The Honda CR-V (also sold as the Honda Breeze in China since 2019) is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Japanese automaker Honda since 1995. Initial models of the CR-V were built using the same platform as the Civic.

Honda began producing the CR-V in Sayama, Japan, and Swindon, United Kingdom, for worldwide markets, adding North American manufacturing sites in East Liberty, Ohio, United States, in 2007; El Salto, Jalisco, Mexico, in late 2007 (ended in early 2017); Alliston, Ontario, Canada, in 2012; and Greensburg, Indiana, United States, in February 2017. The CR-V is also produced in Wuhan for the Chinese market by Dongfeng Honda, and also marketed as the Breeze in China for the version produced at Guangzhou by Guangqi Honda.

Honda states "CR-V" stands for "Comfortable Runabout Vehicle," while the term "Compact Recreational Vehicle" is used in a British car review article that was republished by Honda, associating the model name with the Sports Utility Vehicle abbreviation of SU-V.

As of 2022, the CR-V is positioned between the smaller ZR-V (marketed as HR-V in North America) – which the CR-V shares platform with – and the larger North American market Passport/Pilot or the Chinese market Avancier/UR-V. It is currently Honda's best-selling vehicle in the world, and the second best-selling SUV globally in 2020.

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-02-02

  • Components: STEERING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
  • Summary: My steering jerks hard left and corrects it self it also excels been braking, cranking the wheel turns freely and the car is very unsafe to drive i can lose control of the vehicle. All emergency lights are on steering wheel light exclamation point tps light among other things.i was told the EPS systems isn't working the steering control module, steering rack and all sensors replaced honda dealership also let me know this has been a common problem with crv years 16,17,18 I have no recalls on my car presently. I also want to add my father has the same 2016 honda crv and his is failing as well. This repair is mandatory and is very expensive over 6 thousand dollars and honda is denying to call a recall for this issue. This is a major safety issue and should be brought to attention. I am very sure that are many. Many customers out there that have experienced the same thing, and that should be reimbursed for them. Selves having to pay thousands of dollars to repair their car. Unfortunately, my car is worth $9000. As it stands. That is over half the cost of the car.

POWER TRAIN,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-10-13
  • VIN: 5J6RM4H43GL
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: While I was driving about 70 mph on highway, the car suddenly stopped responding to the gas paddle and I heard a noise from near the fuel tank. I was able to pull up to the side of the road and the check engine light was showing. I towed it to an Auto Repair shop in Modesto, CA and they found that the fuel pump has failed. So they replaced with an OEM part and upon examining, they found that the old fuel pump was in fact not working properly. I see that Honda has a recall for 2013-2016 CR-V relating to fuel pumps (2013-16 CR-V Fuel Pump Module Set/Assy Exp2 Stop Sale). But when I put VIN to their website, it shows that my car is not part of the recall. So I am requesting a further investigation on this recall.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-01-01
  • VIN: 2HKRM3H75GH
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: I have a 2016 Honda CRV. Approx 2 years ago several electrical problems started. 1. )Radio started turning on and off on its own. 2. ) Car locks would lock and unlock on their own. I will be sitting in car and the car would lock and unlock on its own approx 4-5 times and then stop. It would also happen when I would get out of the car and lock the door and as soon as I walked away I could hear it unlock again and it did not matter if I locked it on the door panel or use the key FOB. I thought at first maybe I am doing something wrong, but it has also happened to my husband multiple times. This could be a safety issue, not knowing if its locked or unlocked my child could open the door while I am driving. Also someone could get into my car. 3.) My car battery started losing juice frequently. I would have to jump it, and now this is happening approx every 6 weeks. 4.) The Key FOB also juices out frequently and I have had to replace it multiple times and batteries are not cheap. I have been stranded 4 times at night and I beleive it was a risk to my personal safety. I have taken it to a independent service for the locks but they could not duplicate and told me it would be expensive to check the electrical system to first see if there were any electrical recalls first. I have read all the complaints on your site and there are over 60 electrical complaints. Many in regards to the Car's Battery discharging. One person talked about the seat position would move on its own, another said their headlights would turn off and on. Although there are many different electrical complaints they are all electrical related and warrant an investigation. As a consumer it is very fustrating as the price for buying and fixing a car is expensive. I don't know what it takes to have a recall but I hope NHTSA does the right thing especially when people are losing faith in big companies/agencies. Thank you

