Production of the F-150 SVT Raptor ended in 2014 and it was planned to be succeeded by a new F-150 Raptor, which is based on the thirteenth and fourteenth generation F-150.
The F-Series trucks have been developed into a wide range of design configurations. Alongside medium-duty trucks and "Big Job" conventional trucks (the forerunners of the Ford L-series), the model line has been marketed as a chassis-cab truck and a panel van (a predecessor of the Ford E-Series). The F-Series has served as the platform for various full-sized Ford SUVs, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Excursion. The F-Series has been marketed by its three North American brands: by Mercury as the M-Series (in Canada from 1948 to 1968), and by Lincoln in the 2000s, as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT (2010s for the latter in Mexico only).
Since 1977, the F-Series has remained the best-selling pickup truck line in the United States; it has been the best-selling vehicle overall since 1981. I've been a Toyota/Honda guy since 1987 because I've always been very happy with their quality and reliability. However, when I started looking at a full-sized pickup, I broadened my search to include Ford for 3 very large reasons. Firstly, they have come a LONG way in the area of quality. Secondly, their Ecoboost engines offer great fuel economy. Lastly, Ford did not take government bailout money. I originally wanted the SuperCrew, but it did not fit in my garage (about 4 inches too long). So, I went with the SuperCab. The major factor that won me over to the Ford over the Toyota Tundra is the gas mileage. Even at today's prices, I could not justify buying a Tundra that will not get better than 15-16 mpg (real world) on the highway. I've now driven my 2015 2WD Ford F150 XLT for about 1500 miles. It may be a bit too early to draw any concrete conclusion, but at this point, I do not think Toyota could have built a truck that is more solid or quiet than the Ford. I've been blown away by how quiet the 2.7L twin-turbo Ecoboost engine is, and the power is more than abundant. Ride quality is pretty much what you'd expect from a truck with an empty bed when going over things like railroad tracks and other bumps in the road. A bit jittery. However, when it comes to highway cruising, I've been very pleased with the smoothness of the ride. I'm also very impressed with the sound deadening that Ford employed in the cab. This thing is quieter than the Toyota Avalon that I traded for it. Overall, at this point, I could scarcely be happier with my choice. This is my first ever full-sized pickup. If things continue as they have, I think I can honestly say that I will be a Ford truck buyer for life. I'm VERY impressed with the strides they have taken to produce a product with the advanced level of quality that I've experienced in this F150. Update - 2/17/2016 - I now have about 14,000 miles on the truck and very little has changed from my earlier comments.The only downside I've noticed is that the EPA's fuel efficiency estimates of 19/26 are overly optimistic. In my experience, I usually get around 17-18mpg in the city and 20-21mpg on the highway. During my last 1100 mile trip to Phoenix, I averaged about 18mpg on the highway. I've spoken to the Ford dealer about this and they suggested that I need to be more mindful of my driving habits. However, I'm a cautious driver and always use cruise control on long trips. After reading other reviews, it seems that many people have had similar issues with gas mileage. Luckily, gas prices are currently low. On a positive note, I've been extremely impressed with the quality of the vehicle. I've driven almost 49,000 miles and have not had a single issue. I haven't had to take it in for any warranty work, which is a testament to its reliability. The only thing that still bothers me is the gas mileage, which is around 17-18mpg in the city and 23mpg on the highway. That's all for now.

