Honda Cr-v problems

The Honda CR-V (also sold as the Honda Breeze in China since 2019) is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Japanese automaker Honda since 1995. Initial models of the CR-V were built using the same platform as the Civic.
Honda began producing the CR-V in Sayama, Japan, and Swindon, United Kingdom, for worldwide markets, adding North American manufacturing sites in East Liberty, Ohio, United States, in 2007; El Salto, Jalisco, Mexico, in late 2007 (ended in early 2017); Alliston, Ontario, Canada, in 2012; and Greensburg, Indiana, United States, in February 2017. The CR-V is also produced in Wuhan for the Chinese market by Dongfeng Honda, and also marketed as the Breeze in China for the version produced at Guangzhou by Guangqi Honda.
Honda states "CR-V" stands for "Comfortable Runabout Vehicle," while the term "Compact Recreational Vehicle" is used in a British car review article that was republished by Honda, associating the model name with the Sports Utility Vehicle abbreviation of SU-V.
As of 2022, the CR-V is positioned between the smaller ZR-V (marketed as HR-V in North America) – which the CR-V shares platform with – and the larger North American market Passport/Pilot or the Chinese market Avancier/UR-V. It is currently Honda's best-selling vehicle in the world, and the second best-selling SUV globally in 2020.

- Fuel Pump Issues (2018-2019 CR-V): CR-Vs manufactured from the start of production up until 5 March 2019 may have an issue with the fuel pump module, which requires a new module to be fitted to resolve the issue.
- Airbag Absorption of Moisture: The absorption of moisture into the driver’s airbag propellant could lead to slow deployment or inflator rupture.
These issues are not exhaustive, and the frequency and severity of these problems may vary depending on the specific model year and individual vehicle. It is essential to thoroughly inspect any used vehicle before purchasing and be aware of these potential issues.

Honda Cr-v 2023

- Summary: (1) Recall Summary American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling specific 2023-2025 CR-V vehicles due to a defect in the steering gearbox worm wheel. This improperly produced component may swell during use, which compromises the grease film thickness between the worm wheel and worm gear. Furthermore, the worm gear's spring preload was set too high, escalating the sliding force between these parts. Consequently, the combination of reduced grease film and increased friction leads to greater resistance during steering. Safety Risk The heightened friction between the worm gear and worm wheel results in increased steering effort and difficulty, significantly elevating the risk of a crash or injury. (2) Recall Summary American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is urgently recalling certain 2023-2025 multi-model year Honda vehicles due to critical defects in the high-pressure fuel pump. The improper production has led to the formation of cracks at the solenoid core component, which can result in a dangerous fuel leak during operation, especially in lower mileage vehicles. Safety Risk The presence of a fuel leak poses an extreme risk, as it can ignite in the presence of an ignition source. This scenario significantly heightens the risk of fire, crash, or serious injury, demanding immediate attention and action. I contacted the American Findlay Honda Management Department in Henderson, Nevada, only to be hit with a stark refusal; they will not place me in a new 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring. As a long-time customer, I felt utterly bewildered and crushed by this response. Just weeks ago, they aggressively pushed this specific vehicle to me, fully aware that significant recalls were on the horizon. This is not just terrible news—it’s a blatant betrayal by management! I am seriously contemplating legal action against American Honda and Findlay Honda in Henderson, Nevada. Their actions scream deceit and predation; they are nothing less than crooks and sharks

- Date Complaint: 2024-10-26
- VIN: 7FARW1H82LE
- Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: 1) “Collision Mitigation Braking System” (CMBS); CMBS still exists on this car. 2) Potential for getting rear-ended. 3) My brother with similar CR-V reports random CMBS braking. 4) No 5) CMBS first brake warning only after I started letting up off the brake pedal. CMBS produced 2nd brake warning just as it slammed on the brakes - AFTER distance between my car and car in front was already increasing (ie - no chance for collision). First appearance: I've been getting false CMBS brake alarms since purchase of car - this was the first time CMBS slammed on the brakes. I've heard other stories about CMBS type systems causing wrecks, etc... - I believe CMBS type systems need to be removed from all cars.

Now the problem had been getting worse and it had been affecting the driving and safety when making turns.

Vehicle year: 2018
I've had a great experience with this car! I haven't encountered any of the fuel in oil problems that some CRVs from 2017 and 2018 EX models have had. While I'm not sure how common the issue is, I decided to base my review on my own experiences rather than what I've read about others. The ride is comfortable and the turbo has plenty of power for me. I particularly appreciate the blind spot warning, brake warning, automatic rear view mirror (which I've never had before), and other features. Although it took me a while to figure out the entertainment system, it works fine and has quality sound. I did have a problem with the entertainment screen freezing, but I was able to fix it by setting the screen sensitivity to the minimum and cleaning the screen once a week. Since then, I've had no problems with the car, even after driving it for over 44,000 miles! I highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a reliable and enjoyable ride.

Vehicle year: 2021
This is my second CR-V and I still have my 07 which is still going strong with 175k miles. I absolutely love everything about the 2021 model. It drives like a bigger car in a good way, feeling substantial and safe. The interior is simply lovely, with a luxury feel without the luxury price tag. Regarding all the reviews that complain about the confusing infotainment system, I found it easy to figure out without even needing the manual. I am absolutely in love with my Sonic Gray Pearl CR-V!

