1991 Toyota Corolla problems
The Toyota Corolla (Japanese: トヨタ・カローラ, Hepburn: Toyota Karōra) is a series of compact cars (formerly subcompact) manufactured and marketed globally by the Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation. Introduced in 1966, the Corolla was the best-selling car worldwide by 1974 and has been one of the best-selling cars in the world since then. In 1997, the Corolla became the best-selling nameplate in the world, surpassing the Volkswagen Beetle. Toyota reached the milestone of 50 million Corollas sold over twelve generations in 2021.
The name Corolla is part of Toyota's naming tradition of using names derived from the Toyota Crown for sedans, with "corolla" Latin for "small crown". The Corolla has always been exclusive in Japan to Toyota Corolla Store locations, and manufactured in Japan with a twin, called the Toyota Sprinter until 2000. From 2006 to 2018 in Japan and much of the world, and from 2018 to 2020 in Taiwan, the hatchback companion had been called the Toyota Auris.
Early models were mostly rear-wheel drive, while later models have been front-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive versions have also been produced, and it has undergone several major redesigns. The Corolla's traditional competitors have been the Nissan Sunny, introduced the same year as the Corolla in Japan and the later Nissan Sentra, Nissan Sylphy, Honda Civic and Mitsubishi Lancer. The Corolla's chassis designation code is "E", as described in Toyota's chassis and engine codes.

- Summary: I HAVE A TOYOTA COROLLA. I WAS PULLED OVER ONE TIME BY THE NASHUA POLICE IN 2007 ALLEGING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS SWERVING. I COULDN'T FEEL IF IT DOES..BUT COUPLE WEEKS AGO I OBSERVED IT VERY CLOSELY.AND YES IT DOES SWERVED. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD TO THE LIST OF MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINT THAT THE SECOND TIME THAT MY CAR ACCELERATED IN REVERSE MOTION COULD ALSO BE ATTRIBUTED TO STEERING MECHANISM. WHY ? I WAS ENGAGED IN REVERSE , WHILE CUTTING THE WHEEL TO MAKE A 90 DEGREES ANGLE BACKING BUT MY CAR WENT INTO A DONUT SPIN. AS A WOMAN WHAT DO I KNOW ABOUT CARS. ALL I KNOW IS THAT IT IS TOO IRONIC THAT THE SIMILARITIES OF THESE INCIDENTS ARE TOO FARFETCH TO IGNORE. THEY ARE IDENTICAL TO EACH OTHER. I AM SCARED TO RIDE IN IT SINCE THEN. I REMEMBER THE FIRST CAR I HAVE WAS A CELICA,THAT TOO CROSS A MIDDLE ISLAND WHILE I WAS MAKING A U TURN. AND THE RUST INSIDE MY TRUNK . WHY WOULD THE RUST IS INSIDE THE TRUNK. THE SEATBELT DOESN'T WORK. THE SEAT ARE TOO LOW THAT IF I DON'T REINFORCE IT WITH PADDED PILLOWS I COULD HARDLY SEE THE FRONT & THE BACK. I SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON THIS CAR BECAUSE I GET ATTACHED TO IT. ALSO THE HEADLIGHTS I HAVE CHANGED IT LIKE YOU WON'T BELIEVED. *TR

BOTH TIMES I WAS MAKING A REVERSE LEFT SIDE CORNER. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR THE LEFT BACKLIGHT IS DAMAGED. I PUT THINGS TOGETHER THAT MAYBE THE SAME THING HAD HAPPEN TO THE FIRST OWNER OF MY CAR. I HAVE DRIVEN IN ALL OVER THE WORLD FOR 18 YEARS, WITHOUT ANY ACCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME IN THE HIGHWAYS BUT THE ONLY TWO ACCIDENT I HAVE WITH SO FAR IS ON THIS CAR IN MY OWN BACKYARD, ON THE SAME EXACT MOTION, SAME WEATHER CONDITION. MY WIFE AND I DID NOT EVEN NOTICE WHEN WE WERE TEST DRIVING THE CAR. THEY APPEARED TO BE FINE. I BELIEVE THERE WERE MANY OF THESE CARS ON THE ROAD. THESE SEAT BELTS WERE JUNK AND NEEDED TO BE RECALLED BY TOYOTA, AND THEY NEED TO REPLACE THEM WITH PROPERLY WORKING ONES FREE OF CHARGE BEFORE PEOPLE GET HURT OR KILLED. I CALLED TOYOTA AND ASKED THEM TO FIX THEM FREE OF CHARGE. THEY TOLD ME THEY WILL NOT BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS WAS A VERY URGENT SAFETY ISSUE. TOYOTA NEEDS TO FIX THEM FREE OF CHARGE. I CALLED A TOYOTA DEALER, AND THEY WANT $600 FOR 3 SETS OF SEAT BELTS, AND THAT DID NOT NOT EVEN INCLUDE LABOR TO INSTALL THEM. TO MAKE THINGS WORSE THEY WERE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO WORK ON. THEY MADE IT DIFFICULT ON PURPOSE SO THAT THE CONSUMERS GOT STUCK WITH A HUGE BILLS IF THEY WANTED THE SEAT BELTS FIXED. I WISH TO HAVE AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS MATTER. *AK