This new truck is amazing! I recently traded in my '09 XLT, which I had purchased as a second vehicle four years ago to serve as a tow vehicle for a travel trailer. After rethinking my situation, I sold my two-year-old car and made the truck my primary vehicle. I wanted something a bit more upscale, but I was content with the XLT. However, I recently purchased a 2015 F150 Lariat 4x2 with every feature except adaptive cruise, dynamic park assist, and 4x4 - it's pretty much loaded! As a very critical shopper, I compared the competition and read the reports, but ultimately, my conclusion trumps reviews or opinions. I read the recall info on all makes and the safety tests. Consumers have to be careful as there is bias in everything it seems. I found that from the source, IIHS.org, all pickups over the past years and present do not have all the tests performed yet they claim 4-star overall, etc., except for Ford. It's important to check the source and not all the safe car websites that misrepresent the facts. In summary, I graded the pickups and ultimately chose the Ford. The Silverado was a nice truck, but it did not appeal to me design-wise. The large cut-out wheel wells were overdone and showed underpinnings, etc. The square front reminded me of a 70s vehicle. The RAM 1500 was a strong contender by reviews, but when I drove it, I was strongly influenced not to select the eco diesel by the dealer. The reason? When he found out that my towing requirements were 7000# with a tongue weight of 1000# plus scooter and camping equipment in the bed, the killer was the low max payload of 1400#. The Toyota was the last option, and it was nice but sparse in feature set related to functionality. While looking, it really brought the issue to the front - aside from any upscale features, the truck has to do its job without being overtaxed or at its max or have a high MPG penalty. That factor alone eliminated the RAM and Tundra, requiring their highest numerical ratios and biggest engines to meet the need.I recently visited the Ford dealer to find a truck that met my requirements. Although the statistics showed that the supercrew had the payload capacity and tow ability, each truck I looked at was different. Eventually, I found a Lariat with a 3.5 ecoboost that gave me some breathing room. Interestingly, the 2.7 with HD payload and max tow would have met my requirements, but the 3.5 gave me more options. I test drove the vehicle and found it to be light-footed and quiet, with tight steering that required less turning. The ride was very comparable to the others, and I was impressed with its ability to perform as a truck with high payload and tow ratings. Although the F-150 does have a rear end jitter over bumps, it is vastly improved compared to the ’09 model. In my opinion, the F-150 is the most capable truck with car-like features and the best mpg for the power to do what a truck is designed to do. However, I understand that each of us must shop and come to our own conclusion. If you only plan to haul mulch or have a jet ski or small trailer item, compare the F150 Lariat 2.7 eco and Dodge Laramie eco-diesel as both seem to make good moderate-ability choices, though the gas F150 does not require DEF and gets about the same mileage. Overall, I highly recommend the F-150 as it is a great choice for those looking for a capable truck with car-like features.

I traded my 2013 which had what I think were HID headlights. They were so bright that when they were on at night, the area lit up was stunning. However, this truck has halogen lights which are terrible, and I am being generous. For some unknown reason, Ford has decided to eliminate the HID and replace it with weak LED. My salesman told me this and he is trying to find out if there is a replacement kit. I am completely disappointed with these headlamps.

I absolutely love my 2015 F-150! The Ford engineers really outdid themselves with the redesign of this truck. From the high-tech aluminum body to the engine choices, it's clear that this is one impressive machine. The 5.0L engine is a huge improvement over the 5.4 in my previous truck and it sounds amazing too! The interior is top-notch and designed with both comfort and practicality in mind. It's clear that this is a workhorse disguised as a luxury vehicle. I've always been a loyal Ford truck owner and my last F-150 lasted me an impressive 14 years with no major issues. I just had to upgrade to the 2015 model and I have no doubt that it will last me just as long, if not longer. UPDATE: It's been 2 1/2 years since I bought it and I'm still absolutely in love with this truck. It has been completely flawless and I haven't had to take it back to the dealer since the day I brought it home!

. The 2015 King Ranch SCREW 4x4 Off Road has been a great truck for me, with only a few minor issues. Recently, at around 160,100 miles, I noticed the truck idling roughly at traffic lights or stop signs, especially after running down the highway at highway speeds. After researching online, I suspected that the VCT (Variable Cam Timing) solenoid(s) might be the culprit. Unfortunately, my truck never threw a code, and many repair shops were hesitant to attempt repairs without one. Eventually, the engine reached a point where the issue could be diagnosed without a code. I had all 4 VCT solenoids replaced, new spark plugs installed, and an oil change, and now the truck runs perfectly again. While the symptoms of the problem resembled ignition issues or bad gasoline, it turns out VCT solenoids are oil pressure sensitive. I have always changed my oil regularly at 5,000 mile intervals, but the symptoms in my engine became more noticeable as my engine neared the 5,000 mile interval. Except for factory maintenance and consumables like brakes, shocks, a battery, a K & N air filter, and an upper radiator hose, this is the first mechanical issue I've had with the Coyote engine. Given that it took over 160,000 miles and has run perfectly for the 500 miles after the solenoids were replaced, I still feel this is the best truck I've ever had. My mechanic reported that there was no sludge or varnish buildup under the valve covers, and the top end of the engine was clean. All of the remaining bells & whistles on the King Ranch still function perfectly. That F150 has been a hell of a truck. The 2015 King Ranch SCREW 4x4 is now at 186,000 miles, and it still runs perfectly and all functions perform perfectly. I did have an issue with the oil pan, but it was quickly resolved.I took my car in for an oil change and mentioned to my mechanic that we might have to chase the threads on the pan. Unfortunately, the pan was too thin-walled to chase the thread, so I had to get a new oil pan installed. But now, there are no more leaks or issues!

