2011 Honda Cr-v problems
The Honda CR-V (also sold as the Honda Breeze in China since 2019) is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Japanese automaker Honda since 1995. Initial models of the CR-V were built using the same platform as the Civic.
Honda began producing the CR-V in Sayama, Japan, and Swindon, United Kingdom, for worldwide markets, adding North American manufacturing sites in East Liberty, Ohio, United States, in 2007; El Salto, Jalisco, Mexico, in late 2007 (ended in early 2017); Alliston, Ontario, Canada, in 2012; and Greensburg, Indiana, United States, in February 2017. The CR-V is also produced in Wuhan for the Chinese market by Dongfeng Honda, and also marketed as the Breeze in China for the version produced at Guangzhou by Guangqi Honda.
Honda states "CR-V" stands for "Comfortable Runabout Vehicle," while the term "Compact Recreational Vehicle" is used in a British car review article that was republished by Honda, associating the model name with the Sports Utility Vehicle abbreviation of SU-V.
As of 2022, the CR-V is positioned between the smaller ZR-V (marketed as HR-V in North America) – which the CR-V shares platform with – and the larger North American market Passport/Pilot or the Chinese market Avancier/UR-V. It is currently Honda's best-selling vehicle in the world, and the second best-selling SUV globally in 2020.

Common 2011 Honda Cr-v problems
The 2011 Honda CR-V is a compact SUV known for its reliability, car-like ride, and comfortable interior. However, like any vehicle, it has its share of common problems that owners have reported.
One of the most significant issues is engine revving or acceleration while braking, which can be a severe safety concern. This problem has led to several accidents and many close calls. Drivers have reported that the vehicle wouldn't stop accelerating until they hit something or put the vehicle into neutral. Honda has attributed this issue to driver error or unanchored floor mats causing the gas pedal to stick. However, many drivers claim that they took their vehicles to dealerships or independent mechanics, and no issues were found.
Another common problem is excessive oil consumption. Honda has stated that this issue occurs when owners rev the engine often and use low-quality gas, leading to carbon deposits on the piston rings, which then allows oil to seep past the rings. Honda extended the warranty to 8 years or 125,000 miles, and they can perform a test for oil consumption. However, the 2011 CR-V is past the extended warranty, and rebuilding or replacing the engine is required to repair the problem, which can be quite expensive.
Premature or uneven tire wear is another issue that owners have reported. The original tires wear out consistently at 10,000-15,000 miles, and when new tires are purchased, they get about half of the mileage they should before they need to be replaced. The problem is that the rear camber on the CR-V isn't adjustable, making it impossible to do a proper alignment. There is a fix for the issue, which involves purchasing aftermarket adjustable arms, but it can cost around $1,000 for parts and labor. Many owners believe that it is unfair that they have to pay for Honda's design flaw.
In summary, while the 2011 Honda CR-V is generally a reliable vehicle, it has some common problems that owners have reported, such as engine revving or acceleration while braking, excessive oil consumption, and premature or uneven tire wear. These issues can be expensive to repair and may affect the vehicle's safety and reliability. Therefore, potential buyers should be aware of these problems and consider them when purchasing a 2011 CR-V.
Are there any problems with the 2011 Honda CR-V?
What Owners Say. "Most of the exhaust rusted out. The catalytic converter needed to be replaced because the pipes going to and from it were also rusted out and it couldn't be saved or so I was told." "Did not experience any problems until my yearly inspection, when told that it was worn and had to be replaced."
Is 2011 a bad year for Honda CR-V?
The 2011 Honda CR-V continues the trend and is certainly an example of Honda at its best. There are some downsides to the CR-V, but overall they're overcome by many strengths. We're certainly smitten with the CR-V's ability to comfortably take on both people and cargo.
What is the transmission problem on a 2011 Honda CR-V?
2011-2014 Honda CR-V models have been reported to experience a transmission “judder” – a vibration, shaking, or shudder when the vehicle is driven at low acceleration. This defect could affect steering and transmission shifting while on the road.

- Summary: I'm driving along and the car door locks don't recognize that there already locked. They keep going off. The car is shut off and the door locks keep going off and the dom light keeps coming on every time the doors lock even though they are already locked. I couldn't get out of my car the other day because of this. I know now why someone sold it to the dealer ship. I've had the car a couple of months and I'm ready to sell it. I don't feel safe. Also the navigation date will not stay on the current day of 2024. It keeps rebooting back to Feb 2005. I bought it July 25, 2024 for $14,835. Apparently, I'm not the only car out there that has this problem. Why is this not being fixed. It is a SAFETY HAZARD TO GET LOCKED IN YOUR VEHICLE AND CANT GET OUT. I HAD TO CALL ROAD SIDE ASST. This is unacceptable when I pay this kind of money for a vehicle.

