Chrysler 300 problems

The Chrysler 300 is a full-size car manufactured and marketed by Stellantis North America and its predecessor companies as a four-door sedan and station wagon in its first generation (model years 2005–2010) and solely as a four-door sedan in its second generation (model years 2011–2023).
The second generation 300 was marketed as the Chrysler 300C in the United Kingdom and Ireland and as the Lancia Thema in the remainder of Europe.
Background
The Chrysler 300 continues a tradition of large front engine, rear-wheel drive V8-powered luxury sedans the company has offered, starting in the 1940s with the Chrysler Saratoga and Chrysler New Yorker, followed by the Chrysler Windsor, Chrysler Newport and the Chrysler Cordoba, with the last rear wheel drive sedan, the Chrysler Fifth Avenue that ended production in 1989.
When the company began operations in 1925, the Chrysler Six was entered as a roadster in the 1925 24 Hours of Le Mans where it finished the race, and in 1926, the Chrysler Imperial started the tradition of luxury and performance products. Starting in 1955, the Imperial became its own luxury brand and offered the Imperial Newport along with the Imperial Crown. The original Chrysler FirePower Hemi engine powered the Cunningham C-5R, a special racecar, and finished the 1952 Le Mans, 1953 Le Mans, and 1954 Le Mans endurance races, as well as the 1953 12 Hours of Sebring.

Faulty Electrical Systems

Chrysler 300 2019
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-28
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-20
- VIN: 2C3CCAAG6KH
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: The cruise system malfunctioned. In multiple scenarios (at least three) when the cruise control was set, if the accelerator is pushed while the cruise control is engaged, the vehicle will continue to accelerate even if the accelerator is released. Disengaging the cruise control via brake usage or by hand on the steering wheel does not stop the unwanted acceleration. The only way to stop the acceleration is to move it from in Drive to Neutral. At that point, an error populates on the dash and the acceleration stops with cruise control disengagement as well. The issue is fixed upon placing the car back in Drive. Unsolicited acceleration puts the driver and others on the road at risk. The issue has not been presented to a dealer or service center for review and has not been inspected by other entities. No dash messages or warnings occurred prior to the failure.

- Date Complaint: 2024-10-14
- VIN: 2C3CCAAG4MH
- Components: SEAT BELTS
- Summary: -Took Vehicle to Service Center, they told me to call 800-992-1997 and ask for authorization for replacement. - Its at the service center for Larry Miller Chrysler, so I am not sure why they are not calling to get approvals. The seatbelt should never have unraveled or torn, they keep saying my warranty just expired, but this is a factory issue, no seatbelt should be tearing every and I have had the car for 3 years now. My concern has nothing to do with the safety recall, this is a separate issue. My seatbelt on the driver side has began unraveling, Ive been driving since 16 teen and never saw this before. I went to buckle my seatbelt about a week agao from 10/14/2024 and it would not pull through and I notice it was actually torn in half to the middle mark of the canvas belt. This is a FYI, i have taken it to dealership, they are looking it over. They did without looking just say to me out the blue I have never heard of this you must have cut it. ( That was insulting, why would I, [XXX] just cut my seatbelt)? The Larry Miller Dealership, service center is a joke. Replaced the battery twice in 2 weeks and the alternator as well and the car continues to do this randomly. No codes show up but the abs light, esp bas lights are on, the brake light will come on every now and then without the brake being pressed and the car seriously just seems to have a mind of it's own.

I got my Chrysler 300 S in February and I highly recommend getting the safety package. I traded in my 2012 300 C with 300,000 km on it. I drive a lot and the 300 has never let me down, aside from regular maintenance like tires and brake pads. The V8 Hemi is a great choice and is also fuel efficient compared to other V8 cars like BMW or Mercedes.

