The Ford F-Series is a series of light-duty trucks marketed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company since the 1948 model year. The F-Series is marketed as a range of full-sized pickup trucks positioned above the midsize Ranger but below the larger Super Duty in the Ford truck lineup. Alongside the F-150 (introduced in 1975), the F-Series also includes the Super Duty series (introduced in 1999), which includes the heavier-duty F-250 through F-450 pickups, F-450/F-550 chassis cabs, and F-600/F-650/F-750 Class 6–8 commercial trucks.

The F-Series was first introduced in 1948 as a replacement for a previous pickup model line based on car platforms.
The most popular version of the model line is the F-150 pickup truck, currently in its fourteenth generation (introduced for the 2021 model year). From 1953 to 1983, the entry-level F-Series pickup was the 1⁄2 ton F-100. Starting in 1984, the F-150 became the entry-level. The F-150 has a long-running high-performance off-road trim level introduced for 2010, the (SVT) Raptor currently consisting of three generations. Production of the F-150 SVT Raptor ended in 2014 and it was planned to be succeeded by a new F-150 Raptor, which is based on the thirteenth and fourteenth generation F-150.
The F-Series trucks have been developed into a wide range of design configurations. Alongside medium-duty trucks and "Big Job" conventional trucks (the forerunners of the Ford L-series), the model line has been marketed as a chassis-cab truck and a panel van (a predecessor of the Ford E-Series). The F-Series has served as the platform for various full-sized Ford SUVs, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Excursion. The F-Series has been marketed by its three North American brands: by Mercury as the M-Series (in Canada from 1948 to 1968), and by Lincoln in the 2000s, as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT (2010s for the latter in Mexico only).
Since 1977, the F-Series has remained the best-selling pickup truck line in the United States; it has been the best-selling vehicle overall since 1981. The F-Series has been the best-selling truck in Canada for over fifty years. As of the 2018 model year, the F-Series generated $41 billion (~$49 billion in 2023) in annual revenue for Ford. By January 2022, the F-Series models have sold over 40 million units. Currently, Ford manufactures the F-Series in four facilities in the United States.

It's great to hear that the vehicle has found a new home and is now happily spending its retirement years taking care of the yard. With only 105k on the clock and a fresh tune-up, it's good to go for a while. We decided to downsize and stop paying Allstate to park it. Although it's not listed, ours was the 5.4.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share some information about my truck with you. Since May 08, I've put about 4200 miles on it and it's been running great! It gets about 20 miles per gallon on the highway and 15 miles per gallon in the city. It always starts up and is very peppy. I even put a cherrybomb on it and eventually I plan to put 265/75/16 on a 2wd. I'm hoping it'll pay off in the winter. All in all, it's a great truck to own!

I bought my truck in September of last year and I absolutely love it! When I bought her, she had 120,000 miles on her, but I've already put about 30,000 more on her. She's amazing at climbing mountains and off-roading, and I've had so much fun in her. She's also incredibly reliable - I've only had to replace the alternator since I got her. Every morning, she starts up without fail and takes me to work. I can't say enough good things about my Ford! :)

Your truck sounds like a great investment! It's been on some amazing trips and has held up really well. You've had no issues with its reliability or performance, and it handles beautifully. While you didn't quite get the fuel mileage you were hoping for, it's still impressive for a full-sized truck. Overall, it sounds like you made a fantastic choice and are really happy with your purchase. If you had to do it all over again, you'd make the same decision!

I've had some issues with my F150 trucks, unfortunately. My first one had some engine problems, and Ford had to buy it back. The second one has also had some hesitations, despite numerous updates and part changes. I've also had some trouble with Sync, the A/C, and a driveline vibration. On top of that, the fuel economy hasn't been as good as advertised. Recently, I got the results of an oil analysis, and it seems that many other Ecoboost owners are experiencing high fuel dilution in their oil, which is a concern. I hope these engines will last beyond 100,000 miles, but I'm not sure.

I was pleasantly surprised by how roomy the interior is for the size of the truck. Although the seats are comfortable and accommodating, they do tend to stain easily, which can be a bit of a hassle to clean. After driving my Ford for 23k miles, I have noticed a few issues that are a bit disheartening. Firstly, it always seems to be a quart low on oil. Secondly, there is always a smell of hot brakes and burnt oil after even a 40-mile drive. Thirdly, the bed liner is not of the highest quality. Fourthly, there is a slight shutter/ticking sound at slow speeds, along with a clunking sound when accelerating from a stop as the weight shifts. Lastly, the gas mileage is not great, even when hauling a refrigerator. Despite having the 5.4L engine, I would still expect better mileage.

1. I would recommend against purchasing this truck. 2. Unfortunately, the motor has some issues that Ford has been unable to resolve. Since purchasing it, I have had to take it to the shop at least 5 times for the same problems. 3. The gas mileage estimates are not accurate, and I have found that even when driving at a steady 65 mph on a flat highway, I only get around 17.5 MPG. On average, my truck gets 14.9 MPG. 4. The suspension has been problematic, and despite multiple attempts by Ford to fix it, the issues persist. I was even given a can of WD40 by the Ford Service Writer as a temporary solution to the constant squeaking, but unfortunately it did not work. I have been spraying it daily for a week with no improvement. As a result, my neighbors have mistaken my truck for a much older vehicle.

After purchasing the truck, I noticed that it started running rough between 40 and 60 mph, even though it had only been driven for about 400 miles. At first, I thought the engine was missing, but the service technician informed me that it was actually the transmission hunting for gears. Surprisingly, it wasn't shifting gears when the rough running occurred. This usually happened when the cruise control increased power slightly while driving on a relatively flat road. The service team suggested that I drive it for 1000 miles and it would straighten itself out, but unfortunately, that didn't happen. After the third trip to the service center, they informed me that it's just how the truck shifts and I should get used to it. However, I don't think a 50K vehicle should feel like it's continually missing or hesitating.

The small twin turbo motor (2.7) is great! It has really good acceleration, is responsive, and gets good gas mileage. So far, I've been getting 21-22 MPG in combined highway and local driving, even when driving reasonably conservatively. For true mileage, calculate it yourself, as the truck computer ends up displaying 2-5 miles per gallon more than you're really getting. The cabin is very quiet and the ride is quite comfortable, except when you go over bumps of course. The seating position in the front is good and the rear seats are better than I thought they would be. They're actually tolerable for adults of average height for short rides. I do wish Ford would sell an accessory lockable gas plug for the truck. However, the huge annoyance with this truck is the auto-engine-off. Although Ford gives you an override button, deactivating the auto-engine-off is only good for one driving cycle, so you have to push it every time you get in the truck if you don't want the engine shutting down every time you come to a stop. You might come to a stop for just one second, and the engine shuts down! Also, make sure you want a large truck, as this thing is big.