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-05-26
  • VIN: 2HKRM4H75GH
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: The drivers side door unlocks on its own after I have locked the door and start walking away from the vehicle. It is not suppose to open until after I have grasped the handle to open it when it has been locked. I can hear it unlock when I am outside the vehicle and somewhere in the vicinity of 10 feet away from the vehicle. I can have it available for inspection at any time. This problem causes the battery to drain and the vehicle won't start. The dead battery has happened to me twice (once in an airport parking lot and once at home). I have researched this on the internet and it is a common problem for the vehicle (both the unlocking and subsequent draining of the battery). The safety issue is, if this were to happen in a situation where conditions were such that I couldn't get my car started and I needed to escape an assailant that's trying to do harm to me or other passengers (children) in my vehicle. Another scenario could be needing to be able to drive away from any dangerous situation (stuck in a desert in extreme heat, a forest fire, etc...). The list could be endless. You need to be able to start your car when necessary. It hasn't been inspected by a dealer but I have contacted them twice about this issue. I haven't had it inspected by anyone. Many people have had this same problem and the repair at dealer is roughly $700 dollars. I think they have to replace the door lock actuator. There were no warnings, messages or other symptoms before it first happened. The problem first happened in April/May of 2024.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-08-06
  • VIN: 5J6RM4H43GL
  • Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: I was driving up a hill and the car started chugging and didn't want to finish going up the hill. Several indicator lights went on: Malfunction (check engine), Tire Pressure monitoring system, Electric Power Steering, Vehicle Stability Assist, and the All Wheel Drive. A slight burning smell started coming from the engine. I took it for auto repair and found that I need a new high pressure fuel pump and fuel injector. After searching on the Internet, I see that this is an issue in Honda vehicles and there are many recalls for it but not my vehicle. I also called the Honda dealership to check with them but my VIN number is not covered. Considering I have under 80,000 miles on my vehicle, I don't think this should be having this issue. Plus, it looks like there are several people across the US with the same model as me having the same issue. Considering how quickly it happened, that it is a safety issue, how expensive it is to repair, and that many people are having the same issue in chat forums across the Internet, I think it should be on the recall list.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-08-01
  • VIN: 5J6RM3H99GL
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: Smelled gasoline while driving but not sure of source. 10 min into drive fumes were very strong and then all light came on and engine shut down. A fire safety vehicle noticed fuel pouring out from under the vehicle. Because of the fuel spill the police came and called a tow truck. The car was towed to Firestone where they determined that the fuel line on top of gas tank was spilling fuel. I noticed the 2017 CRV Honda have a recall on this fuel supply and my car was a late 2016 model. They will not honor my vin number.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-05-01
  • VIN: 5J6RM4H42GL
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: Part 74800-TF0-J02, Honda Door Lock Actuator. It appears there have been issues for years with the door lock actuator parts. This has been reported online at Honda blog sites, complaints, reviews, etc. that I've seen. Why doesn't this get resolution. It's a difficult part to replace, and harder to find someone to do it. It's a safety factor, for the door cannot be opened. I was rear-ended by a car in the past, and mine was totaled. The only escape was the back hatch. In this case, I would have been unable to get out, and could succomb to explosion and death. In the least, it is extremely frustrating to be unable to load a cart of groceries, etc into the back. We leave a backseat down now, since it has failed after three repairs. We have to sling groceries into the back, and crawl in to retrieve them. We are looking for the part and service once again. Many have said this occurs in cold weather. We have found that weather is just a coincidence, and it occurs any season. I wonder if it can't handle the wattage from the Honda wiring panel or if it's just a defective part with a short lifespan.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-01-04
  • VIN: 2HKRM4H41GH
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: I have a 2016 Honda CR-V. When temperatures are very cold, near and below freezing, the tailgate will not open until temperatures warm up or handwarmers are used for about 5 minutes or the use of heat from the hands eventually allows the tailgate to open. This is reported in Honda Bulletin 16-063. However, even after replacement of the tailgate opener switch by the dealer, the problem has reoccurred. No manual release exists. This can be safety issue when transporting children that require larger equipment, like strollers, or the elderly which requires wheelchairs. I went camping with the boys, and temperatures had fallen along with rain when we arrived at our campsite. It took a good 5-10 minutes using handwarmers for the tailgate to open and thus allowing the camping equipment and tents to be removed to be setup for the weekend. I believe this is a safety issue, because, what if an emergency had occurred and we had to pack and leave quickly. What if I was transporting a child or elderly person that required wheelchair that was needed right away. This issue with opening the tailgate does not occur when temperatures are warmer, or in very cold, thus I believe this to be a major design flaw that results in a safety issue.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-12-01
  • VIN: 2HKRM3H55GH
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: Beginning on the first of December 2023, the battery has drained every 24 to 48 hours. I have used up the annual roadside assistance I am allowed in the policy year October 2023 through October 2024. The roadside assistance technicians kept telling me I was not driving it enough or I was leaving something on. The tow truck driver I called for a jump this Thursday, in order to drive to the repair facility, suggested the mechanic needed to check every circuit in order to determine what function was draining the battery. The first and potentially not the last drain is the front passenger side door handle. No door handles are currently available from Honda. I have seen complaints, at [XXX] , regarding "parasitic" battery drain on this model year. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver side frontal air bag module, free of charge. The recall began in November 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda'a number for this recall is JV9.

