Ford F-150 problems

The Ford F-Series is a series of light-duty trucks marketed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company since the 1948 model year. The F-Series is marketed as a range of full-sized pickup trucks positioned above the midsize Ranger but below the larger Super Duty in the Ford truck lineup. Alongside the F-150 (introduced in 1975), the F-Series also includes the Super Duty series (introduced in 1999), which includes the heavier-duty F-250 through F-450 pickups, F-450/F-550 chassis cabs, and F-600/F-650/F-750 Class 6–8 commercial trucks.
History
The F-Series was first introduced in 1948 as a replacement for a previous pickup model line based on car platforms.
The most popular version of the model line is the F-150 pickup truck, currently in its fourteenth generation (introduced for the 2021 model year). From 1953 to 1983, the entry-level F-Series pickup was the 1⁄2 ton F-100. Starting in 1984, the F-150 became the entry-level. The F-150 has a long-running high-performance off-road trim level introduced for 2010, the (SVT) Raptor currently consisting of three generations. Production of the F-150 SVT Raptor ended in 2014 and it was planned to be succeeded by a new F-150 Raptor, which is based on the thirteenth and fourteenth generation F-150.
The F-Series trucks have been developed into a wide range of design configurations. Alongside medium-duty trucks and "Big Job" conventional trucks (the forerunners of the Ford L-series), the model line has been marketed as a chassis-cab truck and a panel van (a predecessor of the Ford E-Series). The F-Series has served as the platform for various full-sized Ford SUVs, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Excursion. The F-Series has been marketed by its three North American brands: by Mercury as the M-Series (in Canada from 1948 to 1968), and by Lincoln in the 2000s, as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT (2010s for the latter in Mexico only).
Since 1977, the F-Series has remained the best-selling pickup truck line in the United States; it has been the best-selling vehicle overall since 1981. The F-Series has been the best-selling truck in Canada for over fifty years. As of the 2018 model year, the F-Series generated $41 billion (~$49 billion in 2023) in annual revenue for Ford. By January 2022, the F-Series models have sold over 40 million units. Currently, Ford manufactures the F-Series in four facilities in the United States.

Common Ford F-150 problems
The Ford F-150, a popular pickup truck model, has faced various issues over the years, as reported by its owners. These problems range from engine issues to transmission problems and even interior design flaws.
One common issue with the 2015-2017 Ford F-150 models is transmission problems, which lead to rough shifting. The 2015 models, in particular, have experienced transmission issues that cause difficulty when shifting gears. The 2016 models also face engine problems, while the 2017 models have experienced a large recall due to a faulty transmission gear indicator.
The MyFord Touch feature, which was intended to enhance the technological options of the console, has been found unreliable by many owners, leading to a class-action lawsuit. The feature has been reported to disable certain vital vehicle commands, such as the defroster or rear-view camera.
Another significant problem with the 2015-2017 F-Series trucks is a frozen door handle latch issue, which has also been reported in 1997-2000 and 2005-2008 F-150 models. Ford initially blamed the issue on users over-torquing replacement spark plugs, but owners have reported that the original spark plugs ejected from the vehicle.
The 1987-1996 Ford F-150 models also experienced transmission problems, with many owners reporting rough shifting and difficulty changing gears.
In summary, the Ford F-150 has faced various issues over the years, including transmission problems, engine issues, and unreliable technological features. These problems have led to recalls, class-action lawsuits, and dissatisfied owners. However, with proper maintenance, many of these issues can be avoided or addressed in a timely manner.

I've been driving this truck for a while now and have noticed a few things that could be improved. With the cooler weather setting in, I've found that the truck takes a while to warm up and provide heat. Even after idling for 5 minutes and driving for 10 miles, I still don't feel the warmth. Additionally, the idle when the truck is cold is too high, which can be a bit startling if you need to drive immediately after starting. While the auto start/stop feature may seem like a good idea, I haven't noticed any fuel savings and it seems to cause the truck to start more frequently than necessary. Despite these issues, I still have a soft spot for this truck. I love the power of the 2.7L twin turbo engine, which allows me to beat my friend's Tundra with a V-8. As a Ford enthusiast, I do think that Ford could improve on their standard features. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the Bronco in 2020 since I decided to lease it.

Hello again! I am still in awe of this amazing truck (since 10/13/2010). However, I recently had the opportunity to drive two of Ford's new 2011 F150 engines. The first was a 5.0 powered Lariat 4x4 with a 3.55 rear. Compared to my 5.4 and 3.73 combo, this truck outpaced mine steadily. It has great torque down low for being just 5.0 liters, yet loves to rev and run on the highway. The next one was a 4x4 FX-4 with ecoboost 3.5 and 3.73 rear, supercrew 5.5 bed, and it was amazing! It was so fast! It's not fair! I will admit that my old 5.4 seems a bit tepid after driving these two beasts. The 5.0 sounds sexy and very refined! I still love my 5.4 powered 2009, but ...

