Chrysler 300 problems

The Chrysler 300 is a full-size car manufactured and marketed by Stellantis North America and its predecessor companies as a four-door sedan and station wagon in its first generation (model years 2005–2010) and solely as a four-door sedan in its second generation (model years 2011–2023).
The second generation 300 was marketed as the Chrysler 300C in the United Kingdom and Ireland and as the Lancia Thema in the remainder of Europe.
Background
The Chrysler 300 continues a tradition of large front engine, rear-wheel drive V8-powered luxury sedans the company has offered, starting in the 1940s with the Chrysler Saratoga and Chrysler New Yorker, followed by the Chrysler Windsor, Chrysler Newport and the Chrysler Cordoba, with the last rear wheel drive sedan, the Chrysler Fifth Avenue that ended production in 1989.
When the company began operations in 1925, the Chrysler Six was entered as a roadster in the 1925 24 Hours of Le Mans where it finished the race, and in 1926, the Chrysler Imperial started the tradition of luxury and performance products. Starting in 1955, the Imperial became its own luxury brand and offered the Imperial Newport along with the Imperial Crown. The original Chrysler FirePower Hemi engine powered the Cunningham C-5R, a special racecar, and finished the 1952 Le Mans, 1953 Le Mans, and 1954 Le Mans endurance races, as well as the 1953 12 Hours of Sebring.

Common Chrysler 300 problems
The Chrysler 300, a full-size luxury sedan, has been popular for its powerful engine and classic looks. However, various model years have experienced a range of issues under the hood, including electrical problems and transmission defects. This article discusses some of the most common problems with the Chrysler 300, based on complaints from owners.
Faulty Electrical Systems
Like many luxury cars, the Chrysler 300 struggled with electrical gremlins. Some 2013 Chrysler 300s have reported various electrical system issues, including power loss and electrical system failure, at around 30,000 miles.
Defective Airbags

Defective Power Windows
In general, power windows may not work properly due to a broken motor or a worn-out window regulator cable. Owners of 2004-2015 Chrysler 300 model years should be on the lookout for this problem.

Chrysler 300 2019
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-28
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-20
- VIN: 2C3CCAAG6KH
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: The cruise system malfunctioned. In multiple scenarios (at least three) when the cruise control was set, if the accelerator is pushed while the cruise control is engaged, the vehicle will continue to accelerate even if the accelerator is released. Disengaging the cruise control via brake usage or by hand on the steering wheel does not stop the unwanted acceleration. The only way to stop the acceleration is to move it from in Drive to Neutral. At that point, an error populates on the dash and the acceleration stops with cruise control disengagement as well. The issue is fixed upon placing the car back in Drive. Unsolicited acceleration puts the driver and others on the road at risk. The issue has not been presented to a dealer or service center for review and has not been inspected by other entities. No dash messages or warnings occurred prior to the failure.

- Date Complaint: 2024-10-14
- VIN: 2C3CCAAG4MH
- Components: SEAT BELTS
- Summary: -Took Vehicle to Service Center, they told me to call 800-992-1997 and ask for authorization for replacement. - Its at the service center for Larry Miller Chrysler, so I am not sure why they are not calling to get approvals. The seatbelt should never have unraveled or torn, they keep saying my warranty just expired, but this is a factory issue, no seatbelt should be tearing every and I have had the car for 3 years now. My concern has nothing to do with the safety recall, this is a separate issue. My seatbelt on the driver side has began unraveling, Ive been driving since 16 teen and never saw this before. I went to buckle my seatbelt about a week agao from 10/14/2024 and it would not pull through and I notice it was actually torn in half to the middle mark of the canvas belt. This is a FYI, i have taken it to dealership, they are looking it over. They did without looking just say to me out the blue I have never heard of this you must have cut it. ( That was insulting, why would I, [XXX] just cut my seatbelt)? The Larry Miller Dealership, service center is a joke. Replaced the battery twice in 2 weeks and the alternator as well and the car continues to do this randomly. No codes show up but the abs light, esp bas lights are on, the brake light will come on every now and then without the brake being pressed and the car seriously just seems to have a mind of it's own.

Vehicle year: 2021
I read the car and driver review and found it to be a bit outdated and negative. However, I am happy to share my experience with our 2021 300S with all the options. It is a fantastic cruiser with a comfortable ride, powerful engine, and smooth transmission. The user/driver interface is intuitive and easy to use, making it a pleasure to drive all day long. The back seat is spacious and the driving experience is excellent. The visibility is very good and the interior fit/finish is perfect for the price range. While it may not be a big muscle car that lays down rubber for 3 city blocks, the 5.7 Hemi is plenty powerful for most of us. Overall, I could not be happier with our purchase and I am grateful that Chrysler offered such a great car.

I have been driving this car for about a month and I must say, it's a BEAST! I have the 5.7 300S and it never misses a beat. The Hemi provides all the happiness you need. It's not overdone with detracting options, just a muscle car under cover. All I did was put the Hemi decals on it so the next guy would know not to try me!

After owning two top-trim level Mazdas, I was on the lookout for a car that offered true luxury and high-tech features, as well as a more exhilarating driving experience. I considered several options, including the Ford Taurus SHO and the Hyundai Genesis R-Spec, but nothing caught my attention like the 300 John Varvatos Edition. I love how unique this car is - I doubt I'll ever run into another one on the road. It's absolutely gorgeous and a blast to drive, especially with the 5.7 Hemi. Even after driving it for over 2500 miles, I still look forward to every time I get behind the wheel. Trust me, this car looks, sounds, and accelerates better than most cars in the $60-70k range.

