2004 Ford F-150 problems
The Ford F-Series is a series of light-duty trucks marketed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company since the 1948 model year. The F-Series is marketed as a range of full-sized pickup trucks positioned above the midsize Ranger but below the larger Super Duty in the Ford truck lineup. Alongside the F-150 (introduced in 1975), the F-Series also includes the Super Duty series (introduced in 1999), which includes the heavier-duty F-250 through F-450 pickups, F-450/F-550 chassis cabs, and F-600/F-650/F-750 Class 6–8 commercial trucks.
History
The F-Series was first introduced in 1948 as a replacement for a previous pickup model line based on car platforms.
The most popular version of the model line is the F-150 pickup truck, currently in its fourteenth generation (introduced for the 2021 model year). From 1953 to 1983, the entry-level F-Series pickup was the 1⁄2 ton F-100. Starting in 1984, the F-150 became the entry-level. The F-150 has a long-running high-performance off-road trim level introduced for 2010, the (SVT) Raptor currently consisting of three generations. Production of the F-150 SVT Raptor ended in 2014 and it was planned to be succeeded by a new F-150 Raptor, which is based on the thirteenth and fourteenth generation F-150.
The F-Series trucks have been developed into a wide range of design configurations. Alongside medium-duty trucks and "Big Job" conventional trucks (the forerunners of the Ford L-series), the model line has been marketed as a chassis-cab truck and a panel van (a predecessor of the Ford E-Series). The F-Series has served as the platform for various full-sized Ford SUVs, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Excursion. The F-Series has been marketed by its three North American brands: by Mercury as the M-Series (in Canada from 1948 to 1968), and by Lincoln in the 2000s, as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT (2010s for the latter in Mexico only).
Since 1977, the F-Series has remained the best-selling pickup truck line in the United States; it has been the best-selling vehicle overall since 1981. The F-Series has been the best-selling truck in Canada for over fifty years. As of the 2018 model year, the F-Series generated $41 billion (~$49 billion in 2023) in annual revenue for Ford. By January 2022, the F-Series models have sold over 40 million units. Currently, Ford manufactures the F-Series in four facilities in the United States.

The Lariat is more than just a truck. It's a versatile vehicle that can also serve as your luxury car. The engineering that went into making this truck responsive to drive is truly impressive. It's amazing how the words 'road feel' and 'truck' can be used in the same sentence! The 2004 F150 is very quiet, comfortable and gets the same mileage as the outgoing model. The drive by wire may make the truck feel slightly sluggish, but it's still a smooth ride. You'll be surprised at how fast you're going in this vehicle!

I bought this truck back in 2008 after searching through numerous car dealerships. It was love at first sight! Even after 2 years, I still adore my truck. The only issues I've had were a leak in the rear window and some water in the tail light, but nothing major. I mainly use it for my boat and sometimes forget that I'm even hauling anything. One time, I barely pressed the gas and almost ripped the back end off a Honda Civic that was stuck! Overall, it was a very good buy, even though it gets a little jealous when it sees the new Chevy 2500HD pass by. I only get around 13-15 mpg, which isn't very good, but I bought the Edge Evolution and now get around 16-17 mpg. I highly recommend this item as an add-on!

Awesome, absolutely perfect in every way. Don't change a thing. Leave it just the way it is.

This is one amazing truck! In fact, it's so good that you might forget you're even driving a truck! The ride is by far the best all-around. I've driven many trucks because it's my job, but nothing compares to what this machine can do for you. I get many onlookers and challengers every day, and just for that reason, I'm so happy I got my truck!

I recently traded in my beloved 1998 F-150 for this vehicle and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with the new design. The ride is smoother, more powerful, and feels much more solid. After test driving several full-size trucks, this one is by far the best. It has a refined and quiet ride while still maintaining the feel of a truck, and its turning radius is surprisingly small. The interior is spacious and incredibly comfortable, with leather seats that are more comfortable than most. The interior plastics are well-fitted and do not squeak, indicating that no cheap materials were used.

I am extremely disappointed with the build quality of my Ford truck. While I initially enjoyed its many features and found it to be very comfortable, the recent issue with the spark plugs blowing completely out of the engine has caused me to lose faith in the product. It is unacceptable that such a critical component could fail in this way, and the cost of repairs only adds insult to injury. Rather than taking responsibility for the issue and recalling the affected vehicles, Ford recommends replacing the defective aluminum head with another faulty part. This lack of accountability is concerning, and I hope to see improvements in the future.

I experienced several issues with my vehicle, including needing a Rear Diff replacement twice, 4x4 not working since 70000 miles, and a slipping transmission since around 35000 miles. Despite their efforts, the dealership has been unable to fix the 4x4 issue, which they suspect is electrical. Additionally, I recently received a P00012a error (cam shaft timing) and was informed that I need a new engine. These experiences have led me to question the durability of this vehicle and I would not consider purchasing another one in the future.

I really like the appearance of this truck and find it very comfortable to drive. However, I have had some issues with maintenance costs and unfortunately, it has made me hesitant to purchase a Ford again. The motor tends to make ticking or clacking sounds, and the cam phasers can be quite expensive to fix, costing around 1800 dollars once or twice. Additionally, the spark plugs can be costly to replace, but thankfully they last for 100000 miles. It's a shame that Ford doesn't offer more support for these issues until after the warranty has expired. This was my fourth and final Ford purchase.

I have been a loyal Ford customer for 20 years and have always appreciated the style, ergonomics, ride, and dependability of their vehicles. Unfortunately, my F-150 Lariat Super Cab, 2wd, 5.4-liter V8 has been a disappointment. From the beginning, it has had a bad vibration that has persisted despite numerous attempts to fix it. While it was still under warranty, I had to replace 5 sets of tires, three drive shafts, 2 rear pinion gears, and even had the transmission rebuilt. I also had to deal with issues with the radio/6 CD changers, speakers, and auto rear sliding window. Despite Ford engineers coming from out of state to try to find the problem, it still persists. I understand that every product can have issues, but this experience has left me feeling let down by Ford. I hope that they can find a solution to this problem and restore my faith in their products.

At 77,800 miles, while driving at 45mph, something in the engine of my 2004 XLT 5.4 Crew Cab broke. I had it towed to the dealership for inspection, and they determined that the crank had broken and would not turn. Despite being out of warranty, I contacted Ford for assistance, but they refused to help. The dealership quoted me $7,400 for labor and a new engine from Ford, which would cost around $5,000. I expressed my disappointment to the regional representative for Ford, who informed me that I was indeed out of warranty. Although I understand that I am out of warranty, I believe that after spending over $32,000 on this vehicle, I should have gotten more than 78,000 miles out of it. I requested to speak to her superior, but she informed me that she had no boss to answer to. Nevertheless, I remain confident in the quality of my FORD TOUGH vehicle.
