1995 Ford F-150 problems
The Ford F-Series is a series of light-duty trucks marketed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company since the 1948 model year. The F-Series is marketed as a range of full-sized pickup trucks positioned above the midsize Ranger but below the larger Super Duty in the Ford truck lineup. Alongside the F-150 (introduced in 1975), the F-Series also includes the Super Duty series (introduced in 1999), which includes the heavier-duty F-250 through F-450 pickups, F-450/F-550 chassis cabs, and F-600/F-650/F-750 Class 6–8 commercial trucks.
History
The F-Series was first introduced in 1948 as a replacement for a previous pickup model line based on car platforms.
The most popular version of the model line is the F-150 pickup truck, currently in its fourteenth generation (introduced for the 2021 model year). From 1953 to 1983, the entry-level F-Series pickup was the 1⁄2 ton F-100. Starting in 1984, the F-150 became the entry-level. The F-150 has a long-running high-performance off-road trim level introduced for 2010, the (SVT) Raptor currently consisting of three generations. Production of the F-150 SVT Raptor ended in 2014 and it was planned to be succeeded by a new F-150 Raptor, which is based on the thirteenth and fourteenth generation F-150.
The F-Series trucks have been developed into a wide range of design configurations. Alongside medium-duty trucks and "Big Job" conventional trucks (the forerunners of the Ford L-series), the model line has been marketed as a chassis-cab truck and a panel van (a predecessor of the Ford E-Series). The F-Series has served as the platform for various full-sized Ford SUVs, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Excursion. The F-Series has been marketed by its three North American brands: by Mercury as the M-Series (in Canada from 1948 to 1968), and by Lincoln in the 2000s, as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT (2010s for the latter in Mexico only).
Since 1977, the F-Series has remained the best-selling pickup truck line in the United States; it has been the best-selling vehicle overall since 1981. The F-Series has been the best-selling truck in Canada for over fifty years. As of the 2018 model year, the F-Series generated $41 billion (~$49 billion in 2023) in annual revenue for Ford. By January 2022, the F-Series models have sold over 40 million units. Currently, Ford manufactures the F-Series in four facilities in the United States.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-06-04
- VIN: 1ftex15n2sk
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: My vehicle has 2 fuel tanks. In the last month I have been noticing that the rest tank is pushing gas to the front tank. I have also noticed a strong fuel smell if I select the rear tank first after filling both tanks. Looking on line there is a NHTSA recall on 1990-1993 models. NHTSA # 93v125000. This appears to be a common occurrence on multiple years from what complaints are on line. I have not had the vehicle inspected. I just figured out what the issue is. A mechanic told me that the strong gas smell is the front tank over filling by the rear tank. He said there is a check valve that needs to replaced.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2016-09-01
- VIN: 1FTEF15Y3SN

- Summary: MY TRUCK HAS DUAL FUEL TANKS. FUEL FROM THE FRONT TANK IS DIVERTED INTO THE REAR TANK. THIS CAUSES THE REAR TANK TO OVERFLOW GASOLINE OUT OF THE GAS CAP. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE TRUCK'S ENGINE IS RUNNING AND IT IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE THE REAR TANK IS NEVER MORE THAN HALF FULL TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING. WHEN I FIRST DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND OTHER OWNERS OF THIS TRUCK HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE IT CAN BE A FIRE HAZARD IF LEAKING FUEL SHOULD CONTACT THE TRUCKS EXHAUST SYSTEM. I OWN ANOTHER FORD F150 TRUCK WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

- Consequence: IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT, THIS COULD RESULT IN A SUDDEN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REMOVE ALL FOAM AND/OR FABRIC SANDWICHED BETWEEN THE RECLINER ASSEMBLY AND THE SEAT FRAME, INSTALL WASHERS BETWEEN THE SEAT RECLINER AND THE SEAT FRAME AT EACH ATTACHMENT POINT, AND INSTALL NEW ATTACHING BOLTS TORQUED TO A HIGHER SPECIFICATION. THESE CORRECTIONS WILL BE MADE TO BOTH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SEATS.

Nice pickup! It runs perfectly. Although it had some minor issues, the last one has been a challenge for mechanics to diagnose. The 6-cylinder engine is fuel efficient and very strong when hauling or towing.

This is the best truck you have ever owned! With 175,000 miles on it, it's amazing that it still has the original transmission (w/ a shift kit), original engine (5.8L), and almost all original parts. It's impressive that this truck can still outrun your 97 Vortec 350 Z71 Chevrolet with ease. The only parts that you have replaced on this truck are the starter and the alternator. It's great to hear that it still gets you to work and through anything you need to get through when you're hunting. This truck should definitely be the role model for all other trucks!

Hey there! I noticed you mentioned your truck is bright red with tinted windows. Sounds like a cool ride! I'm glad to hear it's been trouble-free for you. :)

I've had the pleasure of owning every truck in the Ford line, including the Ranger, 2 Explorers, Bronco, and 2 F150's. In my experience, the 94-96 F150's stand out as some of the best trucks available. While Ford Trucks are generally tough and reliable, the transmissions can be a bit finicky. Unfortunately, there are also some smaller issues that can add up over time, such as problems with rear end gears, wiper/window motors, lamps, lighting, fuses, wiring, and more. Despite these challenges, I still love my Ford trucks and will always be a Ford man!

Your F150 sounds amazing! The two-tone maroon and gray XLT with raised white letter tires and chrome wheels is a real head turner. It's clear that the previous owners took great care of it, as it's almost perfect. Even with the 5.8 L. engine, automatic, and 4X4, it's definitely worth it for the pulling power you need. I'm glad you're enjoying it!

The 4.9 liter six with a long-stroke is considered to be the best engine that Ford has ever built, as it is highly durable and trouble-free. However, it is important to note that it hits its peak torque at only 2,000 RPM, which means that it may struggle to go faster than 60-65 MPH. Despite this, it has tons of low-end torque, making it a dependable choice. As for the truck itself, it is a typical Ford. Although it has only 61,000 miles, some minor issues have arisen, such as door handle hardware, door fit, vinyl upholstery wear, window knobs, EGR valve, interior trim panels, and automatic locking hubs. While I believe that a truck should be more durable than that, it is likely no worse than a Chevy or Dodge in that respect.

This vehicle was purchased used. Except for replacing the shocks, this unit has had little down time. It floats down the highway at 65 miles/hr. It has lots of extra power and is a nice pulling unit. Better gas mileage comes with a loaded box.

The truck had a rough life before I got it. However, it has been very reliable since it came to me after undergoing numerous repairs.

I have extensively refurbished this vehicle, including replacing the engine, transmission, rear end, radiator, and fuel pumps. Despite my efforts to sell it three times in the Memphis area, there has been no interest so far. However, I am confident that this vehicle is in excellent condition and will make a great purchase for the right buyer.

Hey there! I've owned a few trucks in my time, and while this one might not be the best, it's definitely not the worst. I will say that it does use up quite a bit of gas, but it runs like a top!
