2019 Chevrolet Camaro problems
The Chevrolet Camaro is a mid-size American automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, classified as a pony car. It first went on sale on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year and was designed to compete with the Ford Mustang. The Camaro shared its platform and major components with the Firebird, produced by General Motors' Pontiac division that was also introduced for 1967.
Four distinct generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. The nameplate was revived on a concept car that evolved into the fifth-generation Camaro; production started on March 16, 2009.
The Camaro was discontinued at the end of the 2024 model year. Production ended in December 2023. However, Chevrolet has stated, "This is not the end of Camaro's story."

Common 2019 Chevrolet Camaro problems
Based on the information from the sources provided, here are the common problems reported by owners of the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro:
- Stereo System Freezing: Some owners have experienced the stereo system freezing within the first 1,000 miles. This problem is usually caused by a software issue, with updates available to resolve it. Dealerships may update the software for free during other services.
- Chipping Paint: Chipping paint, especially along the front bumper, has been observed in some 2019 Camaro models around 30,000 miles. Repairing chipped paint requires repainting the entire panel, costing approximately $1,000 depending on local labor rates.

These problems, although reported by owners, are relatively minor compared to some other sports cars on the market, leading to lower repair costs as the Camaro ages. Regular maintenance and addressing these issues promptly can help maintain the longevity and performance of the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-16
- VIN: 1G1FJ1R62K0
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: The electronic power steering system failed during track driving. Driving aggressively for almost 30 minutes, the power steering assist failed to “assist”; the vehicle was able to be steered but only with great effort in turning the steering wheel causing a loss of control. The message “Service Power Steering” message appeared on the instrument cluster. Exiting the track and turning the vehicle off then on allowed the steering system to return to normal.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-05
- VIN: 1G1FG1R74K0
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: When driving all gages stop working all lighting inside and outside when driving. Happens sporadically. Took to Chevrolet and they said needed a battery so i changed and still happened. Took to performance shop and left for almost a month where a diagnosis was made that it was a corroded rear bumper wiring harness. I also found this problem on a forum with other cameros. He cleaned and it did not act up for a couple of weeks then on my way to work early one morning this week (dark outside) running approx 60 mph all of my lights went out again. My car still runs just no lights. Called Chevrolet to report safety issue with no resolution

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-14
- VIN: 1G1FB1RS7K0
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Bulletin No.: 19-NA-018 Shake and/or Shudder During Light Throttle Acceleration Between 40 and 128 KM/H (25 and 80 MPH) at a Steady State. Safety Issues: slipping clutch, worn-out gears, or low transmission fluid, problems with the torque converter or other transmission components. After several visits to the dealer, the problem was diagnosed by a service bulletin in 2023. The vehicle was inspected by a Chevrolet dealer. I received no warnings prior to the failure of the issue. This problem appeared at 30k miles but became severe at 43k miles.

- Date Of Incident: 2023-06-15
- VIN: 1G1FB1RXXK0
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: While cruising (not accelerating) or accelerating very slowly, the transmission goes into a shutter. I do believe this would be caused by the torque converter. Could be faulty. Seems to be a very common trend.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-06-16
- VIN: 1G1FB1RX2K0
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: 2019 Chevy Camaro transmission is shuddering. In other words it feels like my car is running over rubber strips on the road between 40 mph to 80mph. I know there is several TSBs that GM has put out on this issue with the A8. Went to Lynn Smith Chevrolet on 07/06/2023 and was told since my car is out of warranty it would cost me 625 dollars to have the transmission flushed and have the new synthetic transmission fluid in it. They said that’s the first step GM wants service depts to do. I’m sorry but if GM knows this is a problem then there should be a recall on it. I know there are already class action lawsuits on this problem. I can’t afford to have my transmission drained 2 or three 3 times. It is causing safety risk when you accelerate and lose power on the interstate or it is sluddering as you pick up speed at a red light.Thought the problem was my tires so had 2 new sets put on and realized it wasn’t the tires.
STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-10-01
- VIN: 1G1FB3DS9K0

