The Chrysler Imperial, introduced in 1926, was Chrysler's top-of-the-line vehicle for much of its history. Models were produced with the Chrysler name until 1954, after which it became a standalone brand; and again from 1990 to 1993. The company positioned the cars as a prestige marque to rival Cadillac, Continental, Lincoln, Duesenberg, Pierce Arrow, Cord, and Packard. According to Antique Automobile, "The adjective 'imperial' according to Webster's Dictionary means sovereign, supreme, superior or of unusual size or excellence. The word imperial thus justly befits Chrysler's highest priced model."

For several decades and multiple generations, the Imperial was the exclusive Chrysler and the favorite choice of luxurious transportation for senior executive leadership, government officials, royalty and various celebrities in comparison to the more affordable Chrysler New Yorker. Over the years the appearance, technological advancements and luxurious accommodations updated with the latest trends and fashionable appearances. Limousines, town cars and convertibles were the usual appearances, while special coachwork choices were provided by the industry's best providers, to include Derham, Fleetwood, LeBaron, and others.

The Chrysler Imperial rose was cultivated in 1952 and used to promote the brand.

UPON RESEARCH, IT WAS DISCOVERED THERE WAS WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION THAT CHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE ABS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE ABS PUMP MODULE WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 271.25. THE NEW ABS MODULE STARTED MALFUNCTIONING IN JUNE OF 2012, STARTING WITH SMALL CHIRPING NOISES THEN GROWING LOUDER INTO SQUEALS AND GRINDING FROM THE ABS PUMP MOTOR ITSELF. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE PUMP HAD FAILED AND A NEW ONE WAS INSTALLED. THE CONSUMER CALLED CHRYSLER TO INFORM THEM, THE PUMP THAT WAS INSTALLED IN 2010 HAD FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR WARRANTY REPAIR. WHEN THE CONSUMER'S SON PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND LEFT THE PARKING LOT, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOST 90% OF ITS ABILITY TO STOP. THE MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE ABS PUMP MOTOR WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKES TO FAIL. AFTER CONTACTING CHRYSLER AGAIN, THEY AUTHORIZED ANOTHER ABS PUMP TO BE INSTALLED. AFTER THE INSTALLATION, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT STARTED ILLUMINATING OFF AND ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONSUMER MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO HAVE THE DEALER RESOLVED THE ISSUE BY HAVING THEM KEEP THE VEHICLE FOR WEEKS AT A TIME, AND WE THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT WAS STILL ON. THE CONSUMER LEARNED TO DEAL WITH THE LIGHT, UNTIL ONE DAY, WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING, THE ABS PUMP BEGAN MAKING A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND STOPPED ALL TOGETHER. CHRYSLER ADVISED THE CONSUMER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP OF HER CHOICE. THE CONSUMERS MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY ABS PUMP. WHEN CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED AGAIN, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE PART WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. HOWEVER, THE REPAIR SHOP STATED THEY HAD ONE. CHRYSLER CLAIMED, THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PUMP UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY WERE CLOSING THE CASE.
