From 1953 to 1983, the entry-level F-Series pickup was the 1⁄2 ton F-100. Starting in 1984, the F-150 became the entry-level. The F-150 has a long-running high-performance off-road trim level introduced for 2010, the (SVT) Raptor currently consisting of three generations. Production of the F-150 SVT Raptor ended in 2014 and it was planned to be succeeded by a new F-150 Raptor, which is based on the thirteenth and fourteenth generation F-150.
The F-Series trucks have been developed into a wide range of design configurations. Alongside medium-duty trucks and "Big Job" conventional trucks (the forerunners of the Ford L-series), the model line has been marketed as a chassis-cab truck and a panel van (a predecessor of the Ford E-Series). The F-Series has served as the platform for various full-sized Ford SUVs, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Excursion. The F-Series has been marketed by its three North American brands: by Mercury as the M-Series (in Canada from 1948 to 1968), and by Lincoln in the 2000s, as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT (2010s for the latter in Mexico only).
Since 1977, the F-Series has remained the best-selling pickup truck line in the United States; it has been the best-selling vehicle overall since 1981. The F-Series has been the best-selling truck in Canada for over fifty years. As of the 2018 model year, the F-Series generated $41 billion (~$49 billion in 2023) in annual revenue for Ford. By January 2022, the F-Series models have sold over 40 million units. Currently, Ford manufactures the F-Series in four facilities in the United States.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my 2013 F-150 STX. I bought it brand new and opted for the 5.0 V-8 Flex fuel engine and 6-speed transmission. Let me tell you, this truck has some great features! It has excellent power and throttle response, and I was able to tow about 8,500 lbs from TX to KY and back without any issues. The interior is spacious, even with the super cab, and there's plenty of cargo space with the 6.5 ft bed. Plus, it's super low maintenance! Of course, there are a few downsides, like a vibration between 55-75 mph (even after new tires and rims), and the front door hinges allow the doors to open too wide or too narrow, which can be a bit of an issue when parking between vehicles or trying to open the back suicide door. Also, the center console of the 40 20 40 split bench seats is not the best, as it doesn't offer any cup holders or storage on the armrest. However, overall, I had a great experience with this truck, and the negative highlights weren't enough to ruin it for me. I think the STX package offers the perfect amount of luxury for a work vehicle or backup truck, without sacrificing its use for special weekend projects or long hauls. Thanks for reading!

This truck is fantastic! I have been driving it for a couple of months now and I am already getting better gas mileage than my previous 08 explorer. With the 20 inch wheels, chrome and trailer towing package, this truck is a real powerhouse. Despite the cold weather affecting the mpg, I am still getting an impressive 24 mpg on the highway (USA) and I am confident that I will reach the gov rated 27 mpg by the time I get to Texas. By losing the pounds of the eco charger and 4x4, I can get great city mileage even with my wife onboard! The only minor issue I have is when my dog gets out on my side, he turns the heat and fan to full because the knobs have such a good grip. However, this is a small price to pay for such a fantastic truck. Update 2016/5/5: When I bought the vehicle, it came with a tonneau cover and twenty inch wheels - I added back wheel liners which are not included. Wind and temperature can affect mileage, but even in cold weather with a headwind, I still get an impressive 23 to 25 mpg on the highway. In warm weather with a tailwind, I get 25 to 30 mpg. I even managed to get 25 mpg driving 2000 miles from Canada to RGV Texas at 70 mph in spring and fall. While speed from 55 to 75 mph will vary mpg by 1.5 gallons, I still manage to get 18 to 22 mpg in the city depending on the temperature. Update 2016/11/4: This truck still runs like it was new! I always get great mileage and for the trip to RGV, it always shows 510 mpg = 820 km after a full up. If it was not for flying stones hitting windshields or drivers turning in front of you when they shouldn't, I would never need to bring her in for a checkup.

I really like the truck overall. However, there seems to be an issue with the brakes. The dealer cut the rotors, but unfortunately, the pulsation returned.

I bought my truck new from a local dealer. Unfortunately, I had to get two new steering control units during the first 6 weeks of ownership. At 42k, I had to get the front engine cover gasket replaced due to an oil leak, and at 44k, I had to get the throttle body replaced. Currently, my odometer reads 61k, and my combined highway, city, and towing MPG since purchase is 14.9.

Overall, the truck is very nice. It's clear that Ford Engineering put a lot of effort into making the 2013 F150 a better truck. While some areas were improved, there were also some areas that were over-engineered and missed the mark.

Although I appreciate the truck, I believe that the eco boost has been misleading. The fuel economy with the eco boost is not up to the mark. The truck averages about 12.8 around town with some highway and only 16 on the highway. When hauling a small 5x9 covered trailer, the mileage dropped to 10mpg. In comparison, the V8 I had in the last F150 performed much better with miles per gallon and without the diesel lag on starts. Based on my experience, I believe that Ford can do better.

I recently traded in my 2013 F 150 Eco Boost for a Toyota. Unfortunately, I had some issues with my Ford, such as the front brake caliper needing replacement under warranty at around 25k miles. Since you cannot replace just one side, I had to pay for the other side. At around 45k miles, my battery completely died, leaving me stranded. Then, at 50k miles, the speed sensor failed, which almost caused an accident while driving into traffic. Shortly thereafter, the cam oil phasers failed, causing a loud rattling of the engine on cold starts. This was due to the timing chain. The phasers are a dealer item and the repair cost me $2700. Additionally, there was a suspension problem that required front end repair, and I had to replace the front brakes again. Three sets of brakes at 55k miles? It's safe to say that I was disappointed with my Ford experience.

At 80,000 miles, I purchased the truck second-hand. Unfortunately, at 97,000 miles, the cam phasers and timing chain required replacement, which cost $4,500. Regrettably, at 118,000 miles, the same issue has arisen again. Additionally, I had to replace the water pump and two of the O2 sensors. The rockers and cab corners are also in poor condition. Although there are other issues, I will not go into detail. It is important to note that the ecoboost motors should be avoided. Despite these challenges, I am confident that I will find a solution to these problems.

I strongly advise against purchasing a Ford Ecoboost vehicle. In my experience, they have been nothing but trouble. Unfortunately, my engine failed at 115,000 miles. As a long-time Ford enthusiast, I am disappointed to say that the eco-boost did not meet my expectations. While it performed well initially, it did not last as long as I had hoped. I cannot recommend this vehicle and suggest exploring other options.
