2007 Honda Cr-v problems
The Honda CR-V (also sold as the Honda Breeze in China since 2019) is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Japanese automaker Honda since 1995. Initial models of the CR-V were built using the same platform as the Civic.
Honda began producing the CR-V in Sayama, Japan, and Swindon, United Kingdom, for worldwide markets, adding North American manufacturing sites in East Liberty, Ohio, United States, in 2007; El Salto, Jalisco, Mexico, in late 2007 (ended in early 2017); Alliston, Ontario, Canada, in 2012; and Greensburg, Indiana, United States, in February 2017. The CR-V is also produced in Wuhan for the Chinese market by Dongfeng Honda, and also marketed as the Breeze in China for the version produced at Guangzhou by Guangqi Honda.
Honda states "CR-V" stands for "Comfortable Runabout Vehicle," while the term "Compact Recreational Vehicle" is used in a British car review article that was republished by Honda, associating the model name with the Sports Utility Vehicle abbreviation of SU-V.
As of 2022, the CR-V is positioned between the smaller ZR-V (marketed as HR-V in North America) – which the CR-V shares platform with – and the larger North American market Passport/Pilot or the Chinese market Avancier/UR-V. It is currently Honda's best-selling vehicle in the world, and the second best-selling SUV globally in 2020.

Common 2007 Honda Cr-v problems
The Honda CR-V 2007 is known for several common problems based on complaints from owners. Here are some of the most frequently reported issues:
- Oil consumption: The 2.4L 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine in the 2007 Honda CR-V is known to consume oil. This issue is caused by deposits on the oil control rings that cause them to stick in their grooves. The warranty coverage for this issue was extended for 8 years, and many engines were repaired under this warranty. To keep the engine in good shape, it's essential to check the engine oil level regularly and top up as needed.
- Starter motor: A failing starter motor may cause a no-start issue. The starter motor will need to be replaced or rebuilt. Replacing a starter motor will cost 1.5 hours of labor plus the part, which can range from $130 to $320 for an aftermarket unit.
- Purge valve (solenoid): A bad purge valve can cause the Check Engine light with the code P0497. Replacing the purge valve is easy and not very expensive.
- Transmission fluid pressure switch: A faulty transmission fluid pressure switch can cause the Check Engine light with codes P0843, P0842, or P0847 and possibly flashing "D" transmission indicator light. The switch part is not very expensive, and the repair is relatively straightforward.
- Rear differential noise: A growling or groaning noise from the rear end at slow-speed turns can be caused by worn-out fluid in the rear differential. The Honda TSB recommends replacing the rear differential fluid and burnishing the rear differential clutches.
- Door lock actuators: The door lock actuators tend to fail, and there was a recall on this issue. It's essential to check the door lock actuators and replace them if necessary.
- Alternator and rear wiper motor: There are also reported issues with the alternator and the rear wiper motor, but these tend to be rarer.
- AC clutch: A rumbling sound emanating from under the rear of the car, especially with the steering on full lock, indicates potential differential problems. A squeaking noise from the clutch on manual cars means a replacement is needed, and there are also reported issues with the alternator and the rear wiper motor, but these tend to be rarer.
- Tires and brakes: A common complaint is the CR-V’s appetite for tyres; having to replace them after a mere 12,000 miles is not unknown, especially for models riding on larger alloy wheels. The brakes can take a pounding, too, so make sure that you keep them regularly inspected: especially the discs, which can pit or develop a distinct lip of a few millimetres depth on the edge when worn.
- Valve clearances: The 2.0-litre petrol engine needs its valve clearances checked and adjusted every 75,000 miles, so carefully inspect the service history to make sure that this has been done on schedule.
In summary, the Honda CR-V 2007 has several common problems, including oil consumption, starter motor failure, purge valve issues, transmission fluid pressure switch problems, rear differential noise, door lock actuator failure, alternator and rear wiper motor issues, AC clutch problems, tire and brake wear, and valve clearance adjustments. Owners should be aware of these issues and take appropriate action to maintain their vehicles and address any problems that arise.

- Summary: Front passenger door when unlocked, locks back by itself. This is not safe because it makes it hard to get out of the vehicle because when you think it’s unlocked and try to get out you’re locked in. I checked to see if there was a recall because I normally get recall notices about other issues. I found that there was indeed a recall but it expired in 2015 which in honesty is not fair to those that have had their vehicles for sometime and during that time period…and never received a recall notification.

