The Toyota Corolla (Japanese: トヨタ・カローラ, Hepburn: Toyota Karōra) is a series of compact cars (formerly subcompact) manufactured and marketed globally by the Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation. Introduced in 1966, the Corolla was the best-selling car worldwide by 1974 and has been one of the best-selling cars in the world since then. The name Corolla is part of Toyota's naming tradition of using names derived from the Toyota Crown for sedans, with "corolla" Latin for "small crown". The Corolla has always been exclusive in Japan to Toyota Corolla Store locations, and manufactured in Japan with a twin, called the Toyota Sprinter until 2000. From 2006 to 2018 in Japan and much of the world, and from 2018 to 2020 in Taiwan, the hatchback companion had been called the Toyota Auris.
Early models were mostly rear-wheel drive, while later models have been front-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive versions have also been produced, and it has undergone several major redesigns. The Corolla's traditional competitors have been the Nissan Sunny, introduced the same year as the Corolla in Japan and the later Nissan Sentra, Nissan Sylphy, Honda Civic and Mitsubishi Lancer. The Corolla's chassis designation code is "E", as described in Toyota's chassis and engine codes.

- Summary: Apparently my car's Engine Coolant Bypass Valve is broken and it's a common case with my car's model that's made after 2020. Seems like it there's a need a recall for such a thing since it's a defective part they knew about since my car was screaming at me for an engine maintenance. However, the check engine wasn't on. I went to Toyota at Elk Grove, CA and knew what the issue was pretty quick and charging me $700 to get it replaced. I feel like it's intentionally being handled poorly so they keep charging me 700 every few years to replace a $80 part. As well my story is very common with other customers of Toyota Cars made after 2020. I wanted to report this since that's potentially harmful to put out a car that could have engine problems easily. Especially it's a fairly newer car. Also, they have yet to replace the part for the known recall on this vehicle.

- Summary: The AC compressor is failing as it’s blowing hot air at idle or when the vehicle is running at 20-40mph. During Texas hot summers, baby & toddlers are at risk for extreme heat as the AC blows hot/warm air. The problem has been reproduce at an automotive AC shop where they have inspected the AC for leaks, vacuumed refrigerant and replaced refrigerant. Still same issues without any leaks. Police or insurance has not been involved. There are no dash lights when this happens and the issue happens daily which started 3 years ago. The vehicle is driven less because of the issue. There is a TSB T-SB-0086-14 that says this is covered within 36k mile warranty or 3 years. I bought the vehicle with 48K miles and about 2 years later the AC blows hot air at idle.

- Summary: I was in a car accident .A woman failed to yield at a stop sign and rammed into the front of my car at a high accelerated speed. I was restrained but the right side of my forehead hit the rearview mirror .causing two huge knots on my head. My eye glasses also smashed into my right eye and I had a cut above my eye .I was thrown to the right passenger seat area , my right hip hit the gear shift and my knees and hip , were bruised. Apparently the seatbelt failed as well , but my main complaint is that the airbags failed to deploy. I suffered damage strain and bruising to both hands, the left was worse , I was made to wear a brace . I was taken to the ER via ambulance . One of the officers assumed I wasn’t wearing a seatbelt , which was not true at all . He thought I hit the windshield but I did not , it was the mirror . I have proof , photos and all EMT and ER records report that I was restrained . A paramedic helped me remove the seatbelt to exit my car . I feel I wouldn't have suffered the head, eye and other injuries if the airbag had deployed.

- Summary: This is an issue I have noticed with my car shortly after I bought it. The problem is that the car has a noticable delay in acceleration when accelerating from a complete stop. After doing some research online, I found that the cause was the car's CVT transmission, and that a delay in acceleration happens with other cars with CVT transmissions as well. This could be potentially dangerous especially when making right turns on a red light or when making unprotected lefts on a green, as the window of opportunity to go is sometimes short in those situations, and delaying for even a second could mean the difference between a collision or a safe turn (especially since there are some fast drivers that go much past the speed limit and will appear from behind a hill all of a sudden). What is especially problematic is that the car will rarely accelerate normally when I press the pedal, but I would say around 80-90% of the time, the car will have a delay about 1 second before it actually starts moving. To my knowledge, this problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. I bought the car brand-new about half a year ago so it shouldn't have any problems. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone, and there were no warning lights or any other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. I didn't really notice that this car had this problem when I first drove it home from the dealership because I was not used to so many other aspects of the car, but after I got more used to driving it, I realized that the delay in acceleration wasn't normal.

