chevrolet logo

The Chevrolet Camaro is a mid-size American automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, classified as a pony car. It first went on sale on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year and was designed to compete with the Ford Mustang. The Camaro shared its platform and major components with the Firebird, produced by General Motors' Pontiac division that was also introduced for 1967.

Four distinct generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. The nameplate was revived on a concept car that evolved into the fifth-generation Camaro; production started on March 16, 2009.

The Camaro was discontinued at the end of the 2024 model year. Production ended in December 2023. However, Chevrolet has stated, "This is not the end of Camaro's story."

THE FIRST INCIDENT DATE OF MY CAR'S FAILURE TO START IS APPROXIMATE; THE PROBLEM GOES BACK SEVERAL YEARS. APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS AGO, I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY DEALERSHIP AFTER IT REFUSED TO START AT A NEARBY STOP. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED MY IGNITION KEYS AND FOUND THEM OKAY, BUT WENT NO FURTHER IN TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR FAILED TO START JUST TWO WEEKS AGO AFTER I CAME OUT OF A DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT, WHEREUPON I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOME. THE CAR THEN DECIDED TO START THREE DAYS LATER. THEN, I SAW OF THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH RECALL ON THE NEWS. I REFUSE TO TRY TO USE THE CAR UNTIL THE SITUATION CAN BE DIAGNOSED BY GM OR THE LAW. *TR

  • Summary: NUMEROUS THINGS HAVE GONE WRONG WITH MY 2001 MONTE CARLO. 5 OR 6 TIMES THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPAIRED THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG WHERE IT CONTINUALLY POPS OUT. I AM REALLY CONCERNED WHEN IT MIGHT EXPLODE W/O A CRASH OR IF THERE IS A DRIVER SIDE CRASH IF IT WILL COME OUT TO PROTECT ME. STEERING AND FRONT SUSPENSION POPS. AT 55,117 MILES WE HAD THE OIL CHANGED (WHICH HAS BEEN DONE EVERY 3000 MILES) OR LESS AND ON THE MULTI POINT INSPECTION SHEET, IT LISTED SEVERAL THINGS THAT "MIGHT NEED ATTENTION" SOON. THEY ARE STEERING LINKAGE AND STEERING COMPONENTS, CV AXLE BOOTS OR DRIVE SHAFT AND U JOINTS. THESE THINGS SHOULD NOT BE WORN OUT ON A CAR WITH NO MORE MILES THAN THIS. MY REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER DOESN'T WORK. NOTICED THIS AFTER ONE OF THE AIRBAG REPAIRS. THIS CAR HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF BUT STILL THE NOISES PERSIST AND NOW TO BE TOLD THAT THESE PARTS MIGHT NEED REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT? WE PAID A LOT OF GOOD MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE (THIS IS A LIMITED EDITION HIGH SPORT VEHICLE) AND FEEL GM SHOULD BUY IT BACK AND REIMBURSE EVERY DIME OF IT DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY OF IT OR PROPERLY REPAIRED OR PARTS REPLACED AT GM EXPENSE WHILE PROVIDING AN EQUAL VALUE VEHICLE WHILE REPAIR WORK IS DONE. *TR

I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THE OTHER CALIFORNIA DEALERSHIP CAR WAS TAKEN TOO JUST 7 MONTHS PRIOR FOR BRAKE INSPECTION AT 33,713 WOULD HAVE ADVISED OF IMPENDING ISSUE? IN REVIEWING THE BRAKE INSPECTION PAPERWORK DATED 7/24/05 I CLEARLY NOTICED THE TECHS LACK OF ATTENTION TO EVEN FILLING IN THE PROPER BOXES IE: BRAKE LININGS. THE $1100 SPENT TO FIX PROBLEM IS NOT AN ISSUE. ITS THE SAFETY ISSUE! LOVE THE CAR & HAVE HAD 3 (95,97 & 2001) BUT AM LEARY TO DRIVE IT WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE AN ENGINEERING PROBLEM WITH ROTOR/PADS AND GM IS IGNORING IT? FORD IGNORED THEIR PROBLEMS WITH TIRES FOR YEARS AND HOW MANY PEOPLE DIED? *NM

It sounds like you had a great time driving around with the t-tops off and even managed to get some good fuel mileage. Although, it's a shame that you had to keep replacing the passenger side turn bulb due to the bulbs melting. Also, it seems like hand washing was the way to go since the automatic car wash always resulted in water coming in.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my thoughts on my '01 Camaro. While it's definitely a head-turner and has some impressive speed, I have to admit that I'm not thrilled with the interior. Unfortunately, I find that many of the components, from the seats to the cupholders, are made of cheap, breakable plastic and are poorly designed. In fact, I've found that the interior of my '99 Chrysler Sebring Convertible was far superior to that of my Camaro. As a result, I'm considering downtrading to a 2000 Sebring Convertible, which I believe has a more acceptable interior design. Thanks for listening!

I have a SS package convertible that I absolutely love! It handles like a dream and I've hit speeds of 120+ on freeway on-ramps. The car's reliability is excellent and it stops on a dime. There's nothing quite like the feeling of a 100mph wind blowing past with the top down. It's also a great car for long trips, and even gets good gas mileage. Mine is the six-speed, which may be intimidating for some drivers, but it's definitely worth the patience of learning!

You're going to love driving this vehicle! It's not only fun, but also very affordable.

  3. Layne Treutel 2024-11-17

This car is amazing! I've owned other sports cars before, but this one definitely gives you the most value for your money. It's also really easy to work on - the plastic interior makes it simple to hide and install wires, and engine modifications are a breeze. With only $600 in mods, I've beaten everything from C5's to 2000 Cobras. Unfortunately, I did lose to the Viper, but I'll get there soon enough!

  4. Bertha Weissnat 2024-11-16

The Camaro and Firebird are truly the last affordable muscle cars! While some may prefer the Mustang, it's hard to deny the power and performance of the f-bodies. Chevy never even considered putting a four-banger in these cars, which is a testament to their commitment to performance. Mustangs are great, but they just can't match the raw power of the f-bodies straight from the factory!

  5. Ali Keeling 2024-11-13

This is one great affordable sportscar. I have the SS with the Tremec 6-speed, and I wouldn't trade the 6-speed for an automatic, no way! The engine and the stick work really nicely together. It's such a fun and fast car to drive, and hitting 80 mph is so easy you really have to watch out.
