2016 Chevrolet Camaro problems
The Chevrolet Camaro is a mid-size American automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, classified as a pony car. It first went on sale on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year and was designed to compete with the Ford Mustang. The Camaro shared its platform and major components with the Firebird, produced by General Motors' Pontiac division that was also introduced for 1967.
Four distinct generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. The nameplate was revived on a concept car that evolved into the fifth-generation Camaro; production started on March 16, 2009.
The Camaro was discontinued at the end of the 2024 model year. Production ended in December 2023. However, Chevrolet has stated, "This is not the end of Camaro's story."

- Vibration at Highway Speeds: Some owners have reported the vehicle shaking violently at highway speeds, with vibrations mainly felt beneath the front seats. This issue could be related to a flawed torque inverter, and despite multiple visits to dealerships, a permanent solution has not been found.

- VIN: 1G1FH1R77G0
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE
- Summary: Before purchasing a 2016 camaro last year I took it to a Chevrolet dealership for a safety inspection with no safety concerns found and after purchasing it around 57,000 miles went to another Chevrolet dealership to diagnose any electrical concerns occurring with the car that I noticed. There was nothing found but I still noticed humming sound and let them know and they found no concerns whatsoever. The battery was replaced twice as over the course of the year the electricals decreased in power. I then notified my insurance there was an issue with the car drawing power and it would not start. Upon checking the trunk noticed water had gotten into and possibly damaged the trunk/rear fuse block. I went through my insurance to fix any body damage but no electricals were fixed based on the insurance representative declining to accept liability for the damage and upon return of my vehicle, the repair facility started the car against my wishes and the rear fuse block in the trunk sparked and caused a fire to start in the trunk that continued for about a minute or two. Upon taking it to Chevrolet this year again after this, I was charged $800 for them to not diagnose anything but to say the x-connectors were burned up in the incident as well (I said this previously as this started the fire as it carries the currents from the fuse block) and to say they cannot find the source of the water leak/entry or replace the fuse block as the x-connectors and harness for the car, the first parts needed to be repaired to establish power to the car, have been discontinued. For more details on the cause, effects, and repair steps necessary but not been able to completed by GM/Chevrolet please refer to this service bulletin that I noticed was raised after I purchased this car upon researching the issue MULTIPLE chevrolet dealerships, ignored, didn't notice, and now are saying cannot repair and should be followed up on: 18-NA-375. Car is at ~70,000 miles currently.

This part could fly off with the top down. The glass could also come off causing me and others to be at risk. The dealer has confirmed the issue but wants me to pay out of pocket when my car is used but only a year old. This is not the first time I have heard people have this issue. New cars and older ones need to be recalled and they need to fix these mistakes with manufacturing. It’s unacceptable and putting lives in danger. 2: RPM will flutter / fluctuate so I’m assuming it is an electrical failure. I have no idea exactly what is wrong which puts everyone at danger. I could have a car fire one day. Or maybe the car will just die on a freeway going 65+. The dealer has inspected and acknowledged the issues. They have yet to fix the RPM issue as they couldn’t and didn’t know what was going on. I have been waiting for a part that “may or may not fix the issue” for about 5 months now. But the convertible top as well as this rpm issue needs to be a recall. It is putting countless lives in danger every day. It’s time for them to take ownership of the problems. Videos of RPM issues will not upload but I have multiple videos

Out of nowhere, the car started violently shaking, and before I could react, I almost collided with the vehicle in front of me. The sudden loss of power left me stranded amidst honking cars, making the situation even more perilous. After being towed to the nearest dealership, they attempted to fix the issue with two transmission flushes, but the problem only escalated. The car is now a ticking time bomb, completely inoperable, and I fear that other drivers may have been in similar danger. POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-12
- VIN: 1G1FB1RX6G0
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: On Friday August 12th 2022 at 9:30pm check engine light came on after car was sitting turned off for a few hours while my fiance was buffing/polishing/waxing the car. Checked the chevy app, it didn't list any problems. Took it to auto zone. They ran diagnostics. Came back codes P0711 and P0700. Made appointment at AAMCO Monday August 15th. Car was not smoothly down shifting and when put in drive or reverse would jump slightly. AAMCO basically said the transmission was bad. Which I can't understand how that could happen, it's a 2016 only has a little over 70,000 miles on it and is extremely well taken care of. I'm being told we have 2 options either the whole transmission needs to be taken out and rebuilt to find the problem, an estimated $3000-$6000. Or 2 the TCM can be replaced/reprogrammed for over $2500 which is not a guaranteed fix. They also told us a few other chevys with low miles also needed a transmission rebuild! So what is going on Chevrolet!? And we're still making payments on this car and it's already having expensive problems!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2008 C6. While it was a great car, I was looking for something more comfortable for my daily commute. I've been driving my current car for almost 3 years and 21k miles now, and overall I'm really happy with it. I did have a few issues along the way, like the diff going out at 10k miles and my brake rotors needing replacement at 19k miles. But the dealership was really helpful and replaced everything for me. My only concern is the A8 transmission, which can be a bit finicky at times. But despite these minor issues, I still love my car and would definitely buy it again. Thanks for listening!