Here's a brief summary of the truck: it looks great and has a lot of technology, although some of it unfortunately doesn't work. The Lariat is almost fully loaded and has good road holding and steering for a truck. The acceleration and braking are average, but the acceleration is better in Sport mode. The road noise reduction is excellent, and the 3.5L Twin Turbo engine is quiet. The interior has lots of room for movement and storage, and the rear cab is very spacious. However, the logic of controls could be improved. The safety features are impressive, with incredibly bright LED headlights and a blind spot monitoring system that works very well. The truck itself doesn't have terrible blind spots, but the traction is sub-par in bad weather. The tech is about average, with quick-loading voice commands, but some minor issues with the entertainment center. Unfortunately, the reliability of this truck has been poor, with frequent repairs needed and an unreliable engine and transmission. Despite this, the dealership support has been decent. The technicians have mentioned that the transmission 'learns', but in my experience, it seems to be 'learning' the wrong way, which is causing it to get worse. Unfortunately, I have experienced instances where the electronics have shut off while the engine was running, including the power brakes and steering. Despite my concerns, Ford has assured me that there is nothing to worry about. Since purchasing the vehicle, it has spent a total of 53 days in repair for various defects, ranging from minor issues such as the radio cutting out and the AC on the seat getting hot and melting, to more serious problems such as the engine stalling or dying while driving or idling, and all electronics turning off while the truck is on. It has been a frustrating experience, and I have sought legal advice due to Ford's lack of responsibility towards consumers and compliance with state and federal laws. Overall, I would rate my experience with Ford a 1 out of 10, and I will not be purchasing a Ford again. (The 1 is only for the looks of the vehicle.)

My boss replaces my company truck with a new one every few years. As a die-hard Ford fan, he has always opted for the F150, and I have had the opportunity to use the last three generations of this truck (2003, 2010, and now the 2015). Although my job requires a truck, I do not need to haul heavy loads frequently. Occasionally, I move products weighing between 1000-1200 lbs, and sometimes up to 4000 lbs with a trailer. On my first trip with a load, I had only 1200 miles on the odometer. I was driving from KC to Ohio to pick up a car I had purchased, an old Monte Carlo weighing 3300lbs, which I towed using a dolly. The majority of the trip was on I70. However, I had my first scare when I was on a two-lane road going about 50-55 mph and came around a gentle right-hand corner with a group of trees blocking my view all the way through the corner. Partway through, I realized there was a raised RR track coming up, and I needed to slow down. Although I had a half-mile to slow down, I was taking it easy, getting used to the feel of the car and dolly behind me. When I applied the brake to start slowing down the truck while still coming around the corner slightly, the truck felt like the back tires came off the ground! It pushed over to the left as if I was on a patch of ice. My first thought was that I had made a big miscalculation and the car was too heavy for the truck. However, the tow capacity for my truck is supposed to be 7600 lbs as optioned. The whole trip home was a bit nerve-racking. I got used to the truck's response to the weight behind it and figured out that the biggest issue was turning. The rear suspension is so soft that any side load pushes the truck in a manner that would make you think you have two flat tires on the back. However, in a straight line, it feels much better, although still very soft.The F150's suspension is tuned to be soft, which makes it weak when you put a load on it. However, the ecoboost engine (2.7) is very strong and responsive if you call on it to provide that. The truck is safe to use for work as long as you don't exceed its weight capacity. The aluminum body can be noisy, especially on the highway, but it is a small price to pay for the truck's durability. The Ford gauge tends to overestimate the fuel economy, so it's important to calculate the mileage manually. Overall, the F150 is a reliable and powerful truck that can handle most workloads with ease.At around 10k miles on the truck, the bed started making a popping sound when driving over uneven surfaces such as pulling in or out of my drive. Despite the F150 being loaded with neat features and having a comfortable cab, I do not consider it to be a worthwhile truck due to the multiple popping sounds. Additionally, I have concerns about the electronics based on previous experience, as Ford electronics seem to have a short life expectancy. The cost of this truck compared to others was quite high, and the insurance cost went up about 25% because of the aluminum body. If it were my money, I would not choose to replace this truck with another Ford.

