2015 Jeep Wrangler problems
The Jeep Wrangler is a series of compact and mid-size four-wheel drive off-road SUVs manufactured by Jeep since 1986, and currently in its fourth generation. The Wrangler JL, the most recent generation, was unveiled in late 2017 and is produced at Jeep's Toledo Complex.
The Wrangler is a direct progression from the World War II Jeep, through the CJ (Civilian Jeeps) produced by Willys, Kaiser-Jeep, and American Motors Corporation (AMC) from the mid-1940s through the 1980s. Although neither AMC nor Chrysler (after it purchased AMC in 1987) have claimed that the Wrangler was a direct descendant of the original military model — both the CJ Jeeps and the conceptually consistent Wrangler, with their solid axles and open top, have been called the Jeep model as central to Jeep's brand identity as the rear-engine 911 is to Porsche.
Similar to the Willys MB and the CJ Jeeps before it, all Wrangler models continue to use a separate body and frame, rigid live axles both front and rear, a tapering nose design with flared fenders, a fold-flat windshield and can be driven without doors. Also, with few exceptions, they have part-time four-wheel drive systems, with the choice of high and low gearing, and standard open bodies with removable hard or soft tops. However, the Wrangler series was specifically redesigned to be safer and more comfortable on-road, to attract more daily drivers, by upgrading its suspension, drivetrain, and interior, compared to the CJ line. The suspension on all Wranglers included trackbars and anti-roll bars, and, from the 1997 TJ onwards, front and rear coil springs instead of the previous leaf springs.
From 2004 on, the Wrangler has been complemented with long-wheelbase versions, called Wrangler Unlimited. 2004-2006 models were longer versions with 2 doors. In 2004 only automatic transmission-equipped “Unlimited” versions were sold. In 2005 both an automatic and manual 6-speed (NSG-370) were offered. Since 2007, the long-wheelbase Wranglers were four-door models, offering over 20 in (508 mm) more room. By mid-2017 the four-door models represented three-quarters of all new Wranglers on the market.

This is a very common problem with the 3.6 engine and FCA should be held responsible for the safety recall. FCA has already acknowledged the problem on 2012-2014 engines, and extended the warranty, but not on the later engines. Please look out for the consumer and hold them accountable.

- Components: ENGINE

Ongoing problem with thousands of other jeeps owners reporting the same issue. during the course of these breakdowns, I’ve had to have my vehicle towed to the repair place twice as the oil had drained out of the vehicle causing fatigue and overheating to the engine. I currently has 95,000 miles on my jeep witch is well taken care of and serviced at the East hills jeep dealership. My concern is future damage to my engine due to the extreme temperatures caused by the lack of oil and overheating due to this defect. How is it that the manufacturer is not held responsible for an obvious defect in a crucial engine component causing multiple replacements to thousands of similar vehicles.

ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-13
- VIN: 1C4GJWBG4FL
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The component that failed is the oil filter housing/assembly. It was changed out by the Pep Boys I do not have it on hand but upon research it appears that this is a known issue on the 3.6 and the 3.2 Chrysler Pentastar engines. Mopar made this part out of entirely plastic and it is now failing on a ton of vehicles. The replacement parts are all made out of metal/aluminum. Safety: this not only put myself at a safety risk but also puts other motorists on the road at risk. Not to mention the environmental safety that this can cause. The plastic part contains the oil filter for the engine. After time it warps and fails causing cracks and seal leaks that allows oil to drain out of the engine, onto the transmission manifold and all over the ground/road. There is no warning for this, one day you will walk out and find your vehicle bleeding all of its oil all over the pavement. This could happen to anyone at any time. I would hate to be on a motorcycle driving behind a Chrysler engine when their engine decides to fall apart and slick up the expressway with motor oil. Jeep/Chrysler knows that this is happening, they know it’s a problem because the replacement part is made of metal instead of plastic, and they refuse to do anything about this even under warranty. This is a part that is NEVER supposed to go bad on any cars, this is NOT a wear and tear part. I would like to see them held accountable for their (lack of) actions.

