Chrysler problems
FCA US, LLC, doing business as Stellantis North America and known historically as Chrysler (/ˈkraɪslər/ KRY-slər), is one of the "Big Three" automobile manufacturers in the United States, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It is the American subsidiary of the multinational automotive company Stellantis. Stellantis North America sells vehicles worldwide under the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram nameplates. It also includes Mopar, its automotive parts and accessories division, and SRT, its performance automobile division. The division also distributes Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Maserati vehicles in North America.
The original Chrysler Corporation was founded in 1925 by Walter Chrysler from the remains of the Maxwell Motor Company. It was acquired by Daimler-Benz, which in 1998 renamed itself DaimlerChrysler. After Daimler divested from Chrysler in 2007, the company operated as Chrysler LLC (2007–2009), and Chrysler Group LLC (2009–2014) before being acquired by Fiat S.p.A. and becoming a subsidiary of the newly formed Fiat Chrysler Automobiles ("FCA") in 2014. Chrysler in 2021 is a subsidiary of Stellantis, the company formed from the merger between FCA and PSA Group (Peugeot Société Anonyme) in 2021.
After founding the company, Walter Chrysler used the General Motors brand diversification and hierarchy strategy that he had become familiar with when he worked in the Buick division at General Motors. He then acquired Fargo Trucks and the Dodge Brothers Company, and created the Plymouth and DeSoto brands in 1928. Facing postwar declines in market share, productivity, and profitability, as GM and Ford were growing, Chrysler borrowed $250 million in 1954 from Prudential Insurance to pay for expansion and updated car designs.
Chrysler expanded into Europe by taking control of French, British, and Spanish auto companies in the 1960s; Chrysler Europe was sold in 1978 to PSA Peugeot Citroën for $1 billion. The company struggled to adapt to changing markets, increased U.S. import competition, and safety and environmental regulation in the 1970s. It began an engineering partnership with Mitsubishi Motors, and began selling Mitsubishi vehicles branded as Dodge and Plymouth in North America. On the verge of bankruptcy in the late 1970s, it was saved by $1.5 billion in loan guarantees from the U.S. government. New CEO Lee Iacocca was credited with returning the company to profitability in the 1980s. In 1985, Diamond-Star Motors was created, further expanding the Chrysler-Mitsubishi relationship. In 1987, Chrysler acquired American Motors Corporation (AMC), which brought the profitable Jeep, as well as the newly formed Eagle, brands under the Chrysler umbrella. In 1998, Chrysler merged with German automaker Daimler-Benz to form DaimlerChrysler AG; the merger proved contentious with investors. As a result, Chrysler was sold to Cerberus Capital Management and renamed Chrysler LLC in 2007.
Like the other Big Three automobile manufacturers, Chrysler was impacted by the automotive industry crisis of 2008–2010. The company remained in business through a combination of negotiations with creditors, filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization on April 30, 2009, and participating in a bailout from the U.S. government through the Troubled Asset Relief Program. On June 10, 2009, Chrysler emerged from the bankruptcy proceedings with the United Auto Workers pension fund, Fiat S.p.A., and the U.S. and Canadian governments as principal owners. The bankruptcy resulted in Chrysler defaulting on over $4 billion in debts. In May 2011, Chrysler finished repaying its obligations to the U.S. government five years early, although the cost to the American taxpayer was $1.3 billion.
Over the next few years, Fiat S.p.A. gradually acquired the other parties' shares. In January 2014, Fiat acquired the rest of Chrysler from the United Auto Workers retiree health trust, making Chrysler Group a subsidiary of Fiat S.p.A. In May 2014, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was established by merging Fiat S.p.A. into the company. Chrysler Group LLC remained a subsidiary until December 15, 2014, when it was renamed FCA US LLC, to reflect the Fiat-Chrysler merger.
As a result of the merger between FCA and PSA, on 17 January 2021 it became a subsidiary of the Stellantis Group.

Common Chrysler problems
Chrysler cars have been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. One of the most common issues is related to the transmission, particularly in the Chrysler 200 with a 9-speed transmission. This transmission has been known to suffer from hard shifts, lurching problems, and a wiring harness defect that can cause sudden shutdowns or unexpected shifting into neutral.
Another common problem is related to the UConnect infotainment system, which often boots into a blank screen, freezes while the vehicle is in reverse, becomes unresponsive to the touch, or reboots at random times. The UConnect system has grown over the years, both in size and features, but these issues have persisted.
The 2.4L Tigershark engine in some Chrysler models has been reported to have a serious defect that causes an excessive amount of oil to be burned during normal operation. Owners must constantly top off the oil and have consumption tests run at the dealership, or risk the engine seizing up.
The active head restraints in some Chrysler vehicles have been known to deploy randomly at any time due to a mechanical breakdown inside the restraint. This can potentially cause injuries, especially if it happens while driving.
The door panels in the 2nd generation Chrysler 300 have a defect that causes them to warp and pull away from where they meet the window, leaving an unsightly gap and potentially causing more problems than just cosmetic issues. A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Chrysler regarding this issue.
Valve stem corrosion has been reported in some Chrysler vehicles, particularly in the 2010 Town and Country. This is due to the use of aluminum valve stems in the tire pressure monitoring systems, which are highly susceptible to corrosion.
Chrysler vehicles with recalled Takata airbags have been reported to have a problem where the propellant used in the airbags is exploding with such force that it's ripping the inflators into tiny metal fragments and shooting them in the direction of vehicle occupants. This issue is particularly dangerous in low-speed accidents.
The Chrysler 200 has been reported to have an issue where the engine stalls without any sort of warning lights or error code. This dangerous problem has persisted despite an investigation and recall.
These are just a few of the common problems reported by Chrysler owners. It is important for Chrysler to address these issues to ensure the safety and satisfaction of their customers.

