Common Mitsubishi problems
Mitsubishi vehicles are known for their affordability and reliability, but like any other car, they can experience common problems. Here are some of the most frequently reported issues by Mitsubishi owners:
- Transmission Issues: Transmission problems in Mitsubishi vehicles can manifest as slipping gears, harsh shifting, delayed engagement, or complete transmission failure. These issues can be caused by factors such as faulty solenoids, worn-out clutches, malfunctioning sensors, fluid leaks, improper fluid levels, or contaminated transmission fluid. Regular maintenance, including fluid changes and inspections, can help identify potential issues early on and ensure smoother operation.
- AC Failure: Mitsubishi AC failure issues can lead to inadequate cooling, intermittent cooling, or complete AC system failure. The compressor, refrigerant, condenser, or electrical issues could be responsible for these problems. Regular maintenance, including AC system inspections, refrigerant checks, and timely repairs, can help prevent major AC issues and ensure a pleasant and comfortable driving experience.
- DPF Issues: Mitsubishi DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) issues can result in reduced engine performance and increased maintenance costs. Problems can arise when the DPF becomes clogged or fails to regenerate properly. Symptoms of DPF issues include loss of power, increased fuel consumption, and illuminated warning lights. Regular maintenance and timely repairs can help prevent DPF problems and maintain optimal engine performance.
- Oil Clogs and Leaks: Oil clogs and leaks in Mitsubishi vehicles can impact engine performance and potentially cause damage. Regular maintenance, including oil changes and inspections, can help prevent clogs and promptly identify and fix any leaks. This is crucial to ensure the proper functioning and longevity of the engine.
- Car Battery: The car battery is essential for the vehicle's electrical system. Regular inspection, maintenance, and timely battery replacement when necessary are important to avoid unexpected breakdowns.
- Engine Overheating: Engine overheating can be caused by various factors, such as a lack of coolant, a faulty cooling system, or a malfunctioning thermostat. Regular maintenance and timely repairs can help prevent engine overheating and ensure the vehicle's optimal performance and longevity.
- Weak Performance: Weak performance in Mitsubishi vehicles can be a sign of various issues, such as a lack of maintenance, worn-out parts, or a malfunctioning engine. Regular maintenance and timely repairs can help identify and address the underlying causes, restoring proper performance and longevity to the vehicle.
- Incorrect Wheel Alignment: Incorrect wheel alignment can cause vibrations and affect the vehicle's handling and fuel efficiency. Regular wheel alignment checks and adjustments can help prevent these issues and ensure a smoother and safer driving experience.
- Brake System Issues: Brake system issues in Mitsubishi vehicles can include worn-out brake pads, leaking brake lines, or a malfunctioning brake system. Regular inspections and timely repairs can help prevent these issues and ensure the vehicle's safety and reliability.
- Faulty Oil Filters: Faulty oil filters can result in insufficient lubrication for the engine, leading to engine damage and reduced performance. Regular oil changes and inspections can help prevent these issues and ensure the engine's optimal performance and longevity.
In conclusion, regular maintenance and timely repairs can help prevent common problems in Mitsubishi vehicles and ensure their optimal performance and longevity.

- Summary: I bought this car used less than 30 days ago. It had 21362 miles on it. It made a weird nose when putting it into drive. Thought it might be a heatshield. Took it to a mitsubishi dealership for an outstanding recall. Ask them to check underneath. The exhaust pipe was rusted out. 3000 dollars to repair. The dealership didn't believe it cost that much so they used a mechanic they new to fix the issue 10/15/2024. We are not impressed with that repair. It seems the exhaust is not covered under the extended warranty. We feel that mitsubishi should cover this because they do have a warranty of 5-6 years for the exhaust system. A car with this low mileage should not already have the exhaust rusted out.