We've been driving our Chrysler 300 for about three months now, and we couldn't be happier with it. I bought it for my wife, and she fell in love with it instantly. We traded in our Honda Civic for the Chrysler 300 Limited, and we have absolutely no regrets. The interior design is fantastic, and the exterior design is simply marvelous - it always turns heads. We went with the brilliant black color, and it looks stunning. I especially love the halo-type daytime running headlights, which give the car the same luxurious look as an Audi or Mercedes. The 3.6-liter V6 engine is very peppy, and the overall ride of the car is incredibly comfortable. We actually rented this car before we bought it, and we would definitely recommend it - especially if you're looking for a luxury car at a great price.

I was looking for a luxurious car and while the ride of this car was amazing, unfortunately, it spent more time in the shop. It had heating/cooling issues that took a year to identify, even after getting Chrysler involved. It would blow extremely hot air even when the AC was on, and despite my complaints, they kept telling me there was nothing wrong with it. This was very frustrating. Although we eventually got it fixed, when I picked up the car, something else was wrong. I brought it back and they said my power steering pump was gone. It was barely covered under warranty and now, just a day later, it was out of warranty. I decided to trade this car in as it was becoming a money pit!

If you're considering buying a Hemi 300, read this review for an honest opinion. Before purchasing mine, I did some research online and found numerous reviews about the 5.7 Hemi failing at 100k miles. Despite being cautious, my engine failed and required a full rebuild at 145k miles. However, since then, I haven't had any issues with the engine apart from the check engine light randomly turning on and off (which is common with all 300s). The biggest problem with this car is the front end, which is unreliable and prone to making noise. Unfortunately, this is a common issue with all 300s, and even after replacing parts, the noise returns after a few weeks. The rear suspension is also problematic, but not as much as the front. While some of my friends have experienced electrical problems with their 300s, I haven't encountered this issue yet. Overall, the 300 has its flaws, but it's still a great car to own.The transmission in my 300c AWD has been pretty good to me. I only had one problem with it. I would be driving and pull up to a light, and when I try to start again, the transmission would rev up to high rpms, and I would only crawl forward at about 3 mph. So, I had to restart the car in the middle of the intersection, and it fixed itself. But then it happened again 5 minutes later, and again and again. I brought it in, and it ended up being a $10 sensor that was in the tranny instead of on top where it usually is on a car. So, I had to send it to a rebuild place, which charged $850 for the job. Since then, I have had no problems. The Chrysler 300c hemi AWD (and RWD) is a unique car that looks fantastic, sounds mean, rides amazing, and shifts smooth. You have endless power under your foot, and it's like driving a Mercedes with a bad-ass American V8. It's Mustang GT/Camaro Z28 speed in a car that is full-sized, comfortable, and weighs an extra 1000 lbs. Plus, with the AWD, it's good in the snow and actually handles really well. The suspension is firm for a normal car, but it feels plush and expensive. The interior is very nice, with really good quality materials that feel and look very nice. I get compliments on the car everywhere I go. Although the maintenance is insane, it guzzles gas and has endless problems, I'm still glad I bought it.If you decide to buy one, you can get extra life out of your Hemi by changing the oil every 3000 miles, using high octane fuel like 93 (I was using 87 when my engine failed), and investing in an oil catch can to prevent oil build-up inside the engine, which is commonly what causes the Hemis to eventually fail.

I have owned two 300C AWDs, the first being the 2006 model which I absolutely loved. However, the 2008 model has been a disappointment due to its noise level and various issues such as electrical problems, navigation system and UConnect malfunctions, and the need for new rotors at just over 12000 miles. Although the ride is smooth, the noise level is unacceptable and makes it difficult to hear while on UConnect. It seems that the 2008 version has been cheapened compared to the 2006 model. I had planned to remain loyal to Chrysler, but unless they have made significant improvements to their quality, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

The car has unfortunately had a number of issues, including stalling on left turns after a tank fill up due to a deteriorating valve in the fuel tank. The tank had to be replaced, and after the replacement, the car required two turns to start unless it was a cold start. There has also been a clacking noise from the air re-circulation control, which has been repaired twice, once by Chrysler. Unfortunately, it is clacking again and can be quite frustrating. The park to neutral lockout mechanism also broke, making the car undrivable, but this was taken care of by Chrysler as a courtesy. The hood and trunk lifting struts have been replaced three times, but they only seem to last six months in the high-temperature environment of Las Vegas. Monroe's struts seem to last the longest. I have had the hood come down on me a couple of times, so now I use a stick. Unfortunately, my wife had to go to the emergency room when the trunk came down on her head. Before 50,000 miles, the rack and pinion and water pump failed. I have been told by service that there are cracks in some components of the front end. We now only use the car for local driving due to these issues. On wet roads, the back end spins out with little force on the accelerator, especially on left turns. The door handles also break free from the hinge side, but this can be fixed with GOOP. The car is only used locally as there has been a major issue with every prior trip. Over the last couple of thousand miles, the car has been riding like it has solid wheels with a lot of road noise, obviously a suspension issue of some kind. The tires are inflated to the rated pressure as noted on the spec sheet by the driver's door. Unfortunately, the car has no trade-in value or resale value, so we are stuck with a lemon, and a rotted one at that.

I agree with the other review. While the vehicle is certainly handsome, it seems to be plagued with quality and electronic issues. These include paint chipping in many areas, a failed remote key-less system that prevented the car from starting, numerous rattles, safety concerns with the blind spot and rain-sensing wipers that do not work properly and can cause dangerous conditions, and a severe engine shudder. Unfortunately, I have regretted leasing this vehicle since September 2011. While the dealership has been pretty solid, it seems that Chrysler is struggling with these issues.
