The Ford F-Series is a series of light-duty trucks marketed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company since the 1948 model year. The F-Series is marketed as a range of full-sized pickup trucks positioned above the midsize Ranger but below the larger Super Duty in the Ford truck lineup. The F-Series was first introduced in 1948 as a replacement for a previous pickup model line based on car platforms.
The most popular version of the model line is the F-150 pickup truck, currently in its fourteenth generation (introduced for the 2021 model year). From 1953 to 1983, the entry-level F-Series pickup was the 1⁄2 ton F-100. Starting in 1984, the F-150 became the entry-level. The F-150 has a long-running high-performance off-road trim level introduced for 2010, the (SVT) Raptor currently consisting of three generations. Production of the F-150 SVT Raptor ended in 2014 and it was planned to be succeeded by a new F-150 Raptor, which is based on the thirteenth and fourteenth generation F-150.
The F-Series trucks have been developed into a wide range of design configurations. Alongside medium-duty trucks and "Big Job" conventional trucks (the forerunners of the Ford L-series), the model line has been marketed as a chassis-cab truck and a panel van (a predecessor of the Ford E-Series). The F-Series has served as the platform for various full-sized Ford SUVs, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Excursion. The F-Series has been marketed by its three North American brands: by Mercury as the M-Series (in Canada from 1948 to 1968), and by Lincoln in the 2000s, as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT (2010s for the latter in Mexico only).
Since 1977, the F-Series has remained the best-selling pickup truck line in the United States; it has been the best-selling vehicle overall since 1981. The F-Series has been the best-selling truck in Canada for over fifty years. As of the 2018 model year, the F-Series generated $41 billion (~$49 billion in 2023) in annual revenue for Ford. By January 2022, the F-Series models have sold over 40 million units. Currently, Ford manufactures the F-Series in four facilities in the United States.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my 2013 F-150 STX. I bought it brand new and opted for the 5.0 V-8 Flex fuel engine and 6-speed transmission. Let me tell you, this truck has some great features! It has excellent power and throttle response, and I was able to tow about 8,500 lbs from TX to KY and back without any issues. The interior is spacious, even with the super cab, and there's plenty of cargo space with the 6.5 ft bed. Plus, it's super low maintenance! Of course, there are a few downsides, like a vibration between 55-75 mph (even after new tires and rims), and the front door hinges allow the doors to open too wide or too narrow, which can be a bit of an issue when parking between vehicles or trying to open the back suicide door. Also, the center console of the 40 20 40 split bench seats is not the best, as it doesn't offer any cup holders or storage on the armrest. However, overall, I had a great experience with this truck, and the negative highlights weren't enough to ruin it for me. I think the STX package offers the perfect amount of luxury for a work vehicle or backup truck, without sacrificing its use for special weekend projects or long hauls. Thanks for reading!

Update on the truck: As of 2021, the truck has run like a champ with no issues. It only needs exhaust work done to patch holes rusting into the system. The truck has been used and abused daily with no hesitation from the vehicle at all. Highly recommended if you intend to bulletproof the block and keep up on maintenance. Gas mileage is what's to be expected of a vehicle of this type and it has enough pickup to feel adequate and features to match. Off-road capabilities are really good with oversized wheels and tires and a 4wd system that works. Would recommend if you plan on taking care of it! Purchased in Dec. 2018 with 146k on it, the dealer replaced the cam phasers free of charge and went 1/2 on the 4wd fix. After fixes, this thing runs really smooth and has plenty of towing abilities and cargo space to suit our family needs. This truck is an FX4 but also has a 2in lift, and Air Lift suspension, cold air intake and straight-piped exhaust with a few other features someone took the time to install on the truck from the factory. Once we finally had it home went through and did a small tune-up (plugs, belts, synthetic oil) to it and it runs way better. I intend to go through more in-depth once it warms up and swap all the fluids. Have had this for over a year and put next to no miles on it. Has started reliably every time though and driven in some nasty conditions without getting stuck or showing signs of giving out. Has been a great home depot runner for building materials and towing. Only thing I have noticed is the ratio may be going out, which is common for a vehicle of this age and intend on replacing it.

