2022 Honda Cr-v problems
The Honda CR-V (also sold as the Honda Breeze in China since 2019) is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Japanese automaker Honda since 1995. Initial models of the CR-V were built using the same platform as the Civic.
Honda began producing the CR-V in Sayama, Japan, and Swindon, United Kingdom, for worldwide markets, adding North American manufacturing sites in East Liberty, Ohio, United States, in 2007; El Salto, Jalisco, Mexico, in late 2007 (ended in early 2017); Alliston, Ontario, Canada, in 2012; and Greensburg, Indiana, United States, in February 2017. The CR-V is also produced in Wuhan for the Chinese market by Dongfeng Honda, and also marketed as the Breeze in China for the version produced at Guangzhou by Guangqi Honda.
Honda states "CR-V" stands for "Comfortable Runabout Vehicle," while the term "Compact Recreational Vehicle" is used in a British car review article that was republished by Honda, associating the model name with the Sports Utility Vehicle abbreviation of SU-V.
As of 2022, the CR-V is positioned between the smaller ZR-V (marketed as HR-V in North America) – which the CR-V shares platform with – and the larger North American market Passport/Pilot or the Chinese market Avancier/UR-V. It is currently Honda's best-selling vehicle in the world, and the second best-selling SUV globally in 2020.

These issues can lead to decreased functionality, safety, and confidence in the vehicle. While the CR-V does offer a useful selection of economical drivetrain options and a comfortable cabin with cozy interiors, potential buyers should be aware of these issues and consider the costs of addressing them before making a purchase.
What is the electrical issue with the Honda CR-V 2022?
At issue is a 12-volt battery cable that may be missing a fuse. Honda is recalling about 106,000 CR-V hybrid sport-utility vehicles for model years 2020 through 2022. At issue is a 12-volt battery cable that may be missing a fuse, potentially causing the cable to short-circuit or overheat during a crash.
Is there any recalls on a 2022 Honda CR-V?
Honda is recalling over 106,000 CR-V Hybrid SUVs from the 2020 through 2022 model years because a missing fuse could cause a cable to overheat or short-circuit in a crash. The missing fuse is in a cable that connects with the 12-volt starter battery (not the hybrid battery pack).
What year CR-V has the least problems?
The second-generation CR-V receives praise for its excellent reliability. If you're looking for a more affordable used Honda CR-V then a second-generation vehicle could be the ideal choice. The 05 and 06 models in particular have very strong Honda CR-V reliability reviews.
Is new CR-V reliable?
As a new car they stack up well against the competition in terms of quality and features. Honda CRV and Toyota RAV/4 are equivalent in terms of being a reliable SUV. They will both last 10-20 years with good care, and will both run for over 200K miles.

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-26
- VIN: 2HKRW2H97NH
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: The vehicle's steering started to feel harder or sticky when making turns (right turn particularly) since March 2024 (with the mileage around 33500). When making turns, you always feels some resistance or stickness of the wheel or noise especially for some long or sharp turns (ramps on the high ways or big turns). The probably had been on and off but had been consistent recently. We took the vehicle to the dealer on 10/4/24 and they claimed they cannot reproduce the problem but told us that they had been notice the same problems for other CRV and we need to wait for the official recall. Now the problem had been getting worse and it had been affecting the driving and safety when making turns.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-22
- VIN: 2HKRW2H91NH
- Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: I was driving down a wide and straight road with no other cars anywhere around me. Suddenly, the automatic emergency braking system became activated and the car brakes came on for absolutely no reason. This could have caused a major accident if there was any traffic near me and is a very dangerous flaw in my car.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

