2013 Chevrolet Tahoe problems
The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge-engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs and other trucks from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their "Blazer" and "Jimmy" nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the "Yukon" in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer the "new Blazer," while renaming the full-size Blazer as the "Tahoe." The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States, and was originally used as a trim level on S-10 models. The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.
For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.
The Tahoe has regularly been the best-selling full-size SUV in the United States, frequently outselling its competition by two to one.

Common 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe problems
The Chevrolet Tahoe 2013 is known for several common problems that owners have reported. These issues include cracked dashboards, low oil pressure, and problems with the A/C system.
Cracked Dashboards: One of the most common problems with the Chevrolet Tahoe 2013 is a cracked dashboard. This issue is mostly cosmetic, but it can be an aggravating problem nonetheless. It is worth noting that GM has not fixed this issue, which has affected many Tahoe owners.
Low Oil Pressure: Another severe reliability issue with the Tahoe is low oil pressure. Many drivers have reported that engine performance decreases, and the check engine light illuminates when this problem occurs. Low oil pressure can lead to engine failure, making it a significant concern for Tahoe owners.
A/C System Problems: The A/C system in the Chevrolet Tahoe 2013 is also known to have issues. These problems can be caused by a refrigerant leak, electrical issues, or a faulty A/C compressor. The typical repair job to fix this problem is to replace the broken parts like the compressor or condenser. This issue can be particularly problematic during hot weather, making it a significant concern for Tahoe owners.
In addition to these issues, the Chevrolet Tahoe 2013 has also been known to have problems with its 4WD system. The service 4WD message can appear due to a faulty selector switch or transfer case encoder sensor. This issue can be particularly problematic for Tahoe owners who rely on their vehicle's 4WD system for off-road driving or inclement weather conditions.
The Tahoe's interior accessories have also been known to have issues. Many Tahoe models, except for 1999, have severe defects in their interior accessories, including cracked dashboards, broken door locks, and flashing interior lights. Serious engine problems also plague several Tahoe models, including the 1999, 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2009 models.
Overall, the Chevrolet Tahoe 2013 has several common problems that owners should be aware of. These issues can range from cosmetic concerns to significant reliability issues that can impact the vehicle's safety and performance. Owners of the Tahoe 2013 should be sure to address these issues promptly to ensure their vehicle remains safe and reliable.

POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-05
- VIN: 1GNSKBE09DR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Transmission, vehicle stops functioning without notice on the road while driving acceleration stops. The problem was confirmed to be a transmission failure by chevrolet. The inspection was done by chevrolet to confirm the transmission has failed. The vehicle started to jump when sitting still and the drive train for 2wheel/4whell did stop working it only allowed the vehicle to be moved in 2whell drive. This happened after the vehicle went over 100k miles and when I took it to chevrolet they said nothing was wrong with it, they said "it's an old car". When the car is driven over 35/40mph the vehicle now shakes along with it stopping to function while driving. Even with chevrolet verifying that the transmission is bad(which is the recall on Tahoe models from the same year of production) they refuse to acknowledge it is all models unless it's on a specific list of vin numbers. They refuse to replace the transmission recall at no cost according to the current recall that was done already for this year make and model. I've had all engine tune up maintenance requirements done and have not missed any vehicle scheduled maintenance this vehicle year make and model is on the recall list and I've attached the copy of it to show proof of the record. The record was provided by chevrolet, along with the record of NHTSA recalls to show this is the same year make and model but the vin isn't included, as well as the recalls they listed to show that zero apply to this vehicle when this is clearly the same exact symptoms listed on the recall but this vin isn't listed when it should be if the same exact symptoms are failing on the vehicle with maintenance kept up.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-11-01
- VIN: 1GNSCCE04DR
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that upon start of the vehicle, an abnormal ticking sound was coming from the engine compartment. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact discovered that the oil pressure was low. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the uptake tube O-ring needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER,STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-01
- VIN: 1GNSK4E08DR
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,STRUCTURE
- Summary: The drivers side door handle has broken on my Tahoe. In the event of having to urgently egress from my vehicle it would be very difficult to do so because of the handle. Now before you think I'm just a disgruntled owner you should look at the rate of occurrence. I've checked online nationally and locally with used auto part sellers and there are none to be found. If a Tahoe comes in that actually does have one intact every auto yard has a waiting list of buyers and the part is immediately gone. Shouldn't the high rate of failure of trigger at least questions from the NHTSA. I did not mention the passenger door but since it is of the same construction it would fail too if under the same use I feel. My claim is easy enough to substantiate, place a call to any used car part dealer of your choice and search for the driver's side door interior. If you do find one available, call that dealer and you'll find that it's already gone. Then ask the person on the phone about how many people they get calling for that same part. I've been searching for over a year for this one part. This complaint isn't made because I'm angry, I've simply just finally paid attention to the fact that this is a high failure part and should be investigated.