- Summary: Ref: NHTSA Recall #23V-228 We are requesting that the recall be reopened and revised to add complaint regarding Smail Honda located 5043, RT 30, Greensburg, PA 15601 who damaged our car when doing the recall. The dealership damaged the vehicle when they did recall attachment of braces, to the point where it will no longer pass Required PA Safety Inspection. On 9/21/23 we took our car to Smail Honda Village in Greensburg for Honda Campaign: UE3 related to corrosion of the rear frame on our 2007 Honda CRV. According to the reason for the recall “Corrosion can form in the rear frame” and “the rear frame can deteriorate”. In the recall notice, we were told: “Your Honda dealer will inspect the rear frame for corrosion…. If the rear frame cannot be repaired, Honda may offer to repurchase the vehicle from you.” My husband was told that the corrosion was so bad in the rear of the vehicle that it will not pass inspection. If it cannot pass the next PA state inspection, then essentially, it should be considered unsafe to drive. This would appear to represent the “spirit” of the recall which is to get unsafe Honda cars off the road and save lives. Nevertheless, the dealership did not offer to repurchase the vehicle as they should have done but they continued to attach the brace to this severely rusted frame which they, themselves, have determined is so bad that it will not pass inspection. The dealership has failed to remedy the dangerous corrosion of the rear frame in this vehicle which is the basic intent of the recall, and we are extremely dissatisfied with the attempt to remedy this safety issue. We are requesting that Honda Repurchase this vehicle and indicated in recall notice.

I have to stand right at the door handle to grab it the moment I click the unlock button to be able to open the door. Our safety is jeopardized by the lock malfunction because if I don’t have the key in hand I cannot open the passenger side doors and if you have kids this is a big concern. This happens every time we use the vehicle which is daily. We have not taken it to a dealership at this time. This specific problem has not been inspected. This problem just began several months ago and has occurred everyday since.

Congratulations on your new 07 CR-V EX! It's great to hear that you did your research and found the perfect car for you. I'm glad you were able to find a dealership that had a good selection to choose from and that you were able to negotiate a good deal. The green tea EX 2WD sounds like a great choice. I understand your concern about the fold and tumble seats, but I'm sure you'll find a way to make them work for you. It's also good to know that Honda has better resale value and slightly better gas mileage than some of the other options you were considering. Enjoy your new car!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my thoughts on your recent car purchase. I completely understand the need for AWD in the hills of VT, even if the snow hasn't been too bad this year. I'm glad to hear that your first impression of the vehicle is positive and that it feels safe and secure. It's great that you're getting a reasonable 25-26 miles per gallon, especially with mostly city driving. The fit and finish of the car are excellent, as expected from Honda. However, I do understand that the main cabin area lacks storage space. Overall, it sounds like you made a great choice with your purchase. Let me know if you have any other thoughts or questions!

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with the Honda CR-V. I don't drive often, but when I do, I absolutely love driving this SUV! It handles like a dream and is incredibly easy to maneuver in tight spaces. The internal cargo space is fantastic, and the seating is flexible enough to accommodate larger items. Plus, it gets great mileage and has plenty of power under the hood for all my driving needs. The seating area is also very comfortable and versatile. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my Honda CR-V and I know it will provide me with years of reliable performance. Thanks for listening!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with Honda and their amazing cars. I recently purchased my sixth Honda/Acura and I couldn't be happier. This time, I decided to go for the CRV and it's been a game-changer for me. As someone who runs a Karaoke business, I needed a car that could accommodate all my equipment and the CRV has been perfect for that. It's not just practical, it's also really fun to drive! The interior is so luxurious and the exterior has so much character. I did test drive the Rav, but I wasn't a fan of the rear door or the spare tire hanging off the back. Overall, I highly recommend the CRV if you're in the market for a small SUV. Thanks for reading!

Superb fit and finish, relatively tight handling for a small SUV/CUV, impressive interior materials, and upscale exterior styling. We paid a little over $25K for this vehicle, which compares favorably to others costing $10K more (taking the engine out of the equation). Overall, it's a great value for the price!

I have noticed some rust on the back of the trunk lid of my 2007 Honda, despite having it rust-proofed annually since purchase. The rust appears to be on the surface paint and is most severe around the plastic Honda plate on the back. Although the car is out of warranty, I am curious if others have experienced similar issues and how they resolved them. I believe that I have taken all necessary precautions to prevent rust and should not be responsible for the cost of repairs. I am hesitant to fix one spot as I fear that other areas may also be affected. It is important to address this issue as it appears to be a recurring problem that requires attention.

Hello! I've had this car for three years and I'm already considering buying a third set of tires. While the car itself is fine and I feel safe driving my children in it, the cost of tires is becoming a bit expensive for me. Unfortunately, I'm on a budget and was hoping for a low maintenance vehicle. I'm saying goodbye to my CR-V for now.