This vehicle is a great option for city living, but may not be the best choice for those living in rural areas such as Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, etc. The AWD system may not perform as well as expected, especially on hills or icy driveways. Unfortunately, there are no indicators to notify the driver when the vehicle is in AWD mode, which can be concerning. Additionally, if you're taller than 5'10

After purchasing this car a week ago, we noticed a vibration when the car is in gear at idle, despite not feeling anything during the test drive. Upon researching, we found similar complaints for the 2015 model, but not for 2016. We have already brought this issue to the attention of the dealer twice, and even had the manager document the problem with us. However, we were informed that this is a characteristic of the CR-V and that there is currently no fix available. Despite not finding any complaints about this issue for the 2016 model, we believe it may be less severe than the 2015 model, but it is still noticeable. We recommend test driving the car for at least 20 minutes on both local and highway roads before making a purchase. It is important to note that turning the heater to maximum can temporarily alleviate the vibration, but it is still present. We hope that Honda will address this issue in the future.

I recently purchased a 2016 CR-V EX-L AWD after reading good reviews and seeing so many CR-Vs on the road. While I was initially excited about my new vehicle, I have been somewhat disappointed by the amount of noise in the cabin while driving. Unfortunately, the noise has taken away some of the joy of driving my new car. I took it back to the dealership and their service technician suggested that the noise was likely due to the tires. In fact, when the service shop swapped the tires and mounted wheels with the tires from a Touring model, the cabin noise was markedly reduced. Despite reporting the issue to Honda, I have not received any helpful feedback. While I will have to live with the noisy ride for the next few years until I need to change tires, I would recommend considering a Touring model if you prioritize a quieter ride.

If you're looking for a reliable car to drive around town at speeds under 45 or 50 miles per hour, then this is a great option. However, it's important to note that this vehicle may not be the best choice for curvy roads or highways, as it can be quite dangerous at higher speeds. The brakes may not be as responsive as you'd like, and the body roll can be excessive. Additionally, the front seats are not very comfortable, and there is limited cargo space up front. It's also worth noting that the low beam headlights do not provide much side illumination, which can be a safety concern when turning corners in the dark. Overall, this is a friendly reminder to keep your speed under 50 miles per hour and to exercise caution when driving this vehicle.

I leased my 2016 CRV in August of 2016. By November 2016, my husband and I began to smell gasoline fumes that would overwhelm the passenger cabin while the car was idling. It's important to note that Honda has admitted that this is a known problem with the 2016 CRV models. Before leasing or buying, it's recommended to do some research. Unfortunately, my car has been at the dealership for four weeks without a fix. This has been a stressful situation for my family, especially with a one year old son. Prolonged exposure to gasoline fumes can lead to a variety of medical issues, which is why I refuse to allow my son to be exposed to the fumes. I hope this information helps others avoid the stress that my family has experienced with the 2016 CRV.

