For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. - Summary: While barely moving, (about 2 mph), in a parking lot & preparing to make a sharp left turn, knuckle of driver's side wheel assembly suddenly broke, causing the wheel assembly to collapse, wheel top tilted inward and bottom tilted outward, causing major damage to upper and lower control arms, tie rod and significant body damage to two body parts at the wheel opening. Mechanic reported that there had been very excessive ‘play’ before the collapse At 86,000 miles, this is a very low-mileage for this degree of wear and complete failure, on a full-size, PPV SUV, with many heavy-duty features, designed to tolerate high stress usage. FORTUATELY, the car was barely rolling. If this had happened 5 minutes later, I would have been driving 65 mph and this would have caused a catastrophic wreck, could have involved several other cars, and could have injured or even killed many people. I am now very concerned about the condition of the knuckle on the passenger side. It could be developing microscopic cracks that would only be observable with X-ray. ESPECIALLY with this defect being on a very popular police model, Highway Patrol PPV vehicle, more failures will endanger many people.

- Summary: The vehicle was involved in a "T-Bone" collision where two vehicles drove into the driver side of my vehicle. I was not at fault and yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. In February of 2022 I took the vehicle to Felix Chevrolet to have the airbag recall repaired. In late January 2023, the "T-Bone" collision occurred. My elderly mother (front passenger) and my two sons (13 and 14 rear passengers) were also in the vehicle. ZERO airbags deployed in my vehicle. The vehicle has been parked at my residence since the incident. The vehicle or component has NOT been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others since the incident. I noticed the dash cracking after the recall was performed in 2022. I contacted Felix Chevrolet and spoke the Asst Manager Sergio who told me that GM is NOT replacing the cracked dash boards and if I could take a photo and text it to him--which I did.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 3 recalls for different components of the 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe.

- Summary: General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2012 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Silverado 2500/3500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Sierra 2500/3500, Yukon, and Yukon XL originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands or "Zone A." These vehicles are equipped with non-desiccated passenger frontal inflators containing phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator with an alternate one, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on February 22, 2021. Second notification letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 11, 2021. Additionally GM is recalling certain 2011-2014 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 2500, Sierra 3500, Yukon, Yukon XL and 2011-2013 Cadillac Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of AZ, AR, DE, DC, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MO, NE, NV, NJ, NM, NC, OH, OK, PA, TN, VA, and WV or "Zone B." Additionally, GM is recalling certain 2010-2014 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 2500, Sierra 3500, Yukon, and Yukon XL and 2010-2013 Cadillac Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in the states of AK, CO, CT, ID, IA, ME, MA, MI, MN, MT, NH, NY, ND, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, WA, WI, and WY or "Zone C." These vehicles are equipped with non-desiccated passenger frontal inflators containing phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator with an alternate one, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on February 25, 2021. Second notification letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. Owner notification letters were mailed to 40 VIN owners on May 11, 2021. A second owner notification letter was mailed to all other owners on January 24, 2022. - Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado HD, Silverado LD, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra LD, Sierra HD, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the ignition lock actuator may bind, making turning the key difficult or causing the ignition to get stuck in the "Start" position.
- Consequence: If stuck in the "Start" position, the ignition may suddenly snap back into the "Accessory" position, causing a loss of engine, steering, and braking power, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. If the vehicle is in a crash, the air bags may not deploy, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the ignition lock housing, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on February 12, 2015. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14696 for the original equipment, and 14912 for the service replacement parts.

You can count on a reliable and comfortable ride. Although the auto mirrors only lasted about 4 years, that's the only fault we could find.

I drove this vehicle for a little less than a year and I must say, it was an absolute pleasure. I purchased it with 26k miles and traded it in with 60k, and throughout that time, it never let me down. The truck got reasonable gas mileage for its size and was incredibly reliable. I never had a single issue with it, and the stock tires were still in great condition when I traded it in, with probably another 10k miles left in them. I even towed a 5k lb boat/trailer with ease. I highly recommend buying one!!

There are many features inside this 2012 Tahoe that you'll want to know about. It's an excellent car for families and travelling, and it performs exceptionally well with E85 fuel, giving you more miles for your money.

This vehicle is a great choice for transporting several passengers. It is safe and secure, although the fuel mileage could be better.

I purchased a Tahoe on February 13, 2010, but it immediately developed a vibration that made driving uncomfortable. Despite the dealer having it more than me, the problem remains unresolved. However, I am confident that the issue will be resolved soon and I will be able to enjoy my Tahoe to the fullest. While I had considered purchasing a Nissan Pathfinder, I am glad that I chose the Tahoe and I am confident that it will provide me with a great driving experience.

I bought my car with 55,000 miles on it and a cracked dash. When I asked the dealer about it, they said that it's a common issue with these trucks. However, I decided to do some research and found out that a new dash would cost $650 in Texas. Luckily, my local dealership was willing to replace it for free, even though my truck was out of warranty. Unfortunately, not all owners have been as fortunate. There is a Facebook page and class action lawsuit dedicated to the issue of GM's unwillingness to acknowledge the defect in the 07-13 dashes. The cracks always appear behind the instrument panel and in the upper left-hand side of the airbag compartment. I hope that GM will do the right thing and recall these dashes, as this will be my last Tahoe until they do.

We have owned four Chevy Tahoes, with the previous one being a 2004 LTZ. While I loved most everything about our 2004, the 2012 model has been a bit of a love-hate relationship. On the positive side, the body style is very sharp looking, and very little metal is visible. However, there is a lot of plastic, which didn't hold up very well in a front-end collision a year after getting the vehicle. Luckily, it cost us next to nothing to fix it all, since we were found not-at-fault. This particular iteration of the Tahoe is also a great towing vehicle, powering up the mountain passes while towing our trailer with little trouble. Within the first two years, the navigation and entertainment console died and had to be replaced, but that was covered under warranty. The kids love the rear entertainment system. Although the fuel economy is not great, it did very well on our 2k mile camping trip a couple summers ago, both in gas mileage and reliability. Overall, the Tahoe has been a reliable and enjoyable vehicle for our family.

My 2010 Tahoe began experiencing issues at just 3500 miles. Despite having 100 malfunction codes, Alexandria Chevy initially denied any problems. Despite returning the vehicle multiple times, the dealership has been unable to resolve the issues. The car has experienced a range of problems, including issues with the oil pressure gauge, dash, doors, radio, and brakes. As the car only has 9000 miles on it, I am confident that these issues are not due to normal wear and tear.