I purchased this car used just over a year ago and it has been performing perfectly, except for a few quirks in the infotainment system. The AWD worked flawlessly during the past winter and the heated steering wheel is a must-have for those living in northern climates. The 3.6 Pentastar engine does an excellent job of moving this heavy car and the 8-speed ZF transmission, while occasionally caught by surprise, does a good job overall. The gas mileage could be better, but since I don't take long trips, I'm not sure how good the highway mileage is. The 6-speaker premium sound system is one of the best I've ever heard and the seats are comfortable. On the rare occasion that I'm not listening to music, it's quiet as a tomb going down the road, which I'm sure is due in part to the Michelins. I've had cars that I loved to get into, but this one is on a whole other level! The climate control is also one of the best I've seen, heating and cooling quickly, which is amazing for such a big car. The only downside is that they'll probably be discontinued. What a beautiful looking car!

Congratulations on your purchase! I'm glad to hear that you had a comfortable and efficient drive back home. The fuel economy of your 2009 Heritage Edition is impressive, especially considering its size and weight. It's great to hear that the acceleration is terrific and the car is ergonomically designed. Although the rear view may take some getting used to, overall it sounds like a great purchase. Thank you for sharing your positive experience and recommendation!

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your 2nd 300C! It sounds like the comfort and performance are the standout features for you. While the highway mpg is around 27-28, it's great to hear that you've seen 30+ many times. The available power is definitely a plus. I understand your concern about the size of the brakes and agree that better stopping ability would be ideal. Overall, it seems like the 300C is the best value for your money, especially with its huge trunk and ergonomic perfection.

I fell in love with these cars about 8 years ago when I rented one. When it was time to buy another used car, I searched specifically for this model. It took some time to find the C model in black with lower miles, but I finally did. I drove 630 miles to get it and 630 miles back, but it was worth it. The C model is loaded and has a Hemi, which I highly recommend for the power. It only gets 2 mpg less than the 6 cyl 3.5 and I average over 25 mpg on the freeway. The interior is very comfortable, it brakes very well, and handles well. The sound system is awesome, but because the car is 11 years old, the navigation system is outdated and has no touch screen or back up camera. However, for the price of the disc required to update, I can buy an aftermarket unit that has all of these features and it will fit right into the dash without modifications. There are outstanding airbag recalls that I will have to take care of, and the worst thing is that when you fill up the car all the way, it stalls. This is a known problem with this and several Chrysler cars, but fortunately, about 2 years ago, they finally agreed to extend a lifetime warranty to the gas tank, which will need to be replaced. I have arranged to take it to the dealership, and this work will be free of charge. Overall, for as nice as this car is, with only 75,000 miles and for the price I paid ($8750), I believe it's a bargain. They are out there to be found, but some dealers think they are worth $10-12k. Don't pay that. Find one and stick to your guns. Many of the dealers who initially laughed at my offer are now calling me ready to sell after sitting on their cars for a couple of months, but of course, they are too late.

The car has unfortunately had a number of issues, including stalling on left turns after a tank fill up due to a deteriorating valve in the fuel tank. The tank had to be replaced, and after the replacement, the car required two turns to start unless it was a cold start. There has also been a clacking noise from the air re-circulation control, which has been repaired twice, once by Chrysler. Unfortunately, it is clacking again and can be quite frustrating. The park to neutral lockout mechanism also broke, making the car undrivable, but this was taken care of by Chrysler as a courtesy. The hood and trunk lifting struts have been replaced three times, but they only seem to last six months in the high-temperature environment of Las Vegas. Monroe's struts seem to last the longest. I have had the hood come down on me a couple of times, so now I use a stick. Unfortunately, my wife had to go to the emergency room when the trunk came down on her head. Before 50,000 miles, the rack and pinion and water pump failed. I have been told by service that there are cracks in some components of the front end. We now only use the car for local driving due to these issues. On wet roads, the back end spins out with little force on the accelerator, especially on left turns. The door handles also break free from the hinge side, but this can be fixed with GOOP. The car is only used locally as there has been a major issue with every prior trip. Over the last couple of thousand miles, the car has been riding like it has solid wheels with a lot of road noise, obviously a suspension issue of some kind. The tires are inflated to the rated pressure as noted on the spec sheet by the driver's door. Unfortunately, the car has no trade-in value or resale value, so we are stuck with a lemon, and a rotted one at that.