This truck is fantastic! I have been driving it for a couple of months now and I am already getting better gas mileage than my previous 08 explorer. With the 20 inch wheels, chrome and trailer towing package, this truck is a real powerhouse. Despite the cold weather affecting the mpg, I am still getting an impressive 24 mpg on the highway (USA) and I am confident that I will reach the gov rated 27 mpg by the time I get to Texas. By losing the pounds of the eco charger and 4x4, I can get great city mileage even with my wife onboard! The only minor issue I have is when my dog gets out on my side, he turns the heat and fan to full because the knobs have such a good grip. However, this is a small price to pay for such a fantastic truck. Update 2016/5/5: When I bought the vehicle, it came with a tonneau cover and twenty inch wheels - I added back wheel liners which are not included. Wind and temperature can affect mileage, but even in cold weather with a headwind, I still get an impressive 23 to 25 mpg on the highway. In warm weather with a tailwind, I get 25 to 30 mpg. I even managed to get 25 mpg driving 2000 miles from Canada to RGV Texas at 70 mph in spring and fall. While speed from 55 to 75 mph will vary mpg by 1.5 gallons, I still manage to get 18 to 22 mpg in the city depending on the temperature. Update 2016/11/4: This truck still runs like it was new! I always get great mileage and for the trip to RGV, it always shows 510 mpg = 820 km after a full up. If it was not for flying stones hitting windshields or drivers turning in front of you when they shouldn't, I would never need to bring her in for a checkup.

I recently sold my 2008 F150 extended cab with the 4.6L V8 engine and it was a great experience! I never had any problems with it and it never left me stranded. The only minor issue I had was with the throttle body, but it was an easy fix. The engine sounds amazing and runs smoothly, but the 4-speed automatic transmission could use some improvement, especially when towing near the maximum capacity. The audio system is decent, but could benefit from more bass. If you're thinking about purchasing this truck, just make sure you have enough funds saved up for the fuel economy.

I recently purchased a 2016 F-150 King Ranch with the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost and was excited to experience the new truck feeling. However, I encountered some issues with the brakes failing due to brake fluid leakage from the master cylinder into the brake booster. This is a very dangerous defect that Ford has known about for four years and has even recalled 2013 and 2014 models for the same issue. Although my truck was repaired under warranty, it is concerning that such a dangerous defect was allowed to persist for so long. In addition to this, I also experienced defects with the interior console, chrome grille, and excessive wind noise. Despite Ford's claim that customer satisfaction is their number one goal, I was disappointed with their lack of customer appreciation. When trying to get warranty service performed, the dealership was forced to go through a prior approval process where someone sitting in Ford's corporate offices looked for every way possible to deny a warranty claim. The dealer had no recourse when a warranty claim was denied except to pay for the repair out of their own pocket. When calling their Customer Relationship Center, I spoke with an unknowledgeable representative who could do nothing to help me except say they were sorry. I hope that Ford can improve their quality and customer service in the future.The dealer initially agreed to cover the damage to my truck's grille and even ordered a replacement. However, when they submitted the claim for prior approval, it was denied by Ford corporate, citing that the damage was caused by a solvent and should have been noted at the time of delivery or submitted within a week to be covered. Unfortunately, the defect is not easily noticeable on cursory inspection due to the chrome surface. While I understand that it was my mistake to assume it would be covered by warranty, I do feel that Ford could have been more considerate given the cost of the truck. As someone who has purchased many new vehicles from different brands, I have never received such poor treatment with regard to warranty service. This is my first Ford and I hope my experience with this truck improves dramatically. If you're in the market for a new truck, I would recommend considering a Sierra or Silverado, which are comparably equipped and cost $3,000 - $5,000 less. I believe you'll be treated more like an appreciated customer.

I am sorry to hear about the issues you have been experiencing with your F-150. It must be frustrating to have taken it to two dealerships and still not have the issue resolved. Overall, I'm glad I bought this truck. I have the SXT model and it has enough power to pull trailers with wood or boats, etc. I opted for the rubber floor and cloth interior, along with roll down windows. The only extras I added were the AC and cruise control.

I bought this truck with 136,000 km on it. I needed something reliable for work, and the truck was great. Its motor ran smoothly and everything was responsive. So far, I haven't had any major issues. The only complaint I have is that, for a V8 engine, it was a bit lazy. I tried replacing the spark plugs and gas filter, but the truck still moved slowly. Other than that, the truck was great. I didn't have any real problems other than basic upkeep. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs a solid truck.
