2007 Chevrolet Tahoe problems

The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge-engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs and other trucks from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their "Blazer" and "Jimmy" nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the "Yukon" in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer the "new Blazer," while renaming the full-size Blazer as the "Tahoe." The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States, and was originally used as a trim level on S-10 models. The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.
For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.
The Tahoe has regularly been the best-selling full-size SUV in the United States, frequently outselling its competition by two to one.

Common 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe problems
The 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. These issues range from engine problems to dashboard cracking and excessive oil consumption.
One of the most severe and expensive problems reported is related to the engine. Many 2007 Chevy Tahoe owners have experienced engine knocking or pinging noises, which typically occur around 80,000 miles. This issue requires a brand-new engine, which can cost approximately $3,300 to fix.
Another significant issue with the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe is the dashboard cracking. This problem is more common and severe than the engine issues, with cracks appearing on the dashboard around 70,000 miles. Although the repair cost is relatively low, around $210, the frequency and severity of this issue have earned it the title of the worst problem on the 2007 Tahoe by Car Complaints.
The 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe has also been associated with excessive oil consumption, particularly in the 5.3-liter Flex Fuel V8 due to the Active Fuel Management (AFM) system and the PCV valve in the valve cover. This system was designed to save gas during low power output, but it can cause the engine to consume more oil. Replacing the valve cover and gasket can fix the issue, but completely deactivating the AFM system may be necessary for a more permanent solution
Additionally, the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe has experienced issues with the AC blend door, fuel pump, leaking exhaust manifold, evap code, daytime running light, and black plastics fading. These problems can affect the overall functionality and appearance of the vehicle, and some of them can be quite expensive to fix
In summary, the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe has several common problems, including engine issues, dashboard cracking, excessive oil consumption, and various other mechanical and cosmetic problems. These issues can be costly and frequent, affecting the overall reliability and satisfaction of the vehicle's owners.

- Summary: Have owned the vehicle since new. For a long time I had been "topping off" the brake fluid in the master cylinder. Finally got a message on the dash telling me to "service brakes soon" that would come and go. Eventually made it to our local Chevrolet dealer while the message was displayed for diagnostic purposes. Was told code "C0299" was found regarding brake booster pressure sensor performance. Vehicle was repaired by replacing the master cylinder and hydraulic brake booster. A large amount of brake fluid was found inside the booster upon disassembly. Obviously had been leaking brake fluid from the master cylinder into the brake booster for a long time. Saw that Ford had a recent recall for a similar problem and I thought it was worth reporting. I retained both the master cylinder and brake booster for inspection if needed. Fortunately no incidents occurred due to this part failure before replacement.

I have heard many complaints and and worries from others that feel it can catch on fire and would be a dangerous distraction driving the freeway while it starts to melt it is a strong obnoxious fume and smells like it an catch fire. STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-01-04
- VIN: 1GNFC13007R
- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: My dashboard is severely cracked, I called GM to order a new dashboard and they don't have the parts. First this shouldn't happen, GM should own up to the issue and create a part that doesn't have the issue. Second they don't even have the existing part to fix the issue. I called a local dealership (Simi Valley Chevrolet) who wouldn't even give me the part numbers as they said it was against their policy to not give out part numbers. I don't know how a consumer is supposed to fix their vehicle with manufacturer who doesn't make a part any longer and a dealer who doesn't give the information to find another one.

My most recent car was a Mercedes and my wife has a BMW. However, I must say that the drive quality of the Tahoe is much better. It is solid with zero rattles and a powerful engine. The interior is luxurious and passengers feel like they are sitting in first class aboard a 747. Additionally, the Tahoe looks much better than the competition and truly stands out as most cars look the same these days.

This is the first American vehicle that I've purchased. So far everything is working fine. I'm really glad that I chose this car because I love the new body design and it's incredibly comfortable to drive. The vehicle drives smaller than it looks, which makes it really easy to park. I'm also happy to report that the gas mileage is averaging at 15.5mpg around town.

This truck seems to have a preference for oil and oil consumption. However, adding Lucas to every oil change can help prevent over oil consumption and avoid major problems. While there are a few complaints such as the cheap plastic dashboard, poor quality control buttons, electronic throttle body control, and rough gear changes under hard acceleration, the truck is still decent and reliable. When coming to slightly hard stops, there may be some clunking and popping around the body of the truck, but it is unclear what causes this. The biggest issue is that the GM paint does not hold up well at all, even with regular hand washing and waxing. On the bright side, the gas mileage is good for an American full-size SUV with a reliable 5.3L V8 engine. With a light foot, it is possible to average 19.2 MPG combined on premium fuel. The vehicle was purchased used from Honda of Rock Hill SC for 23K when it had 79,389 miles on the odometer.

I'm so glad to hear that you've had such a positive experience with your 2007 LTZ 4wd! It's great to hear that it has been so reliable for you, even with all the mileage you've put on it. It sounds like you take good care of it with regular maintenance, which is so important. Keep up the good work and happy driving!