This wagon has been an exceptionally reliable, practical, and comfortable vehicle. With ample room, it has met my needs for hauling stuff as well as an economical commute car. Maintenance has been routine, except for an exhaust manifold repair.
-
This is the most reliable car I have ever owned! I bought it brand new and owned it for seventeen years. Although the body did rust through, the engine never had a single problem. It would have lasted even longer if it had been kept in a garage.
-
This is definitely the best car I have ever owned. It has been 100% dependable in every way. Although the interior design and comfort are not rated tops by me, it has served its purpose well. The seat belts being in two pieces in front are the only areas of concern. As we are retired now and want more room for travelling, we are considering replacing the car. However, this is not a reflection on this car. When we bought it for one person, my wife, to drive to work economically, we wanted something small. It has exceeded our expectations for 11 years, with over 40 miles per gallon of gas on the highway, and keeping up with all but the craziest freeway drivers. I sure wish Toyota would come out with a Town Car!
-
These cars are truly amazing in almost every aspect, with the exception of the interior. The handling is smooth and responsive, and the pickup for a 110hp with 1587cc displacement engine definitely blows my mind. I absolutely love driving it, this thing is still a kid inside. The only thing I can find that I don't necessarily enjoy is the soft suspension. I remember it being semi-stiff when we got it, but the years have softened it. Still, I can remember taking a few turns and bumping the bottom onto the road then and now, not speeding or anything. I think Toyota wanted it to be a secret sports car. It doesn't look anything like one, so maybe they've accomplished that in this area.
-
My Rolla is the best car I've ever owned. It has 180,000 miles and still drives like the day it rolled off the showroom, with only regular maintenance done. I used Syntec oil though :). It even smoked my friend's '99 Sunfire, so it's got the speed!

This car has been a good purchase except for the clock. Unfortunately, it seems to have a mind of its own and nobody has been able to repair it. Sometimes it says it's 1d:05 and then 5 minutes later it jumps to 2D:56. Maybe it's on Martian time, who knows? But overall, I'm still happy with my purchase!

It seems like there are some issues that need to be addressed with the quality of components used in Toyota vehicles. We understand how frustrating it can be when things don't work as they should, and we want to assure you that we are committed to improving our products. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

For a reliable car for work and running errands, this vehicle is perfect. Although I had to spend around $450 on repairs that I couldn't ignore, it has been worth it.

Hey there! This is my first car and I have to say, my dad did a pretty good job with it. However, after putting about 120K miles on it, some flaws are starting to show. Whenever I come to a stop, there's a loud rattling noise that seems to be coming from the drink holders. Also, the door handles aren't the best - my two back doors need a good slam to shut properly and my driver's side lock is jammed. Plus, my tires don't handle bad weather very well. On the bright side, the AC and heater work great and the sound system just needs a little work. In terms of gas mileage, I drive to and from school and work/the store every week and can go the whole week on a full tank from Monday to Friday. I'm not sure about the exact mileage, but I never really bother to check. Thanks for listening!

In just two and a half years, my Toyota car has unfortunately been quite unreliable. Despite my efforts to keep it running, I have had to replace multiple parts including starters, alternators, batteries, struts, brakes, tie rods, ball joints, and axles. Unfortunately, the electrical system ultimately failed and the car is no longer operational. While this is disappointing, I am confident in my ability to find a more dependable vehicle in the future.