Vehicle year: 1998
Your 1998 Honda CR-V is amazing! It has an original engine and transmission, and has clocked an impressive 374,000 miles. It has never failed to start or stalled, which is a testament to its reliability. Although it has some rust, it still runs like a charm. Even after 22 years, it still starts right up. It's sad to hear that it's not driven anymore, but it's great to know that the original engine never stopped running beautifully. You will never have a better running car. Rest in peace, dear CR-V!

Vehicle year: 2020
Hey there! I wanted to share my experience with my Honda CR-V. I bought it back in 2006 and it was my trusty companion until September. I sold it with only 138,000 miles for $5600. It was a bit sad to say goodbye, but then I saw a brand new 2020 CR-V for sale in blue! I test drove it and before I knew it, I was driving it home. I paid $29,000 for it and now, after 3 months, I've put 2,334 miles on it. I haven't had a single issue with it and the fuel economy is great. I absolutely love all the technology and features it has. I can already picture a bright future with this car!

Vehicle year: 2009
Hello! I have owned over 30 different vehicles and have been in the auto repair business for more than 20 years. So, I believe that I can provide an unbiased opinion. My wife and I needed a more versatile vehicle with two small children, and we wanted something more financially economical than a luxury sedan with higher miles. I was looking for a vehicle that just works, has no quirks, and only needs gas, tires, brakes, and fluids for 200,000 miles. This CR-V definitely delivers! Here are some of the good things: it's small and nimble, has lots of cargo room, is pretty good on fuel, and requires virtually no maintenance besides the basics. It also has good visibility and is easy to drive. However, there are some not-so-good things: there is noticeable road noise, the engine is a bit buzzy, the leather seat material feels like rubber, and the short wheelbase means a rougher ride than expected. I had to add a back-up camera and a remote start, which I wish had come standard, as they are pretty useful when parking in the city and driving in the winter. In a nutshell, if you are looking for something comfortable and luxurious, this may not meet your demands. However, if you want something economical and versatile, a CR-V is just the ticket!

Hey there! I noticed something interesting about the paint on the lift gate of my car. There seem to be some bubbles and runs, and unfortunately, it's starting to chip off. I've seen the same issue on other cars on the lot, but it hasn't happened to them yet. I had a bit of trouble with customer service, and I didn't feel like they cared about my concerns. I even mentioned that I've owned several Honda's in the past, but they didn't seem too worried about losing me as a customer. What do you think about this situation?

Vehicle year: 2015
We have owned multiple Honda CRVs in the past, but unfortunately, our experience with the 2015 model was not up to our expectations. We encountered an issue with vibration or shuddering at lower rpm's, which the dealer did not inform us about. We later discovered that Honda has a video addressing this problem, which we were not aware of at the time of purchase. We were disappointed that such a reputable manufacturer would allow such vehicles to be sold to the public without proper disclosure. We have since replaced our Honda CRV with a 2017 Subaru Outback, which we find to be far superior. While we were disappointed with our experience, we understand that every vehicle has its own unique issues. We encourage potential buyers to do their research and make an informed decision. Thank you for taking the time to read our experience.

Vehicle year: 2017
My 2017 CR-V Touring has started to rust after only half a winter. I've noticed that the chrome trim on the tailgate, exhaust trim, and along the bottom of the doors ($1400 in parts) is noticeably corroding after just 6 weeks of winter. When I contacted Schomp Honda (CO) and Honda America, they both explained that the observed corrosion is caused by magnesium chloride applied to the roads and is not the result of defective material performance because it's due to 'outside and unforeseeable influences.' While I understand that all parts of the vehicle are subject to 'outside influences' the moment you drive it off the lot, I'm concerned that these parts are failing within a few months. The dealer and Honda have admitted that they've seen this corrosion on many other Honda vehicles. Given that Honda has known that mag-chloride has been used since the mid-1990s, shouldn't they have designed parts that wouldn't corrode halfway through the first winter? In fact, some chrome parts (front grille) are not corroding yet and appear to be designed or treated differently. As someone who has owned Honda cars for about 35 years, I'm extremely dissatisfied with Schomp dealer and Honda and will never buy a Honda again.

I purchased a car from Honda of Fishers (Indiana) with high expectations, but unfortunately, the car had a major vibration issue. Despite my attempts to resolve the issue, I received no help or support from the dealership or Honda. This experience has been frustrating and disappointing, but I remain confident in my ability to find a solution. I urge anyone considering purchasing a car to thoroughly test it on city streets and highways before making a decision. As for me, I have moved on from this experience and will not be purchasing from Honda again.I was intentionally misled during the sales process. I am extremely disappointed and upset. It is likely that other parts of the car will also experience issues due to this problem. I have lost trust in this dealership and will not return until Honda resolves this issue. I will also share my experience with others to ensure they do not have to go through the same thing.

On the second day after purchasing the vehicle, I noticed that the radio screen was not functioning and had turned completely black. Additionally, the wireless charging pad was not working properly, with the charge intermittently turning on and off.