I recently purchased an LX FWD for $21,687.82, not including tax and license fees. After bidding it out to six dealers at the end of the month, I found that the features on this basic CR-V are quite good. The only feature I miss is hands-free entry, which is available on higher-trim models. I've been driving the car for a month now and I'm pleased with it in all respects except for the steering feel, which I find to be rather heavy. However, the gas mileage is amazing for a vehicle of this size and the performance is quite good. The CVT is quite peppy at low speed or from a start, though it still has that CVT high rpm response when accelerating from higher speed. The space in this car makes it practical for long trips or hauling stuff. The 2.4L engine puts out very adequate power while getting good gas mileage. All things considered, this vehicle is an amazing value, especially the LX FWD. Update: I've had the car now for three years, and my excellent ratings remain. You could easily spend twice what this car cost us and not get equivalent reliability, driveability, and practicality.

It's no surprise that the CR-V is a top seller and receives rave reviews from professionals. It truly delivers everything a compact SUV should have, with ample space for both passengers and cargo, and a smooth ride. All of my passengers, who are around 6 feet tall, have plenty of room in both the front and back seats. Although it can be a bit of a squeeze to buckle seat belts, once everyone is settled in, they're good to go. I compared this segment extensively and even considered the Prius V wagon, but ultimately found the CR-V to be the easiest to drive. While some other compact SUVs may have lower starting prices for their base models, the CR-V is priced the best when you're shopping for top trim levels with all available features. The Touring trim comes with leather seats, a sunroof (although I wish it were panoramic), a power liftgate, a collision mitigation braking system (which I actually saw in action in my vehicle yesterday!), lane departure warning (which most others offer too, but I don't find this feature that useful), lane keep assist (which most others don't have and I find VERY useful), adaptive cruise control (which is really neat - I've used it around town and I'm looking forward to using it on our long family road trips), and that nifty right-side lane view mirror - I'm really liking that. I'm also getting good gas mileage. Although some people have mentioned a vibration issue with the 2015 model, I am sensitive to motion and shopped for the vibrations since I was aware of what others had said. I can tell you that it really is a non-issue in the 2016 model, and from what I understand, those with the issue in the 2015 model can go to the dealer to have it fixed. No vehicle is entirely still at idle, except maybe the Prius since it shuts off its engine, but then again, that Prius sure didn't drive like this CR-V does! :)

I previously owned a 2009 Honda CRV EXL with Navi and absolutely loved it! It was the best car I've had so far. However, I'm not a big fan of the new EXL interface, especially the radio and the lack of on and off buttons. I wish they would go back to the 2009 interface on the dashboard, which was easy to use and had more features like more stations and a 6 CD holder. This new interface takes some time getting used to, but it's a smooth riding car overall. I wanted to buy one last year, but I heard about all the vibration issues, so I really wanted to take this one for a lengthy test drive. It seems fine, and I love the interior beige leather too. The only things I'm not too happy with are the audio music and the lack of speakers in the rear. However, I'm sure I'll get used to all the so-called 'updated' features in time. It's a really nice car overall, but I hope they can make it more user-friendly in the future.

The Honda CRV-AWD is a fantastic choice for your next car. It performs well on all road surfaces and has plenty of storage space in the rear of the vehicle. Although I wish there was a bit more storage room up front in the driver's compartment, I absolutely love the pull-down seats for big hauls! With an overall fuel economy of 28 mpg, it's a great option for those who want to save on gas. I highly recommend driving the car in ECO mode, as it only slightly reduces power while increasing fuel efficiency by almost 2 mpg on the highway and just over 1 mpg in the city. While the ride can be a bit stiff and bumpy, it is by no means uncomfortable. The layout and engineering of this vehicle are truly magnificent. I am extremely pleased with my purchase of the Honda CRV-AWD SUV!

I recently upgraded my 2012 CRV XE AWD to the Touring model after considering it for a year. I was looking for key features such as Home Link, Blind Spot Mirror, and automatic lift gate, but was pleasantly surprised by the Technology loaded touring model which included Nav, lane departure, speed control cruise with automatic braking, better headlights, and interior upgrades such as memory seats for driver and rear heating and cooling vent for rear passengers. After 6 months of steady driving, I must say that this is a wonderful SUV. I enjoy the features that were lacking in the 2012 CRV, with the lift gate automatic opening being the best new feature, as well as the safety features in this CRV. The ride feels firm with 18
