The Ford F-Series is a series of light-duty trucks marketed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company since the 1948 model year. The F-Series is marketed as a range of full-sized pickup trucks positioned above the midsize Ranger but below the larger Super Duty in the Ford truck lineup. Alongside the F-150 (introduced in 1975), the F-Series also includes the Super Duty series (introduced in 1999), which includes the heavier-duty F-250 through F-450 pickups, F-450/F-550 chassis cabs, and F-600/F-650/F-750 Class 6–8 commercial trucks.
History
The F-Series was first introduced in 1948 as a replacement for a previous pickup model line based on car platforms.
The most popular version of the model line is the F-150 pickup truck, currently in its fourteenth generation (introduced for the 2021 model year). From 1953 to 1983, the entry-level F-Series pickup was the 1⁄2 ton F-100. Starting in 1984, the F-150 became the entry-level. The F-150 has a long-running high-performance off-road trim level introduced for 2010, the (SVT) Raptor currently consisting of three generations. Production of the F-150 SVT Raptor ended in 2014 and it was planned to be succeeded by a new F-150 Raptor, which is based on the thirteenth and fourteenth generation F-150.
The F-Series trucks have been developed into a wide range of design configurations. Alongside medium-duty trucks and "Big Job" conventional trucks (the forerunners of the Ford L-series), the model line has been marketed as a chassis-cab truck and a panel van (a predecessor of the Ford E-Series). The F-Series has served as the platform for various full-sized Ford SUVs, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Excursion. The F-Series has been marketed by its three North American brands: by Mercury as the M-Series (in Canada from 1948 to 1968), and by Lincoln in the 2000s, as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT (2010s for the latter in Mexico only).
Since 1977, the F-Series has remained the best-selling pickup truck line in the United States; it has been the best-selling vehicle overall since 1981. The F-Series has been the best-selling truck in Canada for over fifty years. As of the 2018 model year, the F-Series generated $41 billion (~$49 billion in 2023) in annual revenue for Ford. By January 2022, the F-Series models have sold over 40 million units. Currently, Ford manufactures the F-Series in four facilities in the United States.

AND WHY DIDN'T THE AIRBAGS INFLATE FROM THE IMPACT TO THE CAR IN FRONT? FROM THE DAMAGE TO ALL THE VEHICLES INVOLVED YOU CAN SEE THAT IT WAS A VERY HARD IMPACT.

Update on the truck: As of 2021, the truck has run like a champ with no issues. It only needs exhaust work done to patch holes rusting into the system. The truck has been used and abused daily with no hesitation from the vehicle at all. Highly recommended if you intend to bulletproof the block and keep up on maintenance. Gas mileage is what's to be expected of a vehicle of this type and it has enough pickup to feel adequate and features to match. Off-road capabilities are really good with oversized wheels and tires and a 4wd system that works. Would recommend if you plan on taking care of it! Purchased in Dec. 2018 with 146k on it, the dealer replaced the cam phasers free of charge and went 1/2 on the 4wd fix. After fixes, this thing runs really smooth and has plenty of towing abilities and cargo space to suit our family needs. This truck is an FX4 but also has a 2in lift, and Air Lift suspension, cold air intake and straight-piped exhaust with a few other features someone took the time to install on the truck from the factory. Once we finally had it home went through and did a small tune-up (plugs, belts, synthetic oil) to it and it runs way better. I intend to go through more in-depth once it warms up and swap all the fluids. Have had this for over a year and put next to no miles on it. Has started reliably every time though and driven in some nasty conditions without getting stuck or showing signs of giving out. Has been a great home depot runner for building materials and towing. Only thing I have noticed is the ratio may be going out, which is common for a vehicle of this age and intend on replacing it.

I recently sold my 2008 F150 extended cab with the 4.6L V8 engine and it was a great experience! I never had any problems with it and it never left me stranded. The only minor issue I had was with the throttle body, but it was an easy fix. The engine sounds amazing and runs smoothly, but the 4-speed automatic transmission could use some improvement, especially when towing near the maximum capacity. The audio system is decent, but could benefit from more bass. If you're thinking about purchasing this truck, just make sure you have enough funds saved up for the fuel economy.

I purchased my 2008 F-150 in January 2009 during a time when gas prices were sky-high and people were hesitant to buy trucks. The price I paid was $12,995, and I was thrilled to receive $3000 for my 2001 Dodge Ram trade-in, which had a faulty transmission. Since then, I have owned the truck for 11 years and have only had to replace the front brakes at 75K and the tires. Although the brake job seemed too soon, I am not complaining. The only downside to this truck is its rough ride, which can be bone-rattling on any degree of rough road. To counteract this, I always keep a full tank of gas to add weight, which seems to help. However, the new Bridgestone tires are far worse than the original Michelin's, so I recommend sticking with the original tires when it's time for a replacement. Additionally, I recently noticed a clicking or ticking sound when idling, which may indicate that a drive belt needs replacing. Overall, this has been an excellent truck that has proven to be absolutely reliable. With 86K miles on it after 11 years, I expect it to outlast me. My wife's Toyota Corolla and my truck are likely the last vehicles we will ever need to purchase.

Your truck has exceeded your expectations in every category! That's amazing! On your recent long trip across PA, you got just over 20 mpg at around 65 mph, which is really impressive considering your truck only has 1200 miles on it. And the best part is, the mileage should only get better! Adding an exhaust and cold-air intake will definitely help with that. Plus, the comfort is excellent for long hauls and it's really quiet. You've driven a variety of trucks over the years, but nothing compares to this one. You couldn't ask for a better truck!

I have driven many different trucks, but I always come back to Ford. They did an outstanding job with this truck. 300 HP is plenty for anyone who knows trucks, and 365 torque is where it's at. It drives like a dream, and 4WD in the snow is great. I think this may be my last truck for some years to come. I'm very happy!

The 2008 F-150 has had some issues, but I have gained extensive experience in repairing and maintaining it. Through my expertise, I have successfully installed three transmissions, two engines, and resolved countless other incidentals. While there have been issues with spark plugs stripping out of the heads, I have the knowledge and skills to address this problem. Overall, I believe that the 2008 F-150 is a reliable truck that can be a great investment with proper care and attention.
