2019 Chevrolet Tahoe problems
The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge-engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs and other trucks from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their "Blazer" and "Jimmy" nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the "Yukon" in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer the "new Blazer," while renaming the full-size Blazer as the "Tahoe." The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States, and was originally used as a trim level on S-10 models. The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.
For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.
The Tahoe has regularly been the best-selling full-size SUV in the United States, frequently outselling its competition by two to one.

Common 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe problems
Based on complaints from owners of the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe, several common problems have been reported:
- Defective Engine Lifters:
- V-8 engines in Chevy Tahoes have experienced faulty lifters leading to potential engine failure. Symptoms include ticking noises, misfires, loss of power, and total engine failure. This issue has been noted in models from 2014 to 2023.
- Dirty Throttle Body:
- The throttle body in the Chevy Tahoe can accumulate carbon deposits over time, affecting airflow into the engine. This buildup can result in rough idling, low performance, and stalling. Regular maintenance with a carburetor cleaner is recommended to prevent this issue.
- Failed ABS Systems:
- Owners have reported malfunctions with the anti-lock braking system (ABS), causing warning lights or unexpected locking. Recalls have been issued for various model years due to ABS system corrosion and missing push-rod retainers.
- Cracked Dashboards:
- Models from 2007 to 2013 have been prone to dashboard cracks due to design flaws and exposure to sunlight. While this issue doesn't directly impact performance, it affects the vehicle's visual appeal.
These problems highlight some of the key issues faced by owners of the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe, ranging from electronic glitches to more serious engine and safety concerns.

- Summary: In March of 2023, my 2019 Chevy Tahoe began having episodes where while driving there would be no gas power. The needle on the speedometer would start dropping to zero and the truck would sound like it was in neutral without notice putting everyon in the vehicle and outside of the vehicle at risk. My kids travel long distance for their AAA sports. Then all of a sudden there would be a loud noise (sound like hitting a rock with a sledge hammer) and you would feel the jarring noise and it would engage again. It was taken into the dealer and they found nothing wrong with it, couldn't duplicate the problem. This was at approximately 128,000 miles. On and off it happened all from March through April 2023 without notice, on the expressway traveling at 70 mph and having no control over the speed of the vehicle. In April, it became more apparent that when you hit 50 mph and 70 mph it was happening on cue, at 130,000 miles. Took it to the dealer again in April 2023, gave them the information and all they told me was that it was the transmission, $12,000 and it would be $500 to just take it apart to confirm, no error code was scanning and if I wanted to trade it in they would get a sales person. I spoke with the sales person who couldn't help because the balance on the loan is $28,000. Went back to the sales to get the car and a different service person helped me and couldn't find the truck. The truck had never been entered into anything in the service department. I took the truck home and it has sat in my driveway. It is a shame that you purchase a $70,000 vehicle and cannot get quality service from the dealer and a vehicle that doesn't make it past 130,000 miles. We have a 2013 Ford Edge that has 358,000 miles on it. What does that say about Chevy currently? Currently I have been starting the vehicle and driving it down my block and back daily to keep it from deteriorating, it cannot go over 20 mph without the gas power failing. I am hoping someone can help.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-06
- VIN: 1GNSKBKC7KR
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: the vehicles have a serious defect that causes the air conditioning systems to crack and leak refrigerant, lose pressure, and fail to function properly to provide cooled air into the vehicles. These failures lead owners and lessees to incur significant costs for repair, often successive repairs as the repaired parts prove defective as well. As summer temperatures in many regions soar into triple digits, this leaves Escalade, Sierra, Suburban, Tahoe, Silverado, Sierra and Yukon owners with vehicles they say are undriveable due to concerns about child, pet, and driver safety. I would hope GM will cover this AC problem since I am just outside of my certified warranty and have kept up with all maintenance requirements per manual. See link below that I have found to be a common problem with the condenser. I am not a happy customer here, definitely deters me from buying another Chevy/GMC if GM does not cover the cost under warranty. Per link below you have to constantly contact GM to argue this common problem to get them to agree to cover it. I had it diagnosed by Hoselton Fairport NY last Tuesday, they wanted $400 just to touch my AC to start the diagnosis and to put a $40 can of Freon in it. It didn’t hold after 3 days. I had my brakes done. 2019 Chevy Tahoe. Also lawsuits going on about faulty condenser. If anyone else has this issue I would definitely suggest contacting GM CS before forking over $1200+. 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 1 recalls for different components of the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
- Consequence: Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

Purchased it. Beautiful. Glad you decided to purchase. It looks and runs like a new vehicle.

Our used Tahoe with 70k miles 2019 midnight edition has been great so far, except for the battery going out a week after purchase. Unfortunately, it wasn't covered under warranty.
-
This is a great family or all-purpose vehicle. I love the room and storage capacity. However, the loading height is a little too high, which makes it more difficult than other SUVs. The gas mileage and turning radius are what I expected for a large SUV.
-
It's great to hear that you've had such a positive experience with your vehicle! If you're ever in the market for another one, I hope you're able to find one that meets your needs.
-
It's great to hear that you're enjoying the fuel economy of your big vehicle! It's also wonderful to hear that it's peppy around town and comfortable at high speeds. It's great to know that you haven't had any problems with it in the 35k miles you've driven so far.

I will never purchase a Chevy again, as my first experience was also my last.
Jamey Emmerich 2024-10-21
Our 2018 Tahoe, while comfortable and decent on gas mileage, required the replacement of the AC condenser and battery after just 43,000 miles. Although this was disappointing, we made the confident decision to trade it in shortly after the repairs were made. We prioritize reliability in our SUVs and did not want to risk any potential long-term issues.
Blaze Medhurst 2024-09-28
General Motors must be held accountable for the faulty fuel management system that damaged your engine. As a customer, you deserve better treatment and prompt resolution of your issues. It is unacceptable that General Motors gave you the runaround for almost 4 months and then refused to reimburse your costs. Your safety and satisfaction should be their top priority. I urge General Motors to take responsibility for their mistakes and provide you with the compensation and support you deserve.
Julio Stanton 2024-08-29
I am extremely confident in my assessment that this Chevy Tahoe is not up to par. Despite purchasing a 2018 Premier Tahoe with only 4500 miles, I have been experiencing a buzzing noise since the third month of ownership. Despite taking it to multiple dealerships, the issue has not been resolved. Interestingly, the noise seems to disappear when the air is turned off. I am curious if anyone else has experienced this issue. Unfortunately, I paid a significant amount for this vehicle and have not been satisfied with the ride quality. Although the blower has been replaced, I am concerned about the possibility of future breakdowns. Overall, this has been my worst car purchase to date.
Gage Miller 2024-06-10
At 65,000 miles on my 2019, the torque converter failed and sent metal debris throughout the transmission. As a result, I had to replace the entire transmission at a cost of around $6,000. Earlier this year, the bypass HMI bypass module also required replacement, which cost over $600.00.
