2018 Ford F-150 problems
The Ford F-Series is a series of light-duty trucks marketed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company since the 1948 model year. The F-Series is marketed as a range of full-sized pickup trucks positioned above the midsize Ranger but below the larger Super Duty in the Ford truck lineup. Alongside the F-150 (introduced in 1975), the F-Series also includes the Super Duty series (introduced in 1999), which includes the heavier-duty F-250 through F-450 pickups, F-450/F-550 chassis cabs, and F-600/F-650/F-750 Class 6–8 commercial trucks.
History
The F-Series was first introduced in 1948 as a replacement for a previous pickup model line based on car platforms.
The most popular version of the model line is the F-150 pickup truck, currently in its fourteenth generation (introduced for the 2021 model year). From 1953 to 1983, the entry-level F-Series pickup was the 1⁄2 ton F-100. Starting in 1984, the F-150 became the entry-level. The F-150 has a long-running high-performance off-road trim level introduced for 2010, the (SVT) Raptor currently consisting of three generations. Production of the F-150 SVT Raptor ended in 2014 and it was planned to be succeeded by a new F-150 Raptor, which is based on the thirteenth and fourteenth generation F-150.
The F-Series trucks have been developed into a wide range of design configurations. Alongside medium-duty trucks and "Big Job" conventional trucks (the forerunners of the Ford L-series), the model line has been marketed as a chassis-cab truck and a panel van (a predecessor of the Ford E-Series). The F-Series has served as the platform for various full-sized Ford SUVs, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Excursion. The F-Series has been marketed by its three North American brands: by Mercury as the M-Series (in Canada from 1948 to 1968), and by Lincoln in the 2000s, as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT (2010s for the latter in Mexico only).
Since 1977, the F-Series has remained the best-selling pickup truck line in the United States; it has been the best-selling vehicle overall since 1981. The F-Series has been the best-selling truck in Canada for over fifty years. As of the 2018 model year, the F-Series generated $41 billion (~$49 billion in 2023) in annual revenue for Ford. By January 2022, the F-Series models have sold over 40 million units. Currently, Ford manufactures the F-Series in four facilities in the United States.

Before shopping for this vehicle, I considered some other options. Although the Ram 1500 had a much better lease deal, I decided to lease this Ford because I wanted the option to keep the vehicle longer term. I have been driving it for about 3 weeks now and overall, it drives great. However, I have noticed some occasional shaking of the transmission at lower speeds. It's still too soon to know what's going on, but I'm keeping an eye on it. In terms of mileage, I got about 22mpg mixed city and highway in the first week, but it dropped to about 18. I'm still trying to figure out this mystery, but I'm driving with the same gas tank from the dealership.

- The 302 - 5.0 V8 engine has a unique sound that reminds me of a flamenco dancer with castanets performing under the hood. However, I have noticed some lifter clatter that sounds like a diesel engine. Despite trying different types of fuel and oil, the clatter persists. Have any Mustang owners experienced this too? On a separate note, as a loyal Ford customer for over 25 years, I have noticed a few recalls on my 2014 Ford Fusion and 2018 Ford F150 XLT Crew Cab. It would be helpful if Ford could provide a comprehensive recall booklet for customers to easily keep track of the latest information. As a Quality Engineer for 32 years, I hope to see improvements in Ford's quality control in the future. Despite these issues, I still enjoy driving my Ford vehicles. Whenever you accelerate with a lukewarm motor, it tends to clatter. This is not the audible chain slap phenomenon that these engines are notorious for. That can be irritating too. When sitting at idle or driving slow, rev the motor and as the RPMs dwindle, it lets out a timing chain slap that is well documented on the net. Despite the fit, finish, and overall features and ride being great, the attention to detail issues resulting in recalls and the motor noise issues are bizarre, especially at this late stage of the 5.0 302 motor evolution. Update 7/5/2021: The clatter continues! It still sounds like a flamenco dancer with castanets and tap dance shoes on, clickety clack clack clack. And now that I have read other reviews, it can also be added to the 'uses oil' 5.0 302 hall of fame. I didn't think I needed to pay attention to my 3-year-old truck's oil level after a change. I mean, it gets 8.8 quarts of full synthetic, and I didn't dream in the 4-5 thousand miles between changes it would drop a quart. But shame on me, it has and does. I was amazed when reading all the other reviews on various sites about the clatter and timing chain slap, but I didn't realize oil consumption was also an issue. It sure is! Overall, the truck is solid and rides and drives nice. But the 5.0 engine noises and oil consumption are an absolute joke! I wonder how receptive Ford would be to replacing the whole engine for free with the non-clattering, non-timing slap, no oil using 5.0 version. From what I have read, not very. I am absolutely amazed Ford was able to screw up an engine platform that has been around for decades. Very innovative! Well, let's hope the class action lawsuit gets their attention and results for us owners who made the mistake of buying a 5.0 F150 with our hard-earned money!

