Chrysler Cirrus problems

The Chrysler Cirrus is a mid-sized 4-door notchback sedan introduced by Chrysler motors for the 1995 model year. Built on the Chrysler JA platform, the 4-door notchback sedan joined Chrysler's roster of "Cloud Car" models drawing their names from meteorological terms, including the mid-priced Dodge Stratus it was based on introduced at the same time, and the low-priced Plymouth Breeze variant a year later.
Design
Development of the Cirrus started in 1991, with the goal of creating an affordable, expressive-looking, fun-to-drive vehicle that was still safe enough to transport an everyday family.
The concept car designed for the 1992 auto show circuit featured rear suicide doors and a 400 hp (298 kW; 406 PS) turbocharged 3.0 L two-stroke engine using alcohol fuel. The concept also foreshadowed a hood-line with almost no break with the windshield to improve aerodynamics.
Both the concept and production model used the Chrysler Corporation's new cab-forward design, which was launched on the larger LH sedans in 1992. This three-box design was characterized by a large passenger cabin in proportion to a comparatively short hood and trunk, highlighted by a long, dramatically slanted windshield and short overhangs. Pushing the wheels further to the corners of the body created a much larger cabin than most other similarly sized vehicles of that time.
The a four-door notchback sedan was designed with flowing lines with no distinct beginning or end, but almost resembled a two-box fastback. Design work was done during 1991, with the final version moved on for production by 1992.

Was the Chrysler Cirrus a good car?
A very good car...
I had a Cirrus which I purchased new in 2000 and drove everyday for nearly 8 years. I had no mechanical problems at all. I changed the oil every 3,500 miles and replaced tires and the battery once. I had 135,000 miles on it when I traded it for a new Chrysler Sebring.
What type of engine is a Cirrus?
The Cirrus and Hermes or Cirrus-Hermes are a series of British aero engines manufactured, under various changes of ownership, from the 1920s until the 1950s. The engines were all air-cooled, four-cylinder inline types, with earlier ones upright and later designs inverted.
Do Cirrus hold their value?
How is an aircraft depreciated? According to analyzes of price declines in recent years, the loss of value of Cirrus aircraft has been around 20% in 6 years, including generational change with significant innovation (SR22T GTS G5-G6).

I got this car as my first vehicle. It was previously owned by my uncle who took great care of it and kept it well-maintained. When I purchased it just over a year ago, it had 130k miles on it. Now, with 155k miles and counting, it's still going strong. I've had to replace the struts and ball joints at 140k miles, which is a fairly common repair. I also had to replace the blower motor resistor. As a 17-year-old country boy, I knew my way around cars and I've definitely put this car through its paces. I've chirped the tires about 5 days a week every week and even topped it out at about 115 mph, which was a bit scary as any sedan should be! I've left massive burnouts and clouds of smoke behind me, and my car has been up to the doors in mud and through a foot of water. I've even jumped a few railroad tracks and it hasn't skipped a beat! This car has quick acceleration and great handling. I absolutely love it!

I have had this vehicle from the dealer and it has been a great car. Although the water pump and transmission gaskets have been replaced twice, it was all under warranty. Currently, it is burning some oil, but considering the 74000 miles on it and the fact that we don't drive it very much, it has been reliable. We absolutely love the sporty look of the vehicle, especially with the alloy wheels. I would highly recommend this car to anyone. However, I must mention that the cup holders in the back are poorly designed and the middle compartment needs more room (ours broke). On the bright side, it has a lot of power for a V-6, which is great for the highway. Overall, I would rate it a 9 out of 10.

This vehicle has been in the shop only once in 11 years for a minor repair, other than normal service. I have consistently gotten 28 to 30 mpg, and it handles as well as most sports cars. I have driven everything with 4 to 18 wheels and cannot understand paying 30 to 45 thousand for bells and whistles when this car can still be purchased in the low 20's.

I bought my 95 with just over 50K on the odometer. Apart from general maintenance, the only repairs I've had done are a new battery and freeze plug. I just put my first set of tires on and got an alignment at 88K miles. My mechanic says the car looks good.

Vehicle year: 1999
When I first got the car in the summer of 2015, it blew my mind. Despite having 174,000 miles on it, it has been a reliable companion, and now with 185,000 miles on it as of March 1, 2016, it continues to amaze me. Living in Buffalo, NY (GO BILLS), I have to deal with horrible snow, but thanks to its front-wheel drive, powerful torque, and 2.5-liter V6 engine (LXI version), it handles the snow without any issue. This car is the real MVP of Chrysler, and the homemade American car has done a great job of taking me back and forth wherever I need to go. I haven't had to spend too much money on it, only about $2000 including gas, oil changes, regular maintenance (tire rotation, air filter, etc.), and even the car accident I caused myself (mind you, I'm still a new driver). Overall, this car truly deserves an award for its strong life and its persistent ability to start every day when I turn the key. It's truly my Ferrari ;)

Vehicle year: 1996
The Cirrus is certainly a good-looking car, but unfortunately, my personal experience with it has been less than ideal. In under 6 years of ownership, I've had to call a tow truck 7 times. I've had to replace the starter, transmission, front ball joint assembly, water pump, power steering lines, tie rod ends, exhaust system, electronic spark distribution system, spark plugs, AC components, blower motor control resistor element, timing belt, rear defogger control module, and even the gas tank filler spout. Additionally, the ABS system stopped working. Despite these issues, I still appreciate the car's appearance.

My experience with the V6 Cirrus LX has led me to the decision of not purchasing Chrysler products in the future. Despite its great styling and enjoyable driving experience, the car required major repairs and had poor reliability. The air conditioning system and rack and pinion had to be replaced, and at 70K miles, the car began to have issues with lurching, acceleration, and stalling. Despite attempts by both the dealer and an independent shop, the issue could not be resolved. I ultimately traded it in for a VW.

I have owned this 2000 Cirrus since Oct, 1999 and unfortunately, I have had nothing but trouble with it since the day I purchased it. However, I must say that Foley Chrysler is one of the best dealerships around New England. They have treated me fantastically and I highly recommend them. Although, it will be a long time before I purchase another Chrysler product.

I purchased this car back in 2004 when it had 63,000 miles on it. It's a spacious car with a great Mitsubishi V6 engine that provides good power and is loaded with features that were impressive for its time (1998). It ran smoothly until it reached 84,000 miles. I had to replace the motor belt at 85,000 miles for $65, and there was a leak in one of the engine parts that cost $200 to fix. At 90,000 miles, there was an antifreeze leak that cost $200 to repair, and the fuel pump had to be replaced at 103,000 miles for $500. The gaskets were replaced at 105,000 miles for $200. Overall, it's been a good car, especially up to 90,000 miles, after which it started showing its age. However, its performance has never decreased, and it's still peppy with a lot of power. It's a stable and reasonably reliable car.

This is a really nice car! It's built like a tank and the body and paint are in great shape. Although the engine is a bit under-powered and can be difficult to work on, I've managed to do it several times. The transmission can also hesitate to shift when you floor it, but it's not a major issue. The average fuel economy for a V6 is pretty good, and I only have to fill up the 16-gallon tank about once a week. There are some minor dings on the doors from inconsiderate shoppers/neighbors/coworkers and a few tiny rust bubbles on the very tip of the hood from rocks flying up on the highway, but overall it's a great car!