As someone who has worked at a dealership, I have had the opportunity to test every square inch of these new pickups. I believe that as long as you choose the right engine for your needs and get all the features you want, you will fall in love with this truck more and more every day you drive it. For me, the 2.7L V6 Ecoboost was the perfect choice as it has a towing capacity of 7600lbs and is great for pulling small campers or boats. The same engineers who created the new 6.7L Powerstroke motor in 2011 are the ones who created this 2.7L Ecoboost motor. With a CGI block and diesel-inspired pistons, you can really feel how amazing this motor is while still getting great gas mileage. I have had many farmers and ranchers ride in my pickup who drive every brand of truck out there and are all diesel heads and are amazed by what this pick up can do. Contrary to popular belief, the aluminum is better than steel in every way. It is safer for everybody inside and more dent-resistant with the inability to rust. Ford has done a ton of work to make sure that it's not more expensive to get fixed than the old style. For example, the front quarter panels are the exact same cost to replace in aluminum as they were in steel. When you get below the surface down to the frame and everything else, there isn't a pick-up out there that can even come close. No body has a stronger frame or a better-designed body to protect everything. For instance, Chevy has absolutely nothing protecting the engine compartment, whereas Ford has more protection not only in the front of the truck but everywhere else around it as well. Speaking to any Ford dealership's truck expert can show you every little advantage, down to the bed bolts instead of the welds like other trucks. After owning and driving other competitors and spending weeks studying all trucks from top to bottom, I can confidently say that there is no better truck to buy than a Ford. When you invest in a Ford, you're not just paying for the name, but for the exceptional quality both inside and out that no other truck can match.

I bought the 4.6 L V8 4x4 XLT when our kids were just small enough to fit easily in the extended cab. Now that they're grown and gone, the truck keeps on doing truck duty. It's been great for hauling boats, camping gear, motorcycles, and ski equipment. I've only needed to replace the brakes and shocks, and with regular maintenance, it's still going strong. When I see the prices and fuel efficiency of newer trucks, I can't help but laugh because my truck still holds up well.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my truck. I bought it brand new and have been really impressed with it. While it's not the fastest or most powerful truck out there, it's definitely held its own as a 1/2 ton truck. With the 5 speed, it's surprisingly peppy for having a 4.2 liter engine. I've also had no issues towing other cars or pulling loaded trailers. On the interstate, I usually get around 22 MPG, which is great. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

I was thrilled to finally get my hands on the new F150 King Ranch powerboost hybrid after waiting for three years. I absolutely adore this truck! However, I have been experiencing some frustration lately and I'm not sure if it's due to the many new features or if it's an issue with American Vehicles or Ford. I received this truck 8 months ago and here's what I've experienced: I've had to take it in for repairs 4 times already, and my second new F150 had to be returned. The gas door stem broke twice, which meant spending half a day in the shop each time to replace a small plastic piece that is bound to break again. Once, I couldn't shift out of park even with the truck running and had to be towed, which resulted in a 3-day wait to get it back. Lastly, the shifter wouldn't go down to use the cool little desk, which meant another whole day in the shop. By contrast, my previous vehicle was a Lexus CT200h Hybrid that cost half as much, and in 9 years and over 200,000 miles, I only had one minor repair. Despite these issues, I still love driving my truck and I hope that Ford can figure out these problems soon.

This truck has had a number of issues after the 100,000-mile warranty ended. Despite having only 113,000 miles, I have had to replace several parts, including the spark plugs, transmission, alternator, rotors, throttle body, battery, and differentials. Despite my loyalty to Ford, I am disappointed that they have not taken responsibility for these issues. While they claim that I tow too much, I have never towed anything with this truck. I believe that Ford should have investigated these problems, even though the warranty has expired. As a result, I am considering switching to a different brand. To avoid significant out-of-pocket expenses, I recommend extending your warranty if you own this truck.

Hey there! I wanted to let you know that my truck is built tough and can handle whatever I put it through. Whether it's off-road or on-road, it's super dependable and will run for a long time. By the way, it's also for sale if you're interested!

This purchase has been disappointing since day one. However, it is important to note that these trucks have a few major issues, such as coil packs failing frequently between 20,000 to 35,000 miles, front wheel bearings failing every 25,000 miles, and rear differentials failing twice in 104,000 miles. It is worth noting that this truck is not used for heavy towing or off-roading, and the issues may be due to poor craftsmanship.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my truck. I used to have a 1997 F 150 that lasted me an impressive 295,000 miles before the engine finally gave out. I was in a tough spot financially and needed a reliable trailer puller, so I ended up purchasing a 93 extended cab 351W 4x4 long bed with trailer package. When I bought it, it had 135k miles on it, and now it's at 147k. I recently replaced the engine with a 351 RV improved remanufactured engine, but I think I might be having some issues with the transmission, which is affecting the power. Currently, I'm getting about 12 mpg, which could be a concern if fuel prices continue to rise. However, it's been serving me well as a daily driver. Overall, I think it's a great value for the money, especially if you're willing to invest in a rebuilt motor and transmission. It definitely gets the job done!