I owned a 2006 Camry SE V6 for eight years and now I call my 2014 Corolla LE Premium my 'mini-Camry'. It's incredibly spacious and has very comfortable seats. The handling is excellent, firm but easily controlled, and the high-end Michelin Primacy 60K tires make for a smooth ride. It's also very quiet overall, with no wind noise. The car delivers an impressive 38 mpg on the highway and 34 mpg in town, making it very fuel-efficient. The visibility is excellent and the fit and finish are top-notch. I especially love the instant/trip average mpg bar chart on the Infotainment Center. I bought it without the normally included moon roof and Entune radio ($2400 extra) and it still has surprisingly good acceleration. Passing anything on the road is no problem. The rearview camera is terrific and should be on every car. After 32,000 miles, it's still an outstanding car with no unscheduled maintenance. The mileage is still in the 35-40mpg range. All is good. All the comments above still apply except I did have to have the HVAC blower replaced. Other than that, no unscheduled maintenance. The mileage is still holding in the 36-39 mpg range. Now, at 6 years old and 5,500 miles, I've had no unscheduled maintenance in the past 12 months. I just needed new wipers, air and cabin filters. I did have to buy a new set of Michelins, which are the same as the OEM tires that gave great, quiet service. I've never had an alignment done to it in 6 years and it still runs and drives like new with great mileage (35-38 mpg). I just sold it and acquired a 2019 Mazda CX-5 GT AWD that I will be submitting a review on in the upcoming months. Now at 52,000 miles, there has been no unscheduled maintenance and the tires are wearing perfectly. The mileage still ranges from 35 to 38 mpg and it runs and drives like it was new. All systems are working.

It is impressive to see such advanced safety features on a base model car, and I commend Toyota for prioritizing safety. Despite some minor issues with rattling noises in colder weather, I am confident in the long-term reliability of this vehicle. With less than 11,000 miles on the odometer, this car has a lot of potential and I am excited to see what it can do.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I've had it for 13 years and it's been such a reliable companion. I've only had to replace the tires and brakes, and it's been smooth sailing ever since. Unfortunately, it was recently totalled in an accident while I was on the highway. Thankfully, I wasn't seriously hurt, and I have to say, I'm really impressed with how well the Toyota held up. Despite the damage to the body, nothing came through to the inside of the car. It's definitely a safe car that I would recommend to anyone. Take care!

My family bought this car brand new 15 years ago. Despite having been in two major accidents and having the belts, starter, and alternator replaced, this car is still going strong after 204,000 miles. The only time it goes to the shop is to have the brakes changed and tires replaced, rotated, or balanced, which is a rare occurrence. I change the oil myself and have never had a transmission problem with this car. Although the body of the car is deteriorating, with chipping paint and an aging interior, that is to be expected with any old car. Soon, I will be getting another Toyota or Scion, despite the recent recalls. I trust that Toyota will address these issues and continue to be a reliable brand. As someone who is afraid to drive anything else, especially from the big 3, I know I can always count on Toyota to provide a safe and dependable ride.

On the plus side, the 2018 Corolla has safety features such as automatic braking. However, I am sorry to say that I traded in my 2015 Corolla, which was much roomier and had more comfortable seats. The biggest issue with the 2018 Corolla is that the seats are very hard and uncomfortable, especially for long trips. I had to stop at every rest area just to give my back and butt a rest. In contrast, the seats in my 2015 Corolla were very comfortable. I am planning to sell the 2018 Corolla as soon as I return from my trip.

Pros: The headlights are superb, providing even and bright illumination. The fit and finish are tight, and the construction is very solid, making for a durable vehicle. Additionally, the operating cost is low. Cons: The interior can feel quite claustrophobic and dark, with poor outward visibility. The car can also be quite noisy at speed, and has poor straight line stability, with persistent and irritating understeer. The exterior design is a bit boring. There are also some hard and sharp plastic elements in the wrong spots that can be uncomfortable.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I bought it used and it already had 240,000km on it, but I'm happy to say that it's still going strong! It's a Canadian car, so I was worried about rust, but there's not a spot of it anywhere. Even in the winter, when I have to cold start it twice a day as my commuter car, it hasn't given me a single problem. It's a little underpowered, but that's to be expected from an economy car. Plus, it's great on fuel - I get about 6l/100km in the summer and 8l/100km in the winter. Thanks for listening!

This used to be my wife's car, but now it's mine since I need to save on gas mileage. I actually quite like the look of this car, and the LE model has a really nice interior. The 5-speed manual transmission also gives me more power than I expected from a compact car. I should note that I'm 5'7

I have been a Toyota fan since I bought my first one in the 1960s. I have never owned any other brand and have always been satisfied with my Toyota cars. However, in 2016, I experienced some issues with my car. At low speeds, the car hesitates as if I am continually touching the brake. At highway speed, the car does not hold the road and drifts, so I am constantly steering to hold the car steady. Despite these issues, I have gotten used to the car, and it's not as bad as when I first got it. One good thing is that the hesitation has stopped, but it took a year. I am over 65, so I am not a fan of having to program everything, but that's my problem, not the car's. Overall, I still appreciate Toyota cars and their reliability over the years.
