Chrysler Town and country problems

The Chrysler Town & Country is a minivan that was manufactured and marketed by Chrysler from 1990 to the 2016 model years. The third Chrysler minivan introduced in North America, the Town & Country adopted its nameplate from the flagship Chrysler station wagon line, adopting its exterior woodgrain trim as a design feature for several generations.
Marketed as the flagship of the Chrysler minivan line, five generations of the Town & Country were slotted above the extended-wheelbase Dodge Grand Caravan and Plymouth Grand Voyager. For 2017, Chrysler retired the nameplate, with sixth-generation Chrysler-division minivans becoming the Chrysler Pacifica. After the 2016 model year, Chrysler marked the sale of its 12 millionth minivan (under all three nameplates). Produced almost continuously for 75 years (with the exception of World War II and 1989), the Town & Country nameplate is the longest-produced Chrysler; its longevity is second only to the Chevrolet Suburban in worldwide automotive history.
Chrysler assembled the first three generations of the model line in its Saint Louis Assembly facility (Fenton, Missouri). The fourth and fifth-generation Town & Country were produced by Chrysler Canada by Windsor Assembly (Windsor, Ontario).

Vehicle year: 2016
I am thrilled to share my experience with the Town and Country minivan. This is actually my seventh one! I have driven over 100,000 miles on each of the six previous ones, and I have never had any issues with the engine or transmission. My 2002 model even went over 250,000 miles without any problems. My current 2014 model has 104,000 miles on it and still runs like a dream. It gets up to 31 mpg on the road and averages 26 mpg overall, which is fantastic. The spacious interior is one of my favourite features, and I love how it handles on the road. Although there is one minor issue with the chrome on the dash reflecting the sun into my eyes, I was able to easily fix it by painting over it. Now, I love the layout of the dash, especially the readout for the vehicle speed. The trailer tow package is also a great feature, and I have no problem pulling my 3200 lb boat. The engine is powerful enough for this and for getting up to speed on highway ramps. Overall, this minivan is a great value for the price, and it is reliable, comfortable, and great on gas. I currently get 27.1 combined gas mileage, and I plan to get new tires in November before winter. I still love driving this van, and I may keep it for many more years. The noise from the sliding doors has stopped, and I love it even more now. I had the opportunity to test my Michelin Defender tires in the snow last spring, and they had good traction, even in 11

I'm so excited to share that I just purchased this amazing van for only $17000 out the door! It had only 20000 miles on it, and let me tell you, it's the best vehicle I've ever owned. It's incredibly comfortable, has plenty of storage space, and gets great gas mileage. I've owned sports cars, luxury cars, and SUVs in the past, but this van beats them all, especially for the price. I was originally looking at Toyotas, but I couldn't find anything with this year and mileage for less than $23000. I know some people might want more power, but if you're looking for a comfortable ride, this is the perfect choice. It feels like a luxury vehicle!

My T&C van has been a pleasure to drive, until recently. Lately, I've noticed that the ride is starting to get rough, the transmission is shifting less smoothly, and the gas mileage in town has gone down. Despite these issues, I'm grateful for the opportunity to have driven this vehicle. However, I'm concerned that it won't last as long as my Chevy Venture did, especially since I've already had to replace some engine parts and lights. Thankfully, my extended warranty has saved me thousands of pounds. I think it might be time to consider trading it in.

This van is a great choice for any weather conditions. It handles well and is comfortable to drive. With an overall 27 mpg, it's also fuel-efficient. The towing package allows me to tow a 3500lb boat with ease. The heated seats and steering wheel are perfect for cold weather in Wisconsin. I have never had any problems with snow, ice, and rain. Recently, I replaced the Michelin Energy Saver tires with Defenders, which have better traction and no tire squeal. The 3.6 engine has a lot of power, making it easy to get into traffic. This is the best of seven Chrysler minivans that I have owned since my first one in 1988. I have never had a problem with any of my vans. Regular maintenance, such as changing the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles and engine oil every 4,000 miles, has kept my vans running smoothly. Even with 85,000 miles, this van runs like new. On a recent 600 mile trip, I got 30.8mpg (300 mi out and 300 mi return). I sold this van to my son, who loves it and uses it for camping. With over 50,000 miles on it, it still drives like new. This 2014 Chrysler is a great van.The tires have been replaced with another set of Michelin Defender tires. This van is built to last. I regret not keeping it, as it is a better van than the Pacifica. If I could find a 2016 Town and Country Limited, I would purchase it and replace the Pacifica.