This vehicle has been driven for 45000 miles and still runs great. It has excellent road manners despite its large and heavy build. The engine is strong and the vehicle feels solid. Even when fully loaded with people, gear, and a 4500LB boat attached, it hardly breaks a sweat on road trips over flat to hilly terrain. It is very sure-footed in all seasons, including snow and ice, even with factory tires close to replacement. GM has made great strides in closing the gap with foreign automakers with greatly improved interior design and looks. However, there is still work to be done as many surface finishes and materials (inside and out) do not do this vehicle justice. Although the 07 Tahoe looks high quality, cost-cutting is evident up close.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2008 Tahoe. As someone who has always driven Suburbans or Tahoes, I was excited to get this car. However, I have had some issues with it. The interior started to show wear and tear after only 6 months, with peeling door handles and broken seat belts. Additionally, the lights flicker on and off, the air conditioner stopped blowing, and the CD player works intermittently. On the outside, the cargo came off mid-drive and had to be remounted, and the daytime running light has had to be replaced numerous times. I've even noticed other Tahoe owners with the same issue. I took it back to the dealership within the first month of owning it and spent $2500 on an emission problem, which was supposed to be covered by warranty but wasn't. As a single mother of three, I need a reliable car, and while this Tahoe has performed for me, it hasn't been up to the standard I'm used to with these vehicles. I've had to take it to the shop so much that I decided to get my own mechanic to save on costs. Despite all of this, I still love Tahoes and Suburbans, and I'm not sure if it's just this year or what, because my last one was a workhorse that lasted over 259,000 miles. Thank you for listening to my experience.I'm really disappointed that I can't trade in my car because the dealership is now saying it isn't worth anything. If I decide to get another vehicle, I'll probably lease it and choose a different SUV. It's a shame because I've always loved my other Chevy SUV, but it seems like this is becoming a common issue with their cars.

Our Tahoe has been with us since new and has clocked 134,000 miles with ease. While we have faced some challenges, we have always been able to overcome them with confidence. We have had to deal with oil consumption, TPS sensor issues, check engine light, airbag light, backup sensors and camera malfunction, and even a wheel bearing failure that left us stranded in a poor part of Cleveland at night in the winter. However, we have always been able to handle these issues with ease. We even faced a major electrical failure (fuse box) that caused the battery to drain, but we were able to resolve it with confidence. Currently, it is in the shop for a fuel leak, power steering pump and air conditioning issues, but we are confident that we will be able to get it back on the road soon. While we have spent some money on repairs, we are confident that our Tahoe is still a reliable vehicle that we can trust for short trips. It is worth noting that we also bought a Lexus at the same time, which has clocked 231,000 miles with no issues.

I understand that I purchased this SUV used from a private party in USED conditions. I bought this truck about 2 months ago with 180,000 miles on it and it currently has 186,000 miles on the dash as of yesterday. As this is my first SUV and Chevy, I was hesitant on getting it in the first place. Unfortunately, every light on the dash has come on one time or another, including the check engine light and Stabilitrak light flashing randomly while driving down the highway last night. After researching the issue, I found that there could be a number of causes, from loose wires to a bad battery, fuel module, or sensor on the brake pedal for the cruise control. I also noticed that several things stopped working in the last month, such as the driver's side running light, the rear hatch and glass not opening when you push the button, the air shock system, and the TPS on both front tires. The air bag sensor isn't working either. I'm learning that I'm not the only one with these issues, and it's frustrating. I drove Ford trucks before this and was giving Chevy a chance, but unfortunately, I'm disappointed with my experience. I'm going to have to put it up for sale, take a 2 grand loss, and go find another Ford truck. While I'm sure there are many satisfied Chevy owners out there, I personally will never buy another Chevrolet again as long as I'm alive. If you're considering purchasing a 2007 Chevy Tahoe, I would advise you to save your money and time and look elsewhere.

I purchased my Tahoe in December 2006, and unfortunately, it has experienced several issues since then. Despite having it serviced twice in the past, the 'Stabilitrack' message still appears on the panel, and the SUV's speed suddenly drops to 15 mph and doesn't go past 45 mph. Additionally, the door chrome handle has peeled off twice, and the steering wheel has completely peeled. Other issues include the seat belt casing falling off the back seat, the dashboard cracking in three places, the paint on the trim fading a few months after purchase, and the rear defrost wire becoming unsoldered. Although the battery has been replaced twice, it may simply use a lot of electricity. Overall, I am dissatisfied with this vehicle and will not be purchasing another Chevy in the future.

This car is outstanding in many ways, but there are some engineering downsides to consider. Firstly, the interior is filled with cheap plastic that tends to crack easily. Secondly, the car's brakes wear out quickly, similar to a race car. Lastly, in the 2006 model and up to the present, there is a defect in the engine that causes oil to seep into the cylinder and get burned up. While this may not sound too bad at first, it can lead to the car using up oil in between oil changes. The only way to fix this issue is to buy new pistons or a new engine. In my experience, my car uses up to 2 quarts of oil in between oil changes (3000 miles).
