMC 350 in it. I find it amusing to see so many people using Jeeps as daily drivers on pavement. Despite my initial review, I still think it's a great vehicle. However, since then, the transaction control has gone out, and the CEL is on for an evap leak. I think it might just need a new gas cap, but I'm not sure. The vehicle will only start in neutral because of a bad sensor in the transmission. When it rains, the seals leak, and since it's a hardtop, the carpet has become moldy and the floorboards are rusty. Overall, it's not the best vehicle I've ever owned, but I'm still hopeful that it will improve.

Although I have experienced some electrical problems and an oil leak with my Jeep, I am confident in the dealership's ability to repair it. The oil leak was fixed within a week of reporting it, and although the dealership has not yet been able to fix the issue with my tire light and door light, I trust that they will find a solution. I have also had some issues with the buttons on my steering wheel and the lights on my shifter, but these were resolved when the blinker arm was replaced. I am currently experiencing an issue with my esc light and a noise when turning left with my brakes applied, but I am confident that the dealership will be able to diagnose and fix the issue. Despite these challenges, I still love the look of my 4 door Jeep Wrangler and am grateful for the extended warranty that covers these repairs.

We had a disappointing experience with our special ordered Jeep, which arrived with several issues such as a leaking Sky1 roof, paint damage down to bare metal, a defective steering wheel, and numerous scratches. We refused to take delivery of the car and the dealer agreed to order another one for us. However, we were later informed that the Mojito Sky1 was not available for order due to some system issues. Despite our attempts to contact Jeep customer care, we received no response for two weeks and were eventually told that the paint was out of stock. We were disappointed with the lack of support from Jeep customer care and the unavailability of the Mojito Sky1. We hope that Jeep can improve their customer service and availability of their products in the future.

The 4XE has been a disappointment. Despite being a $70k vehicle, it has failed to start on multiple occasions and has required towing three times in the six months that I have owned it. Despite contacting Jeep customer service, they have not been able to provide a solution to the issue. Unfortunately, I am unable to use the electric mode for the foreseeable future and have not been compensated for this inconvenience. It is clear that the 4XE is not worth the investment.
