From 1953 to 1983, the entry-level F-Series pickup was the 1⁄2 ton F-100. Starting in 1984, the F-150 became the entry-level. The F-150 has a long-running high-performance off-road trim level introduced for 2010, the (SVT) Raptor currently consisting of three generations. Production of the F-150 SVT Raptor ended in 2014 and it was planned to be succeeded by a new F-150 Raptor, which is based on the thirteenth and fourteenth generation F-150.
The F-Series trucks have been developed into a wide range of design configurations. Alongside medium-duty trucks and "Big Job" conventional trucks (the forerunners of the Ford L-series), the model line has been marketed as a chassis-cab truck and a panel van (a predecessor of the Ford E-Series). The F-Series has served as the platform for various full-sized Ford SUVs, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Excursion. The F-Series has been marketed by its three North American brands: by Mercury as the M-Series (in Canada from 1948 to 1968), and by Lincoln in the 2000s, as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT (2010s for the latter in Mexico only).
Since 1977, the F-Series has remained the best-selling pickup truck line in the United States; it has been the best-selling vehicle overall since 1981. This is my work truck. Although the regular cab has limited storage space, the center seat folds down to create a convenient armrest with cup holders. The 3.5 NA V6 engine may seem unimpressive at first, but once it hits over 3,000 rpm, it really takes off! It performs quite well, and I can only imagine how much better the turbo models are. While the truck has started to make some creaking noises (which I've also read about on other forums), it has been reliable overall. The mileage hasn't been great, with only around 16 mpg in the city and 23.5 mpg on the highway being my best. I did have a couple of issues with it shutting down, but the throttle body was replaced and it has been fine since. I've hit 26 mpg on a long trip, but usually end up in the 21 mpg range for shorter trips. I haven't had any reason to use the 4x4 system yet, but it's good to know it's there if I need it. The Leer cap has had some fit and finish issues, but that's not Ford's fault. Overall, my 2019 F150 4x4 Reg Cab Truck has been a good, no-frills work truck, although the mileage could be better.

The truck has the base 3.5L V-6 engine, which provides great acceleration, and an overall fuel economy of 20-21 mpg. Despite being the XL trim level with manual windows and locks, the vinyl seats are surprisingly comfortable. The power steering provides a good feel of the road and the brakes are awesome. I really appreciate the telescoping/tilt steering wheel, it's a great idea. Additionally, the blind spot side view mirrors are quite nice. While the rear seats are roomy enough, they are nowhere near as spacious as the crew cab. However, there is plenty of room for groceries and moderate size items. The gauge cluster is also very useful and easy to read.

It sounds like you're really enjoying your new truck! The torque is impressive and it's great to hear that you're still discovering all the tech options. It's also impressive that you're getting an average of 17-18 mpg with a 5 liter V8. The supercab seems like a comfortable fit for four people and it's great to hear that you've even fit five people for short trips without any issues. It was a smart choice to go for the supercab to ensure it fits in your garage with a 6.5' box. Overall, it sounds like you made a great decision in buying this truck and I'm happy to hear that you're satisfied with it so far!

This truck is great! I recently left my 2013 Audi A6 because I was tired of the endless issues with their German technology. I loved that car, but if one thing had an issue, the entire car seemed to have an issue. The new F-150 accelerates like a beast, has great comfort and convenience items, and feels safer driving in Southern California. While the gas mileage is a little misleading, I have to make a concerted effort to stay above 15mpg in the city, but I didn't buy this truck for fuel economy. My engine is the 3.5 ecoboost and I am pretty sure the 2.7 with auto off/on lives up to the mpg hype. My favorite thing so far is the ease of the touchscreen SYNC system. I am a big fan of it. However, I don't like the online features because it often requires calling an operator as opposed to just asking for and receiving results. Overall, if you want a new truck that has the comfort of a car, the mpg of a medium to light SUV, and the power of a truck, I highly suggest the new F-150. Just be aware that there may be some sticker shock.