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with my 94 T&C. I've owned quite a few cars in my 64 years, including Chevys, Chryslers, Pontiacs, Toyotas, Nissans, Fords, and even a Renault Fuego! But my T&C has been my favorite so far. I bought it from a lovely retired couple for a great price and it was in mint condition. After some maintenance work, I took it on a 3,000 mile road trip and it performed beautifully! And now, with over 100,000 miles on it, it's still in perfect condition. The paint is flawless and the leather seats look brand new. I just love it!

I regret to inform you that my vehicle has experienced several issues, including sudden stalling after reaching 100000 miles, a faulty gas tank which required replacement at a cost of $850.00, and a malfunctioning transmission. Additionally, I have had to invest in repairs such as fixing the air conditioning for $600.00, replacing the radiator for $400.00, and frequently replacing the brakes and rotors. Unfortunately, the paint has also begun to fade prematurely. Despite these challenges, I remain confident in my ability to make informed decisions regarding my vehicle and will continue to prioritize its maintenance and upkeep.

My friend and I rented a van for a week-long road trip from the Midwest to California. The van was quite comfortable, but unfortunately, we experienced a couple of issues. Firstly, the gears didn't switch smoothly at times, which was a bit frustrating. Secondly, my friend's fiancé was on a similar road trip to Florida with the same minivan (with similar mileage), and their alternator blew on the way back. However, we did appreciate the stow and go seats and the technology in the van, although the steering wheel controls were not to my liking. Overall, it was a decent ride for us, but I wouldn't recommend it as a long-term investment. Personally, I drive a new Toyota Sienna for work, and I believe that most people would be better off with that or a Honda Odyssey (which my parents used to own).
Coy Weimann 2025-10-16
Vehicle year: 2016
I had three previous caravans and thought this one would be good, but unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. Compared to my previous vans, which included a Toyota with 187,000 miles on it, this one was junk. Although it seemed nice at first, the seats did not adjust well to my somewhat short legs. At 44,000 miles, it started rattling and driving like a truck instead of a touring vehicle. Then, a warning light came on and it turned out that a head cylinder was defective, which required the vehicle to be taken apart and replaced. Thankfully, the dealer did this under warranty after a little argument. I never managed to get the phone to sync, probably because the car was leased and the previous owner's phone was still connected, along with their music. Unfortunately, there was no manual for the electronics included, only a CD with instructions that did not help at all. Additionally, the front bumper cracked on a snow bank. With 54,000 miles on it, I cannot even trust it to drive across the country to see my son, which is what I purchased it for. I hope this information helps others avoid making the same mistake I did. I am relieved to say that I have gotten rid of it and can now go on a road trip with confidence!

The mechanism that makes the doors open has malfunctioned, rendering the door completely inoperable. This poses a significant safety risk and requires a repair cost of $700. Despite the longevity of the company, the recurring issue with the side doors is disappointing. Additionally, the front seat molding has a tendency to detach. It is imperative that these issues are addressed promptly. The radio and stereo system have also ceased functioning without warning, which is unfortunate as it means my grandchildren can no longer enjoy movies during our travels. These issues are unacceptable and Chrysler Corp should take immediate action to rectify them.

Vehicle year: 2008
I purchased this van new in 2008 and have unfortunately experienced a number of issues with it. Despite regular maintenance, I have had to replace brake pads annually, rotors every other year, and two sets of front wheel bearings. Additionally, there have been numerous serious recalls. While it has been a frustrating experience, I am grateful for the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty that Chrysler has honored. Although I will not be purchasing another Chrysler product, I am confident that they will continue to stand behind their warranties and provide excellent customer service.