- Summary: The vehicle is equipped with multizone AC, and one day the REAR passenger AC system malfunctioned. This occurred during the heatwave period this summer. The AC would not turn off, after multiple attempts, neither through the infotainment screen nor the manual buttons. We tried all possible ways to turn it off and it would not. Furthermore, it was automatically set to high heat, and the temperature also could not be changed. It is available for inspection if needed. Our [XXX] child was the rear seat occupant at the time, and was on the verge of overheating. We took the vehicle to the dealership, explained the issue in detail, and also showed them the clear video evidence of the problem. Because the issue was intermittent, they did not inspect it nor repaired it because it was working fine in their possession. Manufacturer was also notified of the issue, and repeated the same dialogue as the dealer, which is, that they can not resolve it if they can not reproduce it. There were no warning codes, lights, or messages for this issue. After receiving the vehicle back from the dealer, unrepaired, the problem happened again the same day. It is now back at another dealer hoping to be repaired and the issue diagnosed/reproduced. This is making us very nervous if it happens again, during a freeway drive or a long road trip, our road safety and children's health is at risk. The dealership and manufacturer have not demonstrated urgency for this matter, and treat it as any other "intermittent" issue. They advised us to bring it back if it occurs again. Should we really be testing these diagnostics on the road with our children's safety or comfort at stake? Thank you for giving us the opportunity to bring this matter to your attention. - Summary: While driving, the safety mechanism on my driver's seat headrest malfunctioned and launched forward. I was distracted for a minute after while I tried to figure out what just happened. At first I thought someone rear ended me until I saw there was no one behind me. I saw what happened to the headrest after I pulled into a gas station. I didn't take it to a mechanic because they would've wanted over $700 to replace it, which I can't afford. I replaced it myself with a headrest I bought on EBay. I still have the malfunctioned headrest because I'm not sure at this point what to do with it. There was no prior warning of any kind.

- Components: STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: I was turning left into a parking lot when my 2020 Voyager steering stopped working while it started to show all warning lights and the wipers went on, then it went dead, had to be towed on a flatbed to the dealership, and after 4 weeks with no solution in sight, I decided to bring it home and research the solution myself, The problem came from the CAN bus connector located above the glove box, any short or voltage fluctuation from the wires out of the can bus causes the car to go into panic mode, sometimes making the steering wheel stop steering, and the engine to turn off, most of the times it renders the vehicle disabled. One of the connectors goes into the steering module attached to the electric steering column under the car, the pair of wires near the steering module was fused and exposed, touching each other, and the poor wire insulation, proximity of the engine exhaust pipe, and other hot components coupled with an excessive tight cable zip tie caused the damaged to the wire. Chrysler needs to replace wiring coming from the can bus connectors as damages to any of the wires cause wide failure of vital car components while driving. Case and point, a major safety issue with the Chrysler Voyager 2020 and possibly Pacifica 2020 as my steering wheel stopped working while making a left turn that could have caused a crash with incoming traffic. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Chrysler Dealer, but after 4 weeks they were unable to find and fix the issue, they replaced the auxiliary battery and were trying to replace the RFH module by did not fix it, that's when I decided to remove the car and inspect it my self.

- Summary: My wife was driving driving the vehicle on October 21st, 2024. She was shifting from Park to Drive just after our children got out of the vehicle in the school parking lot when the whole vehicle froze up and the dashboard lite up with all error lights including the engine light. It was flashing "Service Hybrid Battery System", "Service Transmission", "Turn off parking brake" and the Vehicle began to power cycle on and off, then on with gas motor, then on with electric motor. The vehicle could not be powered off and it could not be shifted out of gear and the parking brake could not be disengaged. The tow truck had to drag our Pacifica onto the flatbed while it continued to turn on and off and cycle through the engine and hybrid system. This vehicle has 36,000 miles and just had the transmission replaced under the "Recall for hybrid transmission systems" This is the second time this has happened, it originally occurred at 7000 miles and after the dealer had it for a week we were told there was no problem. The dealer had to pull a bunch of fuses and the 12v battery to get the vehicle to stop turning off and on, the same thing happened this time when it was dragged off the flatbed at the dealer.