Where should I begin? The truck started out brand new, but unfortunately, the heat and AC didn't work. After waiting for three weeks for the part to come from China, it finally worked. However, I've noticed that the doors don't close properly, so I have to be careful not to slam them. Additionally, the seat doesn't adjust up or down, which is a bit of a problem for me since I'm 6ft 1 and my knees hit the steering wheel. The truck comes with two AC plug outlets, but unfortunately, they are useless for charging my drill batteries. They won't charge my 12v 3 amp battery and just blink yellow. It's frustrating to have two plugs that can't handle the job. Also, the truck takes 20-25 minutes to put out hot air in 20-degree temperatures, which is quite a long time. Lastly, the radio signal is weak, and the range is short. All in all, this truck is not suitable for anything other than delivering flowers. It seems like Ford went really cheap on this one.

I recently purchased a Lariat that was almost fully loaded with features such as the FX4 package, 4x4, LED headlights, Heavy Tow Package, deployable running boards, box side steps, tail gate step, and all the LED lights around the perimeter of the truck. These features have been incredibly helpful, especially when working at night. Coming from a BMW 530i Sport, I actually enjoy the stiffer suspension, although I do find that the rear end can jump over large bumps. However, when towing or loading the bed, the suspension works perfectly. The truck can pull like a train and you won't even know you have a load being towed. I purchased the truck because I am starting a new business and can't afford the time to go to a repair shop even if it's warrantied. Unfortunately, in the first 2000 miles, I experienced a few issues such as the driver side mirror shaking above 45 MPH, a bearing noise from the front end, vibrations, and a transmission that slams into 1st gear. I also noticed that the passenger side deployable running board makes a whining noise, while the driver side does not. I took the truck to the dealer and they replaced the driver hub bearing and 4x4 actuator, and re-programmed the transmission computer. Although the transmission shifts better, it still bumps intermittently. The dealer claimed that all other complaints were normal, even though one side did not have a shaky mirror and one side the deployable running board was smooth and quiet. Fuel mileage is poor, averaging 16.3MPG when driving like a gentle giant. Highway mileage is 25MPG cruising steady below 60MPH, but if you drive above 65MPH, you will average 16-18 MPG. I do not have confidence in the truck's reliability long term and I am also tired of lazy warranty techs saying everything is OK, when it is not OK. Currently, the truck has 32,000 miles and the transmission shifts are jerky and erratic at times.Too much slip from the torque converter, but don't worry, the dealer can reprogram the transmission as a temporary fix every service. The hub bearing makes a light whirring noise, which the dealer assures me is normal. Unfortunately, the door lock actuator on the passenger rear door intermittently fails, but the dealer has been very helpful in trying to fix it. Despite these minor issues, I still believe that this truck has a lot to offer. If you're looking for a reliable and stylish vehicle, this could be the one for you!

This has been an excellent vehicle overall, with a few minor issues. It's incredibly comfortable and easy to drive, and I particularly enjoy the XLT package and its options, such as heavy duty towing with towing mirrors, tailgate step, and navigation package. Unfortunately, I did experience a serious problem when the electric brake controller failed, resulting in a permanent hot link to my travel trailer brakes when the trailer was connected. However, the controller was replaced under warranty and has worked perfectly since the repair. While the voice activation of the navigation system and audio and phone functions can be a bit tedious, I find that entering the navigation information by hand on the screen is a simple solution. Additionally, the mileage is overstated by 1-2 miles per gallon on the trip/fuel indicators, but the vehicle has consistently performed better than my previous Nissan Frontier V6 pickup, and is much more comfortable and usable for hauling and towing. It's worth noting that there have been a few issues with the door locks in freezing weather, but I've been informed that there is a recall that will hopefully fix this issue. Lastly, I did experience a problem with the vehicle going into I am concerned about the reliability of this vehicle and the potential for getting stuck on the freeway or in the woods. Unfortunately, the vehicle went into limp mode again, but thankfully the dealer was able to diagnose and repair the issue. Although the repair was not covered by the warranty, I appreciate the dealer's efforts to fix the problem. I am disappointed with the number of safety recalls on this vehicle, including the recent brake recall. Despite these issues, I have driven limited miles due to the pandemic and hope to have a more positive experience in the future.
