1992 Toyota Corolla problems
The Toyota Corolla (Japanese: トヨタ・カローラ, Hepburn: Toyota Karōra) is a series of compact cars (formerly subcompact) manufactured and marketed globally by the Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation. Introduced in 1966, the Corolla was the best-selling car worldwide by 1974 and has been one of the best-selling cars in the world since then. In 1997, the Corolla became the best-selling nameplate in the world, surpassing the Volkswagen Beetle. Toyota reached the milestone of 50 million Corollas sold over twelve generations in 2021.
The name Corolla is part of Toyota's naming tradition of using names derived from the Toyota Crown for sedans, with "corolla" Latin for "small crown". The Corolla has always been exclusive in Japan to Toyota Corolla Store locations, and manufactured in Japan with a twin, called the Toyota Sprinter until 2000. From 2006 to 2018 in Japan and much of the world, and from 2018 to 2020 in Taiwan, the hatchback companion had been called the Toyota Auris.
Early models were mostly rear-wheel drive, while later models have been front-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive versions have also been produced, and it has undergone several major redesigns. The Corolla's traditional competitors have been the Nissan Sunny, introduced the same year as the Corolla in Japan and the later Nissan Sentra, Nissan Sylphy, Honda Civic and Mitsubishi Lancer. The Corolla's chassis designation code is "E", as described in Toyota's chassis and engine codes.

Common 1992 Toyota Corolla problems
The Toyota Corolla 1992 is known for its reliability, as demonstrated by the positive experiences shared by several owners. However, like any vehicle, it may encounter specific issues over time. Here are some common problems reported by Corolla 1992 owners:
- Engine Oil Consumption: Some 1992 Toyota Corolla owners have reported excessive oil consumption, which is a common issue in Corolla models from 1998 to 2009. This problem may not be as prevalent in the 1992 model, but it is worth noting.
- Air Pressure and Fog Lights: Some owners have reported issues with tire pressure, fog lights, and daytime running lights. These issues can be related to sensors or mechanical problems with the tires or lighting systems.
- ABS Light Indication: The anti-lock brakes (ABS) light may come on for various reasons, ranging from faulty speed sensors to low brake fluid levels or total brake failure. This issue requires prompt attention to ensure the safety of the vehicle.
- Lane-Keeping Assist: Some Corolla 1992 models may have lane-keeping assist, which helps keep the vehicle in its lane and prevents drifting. While not a problem per se, it is a feature that some owners may find confusing or unfamiliar.
- Power Windows: The non-power window system may be an issue for some owners, as it requires manual operation. However, this is not a mechanical problem but rather a matter of personal preference.
- Body Roll: The 1992 Toyota Corolla is known for its body roll, which can make the vehicle feel unstable during sharp turns or high-speed driving.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Some owners have reported the need for regular maintenance and repairs, such as replacing the engine and repainting the vehicle when it reaches a certain mileage.
- Comfort and Styling: The 1992 Corolla's interior and exterior may appear dated, and the vehicle may not be as comfortable for long-distance road trips as more modern vehicles.
In summary, the Toyota Corolla 1992 has a reputation for reliability and durability, but it may still encounter specific issues related to engine oil consumption, tire pressure, fog lights, and anti-lock brakes. Regular maintenance and repairs may be necessary to ensure the vehicle's longevity and performance.

This car is wonderful. Mine has 177,000 miles and still runs like it did when I bought it almost 5 years ago. It's a great car to get to work or as a starter car. I've even taken my Corolla on long trips and it still hasn't let me down!

My husband and I purchased our Toyota Corolla DX brand new in 1992 and we still have it today, 15 years later. With almost 190,000 miles on the clock, it has been an incredibly reliable car and we just love it! Even with inconsistent maintenance, it has never let us down. Although the body is rusting around the wheel wells, the car still runs like the day we bought it. As much as we cherish this car, we are now looking to buy another Toyota with airbags for added safety. We bought this car when our daughter was in pre-school and now she's in college, so it's become a part of the family! We will be sad to see it go, but we're hopeful that we can find another Toyota that's just as good.

I've owned my 92 Wagon for many years now, and it's been an absolute joy to drive. It's amazing how reliable it is, I've hardly had to put any money into repairs. The only work I've done on it is custom work that I wanted to do, not because I had to. I only had to replace the valve cover gasket once, and that's it. When I first got it, I used it as cheap transportation, but now it's become a project car that I absolutely love. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. It's too bad that Toyota doesn't make cars like this anymore, I really wish they did. I've owned many cars in my life, but none have ever stood out to me like this one. It might sound crazy, but there's just something about it that I love, besides its reliability. The square-bodied Toyotas have always been one of my favorites, and I even love the styling of this car.

She has never left me stranded. The mechanics of my gorgeous 1990 Corolla are the opposite of the 1990 Mercedes 420 SEL handed down to us within our family in 2007. It shut down in the center lane of I-285; the motor went off. It was late at night and I drifted over to the side of the road. Over the years, this Mercedes had major repairs making astronomical hits on my wallet. As for my Corolla, now in Nov 2022, she has only 50k miles. Yup, that's correct, only 50,000 miles and she looks almost like the day I brought this

I bought this car used with 53,000 miles. It now has 247,000 and it still runs great! It has been extremely reliable and gets great gas mileage. I have only needed to do regular maintenance and have not had any major repairs. The only time it doesn't start or run well is when I forget to turn off the lights.

My Corolla has been a great choice for over 4 years, despite some challenges. It has already clocked 340000 km, which is a testament to its durability. While I have had some issues with the exhaust manifold and severe body rust, I have been able to address them effectively. Although it may be sluggish on the highway due to its 3-speed automatic, I am confident in its overall performance and reliability.