- Summary: Drivers side door lock is stuck and will not open. I had to crawl out of the passenger door to exit the vehicle. After exiting the car I tried locking and unlocking the car using the fab. Once the doors were locked none of the doors would open using the fab even though the fab was visibly working. I had to call AAA to come unlock the car. I can unlock all of the doors from the inside except for the drivers door. If I lock my car I will be locked out out of it, so my vehicle is now not secure. This is the first time this has happened.

- Summary: I have always known that after entering the vehicle and beginning a trip, all four doors and hatch would automatically lock and stay locked until a passenger unlocked one of the doors. But sometime this past weekend, I began noticing that the vehicle would try to relock all doors EVERY time the vehicle accelerated after idling, which is quite often. When I pointed this out to my teenager in the front passenger seat, she noticed that the door behind the driver's seat was not locking during each attempt. She tried to lock all doors from her door, but that one would not lock. Then I tried to lock all doors from my door, but that one would not lock. When we returned home, I tried to lock all doors from my key fob, but that one would not lock. I also tried to lock that one manually with my hand, but it won't lock. This is a safety issue for multiple reasons. For one, I don't want that door to accidentally open while the car is in motion. But secondly, I currently don't feel safe parking my car anywhere outside of my garage if anyone can currently open that door.

The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) and contacted the manufacturer for the recall repair. The manufacturer advised the contact to tow the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where a regional field inspector from Honda determined that the vehicle was beyond repair due to severe frame corrosion. The manufacturer opened a case. The contact stated that the recall remedy also involved buying back the vehicle if the vehicle was beyond repair; however, the contact had not received a call back from the manufacturer since April 2023. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

We bought the car brand new in 2011. It was a special order ex-l that rolled off the truck. We didn't have to pay for pin striping, under coatings, etc. The entire family has driven it to work, school, vacation, the ice cream shop, and so on. We've changed fluids and filters religiously and currently have 154,000 miles on it. Just get in, start the car, and drive. It's a Honda...

Make sure to stay up-to-date on any airbag recalls by searching your VIN number on the Honda website. Also, keep in mind that using cruise control may decrease your fuel efficiency.

We've owned the CRV for about a year now and we're happy with it. While it's not perfect and we still have some unresolved minor rattling coming from the front passenger side dashboard, we understand that no car is perfect. The CRV is the best-selling SUV in the USA and has earned the #7 slot for the best resale value award on kbb. Its reliability history is great and we've found that the interior design, especially the trip computer, provides excellent value for the money paid. The 2012 model also improved the roof strength, so we believe it's a 5-star vehicle in terms of safety. The build quality is good and we're pleased with it so far.

I bought my CRV in August 2011 and have already put 10k miles on it. I absolutely love driving it as it rides really nicely. It is smooth and quiet, making for a comfortable ride. Although I was surprised to learn that the tires are only good for 20-25k, I find the cargo space and gas mileage to be great. Additionally, it performs well in the snow. While I have read a couple of reviews about engine bolts sheering off, I am hopeful that it is not a common issue. Overall, I love my CRV for its safety ratings and roominess. My husband, who is 6'5'', and I, who am 5'10'', both fit comfortably and love it.

Acceleration, highway mileage, and wind noise are areas for improvement.

Hey there! Just wanted to give you a heads up if you're in the market for a new transmission. Unfortunately, mine went out at 125,000 miles (although my Honda Civic made it to 300,000 without any issues!). I just wanted to let you know that the cost to replace it was $3,600, which is quite a bit higher than many other SUV models out there.

I have a Honda CRV with 40,000 km (approximately 26k miles) on the clock. Unfortunately, the engine mounting bolts sheared off, causing the engine to drop through the bay. Thankfully, we are alive to share our experience. However, we are disappointed that Honda Australia is not covering the repair under warranty. It is concerning that a major defect in their car, which is life-threatening and a design flaw, is not being taken seriously. We hope that Honda Australia will take responsibility for this severe issue with the current CRV model. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Took delivery on my 2011 EX-L two weeks ago and it's a tidy, nimble little package. However, I'm having some trouble with the driver's seat. Unfortunately, it's proving to be quite uncomfortable and I can't drive for more than a few minutes at a time. The seat is too small, rock-hard, lumpy, badly contoured, and unsupportive for my thighs. I think it would be great if Honda could take a serious look at this issue...

Hi there! I recently traded my 2009 Civic SI 6 sp manual transmission for a 2011 CRV w/auto trans. So far, I'm really happy with it! Of course, it's not as much fun to drive as my Civic SI, but it does have the power when you need it. This past winter, with all the snow/ice, even a great set of tires made me dislike my Civic, so I opted for the 4WD CRV. The ride of the CRV is very nice and smooth, and the seats are much more comfortable than the ones in my Civic SI. Plus, the CRV doesn't have the road noise that my Civic Si had. Overall, I'm really pleased with my decision to switch to the CRV.

The CR-V EX-L with leather seats is a great car, but I have noticed that the driver's seat can be uncomfortable for some people. I have tried adjusting the seat in every way possible, but unfortunately, I still can't find a comfortable position. I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced this issue. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
