As of 2022, the CR-V is positioned between the smaller ZR-V (marketed as HR-V in North America) – which the CR-V shares platform with – and the larger North American market Passport/Pilot or the Chinese market Avancier/UR-V. It is currently Honda's best-selling vehicle in the world, and the second best-selling SUV globally in 2020.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2000 Honda Cr-v.

- Summary: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2001-2002 Acura 3.2CL, 2000-2003 Acura 3.5RL, 2000-2001 Acura 3.2TL, Honda CR-V and Honda Odyssey, 2001-2002 Acura MDX and 2000 Accord Coupe, Accord Sedan, Civic Coupe, and Civic Sedan vehicles. These vehicles may have received a replacement driver frontal air bag module as part of a vehicle repair. Due to a manufacturing issue, the replacement NADI inflator may absorb moisture, causing the inflator to rupture or the air bag cushion to underinflate.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, an inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants. An underinflated air bag cushion may not properly protect the occupant. These scenarios increase the risk of serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the air bags in the vehicles, replacing the driver frontal air bag inflator with an inflator of a different design, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 1, 2020. Owners may contact American Honda's Customer Support & Campaign Center at 1-888-234-2138.

These vehicles were equipped with Non-Azide Driver air bag Inflators (NADI) and do not contain phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. Due to a manufacturing issue, the NADI inflators may absorb moisture, causing the inflators to rupture or the air bag cushion to underinflate.

Overall, the CR-V is a truly excellent car. It is fuel efficient for an AWD SUV, versatile, comfortable, and fun to drive. Although the engine is somewhat underpowered, it is still responsive and the CR-V is fun to drive, particularly with the manual transmission. I bought it in 2005 with 68,000 miles and now have 136,000 on it, and I have only had to fix one thing that wasn't standard maintenance (driver's side power window). I highly recommend it for anyone who wants a reliable, safe, and fun small SUV. With an overall mileage of about 25 mpg, which isn't bad considering the AWD, it's a great choice for anyone looking for a car that ticks all the boxes.

I absolutely love my Honda! It's so sporty and cute, and I get great gas mileage for an SUV. The transition from the back seat to the cargo area is a breeze, and the picnic table that doubles as a cargo bed is such a unique feature. Plus, there are plenty of cool storage areas, including one under the picnic table. I've been searching for a new car, but I just can't seem to find anything that rivals the CR-V.

My CRV has been in the family its whole life. My grandparents bought it new from the dealership and it drove beautifully until 2015 when her transmission gave us trouble. Her name is Bessie because she's stubborn like a cow with the wonky transmission. But at that point, she had just hit 250,000 miles and that was the only thing wrong. Although the people who rebuilt the transmission did a bad job, it has been rebuilt since and now needs a new transmission at 303,000 miles. That's truly the only thing wrong with Bessie besides normal wear and tear! My CRV has been super reliable going to and from school, church, work, and home. She's also been victim to some hit and runs and has been drivable but legally totaled for years. I still love her and I would fix her if I could! She's super reliable, lasts forever, and worth the repairs!!! She's going to retire now, but I recommend her brothers, sisters, and cousins!

The Honda CR-V is a highly rated mini SUV for good reason! I test drove both the automatic and manual versions, and personally preferred the manual for its power. I currently own a 5-speed and absolutely love it! After researching all the mini SUVs available, Honda came out on top in terms of ratings. Now that I own one, I can see why! It's spacious, enjoyable to drive, reliable, quiet, and fully functional. I've used it for a variety of purposes, including transporting DJ equipment, long distance travel, commuting to work, and more. It's a versatile vehicle that I highly recommend. The only issue I've encountered is with the locks' functionality.

This CRV was in the shop 5 times within two years. Three of those times were for the same electronic engine problem. While the CRV is great for flat land driving, it may struggle in hilly terrain due to its power. However, I hope this information helps you make an informed decision.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my car. I purchased it 3 years ago after reading a great review on Car Fax. Although I paid $4k for it, I've put in a similar amount of money since then. Unfortunately, the timing belt broke and caused some piston damage. I had to replace the water pump, fuel filter, blown head gasket, and timing belt twice. I have a whole folder of receipts to prove it! I was a bit disappointed because I thought Hondas were more reliable than this one. At the time of purchase, it only had 120k miles on it, but now it's at about 160k. I'm considering replacing it soon with a Nissan or Kia. By the way, it's a 2000 model. Let me know if you have any questions!

Gas mileage is excellent. Although, the interior could be more comfortable and less awkward. The placement of everything is too high, making it difficult to reach. Additionally, it's hard to turn even the smallest corners without everything sliding all over the place, causing cups to fall out of the cup holders.
