The Chrysler PT Cruiser is a compact car that was built by the American company Chrysler from 2001 until 2010. Introduced as a five-door hatchback wagon, a two-door convertible variant was also made from 2005 until 2008.
Originally planned as a Plymouth model, the PT Cruiser was ultimately marketed as a Chrysler when Plymouth was discontinued. Intended to invoke 1930s aesthetics, the exterior of the PT Cruiser was designed by Bryan Nesbitt. The model received an intermediate facelift for the 2006 model year. Interior packaging was noted for its high roof, high h-point seating, and flexible cargo and passenger configurations enabled by a multi-level rear cargo shelf and rear seats a user could fold, tumble, or remove.
The PT Cruiser was produced in Mexico and Austria at the Toluca Car Assembly and Eurostar Automobilwerk factories. By the end of production in July 2010, worldwide production had reached 1.35 million.
In its nameplate, PT stands for "Personal Transport" or "Personal Transportation". PT was the PT Cruiser's product code for the Mexican-made units.

- Summary: I purchased the 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser on 1/10/2024. I learned that the Chrysler Dealership does not make keys for the vehicle when locked out, nor does it Service the vehicle. They will "address" a Recall Notice and will do an oil change and will do an inspection only. Chrysler Dealership told me to "Come back tomorrow" when a Recall Notice was issued and they said it was not Safety Related, however a Power Steering Pressure Hose was found to be leaking/exploding oil and this IS a safety related issue. I was rear ended 1/23/24 with 2 dogs in the car. I did not purchase Uninsured Motorists Insurance because I thought under CA State Law that I was legally compliant with insurance I had purchased. I thought between two cars in a potential accident, one had to be able to cover fault for any reason if not both equally. I was told by my Insurance to go after the other Man's Insurance, even if he was not the driver and this did not seem right. The other Man's Insurance Policy had lapsed and I was told there is no coverage for being rear ended. The man said I hit him and said something about "not seeing" the light or turn signal which I demonstrated for functionality. Vehicle has been given different assessments and inspections from 1/10 when purchased to present. I paid $500 at one AAA ASE Facility and $15,000 out of Retirment plus hotel for 3 weeks for the vehicle "dying" and the problem cannot be identified. Car is doing weird things mechanically and no one can locate the problem. There is unaddressed Body Damage where the Rear Left Light (plastic and housing) broke. The vehicle has to have body repair and a new light ordered at a cost greater than what is available through an Auto Dismantler. Chrysler does not make parts for this vehicle. There was rust and corrosion in coolant and metal found in Transmission. I paid full price for a used Transmission. I need someone to review traffic footage to determine when the window went down and dog went out and why

- Summary: I'm driving along, cruise set to 65. Ac on. Radio on. No sounds or weird feels from the car. Every light on the dash comes on. They went off after two seconds, with the seatbelt light being last to shut off. Then the car hits 113k miles about ten miles later and just... shuts off. All gauges drop to zero. Ac shuts off. Radio still playing. Full tank of gas. Headlights still on, brakes worked, power steering worked, and emergency flashers worked. I managed to get out of traffic and pull over without causing an accident. I turn the radio off and turn the key off for a few minutes. It cranked right back up and ran a little rough for a moment before smoothing out. I drove home without incident, but kept the radio and cruise off. And stayed under 65. Thankfully, traffic was light. The car has not been fixed as of this posting, nor has it been seen by anyone due to the weekend. Unsure of when I can get it fixed due to finances, but if this happens in heavy traffic or on one of many roads with no shoulder, lives will be at risk.

My wife's old Jag recently stopped working and we decided to replace it with an SUV/CUV. We came across this PT online with only 16K miles for $10.6K. It's the Touring model, which includes a nicer interior and more standard content, including some lovely alloys. While it may not be the fastest car out there and the gas mileage could be better, my wife is happy with it and it has proven to be reliable so far. As they say, happy wife, happy life!

Hey there! I have the dream cruiser. It's a bit unusual, but I've gotten used to rolling up my front and rear windows on the dashboard. When I need some power, I speed around other cars and leave them in the dust. It's so much fun to drive, especially around curves. The mileage isn't the best, but that's to be expected from a car with a turbo. It gives me great performance though! If you're looking for something with better mileage, you might want to consider other options.

I've put 30,000 miles on my PT convertible in 18 months and have yet to return to the dealer with problems. It's such a fun car and also very functional for a convertible. You can comfortably fit four people and flip the rear seats down for long cargo. Although, the trunk lid can be a bit of an issue as you have to nearly stand on your head to access it. Overall, I absolutely love this car!

Fun to drive and quick to pass. 60 to 80 is a kick. The Turbo is definitely worth the money. The car is very flexible with rear seats that fold, flip and fold or remove, and it can comfortably seat 4 adults. I do wish it was a little wider, but overall it has been very reliable. I really like the AutoStick, which allows you to take off in 2nd gear in snowy weather for better control.

I misunderstood the information about the PT Cruiser being a mid-sized car for 2010 and misjudged the vehicles it was compared to. I purchased a 2010 model with a $2000 discount, accepting the only available color, black. However, I realized that it is actually a compact car, not a mid-sized one. I have filled the gas tank twice and have only driven 300 miles, despite the fact that it has a 15-gallon tank. I was expecting it to get 26 mpg, as I was told and read. However, my previous car, a 1996 Buick Regal with a V6 3800 motor and 200,300 miles on it, got 26 miles to a gallon, if not more. I am disappointed with my purchase and would like to have my old car back.

Hello again! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to update you on my car troubles. Unfortunately, after picking up my car from the mechanic, I noticed a thumping noise coming from the front right. It turns out that the right front motor mount was the culprit! While Chrysler recommends pulling the engine to replace the mount, my mechanic was able to fix it without doing so. The cost was $700 this time. Interestingly, my mechanic found that only 2 out of 4 bolts were holding the mount on, which caused it to break. Additionally, he discovered that only 2 out of 4 bolts were on the power steering pump, despite the car only having 27K miles! I'll keep you updated on any further developments. Although this car had some issues, it provided ample interior space and was able to transport a lot of items. The gas mileage could have been better, but overall it was a decent vehicle. It's unfortunate that the value depreciated so quickly, but that doesn't detract from the positive aspects of the car.