Update (8/14/19). Hi there! I recently sold my F150 for reasons not due to the trucks. I owned it for about 14 months and put almost 16,000 miles on it. The best part? Not one problem! It drove like a brand new truck when I sold it, even at 4 years old and 45,000 miles on the odometer. I liked most everything about the truck except for two things. Firstly, it didn't have a conventional transmission dipstick to check/change the fluid. Ford (and my dealer) say it has lifetime fluid but I'm not so sure. Secondly, I'm not 100% sold on the aluminum body panels. They can get very noisy while driving in the rain. They say the aircraft quality aluminum is stronger than the steel but when you tap on the panels it feels & sounds like plastic. My neighbor's Silverado panels sound like metal. Kudos to Ford for being cutting edge but if I had a choice I'd choose steel over aluminum. Have you seen those youtube videos when a newer (2015+) F150 catches fire? They melt. Anyway, I loved my F150 and would buy another one in a second if needed. It was a 2015 XLT, 5.0, V8, 4x4, 301A Pkg, FX4, 5.5 bed. I purchased it used w/28k miles and now it has 40k. I am the 2nd owner. It was a certified pre-owned from our local dealer. My wife and I saw this Ruby Red beauty on the lot and fell for it instantly. It had everything we wanted except leather but better grade Katzkin leather can be installed later on. I replaced the half worn Goodyear tires with new Michelin's and so far we have driven it 12k miles without a problem. We've been on several long trips and it's very comfortable to drive. I love the V8 (not an ecoboost fan) and the gas mileage isn't too bad. The HVAC works great, stereo sounds good and the bluetooth works perfectly. Overall we are very pleased. I can only think of two things I don't like, first is the 5th to 4th downshift harshness everyone else talks about but it only happens every so often, not worth taking a chance the dealer would make things worse. Second is the price of these trucks. I settled for an XLT. The Lariats, King Ranches and Limited's are going for crazy money.I hope it lasts for at least 10 years, if not longer, to make the cost worthwhile.

The new 2015 F150 is quite different from the older models. Unfortunately, my experience with it has been less than ideal. Despite my efforts to adjust for payload size, road conditions, and other factors, the truck has proven to be unreliable and unsafe to drive. I have experienced frequent and unexpected shifting, which has caused dangerous situations in traffic. While Ford initially attributed this to the system tracking my driving habits, it was later discovered that there was a short in the transmission wiring harness. Although this was fixed, the problems have persisted. I have also had issues with the brakes, which occasionally grab and make noise, and the fuel saver auto start, which blew through the starter in under 6 months. Additionally, the sync and bluetooth systems have been problematic and require frequent restarting or reprogramming. Despite these issues, I remain hopeful that Ford will be able to address these concerns and improve the overall safety and reliability of their vehicles.

I have to say that my experience with the F150 has not been great. The milage ratings are overstated and the best it gets is 19.5 mpg. Additionally, the lightness of the aluminum body makes it more prone to instability in the wind and during towing, as well as easier to dent. Although I was a Ford person for most of my life and owned more than 10, I have since owned a Dodge and a Honda. After owning my current F150, I am reminded that poor quality and unreliability is why I switched and today's poor quality is why I won't own another. However, I do acknowledge that there are many good vehicles made today. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with my F150, such as the speedometer and cruise control quitting at less than 23,000 miles. This was not the case with my Dodge, which had almost 200K miles, or my Honda, which had 268K miles. I also found the cab to be uncomfortable and hard to maintain the cleanliness of, as the fabric stains easily. All in all, I was disappointed with my experience with Ford and decided to sell it due to the poor resale value. Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback.

I've only driven my 2015 F-150 for about 1,500 miles since it's not my daily driver. Despite some misgivings about the aluminum body, I decided to buy it since I'm a loyal Ford customer. The handling is unbelievably good, especially with the FX4 package, and the interior is very comfortable even on long trips. It looks great and has excellent acceleration with the V8. However, within 2 months of owning it, someone tried to break in, which was a bit of a setback. The driver window took 2 weeks to arrive, which was unacceptable, and the dealer complained a lot about the new aluminum body while I was getting an estimate. The instrument panel is a bit of a mess, with every button feeling misplaced and awkward. The transmission shifts a little oddly, and the radio and nav are below what I would expect for a Lariat level truck. The mileage is also worse than I expected. Despite these issues, I'm going to keep it for a while and see if it grows on me.

Hey there! I have an XLT Supercrew 2.7L Ecoboost FX4 and I'm really enjoying it so far. The ride is super smooth and quiet, and the acceleration from the 2.7L Ecoboost is really powerful. The interior is also really pleasing to the eye. The only downside is that the FX4 package makes for a stiffer ride when the bed is empty, but it's not a big deal. I was hoping for a regular 4X4, but they only had FX4s in the configuration I wanted. I'm still in the break-in phase, but I have to say that the fuel economy is a bit disappointing. I'm only averaging about 16.2 mpg on mixed driving, which is well short of the EPA rating. I read the Edmunds review on the fuel economy of the 2.7L and they found it to be worse than the V8. If I had known that, I would have gone for the V8 instead, since there's not much of a price difference between the two. I did notice some surface rust on the rear differential housing and a couple of other small areas when I first got it, so I'm a bit worried about how that will hold up in the long term. Overall though, I'm really happy with my purchase!
