The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge-engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs and other trucks from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their "Blazer" and "Jimmy" nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the "Yukon" in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer the "new Blazer," while renaming the full-size Blazer as the "Tahoe." The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States, and was originally used as a trim level on S-10 models. The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.

For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.

The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.

The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.

SINCE IT WAS A RECENTLY PURCHASED VEHICLE AND WE DIDN'T KNOW THE HISTORY OF WORK PERFORMED WE THOUGHT THIS WAS POSSIBLY THE ISSUE. AFTER DRIVING ANOTHER 50 MILES OR SO THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN FOR THE SECOND TIME. THIS TIME MY FAMILY AND I WERE ON THE WAY TO THE STATE FAIR. I CRAWLED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND FOUND ONE LINE TO BE COMPLETELY RUPTURED AND ALL OTHERS TO BE SEVERELY RUSTED. I NOW PLAN TO REPLACE ALL BRAKE LINES BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS USED AGAIN. THERE ARE EVEN VIDEOS BY DRIVERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS I HAVE EXPERIENCED: THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. AFTER WAITING ANYWHERE FROM 10 MINUTES TO OVER AN HOUR AND CONTINUOUSLY TRYING, THE VEHICLES WILL START LIKE NOTHING WAS WRONG. MOST RECENTLY A NEW TRANSMISSION AFTER IT WENT OUT ON US TOWING A SMALL TRAILER WITH A TOW PACKAGE THAT COULDN'T TOW. WE'VE DUMPED ENOUGH MONEY INTO THIS TRUCK TO HAVE PURCHASED ANOTHER TRUCK BRAND NEW. ON 3/28/16 THE TRUCK SPONTANIOUSLY CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED DOWN WHILE UNOCCUPIED AND PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. TO ADD TO THE HARDSHIP WE HAD JUST REDUCED THE INSURANCE TO LIABILITY AFTER CARRYING FULL COVERAGE FOR THE PAST 15 YRS. THE TRUCK IS A TOTAL LOSS AND NOW WE ARE WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION!! These reviews are limited to 700 words, so I can't explain all the faults. Suffice it to say, I've had enough trouble to invoke the lemon law only to find my truck was just average.

    The car has great power, a smooth ride, and plenty of space! I've also been getting good gas mileage, averaging between 18-20.5 mpg. However, I was a bit disappointed with the interior. The fabric on the cushions of my seats wasn't sewn well at all. Additionally, after riding in a Toyota Sequoia, I realized how small and relatively uncomfortable the Tahoe back seat is. Despite its weight and wide tires (265/70 R16), it can get blown around in the wind. When there's a substantial side-wind, there are a lot of leaks in the door and along the floor. Lastly, the bench seat option doesn't have a good range of adjustments for the seats, which might make it difficult for shorter drivers. For reference, I'm 6'1

    I'm happy to report that my Tahoe has travelled over 240,000 miles without any mechanical or electronic issues. The only downside is that GM discontinued analog Onstar in 2004, which is a shame. However, this vehicle has proven to be incredibly reliable, with zero problems and no stranded or unsatisfied drivers. It's clear to me that GM can compete with, if not surpass, foreign automakers in terms of reliability. I hope more people will consider buying GM instead of foreign brands. Despite its age, my Tahoe still looks, drives, and rides great. I have complete confidence that it will easily reach 300,000 or even 500,000 miles. In my experience, domestic vehicles are just as reliable as foreign automakers claim, and I have the physical evidence to back it up. I absolutely love my Tahoe!

    It's great to see people sharing their experiences with their vehicles! I've been a proud owner of my Tahoe for 6 years now and I can confidently say that I will never sell it. It's impressive how it pulls almost 9,000lbs with ease and I've had ZERO repairs, only maintenance. The ride is surprisingly smooth and it feels like driving a car on the highway. The power is awesome and the Vortec engines are bulletproof. With the AUTO 4wd, the transmission is strong and reliable. I average 75 on CA freeways and the mileage is normal. The only thing that I miss is my Onstar feature, which was unfortunately canceled a couple of years ago by GM with no opportunity to upgrade, even if I paid for it. Nonetheless, this is one of the best vehicles I've ever owned!

    In 2002, I purchased my first big rig - a 4WD 5.3L LT with Autoride suspension. It came loaded with all the bells and whistles, except for the sunroof which I didn't really care for. I have to say, it has surpassed my expectations! The exterior styling is conservative, yet looks good. The gas mileage is impressive for an engine this size, and the Autoride is a big plus when it comes to towing. After the first two weeks of owning it, I replaced the original tires and wheels, and now it looks better than ever. So far, I haven't had any problems with it.