- Summary: Vehicle developed a cold start misfire when starting in the mornings. It was doing it every so often since the 25th September but it is doing it more frequently now. Taking it in to the dealer to have faulty GDI fuel injectors replaced. Heard it is a common problem on hondas
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-01
- VIN: 2HKRW2H50NH
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: Vehicle has steering issues that act up intermittently and sporadic. The steering issue has been intermittent for the past 8 months or so. When I am going around a right-hand curve in the road the steering wheel will get "sticky" or stuck in a certain spot and require more force than is generally required to turn the wheel. In other words, normally the steering is like butter and moves easily and freely in any direction. But when this issue occurs the steering is no longer easy to move but gets stiff or "sticky" in a certain location. Also, if I am making a sharp right hand turn from one street onto another the steering sometimes makes a click noise and I get a vibration and leftwards tugging sensation feeling to the left in the steering wheel. This is also a very intermittent and sporadic problem. I feel this is a safety issue because the "sticky steering" is alarming while you are driving and there is the potential for one to overcompensate and possibly crash. I took the vehicle back to where I bought it in April 2024 for this steering issue. I bought it at JONES HONDA, MANHEIM PIKE, LANCASTER PA. Jones simply told me that they could not duplicate the problem and I should return when the vehicle is experiencing these issues. I returned one week later when the car was acting up for me but the technician rode along and I could not get the car to act up again on our ride. The problem is very intermittent and that makes it especially difficult to get fixed. However, having said that, I don't feel Jones Honda has been honest with me about what they know about similar complaints and I don't feel Jones has made a good faith effort to do what is required to fix the issue. There are no odd warning lights or anything that comes on which might help pinpoint the issue.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-09
- VIN: 7FARW1H58NE
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: I was thrilled to hear that there is a recall for Honda Cr-V steering problems. When I searched my VIN, there is no recall for my car. My steering has been problematic since this summer - there is resistance to turn the wheel when making a turn and at times there is a clicking/sticking noise that happens. HONDA, PLEASE RECALL ALL VEHICLES THAT ARE AFFECTED.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-07
- VIN: 7FARW2H89NE
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I purchased a brand new Honda CRV 2022 ,VIN [XXX] , on [XXX] in Herson's Honda Rockville Dealership, Maryland. Shortly after the purchase the navigation system started to malfunction creating putting me in a danger on the road. After 10 minutes of driving the map goes blurred then screen gets saturated, the map gets smeared. It creates unsafe driving experience. I have addressed this issue to the Honda service center several times in 2022 and 2023 separately and during each routine oil change. There was no successful solution so far. I feel very unsafe and discouraged to drive this car with this ongoing issue. Specially with the kids in the car. I had several situations of losing the control of direction while on the highway due to map getting unclear. In March and April 2024 I reached out to American Honda, they created a case, sent me a survey, sent me to the service center but did not provide any solution. There was no written solution by the side of American Honda, only phone calls advising this is a software issue with Apple and Android and told me to wait for the software update. It has been two years, no solution. This problem substantially impairs the car's value or use. I have only driven it 17,000.00 miles since I don't feel safe driving long distances in it. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-20
- VIN: 5J6RT6H85NL
- Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: I was driving on a straight road (daylight, dry conditions) in my 2022 Honda CR-V (mid trim level) using my adaptive cruise control. The closest cars ahead of me, and in the periphery, were at least three quarters of a mile away. All of a sudden, the car, independent of me, SLAMMED on the brakes. Fortunately, this did not cause an accident, but 10 minutes earlier, when I was on a crowded interstate during rush hour, the result might have been very different. As I reflect on this incident, I realize that this has happened at least twice before. However, in those cases, I thought the front sensor had picked up a curved barricade or something. But no! Apparently the CR-V randomly slams on the brakes. Clearly this is a dangerous situation that needs to be resolved. Ideally there will be a recall within the next few months to replace whatever component is causing this problem to happen.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-17
- VIN: 7FARW1H56NE
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: Recently purchased a used 2022 honda crv. We t99k a trip to Denver and I noticed the steering wheel became "sticky" above 35mph. I had to be careful not to overcompensate. I read up on this problem and found out similar models from 22-24 are effected but there's no active recall. I haven't taken it to a dealer yet. Wanted to make the NHTSA aware my vehicle has a similar issue in hopes that something will be done that is not at my expense. The problem still persists since the original discovery. The vehicle has 43000 miles so it is no longer under warranty.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-25
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: The contact owns a 2022 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V844000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The manufacturer had informed the contact of the recall. The dealer was contacted and informed that the vehicle could not be repaired due to the unavailable parts. The contact had not experienced a failure. The VIN was not available.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-27
- VIN: 2HKRW2H58NH
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: My steering has a "sticky" moment when I try to turn right. It happens after 20 min. drive and is worst on speed over 55 m/h on highway when is difficult to keep the car in lane. I went to Honda dealer 2 times, but because there is no warning light on dash board, they were not concern. They tested my car on back roads on slow speed and when the engine was cold, no more than 5 min. They didn't reproduce the condition when this "sticky steering" happens on my car. This problem happened in my first year of lease after 10,000 miles when it was just a light sticking when turn right. Now after 22,000 miles the problem is worst even a noise as "crack" comes some times from my front wheels. Dealer told 'me they can't do anything until a recall is coming or something happen to my car like a stuck steering. This is not normal to wait until I would have an accident because of power steering

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-01
- VIN: 7FARW2H82NE
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: There is a point in the steering system where the wheel sticks momentarily, both left and right. It only happens after driving long distances when the car is fully warmed up. My wife was downright frightened driving it from Missoula to Spokane WA on [XXX] at free way speeds, there are many curves in this road and it stuck repeatedly. She was able to force it past the point of resistance each time but it's very disconcerting. Honda dealer in Spokane test drove it and says it's fine. We are trying to get it in again and demand that the rack and pinion be replaced. I have a video of what it does - after a long drive as I was pulling into the garage it was sticking and I was able to capture it. ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-04
- VIN: 7FARW2H54NE
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Two incidents where the Engine suddenly shut off. Incident 1 (August 4th): We had come to a complete stop at a traffic light. After a few seconds the engine shut off (we had Auto Start/Stop disabled), the dash and radio briefly stopped and then the dashboard's indicator lights lid up as they would before a car is started. We put the gear shift into Park and restarted the car. It started right away and we had no issues for 1 week. Incident 2 (August 11th): While pulling into our inclined driveway and almost stopped or just stopped, the Engine shut off again (this time Auto Start/Stop was active) and the car started to roll back. We applied the brakes, the car stopped. We put the gear shift into Park and restarted the car. The car restarted without problems. We are worried because this happened for a second time now and we are not sure if this sudden Engine shut off could occur while driving / driving at high speeds.