The 2dr Jeep Wrangler may not be suitable for everyone due to its small size and limited cargo space. However, it is perfect for two people who want to easily maneuver through tight spaces, such as parking lots or off-road terrain. While the ride may be firm, it provides great steering feel when traversing uneven terrain. Additionally, the engine power is perfect for blasting through deep snowdrifts or climbing steep hills. When you're ready to take a break from the long distance ride, the Wrangler allows you to turn off the beaten path and camp overnight in an area that feels untouched. Overall, the Jeep Wrangler 2dr is a unique and adventurous vehicle that offers a one-of-a-kind driving experience.

I bought my 2015 Wrangler Sahara 4 Door brand new and she's been with me for 9 years now. Apart from regular maintenance like changing the tires and brakes, I've had some issues with the cooling system. Unfortunately, I had to replace my 4th thermostat today because it was stuck open and gave me a check engine code of P0128. Luckily, I caught it early and was able to fix it quickly. In the past, I've had to replace the thermostat three times before because it caused erratic temperatures and could have led to overheating if I hadn't been vigilant. Additionally, last year I had to replace the cheap plastic radiator because it had sprung a leak. While the cooling system of this SUV could be better, I still love my Wrangler and all the adventures we've had together!

Looked for years and then this yellow and black Willys wheeler was there. I absolutely love this rig! Everything about it is so well done with style and performance. The sound system, with the sub woofer, is amazing. This moved me from an 01 Isuzu Trooper that I also loved.

I had a bad experience with a Jeep that I purchased from Romano Jeep in Central NY. The heater did not work when I picked it up and it took 6 weeks to get the part. After 12 months, I had to pay $1200 for a tune-up because the ignition coil was bad. At 48 months, the Jeep would not start and it cost me $1100 for a new starter. At 51 months, it did not start again because 2 IC chips went bad, one of which was under warranty, but it still took 3 months to get them and cost me another $1100. Recently, both front brake flex cables clogged and the front end was unstable when coming to a hard stop. I had to replace both cables and the front end work cost me $1150. I have had many new cars in my lifetime, but I never had so many problems with a vehicle as I did with this Jeep. Although I liked the idea of a versatile, tough vehicle, I found out that these new Jeeps are not as tough as they claim to be. I drive it very safely and for everyday use, but the repairs have been costly. I would not buy one again. Before buying a Jeep, I recommend asking your mechanic if they like working on them. You will find out that mechanics hate working on them.

I recently purchased my 2015 JKSU from AutoNation Jeep in Littleton, Colorado in May 2015. Unfortunately, I started hearing a noise from my clutch at 8,000 miles. I contacted the dealership to set up an appointment for service, but due to the building being rebuilt, they were all backed up and I had to wait for about 2 months. Finally, my appointment was scheduled for Monday, September 21, 2015, and my jeep had 15,780 miles on it. Although the dealership could not cover the replacement of the clutch because it is only covered for 12,000 miles, I completely understand their policy. However, when I first reported my issue to the dealership, it only had 8,000 miles on it. The dealership will not warranty it, so I am now dealing with Chrysler themselves. They have asked me to pay $1,750 on a car that is only 5 months old. I am disappointed that the 3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty does not cover this issue. I would advise against buying a manual Jeep. Despite this issue, I still love my Jeep. The 4 lo is insane and the doors and roof come off easily. I even got the car up to 85 mph on my way to Nebraska!

The vehicle was not worth the cost, as it became a pain to own. The TOW package upgrade was not worth the additional cost. The materials used were cheap and the construction was poor. My experiences with the dealer were also bad. As a confident statement, I will never purchase another Chrysler Fodge Jeep Ram product or service again. Despite my tendency to own vehicles for decades, I sold this vehicle as soon as I could.

I always thought Jeeps looked cool and always wanted one. Last month, my wife wrecked her car and we rented a 2015 Jeep while her car was being repaired. As someone who has owned close to 30 cars and trucks in my life, I was disappointed with the driving experience. It felt like driving an old tech tank from 30 years ago. In comparison, my 2001 GMC Yukon drove much better. I hope Chrysler can improve the driving experience of their Jeeps and focus less on making maximum profit. It's sad to see that the refinement of this so-called modern Jeep is non-existent and that there hasn't been much improvement in the past 25 years. The current state of the American car industry is concerning.