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-05
- VIN: 1G1FB3DX9K0
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Transmission shudders going 25 to 80 MPH
POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-09
- VIN: 1G1FB3DS2K0
- Components: POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: While accelerating my Camaro begins to shake violently kind of like a shuttering. It happens on cruise control also. The violent shaking makes it hard to keep control of the vehicle. I looked online and found THOUSANDS of owners with the same problems. The weirdest thing is that my check engine light comes on for a few days then goes off for months. This absolutely needs to be recalled! I’m going in for my second opinion tomorrow but the last mechanic said I can replace the torque converter or that I might have a misfire in my engine. People need to be compensated for these expensive repairs, especially sense the car is so expensive. Gm had to know these parts were faulty. In no way shape or form, is there this many complaints about a vehicles parts and as a company they knew nothing about it. These mishaps are extremely dangerous and could be life threatening.
VISIBILITY,STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-02-18
- VIN: 1G1FB3DS0K0
- Components: VISIBILITY,STRUCTURE
- Summary: The rear window is separating from the roof. It seems to be a common problem with certain Camaros and other type GM convertibles. The original roof was replaced on this vehicle for same problem. The replaced rear window, roof is now separating from the roof again. (in less than 2 years since the original roof was replaced) GM/Chevrolet's only fix is to replace the entire roof. It appears to be a manufacturing defect with the glue/adhesive in the manufacturing process. Chevy will not honor or stand behind their product and want me to pay for the entire roof replacement. It is a known issue among Convertible Camaro owners. Chevy even issued a Technical service bulletin on this issue in November of 2019. Bulletin # 17-NA-216. It seems GM will only fix this issue if the vehicle within the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. I believe this is a safety issue because the rear window could shatter while driving or become loose and fly off and hit other vehicle while at highway speed.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-10-30
- VIN: 1G1FB3DS1K0
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: After driving approximately 4 hours at highway speeds of 65- 70 mph the steering became very difficult to move, then suddenly the car jolted in the intended direction creating an need to compensate back in other direction. Same issue encountered I had to force the steering in the direction to correct and stay in lane, again jolting in the opposite direction. This happened repeatedly until I could exit the highway. During city travel car responded normally. On return home after approximately 4 hours driving again, same situation no control of steering. Extremely dangerous situation, car is not road worthy. Brought to dealer, response after 3 days in shop - no codes so nothing to repair. Failure of Camaro steering due to rack and pinion, and control boards are found for many similar events during proceeding years of the car.

- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: While driving I retracted the convertible roof and it wouldn't close. The "top secure" indicator came on, how ever it was not secure. This caused excessive attention off the road and since it was raining caused water damage. I took the car to Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton, Fl. service representative was Ray Ph# 9417492674. I showed him the picture of another customer with the same issue that had his car covered under recall. There must be a part or design issue if both sides have broken with exact similarities at different times and they are the identical parts. Ray said to contact Cheverolet since the dealership cannot cover the repair. I contacted Chevrolet customer service at Ph# 8002221020 and that rep said, your car is not covered because it was manufactured at a different plant location. I asked what does it matter which manufacturing plant it was if it's identical parts? The rep had no answer. They were going to charge me $745 to fix the issue. I explained, this car has already been here for the exact same issue on the driver side and you replaced everything because it was under warranty now it happens on the passengers side and your not covering the cost. Attached is the invoice from Cox Chevrolet and the invoice with details of another customer.

The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and provided the same result. Love this car .. it looks great and drives awesome.. finally own my dream car and I am not disappointed one bit ♥️ and it’s actually really good on gas (4 cylinder with turbo)

I've had my 1SS for a little over a year now, and it's not my daily driver, so I've only put 6000 miles on it. I'm happy to report that I haven't had a single issue with it. The touch screen with Apple CarPlay can be a bit laggy at times, especially with Amazon Music, but that's just a minor nitpick. As for visibility, it's practically a non-issue for me now, and the rearview mirror is actually quite good. But what really stands out is the performance - this thing is truly a beast! I couldn't imagine spending the extra $$ for a ZL-1 when the SS alone has more power on the street than you can really use. I absolutely love this car. The A10 is seriously impressive in how fast and smooth it shifts. It's the best bang for your buck out there if you don't need much of a back seat.
-
Fast, sticks to the ground, and as scary as it looks.
-
Given the incredible performance and German car quality ride and handling, the 6th generation Camaro SS is the car deal of the century.
-
The Camaro has been a new and exciting experience for me. Despite the typical drawbacks of a sports car, such as limited trunk space, it has become my go-to car for sunny day driving and lots of fun. Even my 84-year-old mother enjoys it - I simply throw her walker in the back seat! Although I have to lower and raise the top to remove it from the car each time, it's still a lot of fun. My particular model is a V6 and has impressive output, especially on the highway. It's a shame that there is no V6 selection offered under the model type!

I recently purchased my dream car, a 2019 Chevy Camaro convertible, after waiting for 50 years. Unfortunately, I have experienced some issues with the car's quality. Despite this, I remain hopeful that these issues can be resolved. I am disappointed with my experience so far, but I am confident that Chevrolet will work with me to address these concerns. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The Camaro did not meet my expectations due to the lack of lumbar support and uncomfortable seats. However, I appreciate that it runs well. In comparison, I have found that Infiniti and Nissan offer better lumbar support, smoother rides, and superior handling. Based on my personal experience, I would not purchase another Camaro. It is important to note that my height is 5'7

I rented a convertible with the turbocharged 4. It drove and handled nicely and had all the power you could ask for. It was very quick and speedy, like driving a batmobile. However, the windshield was not very large and the back window was just a slit, which made visibility on the sides not very good. You have to be on guard when changing lanes. It was nice to look at, but the back seat can only be used if you have no legs.