STRUCTURE PROBLEM

- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: Dash is cracking
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-02-11
- VIN: 1gnscce08dr
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The dash has cracked above the instrument panel in several places. Also it is cracked at the passenger side air bag. This vehicle is well kept. Owned by an older lady, also the front drivers door pull it broken in half. The dealer has informed her that neither have been recalled but, should have been. This is unacceptable being as she paid $68,000.00 dollars for this vehicle. The dealer also informed her that the airbag canister recall when done can crack the dash if it is replaced before the airbag recall is done. And that she would be responsible for the damage done to the plastic dash. Also unacceptable. She is on a fixed income. Vehicle manufacturers charge so much money for these vehicles, they should be forced to recall and replace any part damaged by completing the recall that is not done yet. The dash is not built heavy enough to keep it from cracking. It is built from cheap materials and they charge a mint for it. This is filled out by her mechanic, and it is his email.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-04-01
- VIN: 1GNSKCE00DR
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: A small crack in the dash start in 2018. I always use a sunshade in the windshield. Then it cracked in other places. It's like there is nothing supporting the dash around the speaker. It's now cracked all over. Nothing has been done extra to this Tahoe. It's cleaned regularly inside and out.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-01-12
- VIN: 1GNSK4E06DR
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: Received recall information and have tried to have the vehicle fixed. All the Tampa dealerships in the area do not help. They hang up don't keep appointments and don't return phone calls.
STEERING,SUSPENSION,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-01-12
- VIN: 1gnskbe09dr
- Components: STEERING,SUSPENSION,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Vehicle randomly throws Stabilitrak, Traction control and ABS codes. Engine derates to limp mode. Transmission goes to full line pressure shifts. A cycle of the ignition system will reset the system a majority of the time. There is no "recall" but the general consensus in the mechanical world is two things cause this issue. Throttle body is bad and/or the steering position sensor fails causing the stabilitrak system to be disabled (which in a 2013 Tahoe, stabilitrak cannot be turned off) I have replaced the throttle body with an OEM part and the problem still occurs with our vehicle. It is a big enough of a parts failure/equipment failure that most of my mechanic buddies I've talked to knew exactly what I was talking about and said I replaced these two parts and the problem was solved. May not be enough for a recall but a TSB really should be issued because I've found a lot of information online that a lot of people are having this same issue. Between this website's complaint section and other Chevy/GM forums, I'm estimating 5000-10000 people have had similar issues with the stabilitrak being disabled somehow while driving. Manufacturers need to be held accountable for parts failures like this, as when recalls do finally happen, it is next to impossible to get the vehicle in and repaired in a timely matter (Takata air bag inflator issue is a great example, our local dealer cannot give me an estimated date they can get the vehicle in for repairs because its a mass parts recall and the replacement parts are unavailable) Incident has happened over a dozen times in the past 6 months but the additional details will not let me select multiple dates
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-11-16
- VIN: 1GNSKBE08DR
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: Takata Recall. The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the airbags service light remained illuminated while driving. The contact stated she received notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V054000 (Air Bags) or 21V053000 (Air Bags) at the time the airbag warning light started to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be serviced under the airbag recall however, the airbag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle failure cause was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was advised of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to another dealer for diagnosis. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-01-08
- VIN: 1GNSCBE03DR
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Have a cracked dashboard on the driver side. Started to investigate and noticed panel under steering wheel is broke in multiple places making it not stay secured.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-06-01
- VIN: 1GNSKAE0XDR
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Without warning on several occasions the the gps/radio screen, door locks, lights, gauges, etc start cycling and going crazy and power to the vehicle goes on and off. While the electrical storm is happening I can press the gas pedal which only causes the car to sputter and lurch forward. It has occurred suddenly while pulling into traffic or while traveling on the highway at normal speeds. I have contacted GM and was told there are no recalls open. After researching on my own there are several forums with countless complaints of the same nature. To state the obvious...this is dangerous and the fact that GM is aware and continues to ignore the problem is highly unethical and unsettling.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM

Love it! Your new Tahoe is the best looking one Chevy has ever made and it's fun to drive. I used to be a Ford guy, but my Tahoe makes the Expeditions look ugly. With more power than I need, I can get the kids to grandma's house in a hurry, without a doubt! I bought a black one and it looks awesome. I highly recommend it. It runs like a champ, smooth and quiet, with all the extras I need. And the best part? I bought an ls model! Simply love it!

I've owned two Tahoe models, a 2007 LT and a 2010 LT, and I really like both of them. I traded in my 2007 because I wanted a white one instead of the grey one I had. My new one is white and I love it! The features on my 2010 model are great and I get excellent gas mileage, averaging 19.3 MPG in the city and on the highway combined, and 23-25 MPG on the highway. I do drive the posted speed limit, which is probably why I get such good gas mileage. For those who complain about poor gas mileage, I suggest slowing down, something that can be difficult for many people. I used to own an 05 Toyota Sequoia, but it was a piece of junk. I traded it in for my 07 Tahoe and never looked back.

This car is really solid. It can plow through ten inches of snow on my driveway and holds the road like a mack truck. I love my Tahoe, but the only problem is ongoing air conditioning issues. I've spent a lot of money and it’s still not working properly.

My wife and I recently leased a 2011 Tahoe LT 4X4, which we chose to replace our 2006 Grand Cherokee Limited (w/ Hemi) due to our expanding family. We needed an SUV with more room and the Tahoe fit the bill perfectly. The exterior styling is awesome and the powertrain seems very good. We opted for the 20-inch wheels as part of the Luxury Package, which really adds to the styling. The ride on this SUV is excellent and I cannot wait to take it on a long trip. I do have a few suggestions for interior tweaks, such as adding storage 'bins' on the sides of the truck area and a coin holder in the console (it's surprising that a $50k SUV does not have a coin holder), as well as a larger rear-view mirror.

I bought my car with 55,000 miles on it and a cracked dash. When I asked the dealer about it, they said that it's a common issue with these trucks. However, I decided to do some research and found out that a new dash would cost $650 in Texas. Luckily, my local dealership was willing to replace it for free, even though my truck was out of warranty. Unfortunately, not all owners have been as fortunate. There is a Facebook page and class action lawsuit dedicated to the issue of GM's unwillingness to acknowledge the defect in the 07-13 dashes. The cracks always appear behind the instrument panel and in the upper left-hand side of the airbag compartment. I hope that GM will do the right thing and recall these dashes, as this will be my last Tahoe until they do.