I agree with the other review. While the vehicle is certainly handsome, it seems to be plagued with quality and electronic issues. These include paint chipping in many areas, a failed remote key-less system that prevented the car from starting, numerous rattles, safety concerns with the blind spot and rain-sensing wipers that do not work properly and can cause dangerous conditions, and a severe engine shudder. Unfortunately, I have regretted leasing this vehicle since September 2011. While the dealership has been pretty solid, it seems that Chrysler is struggling with these issues.

I love my 300's comfort level and look. However, I am disappointed with the electrical features. My BlueTooth is inoperable, USB ports stopped working, reverse camera blinks, and cruise control works intermittently. Despite these issues, I still appreciate the vehicle's overall quality.

After owning the car for over 3 years, I finally write my in-depth review. As a professional Livery driver, I have spent many hours in this car. Let me start with the best aspects of the car: Even with my 3.6L engine, this car is fast and I think this is what the designers focused on mostly. I have never had a car that peeled out before. The torque is great and fairly responsive, allowing the car to get up to speed without revving too high, making the engine quiet. The exhaust is also quiet. The car is large and roomy, except for maybe the ceiling height, and passengers in the back often comment on how comfortable it is back there. Now, let's talk about some areas that could be improved: My biggest gripe about this car is the suspension. It feels okay over small bumps, but it feels like you crashed into a truck if you hit a small pothole or go over bad roads, which are numerous here in NYC. The suspension is unrefined, but still better than my friend's Cadillac XTS, which also has a horrible suspension. The build of this car is not very good. Pieces vibrate, and creaking sounds come from the rear, sunroof, ceiling, and other places, which gives the impression that it is not a solid car. Even the right side of my top panel, next to my windshield, keeps popping up. This, in combination with the feeling of the harsh suspension, makes it feel like the car is falling apart. For the few years I have owned this car, I have had some trouble. I had to change the battery twice, the entire front suspension, rear shocks, water pump, fuel pump, and a bunch of other minor problems. The suspension being the most costly. My airbag light goes on and off, and the rear windows screech as they go up and down. Anyway, you get the point. The entertainment and touch control system is great. I like the screen size and the way it works. However, my Bluetooth connection stopped working, and I cannot connect my phone anymore. The sound system is very decent. The sunroof is a great feature that allows for ventilation even in rainy weather. Although the wheels have a fake chrome finish with a plastic facade, the car still offers a solid value. The steering wheel is decent, but may cause discomfort after extended use. The leather seats are comfortable for long periods of time, but could benefit from further refinement. Overall, this car is a great deal, especially if you can negotiate a warranty into the price. Personally, I would choose this car over a Camry or any other similarly priced vehicle any day.

I really wanted to love this car because it has a smooth and quiet ride, good fuel mileage, and sparkles! However, there are two issues that make it a love/hate relationship. Firstly, the climate control has been acting up for some time now, blowing out super-hot air occasionally, regardless of the temperature setting. I am taking it back to the dealer for a second repair. Secondly, the front windshield is extremely pitted after only 34k miles, which is quite disappointing. I am not sure if it's due to aerodynamics or cheap glass, but I do not tailgate. At this rate, I will have to replace it by 50k miles. *Update June 28, 2016: I have owned this Chrysler 300 for a little over 2 years and 45,000 miles. Unfortunately, it has spent way too much time at the dealer for major repairs, which has been extremely frustrating. Apparently, Chrysler does not like to acknowledge defects. For instance, my entire dash had to be removed to repair a faulty climate control system, which was only completed after 2 prior visits where I was told that the system was working per