This is a complete truck with a few exceptions. I was comparing it to a Toyota Tundra and found that upgrading the Tundra to the spec I wanted would have cost me more than getting the Raptor stock. When it comes to buying, make sure to get the 802A option and avoid the base option. The drivability is great and the gas mileage is better than my Honda Odyssey. You can further improve the gas mileage by using nitrogen in the tires. The performance of this stock off-the-lot truck is unmatched. The styling is also great. However, I would have given it 5 stars if the interior design and details were better. It feels a bit cheap for a $80K+ truck with a markup. If you're in California, it's cheaper to buy the truck out of state at MSRP and drive or ship it into CA to register it. This way, you can save $15-20K in dealer markups.

I'm someone who prefers simplicity and practicality, which is why I chose the XL sport. I didn't need a 10-speed, as I believe that's more suited for a bicycle than a light-duty truck. I'd rather let the engine hang a gear than shift all the time. The 6-speed was the perfect fit for me, and I have no regrets about choosing the 3.3L engine. I didn't want anything turbocharged or a thirsty V8. If you're looking for a truck that gets the job done without any unnecessary frills, the 3.3L is a great option. It's good for light trailers under 5000lb, but I wouldn't recommend towing anything heavier. I've been getting an average of 20mpg with my 4x4, which is close to the window label. My drive is about 50/50 city/highway, and I'm hoping to see better fuel economy in the summer. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my F150 purchase and would highly recommend this configuration to anyone. It's a great choice for those who value practicality and affordability.

I bought this car brand new in 2018 and have been extremely satisfied with it. Despite reading some negative reviews, I have put 40k miles on it and have not experienced a single issue. The engine runs smoothly and quietly, and I have not noticed any unusual sounds or interior noise. The V8 engine is powerful and sounds great, while still averaging 21 mpg. The only minor issue I have noticed is a slightly warped dash on the passenger side, but I have chosen not to replace it to avoid any potential rattling. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and hope to continue enjoying this car for years to come!

I have owned 8 F150s since 1988 and have been a fan until my most recent purchase in 2018. At first, it seemed great, but after only 7000 miles, I had to return it to Ford. Unfortunately, the doors were frozen shut all winter long, and the reverse sensors wouldn't work in the rain. To make matters worse, the transmission started making a clunking sound when it shifted. Thankfully, Ford agreed to buy it back, but the process was difficult. Despite this, I am happy to report that the buyback is finally complete after about 3 months. While I had some issues with customer service, I am grateful for the resolution.

My F-150 has been in the shop for an oil leak around the oil pan. I read that this is a common issue that is often not fixed properly. I noticed it at my first oil change at the dealer, but luckily the oil did not gush out and ruin the engine. There is also a recall for a seat belt that can catch fire and the driver side door would not close to drive the car. Supposedly, the dealer has already given the fix, but unfortunately, it did not work. I was disappointed that the dealer did not provide me with a loaner car. I understand that this has been frustrating, but I am hopeful that the issues will be resolved soon. Thank you for your understanding.

I really wanted to believe in American ingenuity, capability, and most importantly, quality. I recently bought a truck with 60k miles on it, but unfortunately, it's already in the shop needing new cam phasers. Additionally, the touchscreen is acting up and it feels like I'm using a Microsoft Windows phone from 2010. I used to drive a Yoda, but I thought it was time to switch to an American pickup. I'll update this review later, but I hope that Deereborn, MI can match Toyota's quality and erase the negative F.O.R.D. acronym we know so well. Instead of

I really like my F-150, but I have to admit that the competition is very stiff. I have had other trucks from Dodge and Chevy, but the Ford has great handling and the room inside the Crew Cab is crazy, especially for the back seat passengers. Although, I must say that the ride could be smoother. I bought it because I got a deal I couldn't pass up, but if I had shopped around, I might have found something better. Would I buy another one? Sure, if the deal is right, I'd be back on the Ford bandwagon!

Although my 2018 Ford f150 v8 xlt initially seemed beautiful, I encountered an issue with the check engine light after only 4 months of ownership. However, I took it to the dealership and they quickly identified the problem as a technical service bulletin and replaced the engine with an identical one. The truck ran great with the new engine, but I ultimately decided to trade it in due to my own concerns. While it was a hard lesson to learn, I am confident in my ability to make better decisions in the future.