This car is a driver's dream. The motor is both powerful and sonorous, making for an intoxicating driving experience. It offers the best performance for the money on the market right now. Unlike muscle cars of the past, the 2016 Camaro SS handles as well as it accelerates, which is high praise indeed. The interior is comfortable and well-appointed, with plenty of legroom. However, if you're tall, you may want to compare headroom in models with and without a sunroof. The power seats can be adjusted electronically, but taller drivers may need to lower the seat and tilt the seatback to the rear a little. The controls are easy to reach and use. Magnetic ride and the adjustable exhaust are must-haves. You can switch from a soft suspension and quiet exhaust (Touring mode) to a more aggressive exhaust and stiffer damping at the touch of a button. You can set the ride to match your mood or the conditions. While some have criticized the visibility out of the cockpit, it is certainly adequate. [One year update: 10,000 miles later, this car is still a blast to drive. Nothing has gone wrong or broken on it. Thumbs up!]

This car is truly confidence-inspiring, even when pushed to the limit. As someone who enjoys driving for fun, I can attest to the fact that the 2016 and above Camaro is in a league of its own. I compared it to a Mustang and there really is no comparison. Whether you opt for the V6 or the V8, you can't go wrong. The stereo is fantastic for a stock system and the handling is simply dreamy. It's worth noting that I have the V6, but unfortunately, Edmunds doesn't give me the option to select it. Overall, I highly recommend this car!
-
With its impressive 3.6L V6 engine, this car delivers outstanding performance. What's even more impressive is its gas mileage, which is hard to believe. During my first year of ownership, I drove it from Columbus, Ohio to Detroit, Michigan for the annual Woodward Dream Cruise and was amazed to average about 35mpg at speeds between 70 to 95 mph. Even after driving for 4 hours straight, I didn't feel sore from sitting or anything like that. The trunk is also spacious enough to fit a full size suitcase, medium sized one, car detail kit and a few smaller tote bags. It's truly a pleasure to drive and travel with this car!
-
It's wonderful to see a US-based company producing a sports coupe that offers fantastic performance at a relatively modest price point of around $40k. This car is an absolute joy to drive on a daily basis.

The car has some significant issues, including an unusable rear seat and repeated tearing of the cloth seats. The materials used in the car are of poor quality. However, I am confident that these issues can be addressed and resolved. I look forward to working with the appropriate parties to ensure that these concerns are addressed and that the car is brought up to the necessary standards.

Hey there! I just wanted to share my experience with my new 2016 Camaro with the I4 turbo engine. I think it's got great power for a 4 cyl, but I have noticed a constant clunking noise in the front end when driving over cracks in the road. I think GM could refine this a bit more, as it sounds like a cheap import. Interestingly, I test drove a Mustang and didn't notice any noise in their suspension. Just thought I'd share my thoughts with you!

Hi there! I wanted to share some important information with you about this car. It's important to be aware of some of the issues that may not be immediately obvious. Let's take a closer look together, shall we?
Osbaldo Sipes 2024-06-07
Before I begin, I want to clarify that I understand this is a first-year car. However, I do not believe that excuses the issues I have experienced. GM has a lot of experience building cars and components, so it is disappointing to have seats that fell apart after only 2,000 miles. My car was held up for two months in quality control to ensure it arrived with minimal issues, but unfortunately, that was not the case. While I did not expect a perfect car, I did expect better than what I have experienced. Both seats have failed in some way, and the A8 transmission has constant overheating issues, even during break-in. The audio and navigation system has also been problematic, even after receiving a reflash twice. Additionally, the dash layout is poorly designed, with the screen tilted so far downward that it causes the driver to crane their neck to see it. The exhaust system is also quite loud, and the run-flat tires are not ideal. There have also been issues with the hood alignment and rear end sounds. The seat materials and headliner are not up to par for a car at this price point, and the interior rattles have become more frequent. Despite these issues, I remain hopeful that GM will address them and improve the overall quality of their vehicles.Yes, it has 420 hp (sorry, I don't overestimate like car companies) and a new body style that mimics some of the lines of the new vette. However, the build quality of this car has been a concern for some. In the interest of full disclosure, I did consider purchasing the car, but at the last moment, I decided to lease it instead. Cars like the M3, M4, Mercedes AMGs, and Porsches are definitely worth owning, while American-produced cars like this one are better suited for leasing. It's great that production has moved back to the US, but I would have thought American workers would show their thanks by putting pride into their work and building a quality product. I encourage you to do your own research on the Gen 6 Camaro, but please keep in mind that some people have reported issues. While I have had some issues with my own Camaro, I have found that the customer service team has been helpful in addressing my concerns. Overall, I believe that this car has a lot of potential and I am hopeful that future models will address some of the current issues.

I purchased this car used with less than 3k miles on it and have since put less than 6k miles on it. Despite experiencing torque converter issues, differential issues, a loud noise coming from the heater fan, and occasional surging and clunking in shifting (auto), I am confident in my assessment that this car falls short of my expectations. While it is fast and looks good, it does not meet my standards for overall performance and reliability.
